Enyinne: Please have anyone tried to use tiles inplace of interlocking stones for their compound finish / car park . How economical will it be ? Please share ur experience as am thinking of trying it out. There are tiles for external floors with fantastic grips even when wet available in Orile, but they are quite pricey. |

twinskenny: We did it Here sha.... but the hook was attached to the roofing main wood truses Very possible my Oga. The fan hook attached to the main wood trusses, so far it totally avoids the noggin that holds the POP ceiling. All this would have been taken into consideration after roofing before the ceiling design. But that Oga's case is different. Project all done and also a rented apartment? Reason why he need to perish the idea. |

Pop & wall screeding
Neat and straight edges.. screeding not needed.. You're doing a good job, well done. Screeding a pre-cast ceiling might not be compulsory, but it is necessary to give a better finish. You'd even mistake it for a gypsum finish |

n3xt: I agree completely. That’s exactly the job I’m paid to do.
I’m currently managing a very complex situation in a build. Two sets of artisans. One is extremely good. The other is average and the client has commissioned them both.
I told the client one will work at the back whole the other will handle the approach of the building.
On my current job, I’m currently working with the designer of this particular project below on the exterior cladding. So it’s really not a job for everyone. Executed by yours truly. Please tell the 'designer' Dominion sends his regards.

n3xt: Maybe it’ll cost a little more but at N3,000 / 0.6sqm (excluding studs and installation cost which is considerably reasonable), I think the cost would be cheaper than plastering/screeding/painting or plastering and applying tiles to achieve same result in the long run.
The pics below are naija installs. Currently working on one, would share final looks here and on kobocity.
I agree completely but it can’t be compared with the benefits of a material that offers more in terms of value.
1. Low maintenance 2. Durability (doesn’t crack or warp) 3. Aesthetically pleasing 4. Waterproof / Fireproof
Not new though. @dominionng has been using this for years. Way up boss. |

kopell: Can you explain what you’re referring to as screeding in precast POP. If am not mistaking you’re referring to sheetrock as we call it abi. If it is what do you screed on it, the joint of everything you do I believe ishould be part of your job to bring the finishing out to apply paint when finished. Can you post some of your job samples to understand what you mean by screeding on sheetrock. I’m thinking of it myself because of a lot of advantages it’s as, my concern is just the extra woods that may require in above average project. POP precast ceiling is totally different from Sheetrock. DancingSkeleton: Is this quotation fair at all? Total sqm is 233 233 x 6,000 = N1,398,000 Covers for your precast ceiling with screeding of the CEILING. IF you are worried of the quality of the job, a trusted member can volunteer as an escrow, and funds will only be released when is completed and verified. Your precast POP ceiling comes out BETTER when screeding is applied on the ceiling, but the above quote doesn't have screeding materials included. |

The one I shared his story above is a BIG pastor in RCCG Baba, I've had my share of wonderful diaspora clients. Even a handful I'm still working for at the moment. Likewise some dubious and pompous fellows. Many years back when I was still ignorant, right here on Nairaland, with my interior enterprise, I execute diaspora client's projects without mobilization. Since the story has always been how vendors default on agreements, then I decided to get payment only when projects are 100% completed and accessed, since I personally can get materials from my suppliers and pay later. This made me to win a lot of client's trust, but reality sets in when some clients started defaulting. I was almost ran out of business which made me to start doing things differently. Millions of naira still pending till date. |

EgunMogaji2: I refuse to believe that POP is the only way to go for ceiling in Nigeria.
I’ll like to see other materials that others have used recently.
Thanks. POP is not the only way to go ceiling in Nigeria, but it's definitely the most appealing out of the affordable ceiling alternatives(POP, suspended ceiling, "asbestos ceiling" and pvc ceiling) in the country. There is treated wood ceiling, flute panel ceiling, 3D ceiling and even flat insulated sheet rock ceiling like the 2nd pics you uploaded. These ceiling alternatives will conviniently rate 3 - 4 times the rate of POP precast ceiling. |

I opted for the iron grid, though more expensive, 3X the cost of using wood but the durability is assured against ferocious weather elements. Gratitude sir |

mank1234: Cc dominionng Muyi002: Chief n3xt,
From your experience, what is the ratio of bags/sponge to sqm. i.e. how many bags of POP cement will cover 1sqm or how many sqm will 1 bag of POP cement cover.
it is equally important for me in my calculations. any other person can assist o. Dominionng: It is charged per sqm. Volume, location and most importantly type of design are major factors in deciding rates per sqm. Don't let anyone deceive you that there is a fixed rate per sqm for POP ceiling. There is what I call Budget designs(image 1), Average design(image 2) and Luxury design(image 3) In budget designs, one is expected to use a bag of POP cement for 2.8 - 3sqm, 2 - 2.5sqm for average designs and 1 - 1.5sqm for luxury designs. So, since materials involve and time to achieve these designs ain't same, it is expected for rates to vary. Talk of quality ceiling or POP Precast vs Plasterboard is a discussion for another day. At the moment based on the present hike in POP materials, you can get a good ceiling from 4,000/sqm. Maybe a little lesser if your project is in the eastern part of the country(POP materials is cheaper in the east at the moment). The above was my reply to a similar question over a year ago. A bag won't get more than 3sqm even for a flat ceiling, likewise a bag might not get you more than a sqm for a complex design. |

Badgers14: How could one tell the difference between the nameless Chinese boards and the good boards like the German Knauf etc?
I know someone could say go to a dealer but sometimes the dealers repackage products.. you think you are buying the original, the real deal without knowing they repackaged a fake low quality product for you.
So is there any litmus test to tell the difference? 1. They have their names boldly written on them, with s/n and date of production at the edges, while the China boards are mostly nameless 2. Comes in single sheet, while the China boards are mostly double packed with a paper tape to bind them. See image 1 and 2 3. You can feel the strength by lifting both 4. Site test: Cut a small piece of both(like 1ft by 1ft), dip in water for like an hour, one comes out useless, while the other remain solid, can be dried and reused.

n3xt: Gradually, we are getting there.
Sir, since you know Saheed. You’ll definitely know they sell their accessories N400 naira pere and they sell N5500 and N6000 boards. I already mentioned that there are more expensive boards. And the standard charge of their installers is just N400 naira pere.
Now, that they sell knock-offs or China brand is another thing entirely. It’s for the client to decide just like when you go to market to buy Tiles. You’re not compelled to buy Spanish because someone said it’s the world’s best. You cut your coat according to your budget. What's my own if you choose to buy substandard plasterboards. Even with your 6k non gypsum packaged board, still not feasible at 4k/sqm for a designed/suspended POP ceiling. Whoever chooses to believe these joke figures does so at his/her own risk. Enough said |
