Syncan:The catholic church didn't write the Bible. They just collected the books written by inspired men of GOD together. And even if they did not collect them together, the Scriptures would somehow still be available to the people of GOD. So, we didn't accept the books of the Bible because the catholic church prescribed them: we accepted them because we know their authors were inspired by GOD(2 Tim. 3:16). |
princeSammyz:You can understand it as His life as the pre-incarnate Lawgiver. The Law has stated a treatment to be meted out to its transgressor(which is death). Only two entities can receive this treatment: the sinner or the Lawgiver in place of the sinner. The treatment was meted out to Jesus(the Lawgiver). But then Jesus died without committing any sin. Therefore GOD raised Him from the dead. Indeed the glorious, pre-incarnate Son of GOD, who is GOD, died, and what we have now is Jesus Christ our Lord, who will exist forever now in His glorious body, bearing the marks of the nails. |
James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore (1877-1921), in a signed letter. "Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer yes. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day -Saturday - for Sunday, the first day? I answer yes . Did Christ change the day'? I answer no! "Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons" Syncan, what do you have to say? |
In the Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, we read: Q. Which is the Sabbath day? A. Saturday is the Sabbath day. Q. Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? A. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea, (AD 336) transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday…. Q. Why did the Catholic Church substitute Sunday for Saturday? A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday, because Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday, and the Holy Ghost descended upon the Apostles on a Sunday. Q. By what authority did the Church substitute Sunday for Saturday? A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday by the plenitude of that divine power which Jesus Christ bestowed upon her! —Rev. Peter Geiermann, C.SS.R., (1946), p. 50. Syncan, what do you have to say? |
“Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change [Saturday Sabbath to Sunday] was her act... And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things” (H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons). “Sunday is our mark of authority… the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact” (Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept 1, 1923). Syncan, what do you have to say? |
Syncan:Paul says that the doers of the law shall be justified. Rom. 2:13. How can you say that Paul and the apostles did not keep the Sabbath? |
Syncan:Oga Peter calls Paul's writings Scriptures. 2 Pet. 3:15-16 |
Syncan:Did the apostles keep Sunday in place of Saturday? |
Syncan:Who's playing around? Peter called Paul's writings Scripture(2 Pet. 3:16). Moreover Gibbons says that from Genesis to Revelation not a single line authorizes the sanctification of Sunday. What are you saying? |
Syncan:Continue editing, you hear? Cardinal Gibbons said that "THE SCRIPTURES" enforce the observance of Saturday. Do you agree that the catholic church is going against the Scriptures? |
Syncan:Cardinal Gibbons did not say that only the OT enforces the observance of Saturday. He said "the Scriptures" which include the NT. Do you agree with him? |
Syncan:Cardinal Gibbons said that the Scriptures enforce a religious observance of Saturday. Do you agree with him? |
Syncan, but you agree with Cardinal Gibbons that no single line from Genesis to Revelations authorizes the sanctification of Sunday, but that instead the Bible encourages us to keep the Sabbath? |
Cardinal Gibbons, in Faith of Our Fathers, 92nd ed., p. 89, freely admits, “You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we [the Catholic Church] never sanctify.” Syncan, what do you have to say? |
Syncan:Oga, you never read that link. If you did, you wouldn't have posted this lie, because that gathering took place on a Saturday evening. You only quote verses out of context to support your lies. Acts 2:46 tells us that they broke bread DAILY, not on Sunday. Stop believing the lies that the catholic church tells you. |
Syncan:Check the fourth post on the first page of the thread. |
Syncan:Does Jn. 20:1 say that Sunday is sacred? Follow that link and read the article, because I'm sure you didn't read it. |
princeSammyz:Well, the contentious clause in your post is "He was buried as the sin bearer" which is not true. Understand that His life as GOD is the ransom. Though sinless, He was dealt with as if He was a collection of all the sinners. Immediately His life was snuffed out, the demands of the Law was met. Indeed, He proclaimed "It is finished" before He died. He was resurrected because He was sinless. He gave up His glorious pre-incarnate life, and now lives, not in His pre-incarnate state, but with a body(Heb. 10:5). |
princeSammyz:Mind you, even the first death was the wage of sin. Jesus knew that when He comes to this earth, He will be killed. But then He accepted the plan that his death will be the atonement for sin(trangression of the law). He could have died, and yet His life would not be an atonement for the sins of man, you know. He had His father place the weight and the penalty for sin on Him as He hung on the cross, and that crushed out His life within three hours(crucified criminals normally stay up to a week on the cross.) In His pre-incarnation state, He could not die. That was why He had to take on flesh. |
zionmade2:Jesus summarized the whole law into "Love for GOD" and "Love for man". How do you love GOD? Do you know that you will be judged by the 10 Commandments? (James 2:12; 1:25; Psa. 19:7) |
Understand it like this: The Law of GOD was broken. That Law is as sacred as GOD Himself, and only the life of GOD can atone for the transgression of that Law. Jesus, who is GOD(Heb. 1:8 ), took on flesh, because in His Divine state nothing could take His life. As a righteous human being, He gave up His life, agreeing to bear upon Himself the penalty of the transgression of the Law which the people of GOD, by faith, transferred to Him. Jesus, the righteous, sinless man was resurrected because Satan killed Him unjustly. The wages of sin is death, but what of the one who committed no sin? Should the result of sin apply to Him too? NO. To Adam was given the the promise of eternal life if he lived in obedience to GOD. The Second Adam has obtained eternal life because He lived in obedience to GOD. GOD(Jesus) indeed gave up His life. Before His incarnation, He didn't have the body He now has. Jesus will now live forever in a body that bears the marks of the cruel nails, as testimony of His Love. |
zionmade:Jesus and His disciples never went to farm on the Sabbath day. That passage said that Jesus and His disciples were PASSING through a field, and His disciples began to pluck the heads of grains, and to eat. Get your facts right. |
zionmade:I ask you a question based on Rom. 7:4, are you now dead to: "thou shalt have no other gods before me" "thou shalt not make unto thee graven image" "thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain" "remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" "honour thy father and thy mother" "thou shalt not kill" "thou not commit adultery" "thou shalt not steal" "thou shalt not bear false witness" "thou shalt not covet"? "...but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments" Matt. 19:17 |
zionmade:There is only one Lawgiver(James 4:12), which is Jesus Christ. Jesus does not have His own commandments, while His Father has His own different commandments. The 10 Commandments are Jesus' commandments. He was the one that spoke the 10 Commandments to the hearing of the whole of Israel. We know this because Jesus told the Israelites that they have never heard the voice of His Father at any time(John 5:37). Yet Israel heard the voice of GOD at mount Sinai. You now know that it was Christ that spoke the Law at Sinai. Now, you understand that Jesus demands obedience to the 10 Commandments as His commandments in John 14:15. |
zionmade:Jesus never harvested corn on the Sabbath, get your facts right. He only allowed His disciples pluck grains TO EAT BECAUSE THEY WERE HUNGRY! "For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified." Romans 2:13 Rom. 8:3 says Jesus condemned sin(transgression of the law) in the flesh. So, Jesus condemns transgressing the law. |
zionmade:Jesus was without sin(Heb. 4:15). Sin is the transgression of the law(1 Jn. 3:4). Therefore Jesus never transgressed the law. Rom. 7:4 does not mean we are no longer to obey the 10 Commandments. "Is the law sin? GOD forbid..." Rom. 7:7 "Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good." Rom. 7:12 "What then? shall we sin(transgress the law), because we are not under the law, but under grace? GOD forbid." Rom. 6:15, emphasis added. Don't be deceived: only those who do the commandments of GOD will enter in through the gates into that city.(Rev. 22:14). |
zionmade:If you claim Jesus broke the Sabbath, then you mean that Jesus sinned.(See 1 Jn. 3:4). |
randomperson:I know you wish you could find any fault in the Bible. Continue trying.
|
zionmade:A newborn baby is sinless, and if he/she dies an infant, he/she will be resurrected when Christ comes back again. The doctrine of original sin is unbiblical. The Bible says that the son shall not suffer for the sins of the father. Jesus never broke the Sabbath, even though the Jews accused Him of doing so. The Sabbath day is a day of relieving burdens, and what better way to relieve people's burden is there than to heal their infirmities and feed their souls with the Word of GOD? The disciples plucked grains from the field TO EAT! The Sabbath day is not a day to go hungry. |
