After the Civil war many towns and villages in Port Harcourt had their names changed. The issue in contention were the terms Umu and Rumu

in Igbo Umu means children or descendants of. And a town is often named after its founder e.g Umuahia

The same appears to operate in Ikwerre land and many places like Umuola,Umuomasi and Umukurushi had their names changed after the end of the civil war to Rumuola, Rumuomasi and Rumukurushi.

Many Igbos argue that this was an attempt an denying their Igbo identity forced on the Ikwerre by the Federal government

Many Ikwerres argue that the word in Ikwerre language is Rumu and not Umu and that under the domineering Igbo influence in the government of the the Eastern Region the names were forcefully changed to Umu and that they we
re only revertin to the original forms. This change had happened ,they claim,in the memory of those alive and whilst it was successful in official documents ,the Ikwerre people persisted with Rumu in their speech and oral tradition

in the same topic, someone was saying that we lack human development index.
that language is very insulting to the collective people of Niger Delta. the eastern people where busy talking how they have high human development index in their region, but according to the latest poverty report from NBS, it stated that the south south region have least poverty, but the case of the south east is different.
the south east can't have high human development index and the rate of poverty is also high. that tell you that the south south have high human development index compare to the south east. Delta state came second with the lowest poverty rate, very close to Lagos state. every region accept the latest NBS report, even the northern region didn't complain about it, but the east where accusing the west concerning the report.
please you people should stop using the words.

I was just pointing out that hypocrisy. Everyone should stay on their own lane. Don’t bring up Niger delta republic only when biafra is discussed but never ever bring it up any other time or even have a movement for it.

Every ethnic group has that minority at the periphery who don't identify strongly with rest of their kits and kind. But then Igbo must be different and must be talked about because they are special. Even the small urhobo has okpe and isoko who reject the urhobo tag. how much more if urhobo were to be the size of Igbo. The idoma/igede/agatu is there. ijaw/nembe/ogbia is there. Ibibio/annang/efik/ekoi , ogoni/eleme is there etc. These ones I mentioned reside in one state and manage to reject sharing identity with those they see daily. you can't compare them to Igbo's carved into several states. Even among some of those in Ika who deny their igboness none reject Biafra.

The reason why nobody will take you serious is because of your unbelievable double standards. You claim Igbos want to annex you while including other ethnic groups that share nothing with you in your audio Niger delta republic. you claim Igbo's want to dominate you while stylishly adding some Igboland into your fantasy republic. You have learnt how to use your shout of Igbo domination as a camouflage to steal delta Igbo lands. Everyone knows how the Delta state creation movement of the old delta province included Urhobo/itshekiris/isoko and ijaw forcefully attempted to annex ukwuani into their Delta state. Itsay shagay even argued that Ukwuani were more "comfortable being with them" than their Anioma brothers. They needed ukwuani apparently because of land and natural resources while arguing that the other Igbo's should be kicked into Anambra or better still remain in Edo state who they share affinity with (as if it wasn't urhobos who share affinity with Edo)

Most of you think that the fact that you are called minority gives you the right to deny members of majority groups their own right, thus you have weaponized your minority status.

Anyone who hears you mention of how Igbo's want to do this and that will think you have heaven and earth to offer but some of you need Igbo's more than Igbo's need you.

I used to criticize KANU for adding none Igbo's into Biafra until I learnt one thing -a paradox where the one thing that can make the ethnic groups of the Niger delta to join Biafra is Igbo and the one thing that can make them not to join Biafra is Igbo. The vocal minority among the Niger delta tribes who have personal issues with some Igbo's and are therefore jealous and hateful, usually use the fear of Igbo dominance to scare other tribes against Igbo. But the silent majority among the Niger Delta ethnic groups know they don't get along as individual tribes in Niger delta rather the only thing that binds them together is the Igbo. urhobo for instance is hated by all the tribes in Delta for their domineering attitude. Ijaw hates them, itshekiri hates them, they don't get along with anioma. Even the urhobo themselves complain about how ijaw try to expand/grab land in the region and how they regard Niger Delta struggle as ijaw struggle, leading to ijaw getting most amnesty programme slots.

The Ibibio efik are not different but I will not spend time on them.

My point is that you vocal minority have mastered a way of bullying pro Biafrans silent majority among your people. you vocal minority know how to attack Igbo's using your minority status as a weapon of emotional blackmail against Igbo's on Biafran issue. You know quite well that silent majority of Niger delta want Biafra. That is why you lots shout down the idea of referendum. I have seen folks who tell me "we no wan talk now because Biafran agitation never get head". Two of the present senators from Bayelsa come from a family that fought on Biafra side during Biafra war. They won't show their support openly but when you hear the vocal minority talk you will think Biafra is abomination in these areas.

You have no choice. As far as the world is concerned only IPOB is agitating for referendum now. You either campaign for your urhobo tribe and urhobo alone to join Biafra/or reject Biafra. If you reject Biafra we let you go because we won't gain a single thing from you. trust me.Just leave other tribes to decide for themselves.

Everybody will regard you as a drunkard if all you do is to type about Niger delta republic when ever IPOB makes progress on Biafra. The world only count people who stand up to demand what they want not deluded folks who can't even talk on the street about what the claim they want. You have succeeded in Blackmailing emotionally weak folks like pazienza but tough people like us will always be here to cure your type of madness which involves dragging other ethnic groups who don't want you while accusing Igbo's of same.

Niger delta republic is a scam ideology.

Hear me out:

If you pay close attention, you will notice that if you leave those who claim niger delta republic alone, they will never organize and fight for it. They have no single active movement. They don’t even trust or like each other. And if you leave them alone for the next 200 years nothing will change.

BUT

The moment you mention Biafra, all of a sudden, they won’t stop disturbing you with Niger delta republic as if it’s something real.

It’s like how the “all lives matter” protesters come out when “black lives matter” protesters gather in the USA.

I Never Knew Onitsha Had A Large Body of Water. Thought SE Was Landlocked? God! When I saw the large body of water in Onitsha and waterways, I', almost cried. My wife just held me because I was angry at yoruba media propaganda for years.
