Good morning house, I recently applied for a 6 months visa which I got and I traveled. I'm back now and want to apply again (valid reason). My brother who lives in the UK and is the one I visited said I should apply for a 2 years visa instead of 6 months.
My ogas in the house, based on your experiences, should I follow his advice? Thank you

Good day house, I mentioned earlier that I applied for a visiting visa and I got it in June.
My issue is this,I was supposed to travel to UK for 2 weeks in June during my leave and my documents from work supported that. However my visa came out 3 days after I was supposed to have traveled. So I deferred the trip to Sept.
Do I need to get a letter from work indicating this and that I'll be on leave in Sept instead? I'm a first time traveler, don't want to have issues with their immigration there. Thank you

A little over a million. My salary is paid into my account and I built it up gradually over the years.I'm sponsoring myself though the person I'll stay with also sent his bank balance to me.

Hi...much thanks to all the gurus in the house. I've been following this thread silently for a while but used the tips therein..I just picked up my 6months visit visa after being rejected twice by UK and once by US.
Anyways,to add to the tax debate,I only used my payslips from work, don't have tax clearance certificate.

Once again, thanks guys.

Hi jide sm,I need clarification on your data rollover. I did the #5000 data plan with 20gb data. Now,my data expires on 19/05/2017 but I still have 16gb left. I want to subscribe for 1.5GB and rollover my remaining 16GB.
Is that possible with the new data rules and if yes,how do I rollover? Thank you

My main grouse with Jehovah's witnesses is this blood transfusion issue..I work with patients that have Chronic Kidney Disease and they usually require blood transfusion due to the nature of the disease.
When a new patient comes and I see the person is a JW,I know his/her time on this earth is not long again.I've seen at least 5 patients die due to refusal to take blood. Last one was one fine 23 yr lady. Both she and her husband adamantly refused blood. She died on the dialysis machine.
The only one that I know survived was because the husband loved her more than their religion. She was unconscious on the machine,we told him her only saving grace was blood. He thought long and hard and agreed. He however said we shouldn't put the blood transfusion sticker in her case note and throughout the process,no family member came to see her on the machine.
Till today, even the woman does not know she had blood..thinks her faith made her whole.

Oga biko, still look at it from the tenants point of view. Her last rent expired on the 31st of January. Today is 11th of February. She explained that she might be transfered to Abuja and you want her to pay one year again first and if she is transfered you will refund? shocked shocked

Haba! angry Have some compassion. smiley If she is transfered, she will need to settle down there too. How will she be discussing refund and looking for money to move at the same time? I am certain she replied that she is entitled to that notice because of your demand. It is better that both of you meet in the middle.

My suggestion:

1. We know you are entitled to your rent.

2. She will know if she will be transfered in about four (4) days time.

3. If she is transfered she can pay you rent for a month and use the remaining days of the month to pack out or even pay for two months to make her transition smooth while you open the house for another tenant.

Somehow I think she does not want to have to be asking you to refund. Tenants are human too biko. grin

thanks for the advice...the transfer is a scam, she is not going to Abuja..the problem is,she has no money, hasn't paid her share of the light and lawma bill this month. she just wants to use sense for me and stay in the house without paying. that is what I want to avoid.
Properties / Re: Help!!! Landlord Gave Me A Month Quit without reasons by dohyn(m): 10:57pm On Feb 10, 2016
lastpage:

We have not heard from your Landlady so all these story might just be one-sided, made to make your Landlady look bad.
But then, let us give you the benefit of doubt.
Questions:
1.) How long have you been in this same house?
2.) Do you pay yearly or Monthly? Your last payment was from when-to-when?
3.) Do you have a rent receipt?
4.) Are you owing any rent before now?
5.) How many people are in that house, that use the same bathroom?
6.) Was that "discussion about who should bath first" with your Landlady, done in an "aggressive tone" or with decorum (gentle manner)?
Now, There are three routes:
Long Route 1:
if you are a yearly tenant, your Landlady MUST give you SIX MONTHS NOTICE, to quit.
If you pay monthly, then you are only entitled to One Month Notice.
After that, she will give you another One MONTH, if you are still there, then ONE WEEK after which she will go to court to seek an EVICTION ORDER (Must be issued by a Court).
The Court will serve you a NOTICE to hear your own side of the story and may make or not make that order.

Long Route 2:
Go to the nearest Mediation Centre to your house and inform them of this situation.
They will invite your Landlady and ask her to state her case.
Their duty is to help both of you reach a reconciliation/agreement, without going to court.
They dont take cases that are already in court so you must decide which one you want (Court or Mediation)
Short Route: Ask someone to speak with your Landlady and tell her that you were no trying to "cause her trouble" but just trying to find a way that you and her can have your baths without disturbing each other.
Explain to her that it just happens that she wants to bath when you also want to bath and that can she give you a particular time she thinks the bathroom will be available for you to bath before you go to work in the morning, without conflicting with hers?
Try sooth her ego, beg her and act the "foolish" for now, since you are not in a position to rent another house now and l know what "stress and anxiety" it is causing you right now.
I hope one of these methods works for you.
Lastpage!
BTW: other underhand tactics:
a.) If she get "matured daughter", befriend her and impregnate her (be ready to marry her sha o!).... you are now her in-law and she cant throw you out! shocked shocked grin grin
b.) If she be "Fine Mama" and you nor mind, befriend her and your rent might just be "paid upfront" for as long as you dey knack correct-correct! shocked
But keep the House rents somewhere because the day wey she vex, you will need the money to rent another house, in a jiffy! grin grin
NB: I do not endorse any of the last two strategies even though they work like a charm, grin l saw them in my dreams!
It wasn't me.... lipsrsealed undecided
.

I have a similar case but I'm the landlord. My tenant moved in Jan 2015,paid for a year's rent. this year, she promised to pay me by January ending. Jan 31st, she then told me that she might be transferred to Abuja by 2nd week in February. I told her to still pay and if she gets transferred, I will refund her money.
My agent then called her this Monday when she did not pay to ask about the money. she then told the agent that she does not have money and after all, she should be given 3 months quit notice by law.
Now,I don't even want her in the house again, want her to leave by February ending whether she pays or not and I have told her. what are my options pls? Can I evict her by month end? remember,I didn't have any issue with her till she made that statement.
sorry for the epistle and quoting you. thanks

You display your pathologic and pathetic ignorance again. No one is foolish to think emergency services are free anywhere in the world. However, it is only in a primitive society with inept doctors that instead of stabilizing a patient, instead look for who to quickly refer to, or ask money first from a dying patient that needs urgent care.

Should we do an incision and drainage to drain the pus out of your brain, so at least you can reason a little and have some common sense?

what is this one talking about? I may not like cramjones but I completely agree with him on this matter. The OP is grossly incompetent and he should accept responsibility for his inaction. Cramjones pulled the UK story to show uninformed people here how serious this case could have been should the nigerian system worked properly, the OP would have been in jail. My advise to the OP is he should start taking his house job training very very seriously cause this is a warning sign to him for future lapses

I'm tired of explaining to you people. I did not exonerate the op from blame..read my first post. However, health services is not free anywhere in the world and emergency health services is not an exception. Somebody has to pay for it,be it the patient or the Govt. that's the ugly truth.
A good system is one in which the Govt pays for such services because it has the interest of it's citizens at heart. Problem with Nigerians is that we like free things and expect emergency treatment to be free because a life is at stake.
Blood transfusions would have kept that lady and others like her alive pending definitive treatment but will the op put his own blood into her veins? or because he is earning 150k/month(money that people spend in one night at clubs) he is supposed to pay for the blood?
stop being emotional about this issue and think rationally. You either continue ranting online or proffer solutions to the problem. I can assure you that these cases will continue to happen till we as a people demand a change from the policy makers.

p.s don't quote me again pls

I did not say the op is blameless. he is a green HO in what is probably his first posting. The bulk of the blame is on the Govt and the society at large that allows this kind of scenario to occur time and again.
I have donated my own blood 3 times for patients, paid for patient's food and drugs..in a system that does not care.I'm sure my colleagues have their stories too. Before you paint us as heartless beings, tell us what you have done to help.
lots of people castigating the op can't lift their finger to help.I have seen where sons refuse to donate blood for their fathers before.

Granted the op should have done better(set up a line, rush normal saline etc) but the blame ultimately lies on the Government.. The victims were brought in by policemen who dumped them there, meaning there was no family member to pay for treatment. The lady that died would have been kept alive with blood transfusions at least..But who will pay for the pints of blood?
This is where our govt is at fault..Emergency kits should be provided in all govt hospitals which would be used in cases like this and should be replaced by the patient's relatives before discharge.Ditto for blood. However, with my experience, I can boldly say that 75% of Nigerians will not replace it. If the patient dies, then 100% won't.
In summary, these occurrences will continue to happen until we all wake up and demand that the Govt does the proper thing instead of harassing the op on a faceless forum.

Health / Re: Unfortunate Deaths In Our Hospitals; A Nurse's Perspective by dohyn(m): 11:53am On Nov 07, 2015
The bottom line is that Nigerians are a stupid set of people..The problems we have in the health sector is basically due to government apathy and by government, I mean politicians..We read every day in the news about how they fly outside the country to treat themselves for common cold and has there been a protest once by the populace? no. Yet, let a patient in a emergency situation die due to lack of drugs or staff, the doctors and nurses get vilified.
A working health system would have drugs, facilities, etc in place for emergencies.I can't count the number of times I have delivered babies with torch light, carried patients in my own car at 12 midnight to Lautech because we didn't have facilities in my own center..did I ask for thanks? no..did I even get the thank you?
Things won't change till our policy makers start dying in our so called "death traps" or the people start asking for what is right, instead of collecting bags of rice during campaign. I just hope that by then, we would still have health workers in this country because the brain drain that's happening at the moment no be small..
By the way,I'm a doctor and I know some fools will start to wail at my comment.
