I heard sumtin like your case @ VFS....their was a lady wit a passport dat wud xpire in 7 months. She was advised to renew it first..the VFS guy said if one have a valid canada study visa, n your passport expires b4 it. You'll have to come bak home to reapply for the visa.

hayek: Just this morning I got medical call from CDHC.I submitted online on May 2nd. No payment for tuition nor payment for boarding. I think they must have seen that I am capable to pay based on the account I submitted with $32,400. I am self-sponsored. I have been to Canada for 6 times since 2005 but last year I applied but was turned down cos of no sufficient despite having a valid visa running then. I then traveled to Canada last year for my holiday and used the opportunity to apply inside Canada for student permit but was refused and said I would need to apply outside Canada and that I am not the applicant referred to in the law. I did medical last year in Canada and mentioned it that I did in my application. I didnt hold any information back. What I would suggest at this forum is to be honest as possible with your application and documentation you are using to support the application. Any mis-information is a red flag to turn down an application. Again make your application simple and convincing.

There are many folks in this forum who are skillful in offering advice and for those who are about to apply take the pain to read previous posts. Dont be lazy. Despite the fact that I have a good travel history I gained a lot from this forum. Nobody has monopoly of knowledge. There is no one plus one equal two on this forum. Take pain to read posts and take decisions based on your own case. Each case are not the same even though you are applying for the same visa category.

Good luck to those who are expecting their own medicals. All the best to those who have secured their TRV.

Well, i've never seen such case.

If you're asked to pay full tuition n accommodation, you can (must) pay the full tuition n leave d accommodation. But you have to give a reasonable explanation n evidence on y you won't pay for accommodation.
For example, G-rock's homestay letter.

lyfe: I have a little suggestion for all intending to study in Canada. It is best you enroll yourself in a diploma or post graduate diploma program that spans for period of 2 years. Opting for longer or shorter program is not advisable as I know the ultimate aim of majority, if not all, is to migrate and integrate themselves into the system. There is a program that facilitates your residency and citizenship if you opt for any of the aforementioned programs.

People going for master's program have a slim chance of staying longer legally to qualify for residency or citizenship as it does not last for more than 18 months and you only get a year work permit and if you think of doing a Bsc. program which is 4 years; that's conservatively 60,000 CAD , that is a whole lot of money to spend for Canada being a foreigner and don't think you will be able to hustle some part-time work to patch-up things. That said, the diploma programs are the only fastest way to integrate yourself to the system if you are not planning to do anything illegal like marrying, impregnating citizen or stowing away.

School sent me a letter to give the Cdhc...

Since it's d school's policy n you have a letter to back it up...then, you're good to go.

Mind you, MUN told my friend the same tin as your school, but he insisted that, he want to pay b4 arrival because it's CDHC policy here in 9ja n he doesn't want to travel with a lot of cash.


So, He was directed to anoda officer in d sch. Who told him he can make a deposit in his student acct.

So, if you've bin talking to the sch's admission officer, try to talk to someone in Finance dept, student union. Etc..n explain your situation CLEARLY..tell d person that, you won't register until arrival, but you want to pay your tuition b4 u arrive cos of the embassy's policy n you don't want to travel with cash.


JUST PAYMENT NOT REGISTRATION. Let them understand this.


In addition, if everytin na same tin,n you're afraid, you can tell your uncle to open a canadian acct for you n move the cash dere....My tots tho..wisdom No fit finish on earth, make we find am go heaven....*wink*

Apply without d NYSC cert. You don't need to put any introduction letter or call up letter...i know sum1 dat got her TRV without serving.
The VO requested for it during Medic, all she did was, she wrote a letter that she wud come bak n serve after her program.

VCTROKOYE: I have collected my letter from vfs and the instruction is that i have to pay my one year tuition and accommodation within one month. I have the money for tuition($13,500) but i don't have enough for accommodation. pls how do i take care of this accommodation? after paying the tuition i will still have about $1500 left. That can't take care of accommodation

Option 1. You can arrange a year off campus accommodation..reach an agreement with Your landlord that you won't pay until u arrive canny cos your sch warned against payment without seeing the property. Get a detailed later frm him/her about the agreement, attach a copy of the warning page frm your school's website.

Option 2, pay for on campus accommodation for one semester, then, write a letter to CDHC that you wish to stay off campus but you have arranged for on campus for one semester, so that you'd have more time to settle down n search for a good off campus accommodation of your choice against the following semesters.

Your CGPA is alright, I don't think you need the Toefl n GRE...
Most schools waive Toefl for Nigerian students....
Make the internet your friend, don't b lazy, search for schools n check their requirements.
