The embassy had to call me to come and pick up my documents since UPS is not a serious company, I don't think they are efficient with their operations there. So my advice is to please always use DHL. Thank you guys. |

I am sorry about that, it was not clear though. no vex TUNDEMI1: Please don't quote me wrong, and don't write here that am blabbing, the person concerned never replied me with negative words. My post was just a warning to other applicants expecting their AM or those planning to travel without seeing their visa first. If you don't have anything to contribute you ignore rather than insulting a contributor. |

For your mind now, you were actually being helpful or what? Clearly the guy/girl gave almost 15 days from the time he sent his envelope. So what exactly are you blabbing about? You just ended up increasing tension for person pikin, mtchew TUNDEMI1: Well it has been said here that it's not advisable to book your flight or choose a travelling date when you haven't seen your visa. On the AM email they state it there write a PROPOSED travelling date, take note of the capital later. They later write try not to choose a date 7 days earlier than the date you receive your envelope. If am wrong please I can be corrected that's what I saw in my own AM |

Time for my own transcript
I had my interview yesterday, left my house around 4:30am and arrived 5:10am or thereabout. Paulinus approached us 1 hour later and started shouting that we should go and drop our bags at the car pack, I left and came back luckily to retain my number 4 position, which normally is not allowed. Started the document sorting, which in my opinion is useless according to the sequence Paulinius has in his head.
Number 1 tension I used my IELTS certificate I got 7 years ago for a biographically old document, but Paulinius wouldnt have that, thank God I came with my Visaless old passport.
Went in to the interview area and was later called out to the entrance, as there were two other VOs there.
Interview started casually.
1. Name of School? 2. Private? Yes 3. How are you paying? Scholarship+student loan+out of pocket 4. BSc? Act. Sci. 5. Intended Msc.? MiM 6. What is the connection? I gave hime 7. Why MiM? 8. Why not Nigeria, UK, USA or Canada? 9. Have you funded? Yes 10.Resumption date? 18th of Sept. 11. Plans after studies? To come back and manage my brother's bus. 12.As what? Manager or Director 13. Tell em about Germany and Berlin 14. Capital of Luxembourg? Lux. City 15. Do you speak German? No 16. So you didnt learn German here and you want to go there to learn? Yes, but my course is taught entirely in English, to which he said ok.
"That will be all, any question for me? to which I answered No, well we are good with you, tell your school to contact the Ausländerbehörde and have a nice day" |

For everything you have make sure they are in three copies each, one original and two other copies(including the ones you did yourself e.g CV) Write three copies of your motivation letter. Try and keep every copy under the original, so that when that bitch Paulinus starts shouting you will be able to drop them easily against each other (do this because it will make it very simple and easy for you) OJM1: Good evening all, please I need assistance with arrangements of documents.
1. For the originals do I have to add copies of CV and admission letter. 2. The motivation letter is it 3 pairs or 2
Like do I need 3 photocopy of everything.
Thank you |

Sakasitay: Thank God for His Grace.. It was a successful interview - and my wishes were granted. I was interviewed by the guy in a punk haircut. He has no problem - so easy going and reassuring.
So, I woke up by 2:54 am, six minutes before my alarm rang. I zoomed off to VI around 3:50 am. It was tough to find a parking space, and I was like "wetin be this one again?" Eventually I got a parking space opposite the Indian Embassy.
I got to German Embassy gate by 4:49, and was number two on the queue. We all lined up there until about 5:40, when we saw a slightly bald man arranging sits and stools, and giving orders to the police men - and I realised that was the Great Mr Paulinus.
He barked here and there, and all we kept saying was "sorry sir, we are sorry sir". We did all the routine security checks and sat for our turns at the Visa section - It felt like the abroad man. So I got a notification to enter the third cubicle:
Me: Good morning V.O : Welcome to the German Embassy. So, is it for Bsc or Masters? Me: It's for MSc please.
V.O: which school are you going to? Me: University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart. V.O: for which program? Me: I'm going to study MSc International Business and Economics. V.O: Can I have your documents please? The original and copies... Me: Passed them through the counter, and paid for the Visa fees as well. V.O : I need an extra passport photo please. It should be on white background. Me: I checked my pocket and I saw passport photos in red background. (Lmao, I've been trusting my village people for being good people all these years, why would they come and fall my hand at the interview nau?) Luckily I found and extra photo. I passed it on.
V.O : why study this course in Germany, when you can actually study it in Nigeria?
Me: Actually, I've chosen to study it in Germany because no university offers it year as a joint degree, in addition, the approach in Nigeria is not interdisciplinary in context (or nature).
V.O : Why Germany and not UK, Us or Canada? Me: Germany offers best value for education, and its universities are more affordable than those in the me too education countries. The unis in Germany are highly ranked in the World University Rankings.
V.O : why this course?
Me: I want to study this course, so that I will attain a management position in the nearest future. I want to gain skills in applying econometric methods in the solving of management problems. I will also learn how business is approached from a global perspective. It will also help me to expand my professional network.
V.O : After this course, what next?
Me: Come back to Nigeria (as if) just in time to help my company plan and strategize on how we are going to expand our business to ECOWAS nations like Ghana and Ivory Coast. I will like to be in the team that will set the plans and strategies... Furthermore, in the future, the knowledge from course will be needed, so that I can render management consultancy services to the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, where I would give advice on how to develop strategies for enhancing Nigeria's exportation, and to give the ministry a sense of globalization. I believe that this will be my way of contributing to the country.
V.O : I hope you have a motivation letter Me: Yes, an original and two copies, please.
V.O : Have you paid school fees.
Me: No, not yet. The uni strictly said that I should pay after I must have got a Visa.
V.O : Have you learnt German?
Me: I have not registered for a course at the institute, but have been learning online, so that when I get to Germany, I will intensify the study at any institute there.
V.O : Facts about Germany
Me: (The normal yarns. Just that I added jara in my own. I even mentioned the three seas which the rivers flow into)
V.O : is that all?
Me: (I gave a shout out to Angela Merkel, and Frank Walter Steinmeier, and the dates they assumed office, and the roles the play, then I mentioned that the President has no party)
V.O : Are you sure he has no party? I mean, if you say plays a neutral part, it doesn't mean he has no party.
Me: yes, he was in the CDU before he became president and assumed neutrality.
V.O : where did you graduate from? And which year? What have you been doing since.
Me: I graduated with a Bsc in Marketing from the University of Port Harcourt. Graduated in 2015 and convoked in 2016. I got a job as a graduate intern, until it was time for nysc, and the company retained me as an nysc staff, and subsequently gave me full time employment.
V.O : Do you have any questions?
Me: Yes. Please, I was told to bring a biometrically old document, should I submit my ID card? Oh! Here's my scratch card.
V.O : we don't need the ID card. Sign this paper and copy the email address. Once you fund a blocked account, kindly send us an email for confirmation. Henceforth, all communication will be via email. That would be all...
In addition, don't let Paulinus get to you. Be obedient and don't do what you were not asked.. Did he give you back your passport? I am the guy that was behind you |

phodio: Was in this situation last month. My options were Zenith, First bank, and Gtb. Although I heard Gtb Dom services is good but I still went to all to get their forms and for answers to my enquiries. They require same documents to open: ID card(passport, driver's license, etc), utility bill(phcn, water etc) and two references from current account holders from any bank(not salary accounts tho). I think that's all(if memory serves me right). You can walk up to them and ask.
But I was more particular about the transfer charges because the block account payment can only be made twice due to daily limit. Zenith is 70€/eqv of 70$ (can't remember) per transfer, making a total of 140. It was much from the charges I got from first bank and Gtb, with first bank being slightly better. The only glitch for me with first bank is that they require initial deposit of 100€ and I wasn't ready for that.
So, I decided to go for Gtb : forms to fill are simple and straight to point(except you don't have an account with them) , charges are cheap and cheaper than others if it's an inflow into your account and not desk deposit by your aboki/you. And charges can be paid in naira as I was told, which is cool.
Good luck I opened with Firstbank recently and the lady that attended to me told me that the operating balance is 50 euros. I did not really ask about transfer charges. I guess it didn't occur to me. Opened it and got my account number same day. It is faster to open where you already have an account. |

Fustinachichi: Anyone coming to Lagos for interview pls stay away from EXTENDED STAY GRAND HOTEL (behind Canadian Embassy)..those people are thieves, they will make u book a room online (10,500)...when u get there, they will tell u they don't have any room for that price that their room starts from 14k. ....and the rooms are absolutely not worth the money...and a plate of rice and chicken is 3k. ...as in....
Better places to stay are New world Inn(7k), even Sapper Lodge(12k)....(don't be scared about walking alone around 5:30am, that place is really okay and safe, u will even see a lot of people out at that same time, even the queue @us embassy is ridiculous)
Secondly if u are coming from abuja like me, pls ignore those hungry airport workers, they told me getting to VI cost 7k and only for me to later ask a friend and they told me it's btw 3-5k...Lagos people have problem with integrity, I swear!...don't trust anyone in Lagos...and yes their girls wear really really short things(I was shy on their behalf)and can be very very rude why not just download Uber app.. even if its just that one time....Airport Taxi is expensive. |

kfrosh: Thanks so much for your reply. I will start doing extensive research on it since I have a chance.
Do I have to take the GRE? I have TOEFL already. From my own little knowledge, take GRE or GMAT and make sure you get a very high mark, if not it becomes useless. I don't think you need TOEFL that much, rather channel that money to duolingo Complete these on time and then make enquiries with an elaborate universe of universities. You will be fine. Note: Sometimes GMAT and GRE shows how smart you are and that you probably didn't do well in school because of reasons beyond your control. |
