We spend 4 to 6 years in the university studying, only to come out to look for job and sometimes we don't get that job.

Even if we get the job, we are being underpaid.

Life in Nigeria now is very hard that even if you are being paid N100,000 you will still struggle to survive.

How many people even get paid such an amount.

For you to survive in Nigeria you need a high paying skill to solve high paying problems.

And copywriting is one of them.

Copywriting is using the power of the written words to start, enhance or extend a relationship in sales.

Everything you see around you today are product of copywriting.

Facebook ads, bill boards, Tv adverts Radio jingles, magazines, to mention a few.

With Copywriting you work with foreign clients and get paid in dollars.

Just imagine being paid a whooping $500 just to write a letter.

That is about N250,000, and you can do this in less than 24 hours.

But what if i tell you that you can become a copywriter in 3 months with the right training and dedication?

Would you like to tap from this ever growing industry?

I would be holding a 3 day free class in Copywriting and LinkedIn marketing starting on Monday 18th of Oct.2021.

Send a whatsapp message to this no. to join for free.

Lol, you don chop money for the copy writing yourself?

You’re the bitter person here because of background. I can’t be arguing with you.

the bleeping reason, why they go into it, doesn't matter!!!

DO they have the skill to work? YES
DO you have the money to pay for that skill.....If yes PAY.....SIMPLE.

Healthcare has beyond all these thinking u expressing...

In advanced countries, nursing practioners see patients and run their clinic independently. Specialist nurses do routine surgical procedures like endoscopy. First contact physiotherapist now handle most non surgical orthopaedic cases.
Gone are days of consultants or even doctors doing everything. Healthcare is now multidisciplinary oriented.

Registrar doctors practically run the hospital. A medical registrar holds the night bleep in hospitals. He's the doctor running the show at night- emergencies, cardiac arrest, acute cases...name it. U have to be good and know your stuff to carry that bleep. Ive met a lot of nigerian medical registrars here in uk. So I dont know where u get that info that nigerian doctors in uk are not good.

Besides, GP is a specialty on its own, and probably the most lucrative. U can easily pull over 150 thousands pounds in a yr if u hardworking. Its also the only specialty in uk where u can have your own practice. Maybe thats why nigerian doctors are rushing into the specialty.

Your narrative is not only spurious but reeks of jealousy. I really don't understand what u have against doctors, but its unnecessary.
In the 21st century, there are other professions more rewarding than doctors. Why not discover yours, rather wasting futile effort trying to bring down another noble profession.
Bro you too on point. The guy is spewing bile of jealousy. Thats not even what irks me. It's how he CONFIDENTLY DISPLAYS HIS IGNORANCE, EVEN USING ABSURD FAMILY CASES TO BACK UP HIS POINT that stuns me. How will a resident doctor not be paid in U.S. its either dude is not even in medical practice, or you are just classicaly uninformed.

I can see 2 or so individuals on this thread spouting rubbish confidently. That your father is a consultant or you've been to a clinic in Austria does not make you knowledgeable about health care in the Western world.

1) a lot of Nigerian doctors in the UK choose GP because it's the quickest route(3years)to become a specialist in the Uk. They have wasted years in Nigeria already, it would be foolhardy to expect someone in his 30s to go start 7 years surgical training in the UK.
That being said, we still have Nigerians doing training in other specialities, though it's roughly 25% of the total number of Nigerians in UK Training.

2) Registrars are the driving force of any tertiary hospital anywhere in the world. You can take that to the bank. And a medical registrar is THE main guy in UK hospitals.

3) again, I implore my colleagues in final year, start your japa plans with IELTS in final year. You won't regret it.

Nigeria and Nigerians will sort themselves out.

I really don’t know if they use the term house officer but she’s doing her intern or whatever they call there and she’s not been paid. I would try to get more accurate details from here. Plus in 2009, my first cousins was doing his residency in USA as an emergency doctor, he told us they don’t pay resident doctors in USA but we didn’t believe and I’m not very sure but I will also ask my sister.

This is it for me. HOW CAN YOU HAVE SUSTAINED IGNORANCE SINCE 2009, and even be having a conversation in this forum. My God!!! My, advice, you need unpaid internship on your knowledge about how the healthcare system works for 2 years because being informed is not hereditary or familial!!!

I don’t know about India but house officers are not paid in USA. My sister is doing her intern in USA. And you are misinforming people. The issue is registrars (especially senior registrars) and consultants do not like working. At the end the push the work load to junior registrars and interns. But instead of tackling the issue at hand, you are blackmailing and lying on social media saying interns are suffering and yet no salary like it’s the Nigeria government that made them to be suffering.

Clearly you lack the ability to do effective comparison.

Glad you gave the example of your "sister". If that is true, can you further defend your ignorance by explaining to the public.
The intern that she is doing, the correct word is internship, but that aside. I have a few questions.
(1)The "intern" that she is doing, is that before she got her M.D certificate or after she got the M.D certificate.
(2) If you really do have a sister doing "intern", Did she have her medical education started in the U.S.A?
(3) Is these "intern" thingy a compulsory requirement for her, for licensing purposes.

While waiting for you to come and defend your ignorance, i'd lay down a few facts.

In the US , once you are awarded a medical degree, what is REQUIRED OF YOU IS TO WRITE USMLE STEP 2 CS AND APPLY FOR RESIDENCY VIA THE MATCHING SYSTEM. Observership or externships are duties done at the students discretion for THE PURPOSE OF PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING. not as a requirement. These M.D holders do not have a license, not even a temporary one during their first year of residency, YET THEY ARE PAID, based on the fact that they have written STEP ONE AND STEP 2 of the licensure exams, have a friggin M.D degree, and put in hours of work.

In the U.K after getting, M.B.B.S, as only medical degree holders they apply for Foundation Year. FY1 and start earning money, BASED THEIR DEGREE M.B.B.S and the hours of work they put in. IN FACT THEY ONLY GET LICENSED AFTER FY 1, AFTER EARNING ABOUT 24 K POUNDS, BASED ON WHAT...ONLY THIER M.B.B.S DEGREE

The European residency training system has a very poor structure, hence i cannot place it into the argument.

Indian doctors, graduate M.B.B.S write a licencure exam, get a TEMPORARY LICENCSE and start an equivalent of HOUSEJOB and are frigging paid.

South Africa has a two year internship and pays its interns!!!!

BUT the ignoramus like bemwem, comes here with all confidence and tries to be a subject matter based on a few travels he has made an family members.
Dude, Nigeria graduates and awards, and M.B.B.S degree, does an induction, swears a Hippocratic oath, and GIVES A PROVISIONAL LICENSE!!. Its after that, that you commence house-job. And work your ass out. why the frigging hell would a licenced doctor not earn money.

UK our, colonizer, whom we modelled our education after, pays its M.B.B.S doctors immediately after graduating. I see no reason why NIGERIA shouldn't

You are the person misinforming people And you the person talking trash. Registrars on night shift are not meant to go to bed. No talking trash. It is because an average Nigerian is gullible that is the reason you doctors and people Brian wash them. Your talking of registrars becoming consultants, they learn from their consultants, as questions, read their books, consultants explain to them the diagnosis and prognosis with time the gather sufficient experience with the number of cases they have seen. Write required exams and if they pass become consultants. I will not argue with you. My father is a medical doctor from Germany. He’s a consultant and a professor. I’m not talking out of ignorance. I have also been to India and seen how their health system is run. Lying that resident doctors are the driving force of the health world wide is a big lie. People go to specialist for consultation not registrars. What happens is that there is usually 1-2 registrars with the consultant Learning from the specialist. It’s only in Nigeria , people consultant registrars because the consultants have refused to come to work. In the consulting room, it’s usually you and the specialist. You can even politely tell the consultant that you want some privacy that you want the registrar to leaving and the registrar will leave. I have done the twice. No big deal. It’s in the theatre that they are most needed to gain one on one experience and knowledge. Stop the lies and propaganda.

I have read your continued educated misinformation and i think its high time i dignify your bitterness against doctors wherever the root of that is with a response. Peradventure, you dropped out of medical school, or did not get the opportunity , but that aside.

Nairaland is a public forum, and your intelligence or the opposite is seen my many. Try to represent yourself to the best of your ability.

Mr BEMWEM... In health care we have

The Emergency department...
The Out patient department
Wards
and clinics.

Obviously, your ignorant experience is based on the latter two, wards and clinical consultation. If you were in a cardiac arrest in the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, OR YOU HAD TRAUMA you will not be healthy enough to wad your mouth to disrespect someone ( registrar) whos working hard to make sure your health doesnt deteriorate, whom you classify as " just a resident"

REAL HOSPITAL WORK IS HIGHEST AND STARTS IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. That is where the real sick people go...my guy, all this anti propaganda yearns against doctors that you are spewing does not work in the real ER.

An average patient emergency requires at least 5 to 8 people to manage the patient. say you have 50 minimum, patients in one night, does it mean that the countries you mentioned, India, Germany and the rest, dole out 5 x 50 consultants for these new patients care, while the residents, ONLY TAKE NOTES DURING THE CHAOS THAT CONSTANTLY HAPPENS IN ER. Dude, no country has that surplus supply of consultants, who are often older in age and do not even have the physical stamina needed to really save a patient, like chest compressions, lifting , pulling of broken bones, etc.

I REITERATE. IN THE CHAOTIC EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT OR TRIAGE. RESIDENTS AND HOUSE OFFICERS , ARE THE FIRST CALL. NOT BECAUSE CONSULTANTS ARE LAZY, BUT BECAUSE, HISTORY TAKING AND ASSESSMENT IS HOW A DOCTOR LEARNS TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS. NOT BY TAKING NOTES. Stop saying your dad is a doctor medical intelligence is not hereditary, If you have not worked in a hospital or own a hospital , kindly keep mute.

Health is not about headache and agbo alone, what happens to the pregnant mother in labour, the children with pneumonia and meningitis.? Na agbo go cure them? the endless cases of malnutrition? or the massive trauma along express roads. FG is like Kitana in Mortal Kombat, heartlessly slashing peoples salary.
please FRONT PAGE, MODS.

In a shock move that has left the medical community in Nigeria dazed, there is a report that the federal government o f Nigeria through the National Council of National Establishment ( NCE) has stopped the salaries of medical house officers, dental officers, nurse interns , pharmacist interns , medical laboratory science interns and NYSC doctors. This means, the salaries of all health interns in Nigeria health institutions including that of house job have been removed from the payroll of the federal civil service. In case you still don’t understand this piece of information, the federal government is saying house-manship ( a paid mandatory one year service for fresh medical graduates ) is now part of the continued training for doctors and other interns and therefore, they are no longer under any obligation to pay them salaries.

Before now, a house officer is on consolidated medical salary scale (CONMESS) . With this decision, the federal government have removed house officers from the salary scale saying they will no longer pay HOs.

This information is contained in document dated 12th of April 2021 and released by the National council of Establishment ( NCE is the highest decision making body in the civil service and duly signed by the head of civil service Dr, Folashade Yemi-Esan. Who surprisingly and disappointingly a dental doctor without conscience to protect the interest of freshly graduated , hardworking doctors. She supposedly graduated as the best graduating student in University of Ibadan in 1987.

Now, the government is assaying house-manship and other health internships is a form of “ studentship” and not supposed to be a paid job.
Now that the FG has banned house officers from earning salaries, what does the future hold for young medical graduates and also interns of other health professionals.?

The Press Release:

“Head of Service of the Federation
HCSF/SPSO/ODD/NCE/CND. 100/S.10/11/112

12th April, 2021

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME IN THE CIVIL/PUBLIC SERVICE

The National Council on Establishments (NCE) at its 42nd meeting held from 30th November 4th December, 2020 in lkeja, Lagos State reviewed the current status of internship programmes/housemanship/NYSC Doctors in the Service, and approved their removal from the
Schemes of Service as posts attracting grade levels in the salary structure.

The Council based its decision on the grounds that the period of these programmes/services form part of the trainings in their respective professions.

Interns shal, however, be considered for the payment of allowance to be determined by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

This approval will be reflected in subsequent edition of the Schemes of Service.

Signed

Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation”

This latest decision is not unrelated to the recent outcry, social media hashtags, and even open protests by house officers following the non- payment or half payment of their salaries after the centralisation by the medical and dental council of Nigeria (MDCN)…many health experts cited the the lack of cooperation of the hospital CMDs with the MDCN as the cause of the sour development. In the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital and Jos University Teaching Hospital for example, house officers and other interns carrying banners, took to the premises of the management of the hospital to protest their financial hardship as a result of non-payment of their salaries.

Now that the FG has banned house officers from earning salaries, what does the future hold for young medical graduates and also interns of other health professionals?
