urn to Homepage "A Biblical Case for the Catholic Faith: 3 Fundamental ways the non-Catholic churches depart from the Church of the Holy Bible" Please email me with your questions, objections or comments. INRI33AD@aol.com Christ said the "Gates of Hell" would not prevail against his Church? (Matt 16:16-19) Do you believe what he said about this? It is impossible for the "Gates of Hell" to overcome Christ's Church or for it to teach false doctrines. It is impossible if we "truly" believe what the Holy Scriptures say. What I will ask you below will leave you in a quandary. You will be faced with believing what the Holy Scriptures actually say, or discounting them to justify your present theology. It is true, that if the doctrines of the Catholic Church were never corrupted, (as Protestants allege they were), there would be no need for Protestantism; for there would be nothing in the theology of Christ's Church to "reform." Let us be clear what we are discussing here. We are not speaking of the "Sinners" in the Church or what these sinners have done, past or present. We are discussing what a Church officially teaches as the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's doctrines/creeds/catechisms. Have men in the Catholic Church committed heinous sins in the past, present or future? Unfortunately yes. But they are not alone. All churches have their fair share of sinners, even yours. During the Protestant reformation in the Anglican stream, Henry VIII executed St. Thomas Moore and many other Catholics who would not convert to the Church of England. In the Calvinist stream, Calvin executed the heretic Serventus. In the Lutheran stream, Martin Luther advocated the killing of Anabaptist leaders, the burning of Jewish synagogues and the slaughter of the peasants during the Peasants War. In the Anabaptist stream, Anabaptist seized the town of Munster in 1534, burned all the books in the city (except the Bible), and killed many before their attempt to establish a "New Jerusalem" in the town fell apart the next year. And this says nothing of the scandals of our modern day televangelists or the plague facing today's Protestant ministers with infidelity. Search "protestant pastors infidelity " in google.com and read what Protestantism's own ministers say about this epidemic problem of up to 30% of its pastors. Yes, every church has a past and a present. That is why one should not look at the "Sinners" of a Church to see if the Church is Apostolic, but what the Church teaches, it's theology. Are its Doctrines Apostolic, i.e. what the Apostles taught the early Church? That is the question. CS Lewis wrote in “Mere Christianity” that the ONLY reason to belong to a particular faith is because it is True. Not because you like the pastor or enjoy the music or they have great activities for the kids. The ONLY reason to embrace a faith is if it is Apostolic. The teachings of the Apostles to the Bride of Christ, his early Church. While a tree can surely be known by its fruit, we must actually see if we are judging the tree itself (i.e., the Church) and not the sinners IN the Church. For all of us are sinners and every Church (Catholic and Protestant) is guilty at one time or another of less than virtuous leaders....To include the Apostolic Church 2000 years ago. If we were to judge the Apostolic Church by the behavior of the Apostles on Good Friday, there would be no reason to accept Christ's infant Church, for all but 1 deserted him, one denied him thrice and one betrayed him with a kiss. But we don't reject Christ's Church for the sins of the Apostles, we acknowledge their sin nature and rather accept the Gospel Christ entrusted to them and his Church. "Teach them to observe all I have taught you and behold I am with you always until the end of the world" Matt 28:20 Yet, Protestants maintain that the Catholic Church has become corrupt, or paganized or that it teaches false doctrines. Has it? Christ started his Church in Matt 16:16-19. "You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church, and the Gates of Hell will not prevail against it" Matt 16:16-19 Scripture and history tell us that Christ started the Catholic Church and for 1000+ years it was the ONLY Christian Church on this planet. (Unless you want to count the "Great Heresies of history," which even modern Protestants consider outside orthodox Christianity.) It was the ONLY Christian Church for 1000+ years. It was and still is a universal Church. "Catholic" in Greek means "Universal". I.e., the Universal Church, one Church, one Faith. "There is One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God." Eph 4:4-6 St. Ignatius of Antioch, an early Christian Bishop and student of John the Apostle wrote 77 years after Christ ascended into Heaven: "Let no one do anything of concern to the Church without the bishop. Let that be considered a valid Eucharist which is celebrated by the bishop or by one whom he ordains [i.e., a presbyter]. Wherever the bishop appears, let the people be there; just as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church" (Letter to the Smyrneans 8:2 [A.D. 110]). So how could the Catholic Church be corrupt or teach false doctrines as non-Catholics maintain if we truly believe Christ's words? Do you believe the Holy Scriptures even though they don't conform to your present theology? If the Church teaches an evil or false doctrine, is that church still the "Church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth?" 1 Timothy 3:14-16 Even though it teaches an evil doctrine? 1 Timothy 3:14-16 "if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth." But what of this Church that teaches a false/evil doctrine? Is it still "guided by the Spirit to ALL Truth?" John 16:12-14 "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." And this Church that teaches a false/evil doctrine, has Satan overcome it to make it TEACH a false/evil doctrine? Matt 16:16-18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Did the Gates of Hell overcome it? If you say no,,, and the Gates of Hell did NOT overcome it,,,, how come this church is teaching the "Devils false Doctrine" yet not be over come by the Devil ![]() Think about that. You must resolve this contradiction. You BELIEVE it is teaching the Devil's false doctrine, but you maintain that the Gates of Hell have not overcome it? This is a contradiction. Either they did overcome the Catholic Church and you are wrong about the passage of scripture, or they didn't overcome it and you are wrong about the Catholic Church teaching false doctrines. Which is it? And lastly, this Church who Protestant pastors claim are teaching the Devil's false doctrine, was told: Matt 28: 19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Is he not with his Church until the end of the age? The Apostles would not live for ever so this was meant for His Church. Should we believe the Protestant position that Christ is with his Church, and that he sent the Spirit of Truth, to guide it to ALL truth (John 16:13),,, but for some reason, even though he will be with it to the end of the age, he allows it to teach the *Devils Doctrine*?, i.e., something AntiBiblical....something false? Even though it is the Pillar and foundation of TRUTH? How can the Truth teach an evil or false doctrine? Is this your logic? Is this the conclusion? Or is this rationalization of what one doesn't want to believe and can't believe scripture teaches? Either Christ's Church, the "Church of the living God", the "Bride of Christ", the "Pillar and Foundation of Truth," either it's doctrine is corrupt and is teaching the false Devils Doctrine,,, or this Protestant theory of the Renaissance era (that ONLY Protestants and Mormons adhere to), that the Church Christ started is false and corrupt is not true and not even Biblical. Either we trust the Holy Words of Scripture and the Guarantees of Jesus Christ about his Church or we don't. Could it be that the doctrine of Christ's Church really IS protected from "the Gates of Hell" and as Christ said,,, *he really meant it* when he said he would send the "Spirit of Truth to Guide his Church to ALL Truth"? (John 16:13) Could have he really have meant it when it was called the "Pillar and foundation of Truth"? Given the fact that this is the way Christians have Always believed was he really serious when he called it that? Perhaps the Protestant position is just that. The Protestant position,,, made up by Protestants in the Renaissance era. And consequently NOT what the Apostles taught the Early Church. Either Christ's Church is what he said it was: "the pillar and foundation of the truth." to which he would send the "spirit to Guide it in ALL truth", and he would be "with it until the end of the world" and the "Gates of Hell would NEVER prevail against it" Or this same Church now teaches the Devils False Doctrine as modern Protestants maintain. Who should we follow? "The Church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth."1 Timothy 3:14-16 Or, The revelations of Renaissance era philosophers? I.e. the traditions of the Renaissance era man? Just because you have believed something for years on end. Doesn't mean it's true. Either we believe Scripture or we don't. Christ will protect his Church from "Officially Teaching" error on matters of "Faith or Morals" until the end of time. Not on matters of science or politics or even sports, only matters of "Faith or Morals" for that is the job of Christ's Church. The sinners IN the Church are not protected but the Doctrine of the Church itself. That is what the Bible tells us. "the Church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth." 1 Timothy 3:14-16 Either we believe the Holy Scriptures or we don't. |
Medical Workers Strike Suspension: If I Were NMA By Fejiro Oliver Posted by Editor A choir is made up of many voices, including yours and mine. If one by one all go silent then all that will be left are the soloists. Don’t let a loud few determine the nature of the sound. It makes for poor harmony and diminishes the song.” – Vera Nazarian Generations change their style of life; they dictate how their future and that of their unborn should be. They do so not at the peril of others, but for the entire benefit of mankind. Their struggle begins from the womb and come to fruition when they decide to take their destinies in their hands. Still yet, they are sympathetic to the cause of their current generation even as they fight for a tomorrow they may never see. But nothing is more paradisic (my own word for living in paradise) than see their struggles, agitations and tussle for survival come to fruition while the breath of life still run in them. The above aptly capture the delicate health system and their medical workers who despite their agitations remembered their Hippocratic Oath and graciously, but with a clause suspended the strike. At exactly 12.15am Wednesday, a top official of the union sent me a text that the strike has just been suspended. Before then, a government top official has hinted me that they are meeting and the minister who is currently under fire is ready to climb down from his high horse and accede to JOHESU requests. In the meeting which had the minister of health were also present; the Head of civil service of the federation and National President of TUC was an agreement reached that the strike will be suspended for four weeks, with an implementation committee headed by the Head of civil service to implement the ruling of the National Industrial court and the minister not to go on appeal. The true mark of repentance is humility, which Mr. Onyebuchi Chukwu (who is likely to see me as an antagonist, but I see him as a friend in progress) may have shown by finally seeing reasons for the just action of JOHESU. I do not believe he’s unjustly insensitive, but the NMA constituency which he belongs seems to affect his reasoning. He has decided to right the wrongs of Late Ransome Kuti and we bid posterity to begin his judgment from there. Now that the strike has been called off; what would I have done if I were the NMA national president? The strike once again has proved that the doctors of medicine(MD) cannot work as health practitioners without the other doctors and medical practitioners’, thus proving that all services rendered by these medical personnel are indispensible. Were I the NMA chairman, I would humbly call my partners in JOHESU and NUPTAM; apologize for any inflammatory statements that might have angered their members to pour out their venomous wrath on Nigerians, which led to increased number of death since their services were withdrawn. I will borrow a leaf from the NMA Gombe State chairman, Dr Jauro Degri statement, acknowledging their inability to take the place of the other medical officers, thus, “we want to inform the public that whatever service we cannot render as a result of the strike, we can always advise and direct them to where they can be attended to”. It doesn’t cost a dime to be modest and plead that the ultimate end for all medical workers is what Dr Jauro said, “We are all trained to save lives and these lives, we must save, because we know that one day, we must account for this work that we are doing,”. This is what the NMA should do preaching unity and collaboration among themselves. Were I the NMA, I will team up with NUPTAM to form a union that will take the government on the decayed health facilities in the country, failed health issues as their ASUU counterpart are demanding for improvement in the education industry. Imagine a union such as this going on strike! You can bet on it that their industrial action will not last for more than 48 hours before the government of the day consent to their reasonable request(s). They will get the optimum support of all Nigerians, as their being indispensible will be proved beyond reasonable doubt. I will reflect on the NMA strike in Lagos State where Governor Babatunde Fashola relegated them to an inconsequential association, despite the weeks it lingered, with works going on fully in Lagos hospitals. A union such has this would have made Fashola literary creeping and begging for it to be called off. If I were NMA; I would advocate for this common union in the spirit of brotherhood and comradeship. Had I been the NMA, I will truly seek the advice of the Medical Laboratory scientist who is more grounded in their field and thus better, than a pathologist. I will see their services as indispensible, taking a big lesson from the MD in UBTH who tried to do the work of the striking Medical scientist and ended up spilling 18 PCV out of 24 PCV, a clear case of inability. How about the case of the Doctors of physiotherapy (DPT)? The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) will join the Medical Rehabilitation Therapy Board (MRTB) to ask the government to provide enough equipment to the various hospitals, to enable the few graduates they produce do their internship in any hospital in the country. Next, we will write to Nigerian Universities Commission to increase the number of universities studying this course (they are less than 15), while we do all it takes to meet the requirements to setting up such department. A new branch of medicine it is but indispensible. Nigerian former military president, Babangida can testify to it, when he went for a broken leg treatment abroad, as well as former vice president, Atiku Abubakar who have been treated by name. Do we need to mention the governor of Taraba State who needs it to come back to his memory, working alongside a neuro specialist? To the nurses, who are the de facto head of the wards, will I pledge my union support, to respect and not claim to be their boss when actually we are not, either by practice or training, except by age or grade level. We at the NMA executive will set up a committee to look into the unwritten fracas happening between the doctors of medicine and nursing graduates; then proffer a solution once and for all, knowing that the common stake we share is to make a patient get well. We will go the length of meeting the radiography board to iron out our differences while reaching a synergy that not only will they exercise their authority as the modern eyes of in-depth medical practice in their private hospitals, but also government hospitals. We understand that we don’t know anything about diet, and thus should not feign to be dieticians. As the NMA, we accept that we are only a group of specialist in a particular field, who even in our personal lives seek the advice of the dieticians and follow strictly the diet they laid down for us. This dietary department, if true confession is made is a no go area, and thus we won’t and should not deceive patients that it’s within our jurisdiction to give right solution. Succinctly put; we are only an allied profession to it just as we are to others and they are to us. To undermine the Pharmacists who are called Doctor of Pharmacy abroad, if I were a NMA president is to commit career suicide, since my patients cure begin from their doorsteps. They manufacture the drugs which we prescribe to whoever seeks our advice. Beside, these are group of people who can work alone and in places outside the hospital/clinic settings without needing my services or educational input. I will seek to mend fence with them if there were any. Why should we in the medical sector struggle for leadership when that is actually not the problem with our hospitals. In the beginning, it was not so; thus I will let my NMA constituency know that there are no superior in this field of medicine, but equals working toward the same purpose, to achieve a common goal- improved and better health care for us with good monetary value accrued to our services. The debate for harmony is a welcome development, so will I see it, after all, we truly harmonize in the discharge of our duties to the patients. The mistake/failure on the part of a medical lab scientist or radiographer renders useless all the treatment of a doctor of medicine or doctor of physiotherapy. The careless action of a nurse will see a patient to the grave and the list goes on. I will gladly follow the words of Tony Hillarman, “Everything is connected. The wing of the corn beetle affects the direction of the wind, the way the sand drifts, the way the light reflects into the eye of man beholding his reality. All is part of totality, and in this totality man finds his hozro, his way of walking in harmony, with beauty all around him”. This is the harmony that we truly need which should reflect in the leadership. We agree that anyone can head, but better if a hospital administrator is made the head while we all focus on our clinical duties, and the commissioner or minister of health being from any competent medical practitioner. Oh if I were! I will not see Fejiro Oliver as a witch hunting journalist, who was paid to demystify the medical profession, but a reporter who was simply doing his job to see that the health sector is truly reformed and a better working relationship among all the practitioners. Yes, I will look at all he has said critically, analyzed it and with modesty kick off to work. I really wish were! Nothing gladdens a reporter’s heart than seeing his genuine cry heard in the interest of the nation. We at secretsreporters saw a medical strike genocide coming had the state and local government hospitals joined today, that the strike was eventually suspended. We saw our grandparents in the village raining curses on the government for denying them access to these medical workers, most especially the ladies who love to visit a hospital and love being attended to by the ladies in white. While they label our report as being too frank; we just could not be too mild with the lives of Nigerians. What they fail to understand is that should NMA go on a just strike tomorrow, we will still be here to ring the bells in support of them. Oh yes, we will! We‘ve not backed out of the call to relieve the minister of health of his ministerial position, but it’s never late for him to make amend, go back to the drawing table and retrace his steps. The strike has only been suspended, not called off; hence let the agreement and consensus to these deserving requests be granted. This is no call of support for JOHESU but for the general good of the citizenry who will die next after the expiration of four weeks with the agreement not honored. Even the lands have rejected their corpse; Mr. President, do not force them on the land. For now, JOHESU/NUPTAM and the patients in the hospitals that will now see their doctors, Nurses, Medical lab scientist, Imaging Scientist, Dieticians etc back to work treat them, can now pop champagne. These little things matter…[/quote why are u popping champagne when its obvious johesu did not achieve any tin with did strike |
skabber2: mr health minister, please obey first ( the court ruling) and then complain!he can't cause d court ruling is confusing and ll destabilize the health sector |
Dr young: @dnaz, and all ,now that is the typical Nigeria doctors and med students behavior and I hate to be associated with such people.Chillax what do I care besides de ve already made deir conclusions before this thread started. If I am accused of something I am not den I ll like to try dat thing |
Osahon7: is dnaz a lady?? No wonder!! I reserve my comments..Dnt u wish ur girlfriend was hot like ♏E, Dnt u wish ur girlfriend was a doctor like ♏E Don't u even wish u were a doctor like ♏E Don't yaaaa! Don't yaaaa? |
joshuapharm: Did you attend primary school at all? Go through my posts on this thread and u'll understand better. Go to bed plssss.Oh yeah I also graduated with a distinction in my FSLC, not pass level like u, den I scored 546 in my NBEM and proceeded to a Federal Govt college |
Why do you waste your mb on that Dnaz that reasons like a pry six graduate,we are discussing serious issues here and she was talking about jamb and waec, she rarely reads through a comment before pouncing on the poster,do not dignify her by replying her comments, when we want to discuss jamb and waec,we will invite her
Yeah I m beauty and brains. Tongue out |
Osahon7: Basic components of CLINICAL PHARMACIST practiceHow can u prescribe wen u dnt knw wats wrong with the pt. May a pharmacist administer intrathecal triamcinolone to u wen u eventually cme down with osteoarthritis of d lumbosacral spine, may a pharmacist administer intravenous aminophylline to ur child wen he develops breathlessness and Iv hydralazine to ur wife. Wen she has pre eclampsia |
joshuapharm: I understand u're a mature person here... It's a general Nigerian problem.. Pharmacists also av their problems, it myt no just be obvious. But the assumed lordship of our doctors is unbecoming. I don't see why a doc shud be NAFDAC DG. What does he know about drug analysis? What does he know about drug regulation and registration? Except that there are competent pharmacists there taking care of all that. Onyebuchi has to go!!!The man dey kamkpe |
Osahon7: am cleared!!!.now i undastand...Dr pls end dis tussle...@pharmacist, Nurses and MLS in the house, fine u all can prescribe.A MLS make diagnosis wit tests and Pharmacist prescribe the drugs..leave the docs to do the blades work..If dere can be discriminations among surgeons and physicians all in the same NMA,am not surprise seein all dese pharmacist, nurses, mls VS doctors.Mr man u r not a doctor not less a med student. If nurses start prescribing deb Traditional birth attendants ll also start prescribing, Community Health extension workers ll also start prescribing. FYI dere is no Rift b/w surgeons and Physicians except d ones u made up in ur head. Maybe u dnt even knw d difference b/w d two |
Osahon7: Though am in NMA and MDCN camp bt i belive dose bodies a hell of selfish bodies..it was wen i gained adm into medical skool dat i discovered..in d prospectus, for a graduate of Anatomy, physiologyand BCH who wishes to get a MBBS/BDS, dey hav to start frm yr2 wich is anat, physio and BCH class..my question is why cant dose ana, physio and Bch grad start frm the clinical class since dey are already masters of d basic medical courses??My dear let ♏E explain it to u. Granted a person has a Bsc in anatomy, he lacks d required standard in physiology and human biochemistry, if he has physio, he has not passed anat and bch, if he has bch, he has not passed anat and physio. And for u to start clinicals he must pass all three. So u see why he has to start from 2nd year. I hope somebody ll not come out and tell ♏E dat an anatomy graduate knws more anatomy dan a doctor before hippocrates ll rise from d grave to slap d crap out of him/her |
Joanna Sedley: it is no longer doctors prescribtion. Google professionals that have prescribtion powers and seeThe problem is dat u need googles, I think u have Myopia, any symptom of headache, itchy eyes or tearing, has anybody in ur family lineage worn googles. If so I m referring u to an optometrist. Even though I knw what u need but make d optometrist chop food abeg |
bumfem: @Dmaz... u can now see that u are a neonate when it come to discussing the issues without insulting others. U have no idea of current trend globally. Best practices in the developed nations today is collaborative health care approach not egocentric that leads patients and the system no where. There are nursing practitioners in US who are found more at the community levels, they assess and dx and prescribes medication. They are been found at that level to be better than many physicians. Govt of ontario in Canada now clears physiotherapist to co-examine patient at outpatient clinics bc they are better detectors of musculoskeletal disorders...loads of research support this. Pharmacist now to review and adjust accordingl the effect of various medications in patients in the ward because they are far better than physicians at it. I can go on an on... In UK in Aussie and new zealand. There are highly developed countries who we are looking up to. Their policy and program is about what works and not on ego and fallacy. If I am a neonate, u are a retained product of incomplete abortion, I m coming with my MVA kit to Evacuate u |
Osahon7: WHY ALL DIS UNNECCESSARY NOISE? THE DENTAL SURGEONS(THOUGH ALSO MEMEBERS OF NMA) DONT DEY DO GENERAL SURGERY AND GENERGY MEDICINE? PAEDATRICS,LABORATORY MEDICINE ETC EXCEPT O and G.. Wats d big deal dere??pls its time we end all dese power tussule..the pharmacist want to be CMD, fine,y dont we give dem a shot??Dentists are doctors so they can do whatever they like. I rather have a dentist managing my illness not a nurse or lab technician |
bumfem: @Dmaz... u can now see that u are a neonate when it come to discussing the issues without insulting others. U have no idea of current trend globally. A nurse practitioner had to close her clinic wen d doctor he was working with left d clinic Nowhere in the world does a pharmacist prescribe u r just telling lies. Y'all shuld chill and serve ur master. A catechist cannot claim to be a priest even if he can recite d mass he can't celebrate it nor touch holy communion |
joshuapharm: U're wrong sir.. The word prescription has the symbol 'Rx' and the meaning 'recipere' or 'take thou'. So you see it has no peculiarity to med docs. The many other underlying factors u spoke about are the reasons y u shud seek a Rxcist's advise b4 u prescribe although not in all cases. When it comes to cases like chemotherapy, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, the pharmacist must be sought. There are underlying factors involved in the prod of drugs. Like I advised sum1 on anoda thread to stick with one brand of nitroglycerin for angina because of d issue of bioequivalence. Cooperation is very key. Very very key.Its not necessary its d doctor dat knows what's best for the patient. If anytin happens we ll accept d responsibility. I tell u most solemnly a pharmacist does not knw how to prescribe so he shuldnt. Prescription is not d same for every patient |
Just came back from work to discover u all have been spewing nonsense on this thread. Anyway make I chop 1st |
Joanna Sedley: as in jack of all .......... And master of.........Jack of all and master of all |
I wuld also like to educate u more. Pathology has 5 parts, there are Histopathology or anatomic pathology, Chemical pathology, Haematology,Medical Microbiology and Parasitology and Finally Immunology |
joshuapharm: The question here is what did u do in school that gives u right to prescribe that other health professionals didn't do? Just mention, let's try to be objective now. How m I even sure I'm arguing with a med doc sef?We read anatomy not ANA 202,301 or 322 Physiology and not PSI 201,302,etc Biochemistry not BCH 211 etc We also read PATHOLOGY which summarises lab science, Pharmacology not 301 222 302 401, and in addition we read Radiiology, anaesthesiology, Ophthalmology, dermatology, E.N.T, paediatrics, Obstetrics and gynaecology, internal medicine and surgery, we also read community medicine, Primary health care and family medicine. Yeah we Knw everything abt our patients |
joshuapharm: Lalaamed really disappointed me on this thread, I use to av respect for whoever he or she is. Our doctors need to av their heads re-examined. Our patients also av a fault, in that they don't know their rights.Who ll examine our heads? Maybe lab technicians |
