rockar: abeg is it compulsory to pay for accomodation if cdhc directs u to do? because how can one pay for accomodation u have not seen? im just curious. cos one may decide to live with a friend when one gets there. what does one do if cdhc directs someone to pay for accomodation, but u wanna stay with a friend and u dont even want cdhc to know? anything one could say or is everybody paying for accomodation ?

From my experience on this site, you can arrange for off-campus accommodation. Get a letter wit full contact of your landlord, stating the accommodation is available for you and you've agreed to pay on arrival because your school warned new students not to pay for accommodation until you arrive. Print a page of that info and attach it wit d letter. You can get a letter from the off-campus accommodation unit of your school too.

If you wish to live with a friend, it's better if you won't b sharing a single room.
Write a letter to explain why you wanna live wit your friend. E.G you're a JJC (b smart wit ur reasons n pls, don't shoot yourself on d leg)
Tell your friend to write a letter too, with his full contact, that you're gonna b living wit him. Get d copy of his bills and attach wit d letter.

I checked my U of R portal just now. Decision made, not accepted... I tank God for MUN.

I don dey try arrange another statement of account. I spoke wit my sponsor, n she agreed to fix it...her bal is 5m+ as @ today...I tank God say she understood me.
I go print anoda statement on monday by God's grace...

they no just trust us ni...All they asked in the other checklist form are

all the CDHC forms
proof of funds
Acceptance letter
international passports
Visa fee
and 2 passport photographs...shikena

and any other docx required by the VO after submission...
I think this checklist is for the advanced countries like USA

But if you have a good travel history, you may neglect.. it's just for home ties tingy

onuawuchi: Evaluate my profile and see if okay for visa application submission. I was given admission to the MA program in Economics at lakehead University. My sponsor is my eldest half sister. The list below are some of the supporting documents I've provided to back up my application.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION DOCUMENTS:

* I'm the only child of my mother, but I have half sibling who love me like their own.One of them is my sponsor

* Will be provided by my half sister. And I'm sure it wont be much of a problem for her.

MISCELLANEOUS DOCUMENTS
1. An SOP that puts all these and much more in perspective.
2. A resume
3. An attached letter requesting for use of int'l passport (My passport will expire by January 2014, while my program ends by September 2015)
4. Certificates of stores owned by my parents.

MY ADMISSION LETTER.... I almost forgot that one.

SO people, with all these do you think I'm ready to jump the hurdle?

lucky Don: ?Does cdhc accept photocopied dox that is certified by the court?they are just land Certificate of occupancy and business registration dox...because they stated in their checklist that all dox submitted in support of your app must be originals.I would have submitted the originals but my sponsor will be needing it in a month' time.am just in a dilemma now.what do i do?

My tuition na $7,396.07 per semester. ($14,792.14 for one year ). B4 I applied to CDHC, I paid tuition for one semester.

Bros I tink d closing bal matters a lot! Somtims dey don't bother(or hav d time) to go thru d SOA to see d cash flow. They may jst luk at d closing bal & mak decision(dey may assume dt ur sponsor has so many dependents or so much obligations dt is draining d acct). U knw say dem dey luk 4 excuses to deny ppl, so don't giv dem one! My 1st app in 2012 ws denied because of fund! My sponsor (elder bro) had a closing bal of abt 1.6m & inflow of abt 40m within 6mnths but I ws denied based on insufficient funds. My advice is to go with fhemmmy: wait till she builds d acct to abt 5m. All d best sir.

I checked the forms, The check list is different too. Am confused right now. and I noticed differences in the size of the the Application for a Study Permit Made Outside of Canada form [IMM 1294] the old one is 1297kb ( new is PDF, 342 KB)

Fhemmmy: I think the advice that someone gave you till end of the month is an excellent one as well, cos for her to tell you that even if na 500K Naira dey the account doesn't matter means she is not really willing to run the account just for the sake of your visa anymore, cos of the confidence she has in the account data, while she has a fact, you wanna cover your butt and have good enuf info for the embassy.

GboyegaD: Is she expecting any deposit soon? If yes, you could choose to wait for the funds to come in and then print the statement. Another option is based on your explanation, if she gets her statement monthly, then you could use it up to the end of month where she had a balance of N3.8m and also attach the housing document.
Above all, in your letter of interest, find a way to explain the relationship between you, the reason why she is funding you, the nature of her job/business and how her cashflow operates. If possible, get her accountant to give you the statment of her cash flow to show that she is financially fit to sponsor you. You could also choose to add that "because of the value she places on education and to ease her of the financial burden, you both agreed on your choice of school for its overall quality in your field as well as the low cost of tuition and living expense compared to other pronvinces in Canada". That way, it shows you are tactical in your approach to real life issues.

She's out of town. I don't think I can get her to print another one.
Do you think the closing balance would pose any probs?
When i called her, she said even if it is 500k, that it doesn't matter.

Hello peeps, mr siga n all. Pls advice me on this issue

Am about to complete my TRV application but sadly, i have a problem wit my sponsor's account. I got d statement today.
Here is d summary
Opening balance(Bal B/F) 19.8m
Closing balance 1.6m
Total credit 22m
Total Debit 40.2m

As @ 15th oct, she had 19.8m den, it droped bit by bit to 13m @ 13th november. She withdrew n deposited sum cash in d process tho. She Deposited abt 6.2m and withdrew abt 12.8 during dat period.

As @ 30th november, The bal dropped to 4m( during dat persiod, she deposited 5.4m n withdrew abt 14.4m)

As @ december 2012, d balance dropped to abt 77k, den it rose to an average of 4m in early february 2013(during that period, she made many transactions too. Both in and out).

By late february 2013, d bal dropped to 50k ( she made transactions during dat period too. Debit n credit.

As at end of march, she had 3.8m as d balance. N it dropped bit by bit to 2.3m by april 10 (last week friday)

Then, as at today, the balance is 1.6m..(Closing balance)

Sponsor is my aunt and she's willing to give me a C of O of one of her properties in support of her wealth.

In addition, i've paid my full tuition, $3936. accommodation fee is $4566. Odas $8800

Total cost of studies (accommodation + extra 10000- tuition) = $14566 about 2.3m

but i wrote $20000 as funds available for studies. about 3m

Haaaa Bros! Are you a learner? we don't spoon feed pple here ooo.
You can help yourself. 80% of schools in canny does not ask toefl from Nigerian students. if not 90% self.
Just go to google, search for schools in canada, choose any of your choice and check for admission requirements. one out of 10 would ask for toefl.

Most of the people here go through VAC. I think they charge about 5000..Am not sure abt the figure tho, cos I haven't applied before.
meanwhile, you might wanna go to the embassy and join a loooooooong queue. they don't charge for that

I don't think you need the toefl. Most schools in Canada wave it for Nigerian students.

Please I have a few questions with regards to Canadian study visa. I just currently got an admission to Concordia Uni and I would like a few pointers.

1. I'm not in the country at the moment so I'd be applying at the Canadian Embassy where I reside. My problem is I've been out for 5 years and I have no links or ties back home in terms of properties, shares etc. How best do you think I can scale this hurdle.

2. I just got married and I'm considering taking my wife with me. My school fees for a year is $21,000 and yearly expense would be approximately $10,000 excluding my wife. How much do you think is sufficient enough to have in the bank account for both of us.

3. what reasons can I give for her accompanying me?

4. Should she apply for a TRV or work permit as I read spouses can apply for either visas when accompanying their hubby.

All answers would be highly appreciated.

About the home ties, If I were you, I would apply alone first, so that my wife would be my tie to wherever we/she reside. Then, we would make plans for her later. The reason would be simple by then, we've just got married and we missed ourselves. Shikena

As per the cash, total of your tuition and living expenses plus few extra thousand dollars should be ok. You can add your wife's statement of account too, that would show that, she has money to cater for herself.

Onye oma: The last time I made inquiry @ 1st bank for payment via form A, I was reliably informed that that they're upgrading the system to make the transaction automated...by now, they must have been thru,it will now be like credit card transaction,no longer taking days to be confirmed...
I also think their charges are not that high based on what they told me...
