Like I said, good works will be rewarded definitely. When the Bible says "well done good & faithful servant" it's obviously someone who has done their work diligently & that's why the Bible talks of a crown of life.Like I said good deeds are good but they cannot earn one salvation. There's a reward for them but they solely can't earn one salvation.
No one is saying good works alone will earn u salvation.

You should understand that the Pastor is not a man but an office. God use some men who find themselves in this particular office and it is one of the reasons some 'Pentecostals' believe the man in the office easily.

So the Bible is false because purgatory wasn't mentioned or 'taught'?

The Bible is false because it condemns the worship of graven images?

The Bible is false because it does not deitify Mary as an entity to be worshipped but rather, as a vessel whom was used just as it could have been any other person?

The Bible is false because it does not support praying to dead 'saints' and asking them to intercede on our behalf?

Interesting...
Lol Comprehension is really your problem
I never said Bible is false that is heretical
All scriptures are indeed Profitable ( useful not sufficient ) for reproof and correction of doctrine
But scripture is not the sole authority for our faith. Scripture never says that
The first council of Jerusalem that decided against circumcision for gentiles was definitely unscriptural going by the scriptures of that time

Instead authority was given to the church by Christ and the scripture bear witness to it

if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.

For the Catholic community, it is worse, doctrine is Unscriptural as well as its teachings. Is there a Catholic 'church' that teaches one should pray to God in Jesus' Name rather than go through Mary? [
All Pentecostals are pastor believing including you
There is nothing true about Sola scripture(bible alone) it is a man made doctrine of Luther. It wasn't from Christ or the apostles. Christ left us a Church not the bible. He gave authority to the Church not the bible.

The Catholic community is more or less a cultural group. This is harsh but it's the truth. The group's belief and doctrine far contradicts the Bible, particularly with the deitifying of Mary as a ln entity to be worshipped and petitioned.

Setting up statues in strategic places within and around the church and ascribing worship to them is another.

Asking dead and buried 'saints' to pray and intercede on one's behalf is very much far from the dynamics of prayer in the Christian faith.

I taught in a Catholic school during my service year and one funny thing happened while I was supervising a particular class during examination. Without informing/regard, the entire class rose like programmed robots to chant something. Interestingly, their action was triggered by the sound of some distant clock strikes.

Fundamentalism, just as with the sister religion is quite rampant with the Catholic community. Regardless, this isn't an issue because the group's doctrine, belief, practices and teachings quote negate that of Christ and the Scripture. The worship of the Queen of Heaven is second to none to with the Catholic community.
Pentecostals are not bible believing, they are pastor believing churches

Moreover, the idea that everything an apostle taught orally was eventually reduced to writing is itself an extra-biblical idea. And what of the apostles who never wrote any Scripture? Jesus commands the apostles to “preach,” not write, and only three apostles wrote. What about Jesus himself who left behind no writing – nor any command to write? Matthew 28:20 says that the apostles were to “observe all I have commanded,” but we are told that not all Jesus did and said is in Scripture (Jn. 20:30 and 21:25)! And what of apostolic teachings that seem to have never been written down? The apostle John said, “I have much to write to you, but I do not wish to write with pen and ink. Instead, I hope to see you soon when we can talk face to face” (3 Jn. 13). Paul said likewise in 1 Thess. 3:10. Paul “proclaimed the entire plan of God” in Ephesus for over at least two years (Acts 20:27), yet his letter to them is only 5 short chapters. What else might he have taught them? In 1 Corinthians itself (11:34) Paul says he has more to teach them but he would do it when he arrived – but we are never told what “these other things” were (and have another lost letter in between 1 and 2 Corinthians that probably contained such material if any of his letters did – 2 Cor. 2:4 cf. 7:cool.

Further, the apostles themselves taught from sources outside the Bible. In Acts 17:28, Paul quotes the writings of a pagan poet. In Acts 7:53 Stephen cites an oral tradition that angels gave Moses the Law – one which Paul also taught in Galatians 3:19. Jude 9 and 14-15 both contain material concerning the archangel Michael and Enoch which is taken from extra-biblical sources. In Ephesians 5:14 Paul seems to quote some authoritative source as saying, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” – but this is found nowhere else in the Bible. Matthew goes beyond “what is written” in the Old Testament when he lists prophetic evidence of Jesus (2:23). Jesus Himself quotes a pagan playwright when he blinded Paul on the road to Damascus (Acts 26:14).

Finally, the Early Church had to go well beyond “what is written” when they developed orthodox doctrines (often using pagan philosophical terms to explicate their theology), and of course they went completely beyond “what is written” when they determined Canon of Scripture itself

I would respond to these so called ‘Proofs’ of sola scriptura in the Bible as absured to say the least. For the simple fact that he wasn’t refering to any Gospel. If he even was refering to the Bible it wasn’t the Gospels, probably not even the epistles (the epistles didn’t have the status of scripture at the time), simply because Paul’s epistles were written before any Gospel , hence the fact he never refers to the Gospel as scripture, just ‘preaching’. If a protestant wants to interpret this to mean ‘sola scriptura’ then tell him/her to run to the nearest synagogue. All jokes aside though, sola scriptura is not what this verse teaches, simply because it logically and historically couldn’t, the apostles didn’t practice sola scriptura.

Peace

1Corinthians 4:6
Apologetics Sacred Scripture

"For reasons which will soon become obvious, proponents of sola scriptura don't often turn to 1 Corinthians 4:6. But since it does come up from time to time, Catholics should know how to refute the misuse of this verse.

There are several of ways to demonstrate that 1 Corinthians 4:6 can't rescue sola scriptura from the realm of myth. First, note that none of the Reformers attempted to use this verse to vindicate sola scriptura. In fact, John Calvin says Paul's use of the phrase "what is written" is probably either a reference to the Old Testament verses he quotes within his epistle or to the epistle itself (Commentary on 1 Corinthians 4:6). Not only did Calvin not see in 1 Corinthians any support for sola scriptura, a theory he vociferously promoted, he regarded the verse as obscure at best and of negligible value in the effort to vindicate Protestantism.

Some commentators see in 1 Corinthians 4:6 an allusion to "what is written" in the Book of Life (Ex. 32:32-33, Rev. 20:12). This is quite possibly what Paul had in mind, since the context of 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 is divine judgment (when the Book of Life will be opened and scrutinized). He admonishes the Corinthians against speculating about how people will be judged, leaving it up to "what has been written" in the Book of Life. Although that interpretation of the text is a possibility, being consistent with the rest of Scripture, it is by no means certain.

What is certain is that Paul, in saying, "do not go beyond what is written," was not teaching sola scriptura. If he had, he would have been advocating one of four principles, which are inconsistent with the rest of his theology: (1) Accept as authoritative only the Old Testament writings; (2) accept as authoritative only the Old Testament writings and the New Testament writings penned as of the date Paul wrote 1 Corinthians (circa A.D. 56); (3) accept as authoritative orally transmitted doctrine only until it has been reduced to writing (scripture) and only while the apostles are alive, then disregard all oral tradition and adhere only to what is written; or (4) the most extreme position, accept as authoritative only doctrine that has been reduced to writing.

The difficulties with these options are immediately clear. No Protestant would agree with option one, that the Old Testament is a sufficient authority in matters of doctrine. Nor would he accept option two, for this would mean all New Testament books written after the year 56 would not qualify under the 1 Corinthians 4:6 guideline. Hence, John's Gospel, Acts, Romans, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon, Titus, 1 & 2 Timothy, Hebrews, James, 1 & 2 Peter, 1, 2, & 3 John, Jude, and Revelation would all have to be jettisoned as non-authoritative.

Option three fails because in order for sola scriptura to be a "biblical" doctrine there must be, by definition, at least one Bible verse which says Scripture is sufficient, or that oral Tradition is to be disregarded once Scripture has supplanted it, or that Scripture is superior to oral Tradition. But there are no such verses; and as we'll see, 1 Corinthians 4:6 is no exception.

Option four is likewise untenable because it contradicts Paul's express command in to "Stand fast and hold firm to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours" (2 Thess. 2:15). Thus, for 1 Corinthians 4:6 to support the theory of sola scriptura
The same is true in the case of the Ephesians to whom Paul said, "I did not shrink from proclaiming to you the entire plan of God" (Acts 20:27). This statement undercuts sola scriptura. Paul remained in Ephesus for over two years teaching the faith so diligently that "all the inhabitants of the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord" (Acts 19:10), yet his epistle to the Ephesians is a scant four or five pages and could not even begin to touch upon all the doctrines he taught them orally

Scriptures are to be in harmony right? They can't contradict. From Genesis down to the apostles we are told that Abraham was made righteous by faith and the epistles have these almost on all pages confirming that men are made righteous by faith.

So why is James saying men are justified by faith and works and not faith alone like the other scriptures? Are we dishonest men and women? If not let us face this squarely. No scripture contradicts another but when we come across one that seems to contradict ( because of our misunderstanding) we must interpret contextually.

James started thus in 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory with respect of persons. Apart from stating that the faith of Jesus
does not discriminate against persons, James is bringing to our notice something profound which many ignore which is that the faith we preach is alive and bears fruits. And one of the fruits it does not bear is discrimination. Did you see that? smiley

James is saying if you have the faith of Christ prove it through your works because even the devil believes that there is God. Anybody can claim they have faith but there is only one faith that bears fruits. That is the faith of Jesus, the faith we preach. If you claim to have the faith of Christ and it does not bear fruits/good works in you then your faith is not of Christ but a dead faith.

Can this dead faith save a man? No
Which faith saves? The faith that produces works. If it does not produce works or bears fruits that faith is not alive and cannot save.

vs 14 What does it profit my brethren, though a man say he hath faith and hath no works? can faith save him?

James is saying "in scriptural harmony" that how can a man say he has faith but yet we can't see goodworks or changes in him. It means that man has another faith which cannot save. This faith is a dead one.

vs 17 Even so faith if it hath no works, is dead, being alone.

See this! Remember.
Ephesians 2:10
[b]For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them
UNTO GOOD WORKS. if we don't show good works then our faith is not rooted in Christ but is dead.

Abraham's obedience to offer Isaac upon the altar was the evidence of his faith in God. He wasn't justified by works before God but before men. But he was justified by faith alone before God who searches the hearts unlike men who judge from the outside.
Only God can see faith in us but men need to see our works to confirm our faith.

Works fulfil(show perfectly) faith. This is like saying the bearing of fruits shows seeds beneath the ground we can't see.

vs 21,22,23 Was not Abraham our father justified by works. when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
See thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect.
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God and it was inputted unto him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God

Hahahaha u will not kee me with this ur explanation.
U said a faith that does not bear fruit/ good works is a dead faith or non saving faith. This is the explanation I ve been waiting for. But it baffles me how u still believe this is not faith and works.
Let's agree that James was talking about a non saving faith.
OK now let's look at James 2:24
A man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
Ur own interpretation ll be

A man is justified by works and not by(non saving faith) alone
In other word u are suggesting that good works + non saving faith justifies. It is simply not possible and does not make sense
Or

So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
James 2:17

So( Non saving ) if it has no works is dead.
Does it mean that non saving faith with works justifies. Still makes no sense
Or
What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says He has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him?
James 2:14

What does it profit my brethren if a man says he has faith(non saving/dead) but has not works ? Can his faith(non saving) save him. What kind of tautology will that be.it makes no sense.
In James 2 , the holy spirit is actually saying that faith alone(justification by faith alone) is dead faith. It may also please u to know that the word faith and alone appear together only once in scriptures and the Holy spirit Rejected it as a Heresy.
Paul was big on faith but he never preached faith alone.
Work out your salvation with fear and trembling
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith WORKING through love.
Galatians 5:6
Paul saved we are saved by grace apart from the works of the law( works of the Torah) Mosaic law. He was against the Jewish gang that wanted the gentiles to observe the customs of the Jews. Works of the law and good works are not the same thing
It's amazing that people misunderstood Paul's message from then thus prompting Peter to react.
And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
2 Peter 3:15

speaking of this as He does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures.
2 Peter 3:16

Finally the holy spirit put an end to this heresy through James.
Faith without works is dead
A man is justified by works and not faith alone.

This is too clear.there is no disharmony with Paul unless u misinterpret paul

Catholicism is paganism Yea true but @bold Lol Nopss. Mary didn't fight for her salvation. Likewise every other Christian. Salvation is by grace through faith alone. Paul only came to Rome in chains. He had already been arrested and wasn't released if u read the acts of the apostles to the end. He was still under arrest whilst making the voyage to Rome. He sure wrote to the Roman Church and was influential to them . Tradition says he arrived Rome for his appeal to Cesar and was under house arrest until his death. It was Peter Who later moved from Antioch to Rome to become its first bishop. Tradition also says Paul avoided crucifixion and being let to be mauled by beasts in the Coliseum only because he was a Roman Citizen. Paul was eventually beheaded, An execution more fitting for a Roman Citizen. Peter on the other hand was not a Roman citizen, he didn't have Paul's privilege . He was eventually apprehended and was sentenced to be crucified but he opted to be crucified upside down because he wasn't worthy to die exactly like Christ

The Septuagint was among the books found in the dead sea scrolls. The Septuagint contains the deuteron canonicals or what u ignorantly call apocrypha

God mercy for u for calling that thing holy.
by calling that stuff holy u put it on the same pedestal with God. How can u say a common chain made by someone is holy?
Most people that wear a picture of their pastor around their neck don't tag the necklace or picture holy. And they don't involve the picture in prayer.
Even that guy on the rosary is not a picture of Jesus, he was just an actor. U guys don't even know the kind of life he lived, and yet u wear his picture around ur neck and call it Holy rubbish
. the day one guy told me I will run mad if I tear it that's the day I showed him that that stuff was rubbish
U call the bible holy. U put it in the same pedestal with God. U worship the bible. This ur principle and u ll be judged by it

Does the blood of Jesus automatically stop us from sinning? If it does not. Do we continue to sin? if we must not ,what do we do when we sin after being saved by his blood

OP is obsessed, possessed and insane. How people cook up insane theories about the Catholic church amazes me. Several theories on this church that even contradict each other. One ll wonder what drives their this pure disdain on this cradle of Christianity. Either the Devil drives their emotions or they are just awed by the mystery behind it which they love to hate

The Rise of The Anti Christ - The future world ruler.

"And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy". (Revelation 13:1).

The anti Christ will be revealed after the seven trumpet judgment of God. The opening text describes him as having seven heads and ten horns. "...The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth". (Revelation 17:9). This description helps us to predict where the anti Christ will operate from. The description fits the city of Rome for it is the only city sitting on seven mountains geographically.

The ten horns represent ten European States that will come together to form a revived Roman Empire which will have its headquarter in Rome. The present political structure in Europe is proof that such confederation will happen soon. Satan will confer on him all his power and authority. This revived Roman Empire will be the new Super power on earth. It will subdue all nations including America and Russia.

He will be worshipped as god. The Bible further said that, "And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven". (Revelation 13:5-6).

It is important to know at this point that the Jews are the only Saints remaining on earth. The anti Christ will persecute the Jews until a Seven years peace treaty will be entered into between him and the false Christ the Jews will take as their Messiah. This seven years is the last week of Daniel's seventy week revealed to him - Daniel 9:24-27.

The great tribulation period the Jews will Jews will experience will soon be fulfilled as predicted by our Lord Jesus in the twenty fourth Chapter of the book of Matthew.

shocked

Thank you for that,

I also forgot to say this;
One thing explains the extreme fanatism and supposed tendency to violence of both the Catholics and the Muslims
When matters bordering on their faith or religious tenets are discussed.

The Catholics fought a lot in the Crusades.
The Muslims fought a lot in Jihads.
Its even because of the Crusades that Europe remained Christian. If not for the Europeans we ll all have been islamized
Christianity Etc › Re: The Deception Of Simple Faith In The Finished Work Of Christ. by Dnaz(m): 7:02am On Jul 07, 2017
An2elect2:
Most times people in reaction to legalistic law keeping Pharisaical Christians (who subtly deny the grace of God and seek to obtain righteousness through the law thereby denying the finished work of Christ on the cross.) make phrases like this: THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS SIMPLE. CHRIST HAS ACCOMPLISHED EVERYTHING. THE ONLY THING IS SIMPLE FAITH IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST. Wheew! Now what's wrong with this? Isn't this what salvation is about?

Yes there isn't anything wrong with Faith in Christ and His finished work. After all we are saved by grace through faith. We are justified by faith. We live by faith etc However there is a big difference between SIMPLE FAITH and SAVING FAITH. and you guessed right, it's SAVING FAITH the Bible is talking of!

Saving faith is simply a faith that is authored by God, comes from God and is perfected by God. It is a faith that conforms us to Christ and through it we learn obedience. This saving faith is not inborn i.e It isn't natural. It does not come by mental persuasion but by (spirit) hearing of the word of God. It is a gift GIVEN WHEN THE MAN IS NOT SEARCHING. We can't prompt God for it. It happens "out of the blue". An unexpected quickening.

Can someone believe in the finished work of Christ and still not be saved? POSSIBLE. There are many with such faith but have no experience of the new life. They walk about trusting in their faith in the finished work ~~faith in faith~~ (*shudders*)
It is because of such, that many legalistic law keeping Christians question Christ's grace.

A man says he believes in the finished work of Christ and he believes salvation is by grace. But this man has not the substance of the hope he professes. There was never a time he saw how sinful he was, mourned over his sins and had a changed mind and will. This man has never been brought to his knees before a Holy God.

Deception is very real. And if any man thinks he is above deception, he has not known anything. That's why we are to prayerfully examine ourselves in the light of the scriptures. Salvation isn't something you "decide to have" Faith isn't something you can will.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
This is Sound teaching. God bless you

Jesus said to the Sadducees, “that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.”
