It might surprise you to know that nigerian home videos are making waves outside. I recently heard a newsbrief about washington post reporting that a whooping sum of money was being made annually, selling nigerian home videos. (i'll update this post with the exact figure) |
I use a Nokia 1100. I like it because of its size and that it's got *long battery life; *folders like inbox, draft and sent items; *powerful flashlight (extremely useful!) and a lot of other good features. It hasn't got wap, but I am not bothered because I use vmobile. As soon as it is available, I'll get another Nokia. Always Nokia for me. |
The virus's usually spread via bluetooth so if your not using it leave it switched off
While on viruses spread via bluetooth, some bluetooth enabled devices allow you to choose whether or not your device is visible to other devices. You can put your device into a non-discoverable state so that you are invisible to other bluetooth devices. |
Here's a little bit of advice my father gave me back in the days. When I would get down or frustrated about any little thing, he would say "stop frowing and looking so unhappy. force yourself to smile on the outside and you'll eventually become happy on the inside". At first I did not fully grasp what I was being told, but I took it to heart and discovered that it worked. If I caught myself in a foul attitude and made a conscious effort to snap out of it - by smiling, thinking happy thoughts, directing my mind towards good things - gradually i began to change. Here's the key: Realize that YOU ALONE are responsible for your thoughts. The first step to take is to Admit you have a bad habit. This can be very difficult because habits become practically invisible to us. They have become such a normal activity that our brain no longer consciously notices them. |
I haven't experienced it and i don't pray for such because it is absolutely terrible. I have got a second hand experience. A friend of mine was and hers was a worse case because both parents re-married and she being the only fruit of the marriage was left on her own. So bad. ![]() The children of such breakups/seperation are always vulnerable to so many evils. For me(as per your story) at first, it would be hard to forgive, but i will give in in the end. |
Everyone struggles with them, here's how to beat them. Do you know someone with a bad habit - or several bad habits? Perhaps you have a friend who has the nervous habit of biting his fingernails. Or the foul habit of smoking or drinking too much. Maybe you know some one who just can't seem to shut up! Not all habits are bad of course. Much of what we do everyday is a matter of habit. These habits save us time, because we don't have to think about whether to put on our socks or shoes first. But unfortunately while we are learning from our daily experiences and developing useful habits, we can also form bad habits. Not one person who reads this article is completely without bad habits. Let's identify habits and look at some ways to overcome bad or harmful habits. Perhaps you can tell us one of your habits you have overcome. |
Amaka, seems I am getting things all mixed up here. If he is your senior, then he is no longer younger than you are. could you please rephrase your statement? |

You guys did a good job with enumerating all the traffic offences. What I think is the reason for the high fine on such offences is that they know quite alright that Nigerians will still err. Take for instance, the issue of crossing the highway when there is an available bridge starring right at your face. I know people who have stopped this because they had to pay a huge fine for that. Nigerians yack a lot on phone and not many of them know that they should use handsfree. Remember, [FRSC officials] are all out to generate revenue and when they know things like that are rampant, they make a move to make money from that. As for these danfo drivers, they are reckless without a phone, not to talk of when they are to receive calls while driving. |
I beg your pardon drwhopl! What is that supposed to mean? You are not forgiven until you tayotina: withdraw that statement about Nigerian girls being greedy.Haba! The fact that it is all fairy tales to you does not mean you should make such conclusion. |
I feel more comfortable when I am dating a guy older than me (and please not more than 2-3 yrs). ed: In answer to, "would you marry a younger man?" Well, if he really is the man for me, why not? (but abeg not up to a year younger) |
Offences would surely come in a place like this. He is back and I guess we should let sleeping dogs lie. The forum matches forward, with or without him. |
yeah trish, a colleague @ work was telling me same thing bout Stephanie this morning. too bad. I got to watch the summary of events on STV though not all: Best Female Actress; Genevieve Nnaji Best Male Actor: RMD (ed: Richard mofe Damijo) Best Supporting Actress: Omotola. Rita's site is definitely cool and I especially like the concept of the video talk to her fans. Seun are you sure it is only that animation that made you "fall in love" with her? Because if you ask me, her site is more like something else ... ![]() |
Though I don't fancy home videos, before I watch anyone of them, I look out for certain actors/actress I reckon with. Trish you could not be more correct. Seun if you are to go by looks you would definetly not put Rita first on the list when you've got stunning actresses like Nnaji, Omotola, Aboderin, (my siblings and I still argue on who is more stunning), Liz Benson(though not regular these days). My favourites definitely are those who have the acting talents/abilities and not just out there to make money or fame and they include those mentioned earlier, Bimbo Akintola and Eucharia. For the actors, RMD, Jide Kosoko, Pat Attah, and partially Ramsey. I used to like Pete Edochie until I watched one very annoying film of his. By the way could we include favourite home videos? For me, 'Keeping Faith' still remains one of the best home videos ever I watched. I could go on and on watching it and would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend. |
I only just got to pass through the Bar Beach area today on my way to the island, and what a terrible sight. Most of the stalls there had been destroyed, blown away, though some of those who trade there still were there. The road is still heaped with sand and debris, though vehicles passed that side of the road. I feel, proper research should be done as to how they are to fight against this ugly trend. It not only affects the residents but the companies around the vicinity. |
Ka, that is a briliant concept on the flyer stuff. I think that should be implemented. More ideas......... |
The idea is welcome and I quite agree, since there are sections, there are no need for extra threads, rather they should be contained within the section. I quite made same slip at the early stages of nairaland. By the way, seun, I don't quite understand the thread 'recycle bin'. |
c0dec, is that to suggest that you actually chat and have met a few of these women? ![]() |
This thread reminds me of a joke, lol: A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your bible a little and get your hair cut and we'll talk about it." After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father's study where his father said, "Son, I've been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut!" The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know Dad, I've been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair...." To which his father replied...."Yes, and they WALKED everywhere they went!" ![]() |
Yeah, thanks Hidden hunter, I did see the invitation and have created the account. Thanks also, Seun. |
I chat but have never really got down to dating any one of them, i've got friends online and we even call each other, it's just fun for me, and i could never really take it farther than that. For those who meet and later get married, i often wonder what kind of courtship they had, cos the internet may be able to guarantee you a perfect wedding but it can never guarantee you a successful marriage cos it takes much more that knowing a person's physical statistics, job description, strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes as written on a data form on a website to really know the person. |
Can anyone pm me the gmail invitation? I need one too. Thanks in anticipation. |
If we start from telling friends and colleagues we could go a long way because that is how I also got to know about mobile nigeria. The sticker stuff is a brilliant idea, with a fluorescent catchy colour. |
I don't object to the editing because there is hardly anything meaningful you do without editing it for better output, shey? and buttressing what trish said, movies are equally edited so you have a good feel and understanding of what it all contains! Moreso, I think there is really no big deal cos Seun has simply stated I imagine that Nairaland is a different kind of forum: * Nairaland wants to be taken seriously. * Nairaland wants to be as readable as a newspaper. * Nairaland wants people to take time to compose their thoughts. * Nairaland favors the sort of language that anybody can understand. * People using the Internet for the first time should feel at home here. * Nairaland wants to be clean enough for even the President to participate. So welcome to the Nairaland World! People who come here are not here because they want "a forum". They are here because they want to share ideas/knowledge with many other Nigerians. I believe that we need to project a certain kind of image to get there. thanks. |
@Allenpowered, you made very important points but , If you say that the average nigerian should be aware of whatever before venturing into the polytechnic, then I think you are wrong! Probably in the past such person should have but not now dear brother, when JAMB jambs u enuf, you would have a rethink! I then concur with you when you say things are not in place in Nigeria here, sad really . Just like seun said, I think really, if the polytechnic graduates are not going to be accepted in the same way as a university graduate is, then there is absolutely no reason why the POLYTECHNIC should be existing, "simply systematically convert them"! Getting down to the basics, let us see how some people end up being polytechnique graduates; You are out of secondary school, and you seat for the UME the first time, you get an average mark of say 220 and the cut off is way above, for your desired course you don't get admitted, unless of course, you've got some "godfather" or a "bulging pocket ! You then think, rather than waste further time at home, let me attempt the PCE. Alright, you attempt, pass, and start up your National Diploma programme......Things are not just working the way it ought to be. For chris' sake these same hnd graduates spent 5 yrs in the Polytechnic, why then should they be treated so? |
The Internet is awash with information both useful and banal. In a very real sense, the entire Internet is becoming (or rather is) one extremely large globally distributed and mostly public electronic library, post office and discussion forum (nairaland! ), alongside online dating.Websites and chat rooms often post pics of smiling happy couples that met through them and are now "living hapily together" Folks, what do you think about these? When you get to a chat room, what is your intention/motive? Can you meet a guy/girl online, date and later get married? Let's share. My brother's friend recently (last year) met a Canadian girl online and they are married now. Do you think it is weird or cool? |
