Isreal is like the hunter's dog that has stubbornly decided it wants to get lost. E no dey hear word.
You attacked Iran's Embassy and thought it won't go unanswered?
Remember Isreal has over the years killed Iranian generals, leading scientists without Iran responding. Now, Iran has shown that your Iron dome can be breeched even with the help of Western Allies, you still want cause war.

To be honest, Seun is the reason why tribalism and Religious intolerance has exploded on nairaland. Nairaland would have been greater than the way it is if not for the way Seun has handled it.
It makes no sense for one to have to swear to be a Muslim before you can comment on matters regarding Islam.
I think this is why people can't reason rationally or objectively on issues as it concerns the Middle East.

You don't have to be a Muslim before you empathise with Palestine. It is just a humane thing to do. Most people supporting Isreal on here have never stepped out of Nigeria before, talk less of visiting Isreal. They see it as a Christian vs Muslim matter when the people of Isreal are Jews and fuxking hate both Christians and Muslims.
Finally, I have never seen videos of Palestinians protesting against Hamas, but numerous videos abound of Jews protesting against this war/zionism. If their own people are against what IDF is doing, shouldn't that tell you something?

@seun, do better.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Iran Has Launched Drone Attacks Against Israel by dohyn(m): 1:03am On Apr 14
Iran says it acted under Article 51 of the UN Charter which gives it a right to retaliate for the Isreali attack on its Embassy and it has concluded it's response.
It's now left to the West to reign in Isreal and talk sense to netanyahu. You can't attack Iran's Embassy, kill 13 people including a high ranking general and not expect a retaliation.
If US has sense, they will try to calm things down now. Cos Iran is a bad modafucker and doesn't need the help of allies like Isreal does to fight a war.
A word is enough for the wise.

Isreal committed a blunder by attacking Iran's Embassy. That's tantamount to declaring war against Iran, so it's difficult for the West to defend Iran otherwise they will look hypocritical.
Of which the West's hypocrisy has been brought to fore since this war started.

Black brained idiots.
Even the citizens of Isreal are protesting before Knesset against the genocide committed in their name but one fool in Ajegunle thinks Isreal is still justified.

Hitler's Germany felt they were doing the right thing at that time. Netanyahu feels he's doing the same too now, only time will tell.
Even the Western world that's complict in this genocide will eventually be brought to account.
One thing I know for sure is that Israel has only bred more Hamas supporters by this war.
I saw a video of 4 boys walking on the road, playing and Isreal killed them with a drone attack. Imagine going to market jeje and for no reason, you are killed with a missile.

Hmmm.

This Israel matter just shows that it's tough being a man in this life. Obviously, Israel is pained about the loss of his marriage and he's speaking out. Yet, he's being shamed for doing so. Maybe the way he's going about it is wrong, but men too have feelings.
Looks like the babe never loved him and only used him to achieve small fame/clout.
At this stage, I'd just advise him to let go and move on cos the babe seems to have moved on with hers. He's only just demarketing himself at this point.

A 2 state solution with Isreal giving up much ground is the only solution here. Otherwise, it will be a never-ending cycle of grief and death.
None of those supporting Isreal would accept the same thing Isreal has done to Palestine, just because they have superior might and western backing.

Majority of the comments here are against doctors,as usual. Saying strike is not the way forward. Has the Government ever listened to anything but strikes?
In all my years working in the Western world, I've never seen doctors donate their blood or money for patients.
The first time I donated blood was so that it could be swapped for a patient who couldn't afford it. I was a medical student then and since donated more.
Nothing has changed and it won't change. Nigerian doctors do not deserve to serve the animals called Nigerians.
I strongly advise my colleagues to leave that country ASAP. Rest in peace Dr Vwaere.

Thank you for the correction.
My question is, was Falz elected by Nigerians to provide any service to them? Was he given taxpayers money to provide shelter or healthcare to Nigerians?
No.
Buhari and by extension, APC, BAT are elected officials who have been given this mandate. So, if they seek medical attention outside the country without providing good healthcare for Nigerians, they should be made to account for it. Which is what Falz and others have been doing.
I don't see the reason why Falz would be abused for using his own money to take care of his own health.
I see there's really not much hope that Nigeria will get better going by a lot of comments by supposedly educated people in this thread.

gawu1:

You seems not to know the meaning of being private citizen. The day an individual declared himself or acts in away that he or she could be called an activist or a politician or a leader in any way, he or she ceases to be a private citizen. Anything that puts one in public eyes makes one a public figure. One must not necessarily be a politician or occupying public office before he or she could be seen as a public figure. For example, public commentators are public figures too.
By many standard, that boy who call himself faz is not only a politician or activist, he has choose to be a leader in his own way and he must live like that. When you say what the government is doing is bad, it means you have a better way such doing can be done if it were you in the power.
My people have a saying which literally goes that, the Friday which will good, it's from Thursday you will know it.

I don't know why APC fools are crying. Falz is not a politician, he's a private citizen who can do whatever he wishes with his money.
He sustained the ACL tear playing football last November. Waited till May to do the operation, a whole 6 months.
He likely had to apply for visa, gather his money and get it done. Your foolish politicians would have flown straight to UK or Paris in Nov for the operation on taxpayers bill.
You can imagine the kind of pain he must have been enduring since last year.

I'm not aware that we routinely screen patients for bleeding disorders when they register for antenatal care. So, how would the excessive bleeding have been pre-empted?
She delivered a baby boy vaginally. Afterwards, she started to bleed. Post parturition haemorrhage is a known complication of delivery and she had hysterectomy to correct/stem the bleeding.
When one looses a lot of blood, the brain shuts down "non essential" organs to ensure blood supply to essential organs. That caused the kidney failure. You can Google causes of acute kidney injury for more information.
The doctors tried to prevent organ shut down and that's why he was asked to buy 22 pints of blood. Unfortunately, there's something called DIC (google), which must likely happened Afterwards and probably began a cascade that led to her sad demise.

Lastly, since you are not persuaded, I don't think any further explanation will change your mind, so I won't be taking this any further. I have always maintained that the Nigerian public's default position is to hate doctors, so there's no need to try and engage them. This one that I've done sef na overs*bi. Take care

Update: I can see some people on this page are still not satisfied with the explanations my colleagues and I have put here. Honestly,na just to dey browse nairabet and goal.com some of una dey use your smartphones to do. Please use your phones to gain knowledge abeg, it's freely available online.

linearity:

I took time to locate and read your previous comments on this subject, the truth is I am not persuaded.

Yes, there are complications every surgery hence one is asked to sign below the dotted lines before anything can be done.

But the multiple cascading failure here leaves one with nothing but to question the know-how and professionalism of the doctors involved here.

It was a child birth that resulted in excessive bleeding. This is totally under the control of the Doctor in charge, if the right tests medical screening are carried out, excessive bleeding can be anticipated with proper remedy in place. It is most likely the knife cut some place it should not have touched leading to the bleeding.

Secondly, when the bleeding occurred, it is totally under the control of the Doctors to monitor and protect her other organs, they cannot just say excessive bleed lead to organ shutdown’….she was right there under your watch.

Thirdly, she was put on dialysis due to kidney shutdown and died within few days from what again?

The Hospital are I order for setting up the MDT because too many things went wrong and someone should be held responsible.

This is not good for the Hospital and their rebutter does not erase the negative light this event has cast on them.

Firstly, no medical student would be allowed to carry out a Caesarean operation. I know this because I'm a doctor trained in Nigeria.I initially thought it was done by a resident, who is a qualified doctor already, but now, we know it's a consultant who did it.
2) Complications are sadly, part of operations and normal standard procedure anywhere in the world is to inform the patient of these risks. Rarely would you see any "experienced professional" who hasn't had a complication before. So, it's not damaging.
3) I've explained why she had kidney failure in the previous thread. It's not due to "tampering" with her kidney.

4) was the hospital wrong in arranging an MDT meeting with the husband? Would you have preferred they ignored him?
It's hard to please Nigerians.

linearity:

So how do you know, that the operation was carried out by a consultant?

Because the hospital said so? Also, during operation many doctors are involved including student doctors.

Plus, it is even damaging that it was a professional that carried out the operation because if I recall, the husband said, during child birth, the wife experienced a complication and they were advised that her womb have to be taken out and in the process of operating the womb, they tampered with her liver or kidney.

Also the hospital here stated they invited the husband to a multidisciplinary meeting, which means the hospital knew there was fault on their end to have setup a disciplinary team.

Glad to see the hospital has come out to say something.
I understand the man is angry and hurt,so I don't blame him for his write up.Also, this is Nigeria, the public tends to believe whoever puts the story out first, especially if they are the aggrieved party.
At least, we now know it was a consultant who carried out the operation, and not a "student doctor" as claimed in the initial story.
Makes one wonder what else might be been embellished in the initial story.
It is well

To be honest, I can't say. Years ago, I would have said Teaching hospitals because of the wide range of experience the doctors there would have. You'd have Professors, Consultants and Residents all with various input. But now that even a Paediatric Professor is leaving Nigeria to start Residency in the US, I'd hesitate to recommend anything.
I graduated over a decade ago and I'd say only 10% of my classmates are still in Nigeria right now. The country is just existing on vibes and cruise.
Make una just dey hail the doctors wey still remain for naija.

I usually don't like to comment on threads like this because the Nigerian public hates doctors and their minds are already made up irrespective of any explanation you may give.
However, that wasn't a medical student. The doctor is likely a resident in training, but definitely not a student.
2) Hysterectomy (removal of the womb) can be done as a last resort to save the patient's life when all efforts to stop the bleeding has failed.
3) The bleeding caused reduced blood supply to her kidneys, making them shut down, leading to kidney failure and subsequent dialysis.
It's a very sad story and unfortunate outcome.
