There is nothing wrong in using private armies as long as you their employer has some level of control over them. U.S uses those resident in the U.S like Blackwater's who are under some form of U.S regulations. Same with France Legionnaire. South African mercenaries are byproducts of the apathied SA army. You don't expect them to have unalloyed support for your country. |

MrRichmond: It's not far-fetched to think that intel gathering, interpretation, and deciphering was part of the objectives carried out by STTEP. During the course of their previous missions, they must have been able to gather intelligence on Boko Haram's future targets or possible plans. This info must've been relayed to FG, but was promptly rejected for reasons best known to them; resulting in the heavy losses at Metele. Do you think Intel of 2015 in a constantly changing conflict situation like the one we have can still be useful in this present time? Say something else. If the Intel they claim to have was accurate, it could only mean one thing - STTEP is still there working for another party-Boko haran. Mercenaries are not charitable. |

Recruiting mercenaries to fight a war on your own soil is one of the dumbest thing GEJ did as Machiavelli rightly wrote that a "mercenary, having no allegiance, will eventually hold the prince who employs him hostage for increasing amounts of money". |

Loosing lives in the battle field calls for sober reflection on the part of compatriots. The habit of dancing on the graves of our fallen heroes for political gains should stop. The STTEP Chairman claims the service of his company was discontinued by PMB regime probably on inception. So one would wish to know the channel through which they tried to pass the said Intel. Most importantly, how where they able to gather such intel when their contract had already been terminated. Where they contracted by another party in the same theater of conflict? According to quora on whether mercenaries are bad people? - "You've had a drink with them as well. Never trust a mercenary. Good people or bad people are irrelevant. Mercenaries are in business."https://www.quora |

Buhari’s govt ignored intelligence warnings about Boko Haram, says S’African mercenary group November 25 2018 Specialised Tasks, Training, Equipment and Protection International (STTEP), a South African mercenary company, says President Muhammadu Buhari rejected intelligence warnings about operations of Boko Haram in Borno.
STTEP was employed by former president Goodluck Jonathan in January 2015 to assist the Nigerian army in rescuing the Chibok girls.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Eeben Barlow, STTEP chairman, said Nigerian soldiers have been reaching out for help since his company’s services were terminated.
Barlow is speaking out in the wake of the deadly killing of Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram insurgents.
The latest attack in Melete village, Borno, is believed to have led to the death of no less than 100 soldiers.
Weighing in on the development, Barlow said Buhari’s administration did not allow his company to complete the objective of “degrading and destroying” Boko Haram in Borno.
He wrote: “There is, in a purely military sense, no such thing as a ‘technical defeat’—something the President, as an ex-military man ought to know. Sadly, he also chose to make the successes of 7 Infantry Division and 72 Mobile Strike Force (MSF) his own, when it wasn’t.
“President Buhari and his team were, however, part of the political leader group that led the vocal charge about STTEP’s presence in Nigeria. Indeed, they made it known that the company’s presence would not be tolerated under his office.
“The initial 3-phase campaign strategy (known as ‘Operational Anvil’) to degrade and destroy BH in Borno State, was rejected by his advisors.
“Many of the men we trained as part of 72 Mobile Strike Force have remained in contact with us (STTEP), pleading for our return to Nigeria. They have also told us that they have been used to a point of exhaustion.
“Prior to, and following our departure from Nigeria, we issued numerous intelligence warnings to his government. These intelligence warnings were all rejected in favour of a false belief. Neighbouring countries were advised not to listen to us as it was claimed to be a cheap attempt to ‘get a contract’. Chad, Cameroon and Niger are now also reaping the benefits of rejecting intelligence in favour of an agenda-driven narrative.”
In a statement released on Saturday by his media team, the president described the attack as a national tragedy. https://www.thecable.ng/south-african-mercenaries-buhari-ignored-intelligence-warnings |

Hmmm.
PDP is becoming jittery and unsettled, I believe the Atiku group have run Atiku through the mill of mock debates and the outcome wasn't encouraging . They are not sure of Atiku holding firm in a lengthy combative debate that will involve the likes of PMB Madam Obi, Donald Duke, Sowore. Also their initial hope that PMB may likely not show up for a debate thereby giving them a cheap campaign point is turning out otherwise. PMB will show up for the debate, that I am very sure of. Can somebody tell me when Atiku delivered an impromptu address lasting 10mins or more or any occasion he was interviewed by any foreign media.
Atiku has always believed in the power of money to buy his way through not through any intelligent engagement. ATIKU MUST DEBATE WITH ALL PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS |

safarigirl: corruption is a trait in 98% of Nigerians
PDP or APC, all of them are corrupt. Let us stop going sanctimonious in this country as if the entire country isn't rotten.
The Police men collecting bribes are not in PDP. The fuel attendants that tamper with the pumps to cheat people are not in PDP. The housemaids stealing from their employers are not in PDP. The customs officers at the ports, collecting bribes to release banned products are not in PDP. The directors in civil service collecting bribes to secure jobs for others are not in PDP. The okada men, inflating the price of trips are not in PDP. The banker siphoning funds from customers accounts are not in PDP. The lecturers collecting bribes to pass students are not in PDP
Ganduje is not in PDP Oshiomole is not in PDP Babachir Lawal is not in PDP Timipre Sylva is not in PDP Tinubu is not in PDP Orji Uzor Kalu is not in PDP Akpabio is not in PDP Osibanjo is not in PDP
These are some faces of corruption that we see everyday. These people are not PDP members, a Nigerian that is not corrupt is a rare find these days. Even the few who want to stay out of corruption, wallow in poverty. They are ridiculed at work, they are sabotaged at work .
The sooner we all stop deceiving ourselves in this country and realise that this talk of corruption is useless in a hopelessly corrupt nation, the faster we will move forward with solutions.
The orientation of an average Nigerian is terrible and encourages corruption. This has nothing to do with any party Prior to the emergence of PDP at Aso Rock in 99 corruption was contained within bearable boundaries. The advent of the 4th republic was GOD'S gift to Nigerians for years of oppressive military rule but the emergence of the PDP as the ruling party was the classical DEVIL'S way of opposing GOD'S good intention |

gare: Are you the Spoke person for the Government? Can you back up all you have mention above ? If they know as you have mentioned why the investigation, Guy when we see what is bad we should not take side irrespective of party affiliation, what i see most people do here is to support their party be it bad or Good, this is wrong, it has nothing to do with town crier, if there was a Justification for the withdrawal it should be clearly started and they should have gone through the right channel.
But when you do this without the knowledge of others that should be in the Know it calls for suspicion, this NLNG has being used by the previous administration to make illegal withdrawals was think PMB should have stopped that instead his own is worse and still he come to tell us everyday he will jail people who is he going to jail, when everyone around him is stealing . We are hyperventilating on an issue that is shrouded in obscurity. If the NASS could detect withdrawal of such sum, they have the constitutional power to determine its legality and the purpose for such withdrawal. Until such is done, one cannot make any judgement. |
Politics › Re: Malabu Oil Scam: UK Court Repatriates $73m To FG by docadams: 1:33pm On Nov 24, 2018 |
gare: Twenty-two withdrawals totaling 3.12 billion dollars were made from the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividends account domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the last three years.
NAN reports that the committee was looking into the 1.05 billion dollars that the NNPC admitted withdrawing from the NLNG dividend account to “augment under-recoveries” in the importation of petrol.
I believe the above will put you to sleep I hope you can see the difference between this post of yours and the OP's. You have accounted for almost half of the money. Hope you know under a recoveries is another parlance for subsidy. Go back to the last fuel crisis when NASS mandated NNPC to "do everything possible to resolve and prevent future reoccurrences. Also go back the last subsidy regime under GEJ, subsidies were scheduled to be paid as at when due not allowed to accumulate and could vary based on international price of crude.. All this accounts for the figure you quoted. NASS may not have been informed as at when the cost was incurred but it doesn't invalidate the purpose it was spent. Again, if you search a little further, you will get a drift of what the balance was used for. NASS huff and puff at nothing. Whenever they are onto something serious Nigerians don't require a town crier. |
