Solsix:Election-induced generosity. Remove election in Nigeria and check if you’ll hear about or see Atiku in 20years. I’m sure he’s even in Dubai currently. |
SmartPolician:My dear, if I have money like Atiku, I’ll achieve more of all these feats than him. All these you mentioned are more about personal interest. I can decide to marry from all ethnic groups in the country, live anywhere I wish as well as focus my investments to one or more directions. It’s my money. Then what happened when these achievements(not qualities albeit) was put to test in the last one year? Why did they not help him to bring about or achieve the desired peace that eluded his party during the just concluded elections which no doubt, paved a huge way for his defeat? |
I get confused each time I hear people call Alhaji Atiku Abubakar “a unifier”. I’ve actually tried to explore any possible factor(s) or any special action(s) exhibited by him to merit that accolade, and I’m yet to see even one. I’ve traversed his political antecedence, not one yet. Instead, all I see is betrayal, inconsistency, lack of strategy and dynamism, greed, lack of vision and patriotism and indeed all those adjectives used by President Obasanjo to describe him. However, for those of his supporters and admirers, if you have any unifying attributes of Atiku, pls let me/us know. |
Clearly, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in a shameless pursuit to make the Guinness World Records by creating the most immoral regime in history. But the nonsense must stop. This man must stop shaming Nigeria. This country is a bastion of qualified manpower. Instead of recycling shady politicians, Tinubu should tap from millions of untainted talents within the ruling party or outside of it. *SKC Ogbonnia, A Former APC Presidential Aspirant, writes from Abuja, Nigeria*[/quote]You mean Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu? Because that’s the only former APC Presidential Aspirant I can remember with the related name |
All I can see and read is hatred. Just try and be a good loser. There’s always next time. |
Asswipemod:Guy we truly share same pattern of reasoning. Nnamdi Kanu completely assumed the place of God to them. His pride is beyond description. The same part(part of unelectable president like Atiku), they are obviously pushing Obi into. However what baffles me the most is Obi’s ineptitude and lack of understanding of this. Obi simply lacks vision and strategy. I give it to Tinubu. |
Peter Obi is not left out among the betrayers. Judging from the stand taken by the Labour Party(which he’s the leader) to support Yari(Muslim) against the choice of Akpabio(Christian). I expected him to recuse himself from such stand and even order the party to support a Christian. But he did not and you guys do not see it as betrayal of the Christian interest(an interest he’s supposed to be at the forefront championing)?. He’s simply playing politics and he’s not different in any way. He’s also on the betraying chain. |
kokorokoman:Guy you get sense. The OP just used guise to sing Peter Obi’s praise. Peter Obi is simply a child of circumstance/necessity. There nothing special about him. This is a man who ruled Anambra State for good 8years without conducting local government election. How has he accounted for the LG’s allocations for these 8years? As far as I’m concerned, Sen. Chris Ngige and some of those he mentioned are far ahead of Peter Obi by track records and achievements. Period. |
Ajagunakin:What did Obi work for if not that he’s only an opportunist? Has he worked for the presidency more than Tinubu and Atiku? Between Obi and his opponents who deserve the presidency more going by your analogy? Abeg drop it, it doesn’t sell. |
SadiqBabaSani:I’ll rather trust my political future in the hands of Sowore than Peter Obi. Peter Obi is simply a fraud that did not happen. He’s an opportunist. At least Sowore has been involved in many revolutionary struggles right from his university years up to date. He’s been consistent and has never ditched his party. He’s never betrayed his party for once. He’s very loyal to his revolutionary cause. A number of factors contributed to his being unpopular yet. First, his region the southwest are misgoverned and do not feel marginalized like the southeast. So there is no much anger of the people against the government both at regional and federal levels. People are moderately ok with their government of the day. At least his region has produced the likes of Chief Awolowo(GCFR), Chief Obasanjo(GCFR), Chief Abiola(GCFR), Chief Shonekan(GCFR), Prof. Osinbajo(GCON), Asiwaju Tinubu(GCFR) among others of which southeast has not produced a single GCFR. So there’s moderate sense of belonging and inclusion among the people of his region. Secondly, he’s not rich and has not held public office before like Peter Obi. You and I know that if Obi had not been Governor before, there was no how he could’ve been a match to Sowore. Sowore cannot afford to fund presidential campaign with his financial status. Lastly, he did not and is not playing ethnic and religious card like Obi which will largely become his(Obi) greatest albatross as far as subsequent presidential elections are concerned(albeit he may not have realized it for now but I’ll soon dawn on him and stare him in the face). Let me tell you, as it stands it’s easier to market Sowore to Muslims and Notherners as a presidential candidate than Obi. This is a truth that no matter how you dodge it, it’s what it’s. Obi has done more harm than good to his presidential ambition just with one shot at it and your kinda gullible Obidients contributed largely to it. If you ask me, I’ll explain more to you. |
ogaemma:Exactly. We cannot end Nigeria just because some individuals or group lost election. There’s always next time. Tinubu seem competent to me with some of his move although contrary to my previous notions of him. I’ll always pray for him. |
Epistasis:Yes I pity them. But it’s not entirely their fault. While I blame Obi who explored Buhari’s maladministration and harvested the anger and frustration of Nigerians to sell himself with religious and ethnic bigotry, our so-called prophets and men on the pulpit who dished out fake prophecies of all sorts are not left out. They really inseminated and watered a negative seed of hate and unhealthy religious rivalry and intolerance that would take a century of not forever to destroy. |
helinues:My dear The truth is that I love Obi but the level of his political ineptitude surprises me. I can even play better. He’s failed to understand that majority of his supporters are myopic and are cheering him to political oblivion because of intolerance. And he seem to be patronizing them too much. He’s too emotional to/with them. He’s failed to carefully and smartly utilize and consolidate on his sudden political popularity which came on a platter(because he did not labour for it to compare the likes Of Tinubu and Atiku) by building bridges across devides. Now Yorubas and Hausas have “demystified” him as a religious and ethnic bigot. So marketing Obi and LP to them now would be as difficult as marketing Tinubu, Buhari and APC to the Southeast. How then can he win presidency without their support? Obi allowed myopic Obidients to relegate him to a local champion as far as future presidential elections are concerned. He’s done more damage to his future chances than good due to lack of forward thinking and vision. His Vice even added to the injuries with his unguarded and misguided utterances during the pre-inauguration crisis with their desperation to scuttle the inauguration by all means. I do not know why a vice presidential candidate of his caliber who himself was a product of a rigged senatorial election in Kaduna, could be that myopic to tell the President and Cheif Justice not to swear in an elected President. It’s really the height of desperation. No matter the grievances, your case is already in court, why not wait for court to decide? After all when he rigged his own Kaduna senatorial election against Makarfi, Makarfi never called for him not to be inaugurated. He even enjoyed it for over 2years. They really made a mess of themselves. I never expected them to stoop to that level of desperation. They even surpassed Atiku and PDP I thought would have been at the forefront for that desperation. They should simply learn how to manage failure. I even expected Obi among other things to caution and call everyone to order. I don’t even want to talk about the level of disservice our so-called prophets and men of God did to Obi. Of course you’ll agree with that they boosted his morale and that of gullible Obidients with their ‘fake’ prophecies which blew them up(Obi & Obidients) in acting silly just to achieve the prophecies. I’m tempted to say that they forced Obi and LP as the will of God on most gullible Obidients. I voted Obi neither because of these prophecies nor because Obi was able to convince me with his manipulative theoretical economic or rather mathematical figures which he believe he has in solving Nigeria’s problem which did not amount to anything in his 8years governorship in Anambra state. I voted Obi just because I saw him as a lesser evil among the major candidates. However, I’ve become skeptical about him. After all, he’s not really who we thought he’s. |
Basic123:It will be a great disservice to Christians my brother. They’re only smart by half. Our elders say, “he who spits up only spits on himself.” We’re simply the architects of our own misfortune. Can they even learn? Even in the face of Elrufai’s brazen bigoted utterances, yet LP who’s supposed to stand for Christian Senate President at least, is here playing politics. I’ll be waiting for them shout marginalization. Funny enough, they’re saying they’re only interested Presidecy thinking they can get it without being in the mainstream. Nonsense and ingredients!!! |
richie240:My brother It’s a pity. Although you don’t blame them. Our elders say “if one finger touches oil, it smears the rest”. Just maintain your logical reasoning. It’s a great service to your conscience and that’s most important to you. |
richie240:My own ‘Igboness’ is not even from the SS. I’m from Imo State. I was born and bred in Osha city. I schooled in Osha city up to secondary and then went to University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN). I’m identified by my Igbo name. So you can see everything about me is Igbo. In fact the first time I left or had to leave Igboland(Onitsha) was during my NYSC years in Sokoto in 2017. Thereafter, I relocated to Lagos in early 2018. Like my father would always say, conscience is like an open wound, only truth can heal it. I don’t really have to preak my conscience by being skewed, irrational and bigoted simply because I’m Igbo. I try to see, reason and understand things from realistic, rational and balance point of view. Although it’s not been easy for me. You know what it mean to take a rational but uncommon posture in the midst of popular bigoted opinions and views. It’s like appearing wise in the midst of fool. As a matter of fact, I’ve been constantly insulted(even assaulted at some point), bullied, called all sort of names, stigmatized and even threatened in this respect. I mean it’s been a horrible experience all along. However, the truth is that I’ve come a very long way in rationalism. It’s already too late for me to join the bandwagon. |
Tflex01:Who told you I’m not Igbo? Abum onye Igbo full time. I’m from Imo state. My parents are Igbo too(from Imo too). I was born and bred in Onitsha. Nwa otu nkwo kambu. I mean otu Onitsha ado. But most importantly, I’m a Nigerian. I must not be Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo or South South for me to be reasonable. I mean I’m a free rational thinker. I’m not bigoted. You get the point now? |
Tflex01:Even with the obvious lies, I tried to stay through until this recent events especially of Emefiele’s arrest. Oh my goodness! How does it sound to the ears to hear that Labour Party of all, not even PDP kicked against it? If they had suggested like others are saying that not only Emefiele but Buhari and other cabals should be arrested too. I would’ve been proud of them. Instead they said the President should have sought the NASS approval before the arrest. Haba. No naah. It’s simply politics and it’s a very bad one at that. I’ve got to dissociate myself from Labour Party. And the worst is that Peter Obi is mute about all these statements suggesting his support. To hell with him and LP joor |
HIGHESTPOPORI:My dear, you cannot be more Obidient and Nigerian than others. Just calm down and a have a rethink. I cannot stoop to the level of joining issues with you because I assume you’ve already read the write up of which judging by your reaction, I’m sure you’re the target. Beside you did not make any useful comments in respect to my subject/points. You only hauled names/insults as it’s known you. |
Zxcvbnmghtr:I think we’re few my dear. However, it’s already what it’s. The best is just to forget the past, make the best of today and be excited about tomorrow. God bless you sir/ma |
Jostoman:I’m sure you didn’t read through cos if you did, you could have objectively disagreed with me or corrected me with points if I’m not correct. Hence you resorted to name-calling. It’s high time we stopped loathing as it will do us more harm than good. God bless you. |
Sangoamadioha1:You statement in bracket says it all. I must not be myopic to be Obidient. I only see reasons and I thank God you agreed with the write up. God bless you. |
The events of the recent past especially since the inauguration of Tinubu as President and the manner of reactions by Labour Party and Peter Obi to these events have left many questions in my heart and indeed in the heart of many rational Obidients who really see things from the perspective of national interest rather than hatred and love for one’s candidate and what have you. Such questions are as follows; 1. How Labour Party and Peter Obi led FG would have been, had they won the Presidential election? 2. Is LP really different from PDP and APC or better still, is Peter Obi really different from other conventional politicians? 3. What new is/would LP/PO bring(ing) to the table as a viable alternative opposition to PDP against the APC led Federal Government? Almost all the Presidential candidates promised to remove fuel subsidy if voted into office. In fact Peter Obi(my candidate) promised to remove subsidy from his first day in office i.e 29th May which chiefly accounted for my vote for him among other reasons. Fortunately enough, President Tinubu(who I vigorously campaigned against) removed it on his first day in office which now dares me to him(I just hope he does not bow to the subsequent pressures from all sides to counter this lofty move). However and unfortunately, Peter Obi’s relatively negative reaction to this decision speaks more of politics or political hypocrisy than national interest. When he was asked about his reaction to the decision, he said thus “…it’s not all about removing subsidy, it’s more about putting measures in place to cushion the effects of subsidy removal”. Now the question is; how could he have put the so-called measures in place before removal on the first day as he promised? Or could he have postponed the removal as against his promise in order to consult or put out the measures? I know for sure that most gullible Obidients would attempt to provide flimsy answers to these questions just to defend/protect him but no matter how hard they try, it does not change the obvious hypocrisy. Secondly, when some Labour Party members-elect attempted to express their personal opinions out of their own personal convictions about NASS leadership elections as well as other issues, the party’s response or reaction was that of rebuttal and bully which no doubt implied interference and imposition of party principles on its members. This imposition and meddlesomeness you will agree with me LP has constantly accused APC of in respect to NASS leadership elections. With the flimsy excuse that “party is supreme “ a mantra PDP used overtime to perpetrate impunity and have used same to impose Atiku Abubakar on the party(PDP) as its Presidential candidate against majority of interests/considerations as well as equity, fairness and justice which undoubtedly and hugely contributed to their defeat/failure and which by extension Peter Obi himself exploited/harvested against the party, is now LP’s mantra(party is supreme). Now if party is supreme, what moral or political justification does LP has to accuse APC of trying to impose their candidates on the NASS leadership and in bullying their Members-elect as well as conniving with PDP & other minority parties to vote a particular candidate? The simple question again remains; how is LP different from PDP and APC? Maybe LP should be reminded that that “party is supreme” mantra is undemocratic and breeds impunity and corruption. They should not be seen to be playing to the gallery owing to the notion most politically sane minded Nigerians hold about them. Again, permit me to ask, to whose interest and benefit is LP’s connivance with PDP and other minority parties to support the candidacy of Senator Abdullaziz Yari(a Muslim) against APC’s balanced choice of Senator Godswill Akpabio(a Christian) knowing fully well that the emergence of Muslim Yari and perhaps Muslim Speaker would lend more credence to Muslim dominance in almost all the important positions in this country? Whatever be the immediate interest of LP for this injurious political scheming, they should be reminded that it stands against national interest. Therefore, they should look beyond parochial interests and have a rethink. Else, It will definitely live to hunt them in the short or long run. Furthermore, most appalling of all, is the reaction of Labour Party to the most recent arrest and pending prosecution of Mr. Godwin Emefiele(former CBN Governor). The party through its National Publicity Secretary Mr. Obiora Ifoh, dismissed the arrest, declaring it ‘unconstitutional’ and ‘a punishment against Emefiele’. It said that the President ought to have sought NASS approval before the arrest. Now I’m like… what a party! Is this how Peter Obi and LP would have represented my interest and indeed the interests of the majority of poor Nigerians? Haba now!!! This is the height of bad politics honestly speaking. So if Peter Obi/LP had won the election, this is how they would have handled a corruption case as serious and weighty as this, I mean with kid’s glove? No no no. I’m forced to say we truly dodged a bullet and I’m forced to withdraw my support for PO/LP for now. A move even some PDP members and most right and positive thinking elite members of the opposition parties have unanimously applauded. LP no no. You’re more than this. From the stench of fart they say, one can decipher the taste of faeces. With the recent happenings and the the subsequent reactions, actions as well as decisions of LP and Peter Obi, as enumerated above, there is no gain saying the obvious fact that the party and indeed Peter Obi are no different from PDP and APC and are directly opposite of what they stood, preached and campaigned for and against. Otherwise, how could they justify their opposition to the arrest of Emefiele? On whatever grounds or guise? A notorious criminal who even Sen. Shehu Sani described as “an ATM of Buhari’s cabal”. Do they ever consider the allegations against him? Do they ever consider what that evil man did to our economy? Albeit, LP/Peter Obi’s support for Emefiele’s currency redesign policy stemmed from the fact that they simply wanted to benefit from or harvest it to come to power. Of course this is quite understandable enough(although I did not support it). But their subsequent opposition to his arrest is what I find quite difficult to comprehend. It really beats my wildest imaginations. What do they actually stand to benefit if not politics at the detriment of poor masses(even the rich was not spared)? It’s simply the height of insensitivity to the plight of poor Nigerians. There is no other justification to it. It’s as simple as that. How else do I define hypocrisy? Again, how could they(LP/PO) Justify their connivance with PDP and other parties to support Yari for Senate President while the President himself, Vice, CJN and perhaps the Speaker are all Muslims? Whatever guise, interest or motive that drives this move and support, is largely hypocritical, condemnable and unacceptable. Should they succeed, what confidence and justification would they now have to criticize the government on religious balance? Conclusively, Labour Party and Peter Obi should please play better opposition for/politics of national interest rather than playing to the gallery and hub-nobbing with the greedy PDP. They should take Ayo Fayose’s advice of avoiding PDP as a plague. Else they are heading for an unknown and disastrous destination as PDP would try to explore and exploit them for their greed. What LP and Peter Obi does not know is the fact that they are losing in droves, the support of the right thinking supporters/individuals/members who are disgusted and disenchanted by their politically motivated actions and decisions so far at the expense of overall national interest. They should try to tone down on some political schemings and utterances that would DEFINITELY amount to their political albatross in the short or long run. They should just tread carefully with caution and run an issue based opposition politics. For now, I’m ok with most(not all) of the moves of President Tinubu. He seem to have started on a good footing contrary to my expectations and notions about him. No sentiments attached. I’m only moved by national interest and good governance. Nothing less. And anyone I see tilting towards that angle earns my support and respect. No hating. For now, I’ll keep supporting, praying for him and hoping that he maintains and surpasses the tempo. Let him disappoint my previous notions about him. However, I’ll never hesitate to criticize him each time I see him drifting away from good governance. Of course, I supported President Buhari in 2015 because he promised me changes but when it became obvious that the change I sought and voted for was a mirage and just the opposite, I withdrew; hence my support for Peter Obi(although I’m becoming skeptical about him). To my fellow Obidients, please and please again, take this advice from me. Our patriotism shouldn’t end with the perceived ‘defeat’ of our candidate. No. There’s always next time. And it must not be one person. Most credible candidates are not even yet born and they abound. This is our country and it’s bigger than one individual, ethnic group, religion or interest. Drop loathing and hating and let nothing becloud our sense of rational reasoning, sound judgment and thinking. Above all, let’s not always preempt God’s mind or will or rather let’s not force our will on God. No. God’s ways and will are most times in contrast with ours and we cannot help Him or be seen to be helping Him to actualize His will. That’s why He’s God. You cannot search Him all. He does all things according to His will and time. May God bless you and give you the patriotic spirit and mindset even as you read through. Amen. God bless Nigeria!!! |
It’s only Labour Party that have so far condemned the arrest of Emefiele. They condemned it on the flimsy excuse that FG ought to have sought NASS approval. I’m like which kinda politics is LP playing? Is it how they just want to diminish their electoral fortunes so fast? No they really need to redress their steps. It’s becoming obvious by the day that they don’t really want the progress of this country. At the hight of the naira redesign crisis, they played politics and supported it at the expense of majority of impoverished Nigerians. Now coming up to condemn the arrest of an obvious criminal. And not only that, they are bullying their NASS members elect for expressing their personal opinions on the guise that party’s supr. If party is supreme, why then condemn APC’s choice of NASS principal officers? In fact LP is far below my expectation from them. All their leaders including Obi himself are not different from APC & PDP. I’m disgusted with LP and their pattern of non issue-based opposition. How can you bully and instruct your members to vote against a Christian southerner for senate president knowing fully well that President himself, Vice, CJN & perhaps speaker are all Muslims? The only opportunity for a Christian to emerge at the top positions, you’re going against it just for political, selfish reasons/gains. And tomorrow you’ll be the one to start crying Islamization, marginalization and all that. In fact, with utmost disgust, I hereby withdraw my support for LP and Peter Obi. They’ve shown with most of their silly moves that they can’t represent our interests and they professed |
Girlee:I can imagine the feeling. The Lord will see you through. Just be strong and face your fears. You’ll come out victorious. I really admire your smartness. I’ll also advise that before you embrace any offer from people who’ll demand to see you/your parents physically, pray well and get some convictions. I guess you know my reason. God bless you and give you and your beloved mum peace in Jesus name. Amen |
leanonme82:Sincerely speaking, this statement made me withdraw my support for Obi. How can an acclaimed “compassionate” politician like him support such senseless and wicked policy that has no iota of derivable impact at all? That was the moment I began to understand him better that he’s not different from other politicians. Just trying to play politics with such policy. Even the way he reacted to the subsidy removal shows politics also. I bet you give Obi presidency today and see he’s no any different from the status quo. Although I did not vote Tinubu but I think I’m satisfied with his moves for now. This is really beyond my expectations. I’ll support him totally if he maintains or even surpasses the tempo |
The early sign of “failure to prove their case” ruling in the short or long run. Let them withdraw their petition before the disgraceful ruling would be handed down to them |
I wish and pray this tempo be maintained throughout his tenure. Let it not amount initial grahra. |
mushroomFarm:Then residency nko? |
Very unfortunate that Datti(a mandate thief himself) is here blaming another for an offense he’s committed. How come he’s become an activist and advocate of democracy overnight? This man blatantly stole Sen. Ahmed Makarfi’s senatorial mandate for over a year before court returned the mandate to the actual owner. He doesn’t a moral justification to fight in this regard. And unfortunately enough some people still address him as senator which he never is/was in the sight of the law. He’s only playing and preying on the fragile emotions of the gullible Obidients. |
I can spot Sen. Aisha Binani, Pa Bisi Akande |
This is another Obidient like me who is no more driven by emotions or sentiments.
