"Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret." Jn. 7:8-10 He probably didn't see the bolded word because he is a freethinker.

zionmade:Does it mean that they were not among the "all" which the Bible said have sinned? Remember that where there is no law, there is no transgression(Rom. 4:15). And if they were under the "all", which law did they transgress, bearing in mind that sin is the transgression of the law(1 Jn. 3:4)? |
Protestants do not realize that by observing Sunday, they accept the authority of the spokesperson of the Church, the Pope” (Our Sunday Visitor, February 5, 1950). “Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change [Saturday Sabbath to Sunday] was her act... And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things” (H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons). “Sunday is our mark of authority… the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact” (Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept 1, 1923). |

zionmade:You don't read your Bible. Read Hebrews 11. The just, from Adam until now, lives by faith. |
Cardinal James Gibbons,The Faith of Our Fathers (Ayers Publishing, 1978): 108: But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single lineauthorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify. The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1957): 50: Q. Which is the Sabbath day?Chancellor Albert Smith for Cardinal of Baltimore Archdiocese, letter dated February 10, 1920: If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath day by God is Saturday. In keeping the Sunday, they are following a law of the Catholic Church.cc: zionmade |
zionmade:I have proven to you that GOD calls the 10 Commandments His own Law, while He referred to the ceremonial laws as the Law of Moses(2 Kings 21:8 ). How do you love GOD? Exod. 20:6 and 1 Jn. 5:3 give a clue. It is not true that you must be circumcised before you keep the 10 Commandments. Where does the Bible teach that? |
zionmade:Because sin is the transgression of the Law. You sin if you willfully break GOD's Law(1 Jn. 3:4). Also, you don't love GOD if you don't keep His commandments(1 Jn. 5:3; 3:24; 2:3). Keeping GOD's commandments is the duty of man, not the Jews alone(Eccl. 12:13). |
zionmade:Read Exod. 20:10 and Eccl. 12:13 to see that the law was to be kept by the gentiles too. |
zionmade:Calm down. "Circumcision" is a symbol for the Jews, while "uncircumcision" is a symbol for the Gentiles. Now apply this understanding to 1 Cor. 7:19 |
Deut. 4:36; 5:22, "Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: ...These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me." It's important to notice that after God wrote the Ten Commandments, he "added no more" to this Law, yet God gave Moses statutes, precepts, judgments, and ordinances afterwards. If the Mosaic law was part of the Ten Commandments, there would be a contradiction here, because God did add more to this law! But there was no contradiction, because God considered the Ten Commandments to be a separate Law. The Ten Commandments were spoken by God himself to the people, so that God would instruct them. There was no mediator involved! Moses was not the mediator of the Ten Commandments. But he was the mediator of the sacrificial laws(Exod. 33:9; 2 Chron. 34:14). cc: zionmade. |
zionmade, A clear distinction is made between the 10 Commandments and the ceremonial law. "And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God" (Exodus 31:18). "And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables" (Exodus 32:16). The 10 Commandments were written by GOD Himself on tablets of stones(signifying durability), and they were put INSIDE the Ark. Now, read Deuteronomy 31:24-26 to see that: 1. Moses was the one who wrote the ceremonial laws in a book, whereas GOD Himself wrote the 10 Commandments on stones. 2. The book of the law written by Moses was put BESIDE the Ark, whereas the stones were inside the Ark. 3. The law which Moses wrote was a witness against Israel. This was never said about the 10 Commandments. |
"For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law." James 2:11. I believe the Person also said "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy..." |
zionmade:Listen to Paul: "Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good." Rom. 7:12 "Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God." 1 Cor. 7:19 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10 |
zionmade:You never answered my questions. Instead, you're trying, by your answer, to imply that GOD is inconsistent. GOD could have rained down fire and brimstone upon Amalek, but He chose to eliminate them through human agency. Thus, it was GOD executing Judgment on Amalek, not Israel killing them. The 10 Commandments are different from the ritual laws. |
CatfishBilly:Chai, no wonder. Only akintom's level of reasoning can be this ridiculous. |
CatfishBilly:Wait, are you akintom? |
[s] CatfishBilly:[/s] Lies can win Nobel prizes too. Go and read the silly assumptions upon which radiometric dating is based. |
zionmade:Rom. 3:23 says that all have sinned. 1 Jn. 3:4 says that sin is the transgression of the Law. Now if those who are not Israelites have sinned too, which law did they transgress? What about those who lived before Sinai? If they have sinned too, which law did they transgress? Bear in mind that there is no sin where there is no law(Rom. 4:15), and that sin is the transgression of the law. |
Papist:Sunday is not the day of the Lord. Certainly, the Lord never claimed Sunday as His day anywhere in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Check Isa. 58:13 to see the day He claims as His, and which we can Biblically call "the Lord's day". |
4kings:Both relative dating as well as radiometric dating are based on assumptions. Therefore, their conclusions cannot be trusted. My point is, those civilizations never existed which were said to be around the time of the flood, or even before Adam. |
4kings:How were the antiques dated? Who wrote the civilization history? Were they eyewitnesses? Was any of the people who wrote the history there when those civilizations existed? |
zionmade:No, I obey GOD because I love Him and because He saved me(Jn. 14:15). Jesus surely regarded the Sabbath day highly(Matt. 5:17-19), and as a follower of Christ one has no reason to do otherwise. Yes, I strive to obey the 10 Commandments, as Eccl. 12:13 and 1 Cor. 7:19, among many other passages, instruct us. |
zionmade:Do you think Christianity is freestyle? What makes you think that GOD would accept your own choices over His in worshiping Him? Who told Christians to disregard the Sabbath? If it is not GOD, "Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?" Lam. 3:37 |
Are we willing to face the consequences of this kind of exhaustive study? Here is where our prejudice will be tested! Can we open our minds completely to whatever this objective search reveals? These are not trick questions. Personally, I do not care which day is found to be the Sabbath. If the Bible teaches it, I will gladly keep Monday, Thursday, Friday, or Sunday. Long ago, I decided to be a Christian and to follow the Word of God wherever it would lead, regardless of my feelings. It makes no difference to me which day I keep holy, as long as it is the one commanded in the Bible! I hope you feel the same way. I therefore urge you to follow the link in the next post to examine of every single reference in the New Testament that mentions the first day of the week. |
The most honest way I know to approach this subject is to take a look at absolutely everything that the Bible says about the first day of the week. There are only eight texts in the New Testament that refer to Sunday, and by carefully studying these verses we can be certain that all the evidence for consideration is before us. If there is any biblical authority for keeping the first day of the week, it will have to be found in one of these verses. |

CatfishBilly:The whole of creation groans under the curse of sin(see Romans 8:22). To Adam was committed the earth and all that it contains, and so his choices affected the earth with all contained in it. |
CatfishBilly:I knew it when I realized that the Bible was always true. |
