Jokes EtcRe: The heel/sole of your shoe breaks in front of a large audience? What will you do? by dominobaby(f): 6:03pm On Jun 03, 2005
Imagine that! shocked Once bitten, twice shy!

My heel once pulled off my way back home and thank goodness, it was in the evening and I was with a friend so I just sorta hopped home stylishly wink. Another good thing was that I was just a couple of streets away from home.

Now, if I am to face an audience, I will really scrutinize the slippers well well.

Nairaland GeneralRe: The Nigerian Police Force: How do you view them? by dominobaby(f): 6:26pm On Jun 02, 2005
I do not really value them, sincerely, because they are just a bunch of nuisance, some exceptional. What do you say about a scenario where they stop you, and while they are asking questions and they hear the noise of 'Ole, Ole', they take off, leaving you at the mercies of the deadly thieves?(this actually happened to my brother somewhere in Ikeja, recently)
They complain that they are not adequately paid, and so use that excuse to extort money from motorists, just because they are have weapons with which they could scare people sad. What then do you say of teachers who are also not adequately paid, do they go about harrasing people?

You need to watch foreign movies and see what the police force is like you'll love them and would not mind to be a part of them. These ones in Nigeria are not anything to reckon with.
TravelRe: So Many Young Men in Nigeria Planning to go to the US by dominobaby(f): 6:15pm On Jun 02, 2005
It is for greener pastures and a lot more reason. Adding to what Diakim pointed out, there are a lot of things that are not in place, there is nothing to encourage the youth or, so to say, assure him a good future. Some even prefer to stay back at home and not get into the university while they try out their 'runs', desperately seeking to leave!
EducationRe: Private Universities In Nigeria by dominobaby(f): 6:12pm On Jun 02, 2005
It is welcome news.
At least if you've got the money, you can send your children to a university without necessarily repeating the UME exams as i see that all you got to do to enroll into these private universities is your money - as in with whatever UME score, you could apply and get admitted.
FamilyRe: What Are Your Views On Divorce? by dominobaby(f): 4:53pm On Jun 01, 2005
Divorce most times is a result of rushed or forced marriages. People rush into marriages for a number of flimsy reasons.

"Marry in haste, repent in leisure" - that's what you get at the end of the day.

When you take time to find the one who really is the one for you, you would not for any reason divorce such one.
Jokes EtcRe: Do you have any funny anectodes? by dominobaby(f): 4:39pm On Jun 01, 2005
An old lady was standing at the railing of
the cruise ship holding her hat on tight so
that it would not blow off in the wind.
A gentleman approached her and said:
"Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be
forward, but did you know that your dress
is blowing up in this high wind?"
"Yes, I know," said the lady,
"I need both hands to hold onto this hat."
"But, madam, you must know that your privates
are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest.

The woman looked down, then back up at the man
and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is
85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!" tongue
BusinessRe: NEPA/PHCN: Cheap and unreliable vs. Expensive and reliable? by dominobaby(f): 3:07pm On Jun 01, 2005
I'd rather have an expensive and reliable good than the reverse. It's just that Nigerians would like inexpensive things though unreliable or even scarce just because there is a lot of poverty in the land.

But then, as Allenpowered said, they could just say it would be reliable/readily available when in actual fact, they are just out there to make money. But I think it is just good we be optimistic about the whole stuff and hope they really keep to their words.

FamilyRe: Adultery: Man or (Married) Woman - who is to blame? by dominobaby(f): 4:08pm On May 29, 2005
Whichever case: unmarried woman with a married man or married woman with an unmarried man, it still is adultery and both are to blame, cos they both willingly and consciously indulged in such act.
Jokes EtcRe: Do you have any funny anectodes? by dominobaby(f): 4:03pm On May 29, 2005
4 Insurance companies are in competition. One comes up with the slogan
"Coverage from the cradle to the grave."
The 2nd one tries to improve on that with
"Coverage from the womb to the tomb."
Not to be outdone, the 3rd one comes up with
"From the sperm to the womb."
The 4th insurance company really thought hard and almost gave upthe race, but finally came up with
"From the erection to the resurrection." grin
Jokes EtcRe: Nigerian Jokes by dominobaby(f): 3:56pm On May 29, 2005
{Em seun, the thread states jokes for April and May, guess you might have to extend it}Once in a conference, three scientist: an American, a German and a

Nigerian, were talking and bragging about the technological
advances their representative countries have achieved in the
field of medicine.
Says the American, "In Washington, there was a baby boy born
without forearms, so we attached artificial forearms on him. And
now that he is grown, he has become an Olympic professional boxer
and a gold medallist at that."
The German replied, That's nothing to what we have done back in
Berlin, there was a baby girl born without legs on her, she is 3
times marathon gold medallist in the Olympics!!"
The Nigerian interjected laughingly, "Is that all you have, just gold medallist? In Abuja, we have a baby born without a head! We
attached a coconut to the neck and he is now the president"
tongue

Christianity EtcRe: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by dominobaby(f): 10:18pm On May 27, 2005
It is actually biblical to tithe. " .... bring ye all the tithes ...."
A pastor would only tell you what he reads in the Bible and it is left to you.
It shouldn't be your ache what is done with the money, as long as you've obeyed God.

FoodRe: My Boyfriend Has Turned Me To A Cook: Could This Be Love? by dominobaby(f): 2:47pm On May 27, 2005
tayotina: He doesn't mind giving her money every now and then to do the cooking. What he wants to do is to turn her to a full housewife.
See ehn, as long as they are not married there is no reason she should be so stressed up at this stage of her life. They are not living together, is that to then say that she reports to his house after work everyday to prepare meals for him?

It is no big deal to cook for him, but when it becomes a do or die affair, I am afraid something is wrong. Let her displeasure be known to him and let them find a solution to it. He should wait until they are married before turning her to a housewife ( I don't support it o) and if she ain't okay with that let her find her way out.

It is more or less as if he is selfish, thinking only about his comfort. You can't please yourself at the other person's expense and discomfort and call it love.

Mtn Gprs? I'll be stunned if it actually is true, guess I have to start looking out for it on my dad's phone.

That's good, with the new gist of Vmobile coming up soon with it, it is a good development if all could have it because competition will make each of them SIT UP!
