Even the scriptures places the bond between a man and his wife above that of his biological family. The man shall leave his parents and "cleave" to his wife and the "two shall become one". Very few relationships are stronger than blood bond and marriage is one of them. Even that blood is thicker than water quote is often misquoted. The original quote is that the blood of the covenant is stronger but people have twisted it over the years. Marriage is a covenant. In a normal world where people have the right priorities, this daft gender war would be obsolete. But alas, we live in world where money and material things are placed higher than life. At op, if she's the right woman and you're convinced, find a way to get through to your Mom. Convince her and you've won half the battle. Tell her to get the lady herself and do her own findings. If they're religious, visit the family pastor and ask him to pray for you guys. If he talks to your parents in your favour, they will be more likely to reconsider. This whole tribe issue being the only thing against her is weird. I'm Igbo married to Yoruba and I'm the first. Second engaged to Yoruba and third currently dating a Yoruba lady. None of us were born and bred in the West. Mom used to make jokes about Yorubas. Now we tease her about it and she's made her peace with it. Intact, she loves my in-laws. My in-laws have always been fond of me so it's been easy to love them back. My point is, love knows no tribe or language or race. Love is the one thing that's powerful enough to break down barriers. Heck, God is love for a reason. If you are both sincere, put in prayer and put a date for the answer to that prayer. See if things don't work out. Be sure to invite me to your wedding. odinson1: Dear Op,
Whatever you do,do NOT cut your parents off! You can disobey their wishes but do not Cut them off because of any woman,be it your wife!
Secondly, I can see she is pushing you to do a Court wedding. My dear man, that would be the biggest mistake you will ever make in your entire life. What ever happens,do NOT go for a Court marriage, because it mostly never ends well.
She wants that court marriage so as to secure her future with your properties and resources in case of divorce or separation or something similar.
A final word: "in your family, the only person who isn't related to you by blood is your wife"
Let that sink in. |

Cervical Cancer and lack of information in Nigeria On September 2021, we learnt that our mother was ill. She had been bleeding for over 5 months and had resigned herself to simply wearing her pads at all times. Being a very religious woman, perhaps she strongly identified with the woman with the issue of blood in the Bible. All I know is that she was always prayerful. She also had other health issues and perhaps simply chalked it up to another thing she had to live with. It was on a visit to the hospital for a leg sprain that she finally told the doctor about her nonstop "period". After a series of tests, surgery was carried out immediately. The bleeding stopped. For a few weeks, it looked like the worse was over. That was until she started complaining about pelvic pains and spinal pains. In the end, it was ascertained that she had cervical cancer late stage and it had spread out to other regions. Despite the treatment and efforts, she died two months later. Between September and November, I learned more about cervical cancer than I had ever cared about before in my life. You see, like a typical young lady, it didn't cross my radar until it affected someone close to me. Currently, there's a free screening for cervical cancer being carried out in strategic locations in Lagos by the 100k club in collaboration with some medical bodies and organizations. Over 30 positive late-stage cases had been detected. These are over 30 cases that could have been prevented if early diagnosed and treated. The sad thing about cervical cancer is that it is very treatable if detected early with little to no effect on fertility. If not detected early, the treatment options might affect fertility and if at the last stage, is fatal. Until last year, I never knew that there were actually vaccines for cervical cancer. Two in fact are very popular, the Cervarix and the Gardasil vaccines are both administered to prevent the HPV virus which is what causes cervical cancer. I bet you could stop ten people on the street and only one of them might know this. That shows how much sensitization and awareness need to be created about this. These vaccines are administered to children as young as two in developed countries. You can even get some in your pharmacy if you reside in the developed world. The good news is that you can still get the vaccine as an adult if you are less than 40 years old. I wish I had learnt all these earlier in 2021. Maybe Mom would still be here. https://cfnaijagirl./2022/01/30/cervical-cancer-and-lack-of-information-about-the-vaccines-in-nigeria/ |

I'm sorry you had to take beatings for things you didn't do. Sorry you were even beaten at all sending you love and healing. Olamilekan08: I could relate several.
But I better let bygones be bygones otherwise I might be overwhelmed with pains and bitterness because I don't think I deserved the severity of those beatings (even if I deserved the beating at all).
Edit:
To make you understand, I've been beaten with twisted electric wire - the thick one that brings light from the pole to the house, to the extent that on one occasion the ending of the wire landed on one of my eyes. It was blood shoot that I was rejected by several eye clinics in Lagos. I could have gone blind if not for an hospital like that in Oshodi where I was admitted for 7 days. The crime? I skipped summer lessons because I was scared to tell the teacher that my parent said the fees would be paid later.
Another, I served punishment (up down or sew machine. A kind of frog jump but you'll be on a spot) for several hours into the night and after, serious beating. Reason? My younger ones removed their new doll my mother bought them from the package. Till today, I don't know why I was punished for that.
Another on I was flogged, pursued on the street while I'm being called thief, I had no choice but to return into the room to continue with the beating instead of disgracing myself in the street. I was hit with a hoe on the head with blood splashing of our white wardrobe (I still come across hidden blood stain in several places on the wardrobe weeks after the incident) before the beating stopped. Reason? No, I didn't steal anything. I was only making a stand for my new found faith.
See op ehn, this are just few, very few. If not that as they say time heals the heart, and also the many benefits I got from my parents...
Another edit:
I know I deserved some punishment. On the other hand, there are some of my naughty deeds that surprisingly went unpunished.
For example I once removed the ceiling fan regulator from the wall to regulate a rotor, connecting it to battery. (I learnt from there that tiger battery can give you as shock with that thing) Also, I removed the rotor from that olden days big black disc player, rendering it useless. And many more. No one was even questioned to my greatest surprise.
I also realized from many people's comments here that my childhood isn't unusual, but I think mine was a bit above the 'generation average'.
I wish I was born in this generation with soft parents |

Damn. Why do I feel like giving most of the commenters here a hug? Some stories are actually stories of childhood trauma in the name of discipline. cayorday89: Where do I start from...? I will be back make I reminisce on all.. Modified Being the only son of a no nonsense couple(they were meant for each other) I had countless memories of beatings from my parents as I was told I was very stubborn but if my memory permits me especially now that I have seen things, I was not stubborn it was just my parents that were too rigid and all my life were based on following rules that even prisoners will never be given, so there was bound to be broken rules which one will definitely not do without in one's lifetime even if it means death consequence. And my punishment over the course of my life ranges from beating with canes, koboko(we had one mouth, two mouths, three and four mouths), tear gas, pepper, belt etc and none was for stealing, killing, smoking, joining bad gangs, or impregnating person daughter or any other evil/bad vices you can think of.
In all, the worst beating I ever received was few hours into the new year 2004. My offense, I left church just to go blow banger with other people( I don't even have mine just in the joy of the new year), while we were going, another guy named junior (my agemate, RIP to him) gave me money to help him buy one sound when we are coming back as his parents were giving him close marking, never knew my mum would be looking for me as I thought she was engrossed in the service and it's my chance to go have some fun as all my life was restricted to home alone on days like that. She later looked for me and found me at the junction of the church, held my hands and straight home we went.
My dad was home as he was recuperatimg from an accident, he opened and my mum explained why we were home earlier then expected and without my siblings, and I was told to pull off my clothes and lay in the passageway my dad used the 4 mouth koboko and my mum used pankere and it was a joint merciless beating that lasted for close to an hour with no one been able to come to my rescue as we were the sole occupants of the house, so many others close to it but this definitely stands out and it was my third consecutive Christmas and new year season thrashing with this very one been the second banger incident. |

Since you're referring to Solomon, then you know that it didn't end well for him specifically because of the numerous women. His heart was turned away from God. The bible records are there to serve as a lesson and a guide. Did you know that in the entire bible, from Genesis to revelation, there was no positive example of a polygamous marriage? There was always over issue or the other. In the new testament, it became mandatory that a man must be the husband of one wife before he can be qualified to lead the church or take up any leadership position in the church. Even God made one wife for Adam and it was after sin entered the world that polygamy too became a part of life for this men. Didn't you read where Jesus spoke of marriage and divorce, he mentioned that it God made one man and one wife, in fact it was their hardness of spirit that introduced divorce and more. Again all scriptures are inspired and should serve to teach, guide and build us up for righteousness. Polygamous marriages in the bible were strife with issues to serve as a lesson not a template for you, the one redeemed by Christ. But you do you. Have a great day. Anigreat:
Dick wasn't made for one woman, it was made and designed for multiple women. So you'll be a failure if you stick to one woman in the name of being married to her and she bears the title " wife"
If King Solomon with all his Wisdom in abundance that was a divine wisdom given to him from above couldn't settled with one woman even two women, then why should i, an Olodo, that knows nothing settle with one pusssy, no, i can't and it can't happen...not in this life or next life, if there's any next life.
Opportunity presented itself to you to drill some pusssy and you fuckenly scared because you have a wife. You have disappointed your ancestors even our father King Solomon. Failure like you. |

1. Face your wife to the North when making love.
2. Make sure your wife doesnt take lemon, its baby girl fertilizer
3. Doggy style is proven to deliver male child, the position ensures closeness to the womb and the Y chromosome which is faster but dies quicker than the slower X chromosome will reach the eggs faster in that position.
4. Have long dick so u can touch ur wifes womb and that way the Y chromosome will hit the target on time before the slower X chromosome

You have a good conscience. Don't lose it. You'll be blessed for the good deed you've done. Don't ever lose that spirit of light in you. Kingkyle1: Fraudsters in Nigeria are finding plethora of disparate ways to legitimise their dubious occupation. From yahoo to G boys to working boys. They're trying to erase or reduce the severity by finding cool names for it but no matter what, you all are thieves and criminals, like armed robbers, you're internet robbers.
I saw a video clip where someone scammed $1m and he's thanking God about it, posting it online so people will rejoice with him. And unfortunately, some did. That goes to show the level of depravity and moral decadence in our society. Just like Cameron said, Nigeria and Afghanistan are the two most fantastically corrupt countries in the world. No doubt about that. God have seen things oo. You scam person, you allude the success to God?
The youths have been finding ways to justify their criminal acts, some said, the white men used us as slaves but make anyone loose guard and you will be the next scam victim. No matter your colour, your race, your ethnicity, your religion, your colour. They'll scam you very well. A friend of mine scammed me 500k with a business proposal. All of them are heartless. I read where a British man committed suicide after he was scammed twice of $500 by a Nigerian in a romance related scam. The European man, died because of heartbreak from the scam. To tell you how wicked and conscience less these scammers, yahoo boys or working boys are. I met a friend of mine at a restaurant, we wanted to hangout after not seeing for awhile. When we finished discussing and prepared to go, we couldn't see the lady that served us. I wanted to find her but my friend insisted we go. He said that i should know this is how people get rich, you know getting the cold heart of a scammer. That if I waka now, nothing will happen. I reprimanded him, I told him that If I am to get rich by being mischievous and depriving other people joy and plunging them into pains then let the wealth go to hell. This young girl that served us could have opted to be doing hook up or something illegitimate but she decided against that but you decided to cash in on her mistake just for your own selfishness and not because you don't have the wherewithal to pay up. Well, I later didn't find the lady but gave the money to a colleague of hers and he thanked me and said the lady actually mentioned serving us before leaving but he too forgot. My guy later messaged me few weeks later to thank me for changing his life. He told me of how he was already about to scam an American based truck driver on instagram before our meeting. He was posing as a lady but after our encounter he closed his account while the love struck white man was begging him to send his PayPal for a $500 transfer. |

I cannot safely say this to people that know me but I made the decision to be childfree a long time ago. Contrary to popular belief, I found my Soul mate with the same goals here in this country. As unbelievable as it sounds, we both got sterilized before dating. We have some similar reasons for our choices but we also have some different reasons as well. All I know is that I cannot relive the mistakes and hardships of the people before me. Being cf, I can do more for my future nephews and nieces than being preoccupied with my own. Like celibacy can be a calling for some people, parenthood isn't mine. I respect those who can and do so respectfully though... I was still a teen when I asked my mom to advise her friend to start family planning. That family had me worried with the way they kept having kids back to back while struggling to feed daily. Hearing about their situation constantly was disheartening. Somehow though, they always managed to make a new baby before the last one could start walking. I have seen firsthand what poverty can do to a woman who becomes a single parent and have to cater for several children alone. I have lived through it. I have been playing the role of a second parent to my siblings for years. Even now I can't turn it off anymore. Funny thing is that they're somehow better adjusted adults than me. I can't play house anymore. Society be damned. I make my own choices now. I Supreme145: There is this motion that giving birth to children is an achievement in this country. I see young guys in mid and late twenties rushing into marriage while they are barely standing on their feet. From someone that comes from a family of 10 I'm sure if my dad is given a second chance he won't give birth as much children again. Let me share some of my experiences as regards giving birth without proper planning or sustainable income.
I've a neighbor in my compound, he's 32 and in his final year in the university, I can hardly have decent conversation with him without hearing about how he wants to get married. I would always remind him that he's living in a one room apartment, still a student without a strong source of income, but he would counter me saying that he can always start small and grow with his wife. Moreover when he gives birth he would have an investment.
I've have another friend that was a classmate in secondary school, he graduated the year I got admission though he had some issues with his results. One day he called me that he's married and I was surprised, though he is an artisan into all those parapets and pop stuffs I know he wasn't financially buoyant enough to carry a family. The last time I visited him he was looking malnourished and unable to sort out his issues in school almost four years after because according to him any money that he gets already has a pending issue waiting for it. He's looking far older than his elder brother who's still single, he looks 38 when he's just 30. He consoled himself by telling me that even if he doesn't have money he already has two kids which he sees an investment and a great achievement. Meanwhile they are cramped into a single room apartment and none of the kids are enrolled in school.
Last week while we were training in the evening, an argument broke out between two young guys. I was just by the side observing what was happening, I kept hearing stuffs like....why you dey argue with that guy? you no know say na person father he be? that guy don born two children o abi you think say e easy to born, na big achievement be that o. Now this is a guy that is about 25 years and has no sustainable means of income, he works in peoples farms and other menial jobs to make ends meet.
My next door married neighbor has become a torn in my flesh, he's always borrowing from me without paying so it's obvious he's struggling financially, factor in the constant arguments with his wife due to shortage of funds all the time. I once asked him why rushed to get married without a good source of income and he bluntly told me that he had always been broke while he was single and still broke now that he's married the only difference is that he can boast of his kids as an achievement unlike when he was single that he had nothing to boast of.
I have no issues what so ever with how anyone choose to life their life but considering the economic condition of this country now bringing in kids without proper plans is not the way to go. If my dad had given birth to maybe 3 kids I'm sure he wouldn't be stressed out the way he is now and the resources used in training 8 kids would be better managed on just 3kids.
Personally I feel that one of the surest way to perpetual poverty as a young guy is to get married while struggling financially. Like one of the examples above, he cast aside his personal development and aspirations just to cater for his family. Supposing he's still single I'm sure he would have cleared he's outstanding school fees and maybe get his certificate.
Well since I'm still single and still struggling I don't judge anybody, every mallam to his kettle. As for me no marriage till I'm financially stable enough to afford at least 3 bedroom flat, a small car and substantial savings. It would be an abomination for me to bring a child into this world to pass through the kind of life I had growing up. |

Why would a man groom a girl and lure her from her home and everyone is talking about how she's not well raised but no one is pointing out that the male child seems to have mostly been left to his devices. May God bless the parents that are raising their kids both males and females to be responsible and not constitute dangers to others. Africa needs to balance her training. Rave about the females all you want (they do need to be taught better) but if you neglect the boy child and let them carry on without teaching them to be responsible, it is only a matter of time before they use manipulation, guilt-tripping and even violence to perpetuate crimes like this. I'm afraid this your view is not flattering to the African man. African men are different shades of people. There are responsible men with hearts of gold. There are those who are irrresponsible and don't care to try and do what's right. Then there are those like you that think it's okay to be immature and not responsibility because "reprobate mind". Lions are often known for being majestic but ferocious hunters. However, for a 12-year-old Ethiopian girl, these animals became her saviors after she was kidnapped by a group of four men. With the police on their trail, the kidnappers were on the move, however, their plans were thwarted when they encountered a group of lions who chased them off. These lions then stayed with the young girl until the police arrived. According to one policeman’s account, “They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest.” Some experts believe that the girl’s cries for help sounded like the cries of a lion cub which made the lions sympathetic. |
