She's my aunt..Mum's half sister (same mother) My mum will get her birth cert to that effect cos she doesn't have any at the moment.
My sponsor have 4 children, 3 are married and one is doing her masters in canada. She's the only dependant.
She's willing to sponsor me cos she raised me from childhood.
I have 3 siblings, 2 in uni, n one in secondary school.

the sponsor's docx i intend to provide are
1.comprehensive letter of sponsorship introducing me, stating that she has been responsible for my up keep n edu, the cost of my sch fees at the uni cos i attended a private uni, number of dependents, etc
2. Affidavit of sponsor
3. statement of account
4 she go state in the affidavit that all other docx will be provided on request. cos i fink there are some docx d VO wud think you shouldn't have access to like, cert of business n properties..Reason, what if she go need those docx for her business n personal tins. what if she sef go need her birth cert to travel or do other stuffs. Remember the docx go spend more that 3 months with CDHC.

I want to study economics MA...my plan is to narrate in my SOP that after my studies, I wish to come back home to meet my family, work, and passionately contribute to my country and its future. My greatest ambition is to be involved in economic policy as an advisor and also, as an entrepreneur in order to develop my business which I operate with my mother. Applying economic principles to markets is something I greatly enjoy bla bla bla.

Remember economic policies (research n oda eco probs) are needed in all business...the demand n supply stuff, marketing policies, n all that.

Fhemmmy: I will attend to this probably when i get home . . But i think we need more information on this business, what kinda service or business and are you the principal while she is the co-owner?

The nature of the business is manufacturing n selling of Adire textile.

I'm the principal and she's the co-owner. I've been into the business since 2006 when I was in higher institution, but i registered it this year.My mum has been into the biz for more than 25yrs.

MY sponsor is my aunt who raised me from childhood, n she's into the business too on a larger scale.

Fhemmmy: If you are applying for a visa in April, and you submit a document to the embassy with a date around December to show that you are tied to Nigeria and that you will be back to Nigeria, that will be so suspicious, so if possible, would be better not to submit such document oh.
I would advice if possible to have a company that will be a co-sponsor and show to the embassy that there is a job waiting for you once you are done with school . . . Are you married, if you are, that is another kinda ties, do family have some kinda business that you could take over later? Look into those kinda area

@ Mr Phemmy n all, I think I have something in common with goldie, I registered my business which my mum is a co-owner on 22nd of November 2012..I wish to include the certificate of incorporation in my application as part of my home tie. (pls note,I just finished school, currently serving but i've been into the business for long.
Do you think it'll affect me?

creamygirl: I got my TRV yesterday.I used a sponsor who was once my sisters boss with different surname and he is a muslim while I am a christian. He gave me a sponsor letter in wiz he stated he is my uncle, his business nature, name of his clients, his last employer before he retired, number of dependant as three out wiz two had their masters in UK with the name of school, his home address and introduced his wife too. He sworn an affidavit at an high court with his passport photograph and mine. He gave me his two personal account statements with over 10m. CDHC called me on friday to bring his tax clearance certificate and business registration doc after 2 weeks of submission of my confirmation of one year of tuition payment and temporary off-campus accommodation(guest house reservation). My status changed yesterday on my way to CDHC but I still dropped the requested docs there.
Documents Submitted includes
ND and BSc Transcript and certificates
Bank Statement
A good statement of intent
Employment letter and introductory letter from employer
3 month payslips
Birth certificates/sworn declaration of every member of my family witout my mums owns
I heeding to University of western ontario for MEng in civil engineering but hoping to change to MSc.
My advise is that you should follow the checklist and dont include too many document that might required verification and if you will do dat, try to back it up with an explanatory note or letter.

Nope,all the supervisors I wrote to didn't reply. So, I choose course based instead of research based program

Am asking this because I have a problem in my waec cert. I didn't make credit in English language and my Date Of Birth is one year higher than the one on my Int'l passport.
I have neco tho, but I don't think it is recognized at international level.

newmusic: People should take note that credit card is different from debit card.

You can pay via phone or online with your credit card, it's the easiest and fastest means, I have not used debit card for online payment, only at the location of transaction (POS).

Banks that issue credit card without much hassles are FCMB and GTB, however they will ask you to open a domm account which you will transfer money to the cc from. The whole process will take about 3 weeks to open domm and cc together.

So except you know someone who can help you about the payment ie who has cc,domm or other means cause of time.
You can also make bank transfer, quite slow and expensive, commission and percentage etc...

Yeah, Debit card is different from credit card but they serve the same purpose, the only difference is that; you can't make payment with your debit card if you don't have money in your account, but you can make payment with your credit card if you don't have cash in your account.

Apart from this difference, They serve the same purpose...
My uncle used his IBTC master debit card (ATM CARD) to make online transactions and withdrew pounds with the card in UK and from my experience with GTB, I don't think you need to open any dom acc cos I paid my admission fee with my GTB master debit card ( ATM CARD)....tho, I met with my bank to activate online transactions on my debit card and i bought a token. A token is like a key older with screen that displays number. the token will be linked with your account to derive security number...but I don't know how it goes with other bank.
Just try to walk into the bank and make enquiry about it. Tell them you want GTB Masternaira debit card.

Siga: ,,,efosa...I understand ur frustration but in Yoruba land ...they say if u fall from a horse the first time, u hop on it again..... i am a testimony to that....I applied twice before I got mine back in the days....the reasons they denied u are straight-forward and easy to tackle....now...they are not cool with u presenting a company acct....simple...ask ur bros to present his personal acct....remember, a company might be owned by 1 million people with ur bro being the major shareholder....that does not mean he has access to the company funds...personal accts is the best....once thats done...ask ur bro to have a lawyer make a list of his properties and investments in a notarized letter...and present most of the same docs u presented initially...dont change ur stance too much ...it is well

Fhemmmy: Discretion of the visa officer that looked after your application matters, and from what you have said here, if i was the officer too, there is a chance that i see your application as fraud - You have same last name with your brother and you work with him or for him, in a nation where pride is what most people put before their normal thinking . . . Please dont get me wrong, i am not saying you are fraud, i am only saying that working with your brother and using the account of same company, he might think that you are just using the company as a front and since they have seen a lot of that in Nigeria, they will always wanna assume most are fraud.
If you have good proof and your payroll or how money from the company goes into your account as your paycheck, you might be able to fight it.

freshdude: i think every department has room for both course based and research based program in the courses they offer. except they tell u specifically, that is only a research based, or course based program. which will be written specifically on their website. try and get in touch with regina before u pay ur application fee, so u will be sure of the one to apply for before applying.

mercylicious: University of Regina takes strictly 2.1 for masters.
If you want to apply for research based masters, know your research interest.
Go to the department page in the school websites.There, you will see list of lecturers and professors and their research interest.
Get the names of lecturers whose research interest are close to yours and write to him telling him you want him to be your supervisor.
Tell him ur research interset, ur background education, previous research and projects done etc, just market urself, tell him why he will be making a good choice by choosing you amongst the many ppl that apply for the few research positions available.
Also of note is that most of them dont reply mails, so after writing them, after a short while, u can call them on ohone to discuss it. also note we have time difference with canada. Make your call in the evening.

I will also advise that while you are applying for research based masters, also apply for a taught masters so that you wont waste time on admissions.If the research based masters is given to you, good and fine. Most times it comes with funding if its available. If u are not accepted for research based masters and you get a course based, you start processing your visa with the course based masters. You can get entry scholarship (if your gp and rating meets it) or after 6 months, you can get scholarship if your result is very good. Also u can change from course based to research based after 6 months if u make good grade cos by then, your lecturers must have known how good you are.
Most of my friends in Regina got scholarship after the 1st 6 months (5000 cad), cos they made very good grades and applied for the scholarships.

nivax21: @doomakeveli.CGPA of 3.85 is very good though some schools require a higher CGPA because I can recall applying to mcgill university(chemical engineering)and after securing a supervisor as well as communicating with the prof via skype,just a week later,I received a mail from the admission committee that my CGPA is not even low but very low(CGPA of 3.75)though I was still admitted to uottawa with the same CGPA.research based program is also very competitive

I'll advise u to apply for taught masters cos u might never get research masters coming from Nigeria.
We may have to get Nigerian student of good academic standing to speak to a lecturer on ur behalf.
