So here's what I think.

It is either you actually believe this write up which make you very paranoid in my opinion

Or you know it contains a lot of half truths and outright falsehood which makes you mischievous.

Either way, I see that you are aggressively yanking the chain of calamity.

First, you implied that Sanusi targeted Southern banks as the then CBN governor just to make sure that the south doesn't rise.

Then you tell us that he actually targeted Southern banks only because he wanted t get back at their CEOs.

This alone changes the narrative of what you are trying to tell us.

What exactly are you saying?

Are you saying that Cecilia Ibru wasn't corrupt?

Are you saying that the court was wrong?

Are you saying that Olusegun Obasanjo who was the President at the time (I believe) was also playing to the northern agenda?

While I won't rule out any extended and complicated mind games by the Northern oligarchy to keep power come 2023, I think your narrative might be a little off.

Yes, Sanusi is all over the news today.

I give it a couple of weeks more at the very most. And it is already very dead news...and this is just 2020.

I know you'll say before 2023, they'll plan other shenanigans, but it begs the question, why sack the man now?

Why not wait until 2022 at the most so that the man will just morph into a political gladiator after having used his position and prominence as an Emir up until 2022 to continue "speaking out for the truth" that seems to have endeared him to the people?

Why sack him now?

Nigerians don't have long term memory.

By 2022/23 they've forgotten about this case like it never happened.

That's my take.
Those who have been in the banking sector can tell us better. But for now I'll say time will tell.

In as much that I saw in the post that Sanusi will modernize Nigeria and not the north alone, then the north will take credit for the modernization...am not angry with that. All I want to see is Nigeria to grow.
Modernization is a subjective issue. It now begs the question, on whose definition are we to adjudge it?

If we in the south obey simple zoning to promote equity this things won't be an issue even

The only reason why north is even concerning runing is cos south is not United ....why is south not United the turn of the south east are not respected by the yorubas

Who do u blame the igbos that is insisting on their turn or yorubas that want to take igbos turn after having theirs ?

As it's stands now their is nothing like south ....it's better sanusi or any northerner rule than yorubas takes Igbo turn ...simple

U guys should quit calling for southern unity when u are the ones separating the south

Igbos have always followed equity n have always respected zoning even against our own ojukwu ...so why can't others
Of all the many reasons nigeria will not work, I can say the most obvious reason is that while the core north has an agenda, the west and the east just have mere interests...and then the middle belt have been suppressed, its like they don't even know what to do anymore. None of these appears beneficial to all.

Having said that, irrespective of who gets the presidency, every other region can never be pacified, either due to total disdain or just unnecessary rivalry.

The most beneficial solution is outright disintegration; peradventure we decide to merge in 20/50/100 years time, it will be based on concrete fundamentals whose results will be clear, logical and measurable.

I am the kind of person that does not let events fly without reflecting on them. This whole drama in the last few days, as has been several others in the past, is stamped all around with different shades of conspiracy. Many atrocities are being perpetrated in the country which the MSM deliberately refuses to carry, and then two events related to the dethronement and the Oshiomole ousting have been splashed in our faces in order to keep us from seeing what is really going on.

Time will tell, but the aim of this thread is a post I came across and think we should all see.

When I see most of us down south already singing songs of SLS being a good candidate for the presidency over a few hypocritical speeches, I shake my head in pity because we never learn. Maybe nigerians deserve the kind of leadership they get after all. cry

Feel free to support/oppose the cases the author presented, but I choose enlightenment over pettiness.

I separated the cases in different paragraphs so those of us who have a short attention span for long posts can easily glance through.

To all the Southerners expressing their opinions for or against Sanusi, I say take it easy. Let us siddon, buy popcorn and coke and be watching this movie.

There might be more to this than meets the eye. Whether this crisis is real or not, one thing I know about the North is that they never lose sight of their true goal or do anything to sabotage it: Total domination of Nigeria is their only ambition. When it comes to that, they stand together and they plan far ahead.

Under Obasanjo, with Okonji-Iweala as Finance Minister, and Soludo as CBN Governor, Southern Banks became very powerful, financing infrastructural and economic growth not only in Southern Nigeria but even in other African countries. Nigeria was on the way to becoming a true financial and economic powerhouse for the Black World. Southern Banks were a threat to Foreign Capital (West, Middle East and Far East) and also a threat to the Northern hegemonic plans.

When Sanusi was made CBN Governor under Yar’Adua, the first thing he did was to target Southern Banks and begin to weaken them one after the other under the guise of fighting corruption. At the same time he reopened the door for foreign as well as Islamic financial capital. He effectively conducted an economic jihad that halted the advance of the South and put the North back in a favorable strategic position.

Now 2023 is coming -
The North has realized one thing: NIGERIA IS RIPE FOR CHANGE!

The Northern strategists would prefer that the modernizing of Nigeria takes place under a Northerner than under a Southerner. So they have to present a viable Northern candidate for that. This is where Sanusi comes into the picture.

If you study Sanusi’s actions, you will see that he is deeply pro-North and anti-South in a very intelligent progressive way. Sanusi understands what it takes to make the North overtake and dominate the South IN EVERY WAY in a modern world.

But when you hear him talk you will think he is a detribalised pan-Nigerian government critic, which is why so many Southerners foolishly support him.

The North understand that Sanusi would be more valuable to them as the President of Nigeria than as the Emir of Kano. He would not only help the North to overtake the South systemically and on all possible levels. He would also modernize Nigeria, so that the credit for the modernization of Nigeria will go to a Northerner. The Northern future-planners would rather have Sanusi in a position to become the President of Nigeria.
-----------------
Exactly my own thinking. Any southerner that does not see this wicked Islamic jihadist being re-positioned is dreaming.

Sanusi destroyed southern banks, drove away their CEOs and jailed some. Erastus Akingbola built Intercontinental Bank from the scratch and Sanusi took it from him while he ran for his life.

Sanusi was a terror working with his people in the EFCC. The story had it that Saraki wanted Akingbola to buy Societe Generale Bank which he looted into coma and he refused. Saraki then approached Sanusi who was his classmate at Kings College, Lagos to use his position as The CBN Governor to destroy Intercontinental Bank and Akingbola. Sanusi then looked for a reason to do the job. That was how he came up with the hoax audit report which he used to destroy Southern banks. Those banks were not in distress at all.

Access Bank was dying under the management of Sanusi's friend. Intercontinental Bank was then handed over to him for survival. Access Bank used Intercontinental Bank money to buy Intercontinental.

Cecilia Ibru who built Oceanic Bank was dispossessed and jailed. Sanusi appointed his friends who ran down their banks to be the new managers of the Southern banks he claimed were distressed. Good logic does not permit handing over distressed banks to former bad managers if not for an agenda.

You may not have heard that Tony Elumelu refused to employ Sanusi at UBA before First Bank employed him. He rose in First Bank to MD because of the FGN's controlling share. From there he became the CBN Governor. He didn't forget or forgive Tony. That was why he came up with the 7yrs maximum term for Bank CEOs to get back at Tony. We have a wicked Islamic jihadist being let lose. Remember El Rufai saying that Fulanis neither forgive nor forget. Sanusi is a typical Fulani.

Sanusi introduced the law that Bank CEOs cannot stay beyond 7yrs. If they can't run their businesses for more than 7yrs, why are people like Dangote running theirs beyond 7yrs?

He destroyed Southern banks and introduced Islamic banking because Southern banks were strengthening southern Christian economy. Where in the world do you run a business without making profit or charging interest? Buhari is borrowing from the international finance community and will pay interest but will use Southern resources to run an interest free Islamic bank. The South must wake up before it's too late.

The North hates The South in every aspect and will do everything to pull them down, but Southern leaders are blind and not thinking.

The North is out to frustrate and slow down The South by all means. Sanusi is and intelligent man but an economic Boko Haram against The South.

The same way Buhari canceled the Lagos State metro line to slow down Southwest development was how Sanusi used his powers at The CBN to destroy Southern economy. He is still coming. Only splitting the country will save The South.

The North have been marketing Sanusi with his eloquent speeches but with a sinister agenda. Southerners seem to be carried away by his eloquent speeches but he is a very dangerous man. We warned Southerners against Buhari but they didn't listen. Another intelligent Buhari whom I will call Ahithophel is coming and they will still fall prey.

24hrs after his dramatic dethronement, El Rufai his fellow jihadist has offered him The VP of Kaduna State investment project.

Sanusi has not fallen, he is rising. The South are thoughtless in many ramifications. The same educated Islamic jihadist who beheaded Gideon Akaluka also beheaded the Southern economy when he had the opportunity. The North sees him as their hatchet man. They are coming.

What you wrote up there makes no sense at all. Fulanis migrate because they are nomads, they are cattle herder's and their original home is no longer appropriate for grazing cows. This is because the Sahara has been moving south since the last millennium, so naturally the Fulanis have been moving southwards following river courses. Obviously Fulanis realised they cannot be prosperous in their original home.

So if you say igbos were very prosperous in their homes, why the need to migrate all over Nigeria, and currently all over the world in droves? Prosperous people prosper in their homes. It's hard to find Japanese, Norwegians, Saudis migrating all over the world looking for prosperity. The few you find in the US and UK are usually there for educational purposes. Trump is even asking for immigrants from Norway instead of "shithole countries".

We are not comparing greatness of empires, what I am saying if the igbos had a great empire, how come history had no record of it. No records of its kings, it's cities, it's literature, it's architecture, it's military conquests, nothing.
We have had many great empires starting from sumeria, mesopotamia, Babylonia, Egypt, Persia, Greek, Roman, ottoman, British and lots of others.
There's no record showing you have sense. Should I now assume you don't have sense at all or blame you for not keeping the records?

Sometimes you guys make statements, thinking you're smart but only end up proving your shallowness. Your country nigeria that stopped the teaching of history in schools, which a lot of data is being lost with time, does it now mean one should conclude certain things never existed JUST BECAUSE the records are not kept.

Furthermore, migration is a natural phenomenon that happens for various reasons among different individuals. And unless you're typing from the comfort(?) of your home village, that makes you an hypocrite.
Politics / Re: Video Footage Showing Biafra In The Aftermath Of The War by Donelli: 6:45pm On Mar 01, 2020
Biafrarep:

Lol, the joke is on you!
Now, let's face facts. By the time the war started, the entire Nigerian airforce were maintained mostly by the Igbos, and by the time they returned to the East, there was a vacuum and that was what prompted Nigeria to rely on the Arab world (mainly Egypt and Syria) to fly its fighter jets. The few white men that joined Biafran airforce and helped us to convert passenger planes to fighter jets were largely volunteers who became frustrated at the way the Arab pilots were bombing civilian areas including hospitals, markets and schools as well as Uli Airstrip (Africa's busiest airport as at then!). Their efforts led to the destruction of Nigeria's planes in Enugu, P.H and Benin etc.

WikiLeaks have provided records of hitherto classified documents where the then British prime minister were supplying Nigeria vast shiploads of tanks, arms and armunition. His sentiment was that the more arms they supply to Nigeria, the faster they will be able to win Biafra. Britain also ensured that Biafra did not get international support with the argument that should they defeat Nigeria, it will lead to other separatists across Africa to take up arms which would destabilize the whole continent.

Yes, Biafra had some support from countries like Haiti, Tanzania, Ivory coast, Gabon and maybe a few others. France never supplied Biafra with arms, instead they sold some military hardware to Biafra unlike Britain that was sending vast shiploads to Nigeria.

Can you compare the largely moral support these countries gave to Biafra to the sort of support Nigeria got from Britain, Russia, Egypt, Syria, Cameroun, Niger, OAU etc?? These countries were supplying Nigeria with massive military hardware in agreement to be compensated when the war is over. Nigeria compensated Cameroun with Bakkasi peninsula, Britain with oil proceeds, Russia with Ajaokuta, The Egyptians and Syrian pilots were paid directly etc.

Talking about being on the Forbes list, are you kidding me?? For starters, the economy of the Igbos were totally wiped out when the war ended in 1970 and the Biafran pounds was made illegal. Igbos had to wait for Nigerian soldiers who were paid 19 pounds to spend money in the East for them to have money in circulation! Immediately after the war, a promulgation decree was cunningly made that privatized all multinational companies. In essence, the Igbos couldn't take part because they were broke!

As if these were not enough, the military regimes controlled by the north with support from the West, shared oil blocks among themselves. It was so bad that a 'runs girl' who was a hairdresser to the wife of a one time military ruler was dashed an oil block, and today you guys shamelessly celebrate her as the richest woman in Nigeria.

Despite all these state sponsored policies targeted against Igbos, we have first generation self made billionaires who rose from grass to grace, and their wealth can easily be traced, unlike you guys that insult our sensibility by telling us how a former taxi driver and a former hair dresser became billionaires, just because they were dashed some oil blocks!!

Deep down within you, you know that Igbos will always best you guys in anything that is done on merit. So stop celebrating nonsense quota system and corruption that have kept you all in this shameful state despite the resources at the disposal of the country.

There is no fallacy.

The problem with Nigeria, as I have said is that the leaders and the people think that we should share the money.

Under such a system, restructuring can degenerate into a big war for control of resources.

I am yet to see any Nigerian leader, past or present, actually develop a plan to get us off exporting raw materials and sharing the income into an economic plan nthat is based on industrial development. And i doubt restructuring would change old habits.
Those leaders already know nigeria is heading for the rocks, and they're packing as much as possible to sustain them during their upcoming exile. While selling a dummy that all will soon be well, and the ignorantly gullible are already neck deep in the con.

As for the rest of the masses, the mindset is to grab the little they can ,while they can.

With the current awareness, any discussion about restructure will not be casual, and will not be by shallow minded representatives.

However, it's already late for that. Outright disintegration is what is cooking.

As for those of you deriding igbos for asking for Biafra or a structured Nigeria I pity you . Nations don't survive on natural resources but on quality leadership who out of their knowledge develop thriving economy's based on knowledge, besides the Niger delta oil economy is in ìts last phase and will gradually become irrelevant like coal in years to come. As for the survival of the south East, they have the where withal and are arguably the largest middle class in Nigeria. they can even survive on diasporan tax alone , how much more when you add their industry. Politics / Re: Southeast Can't Survive Restructuring Plan... let us be sincere by Donelli: 1:46pm On Mar 01, 2020
Gnaeusmagnus:
Actually, no region can survive restructuring, except the South South, and even the South South itself would run into trobule in a few years.

In my opinion, what is driving the cry for restructuring is two ideas

1.The North (usually defined as the Hausas...even though at least 50% of the North isn't Hausa) is eating Southern money

2.Under regionalism, we lived much better.

First, regions were not better than what we have today. The fact is, most people in all the regions lived in rural areas. And the spending was disproprtionately on the small educated class with the idea that they would develop Nigeria....and since it is the educated class that writes the story...that's why you hear many of them chanting 'Things were better'. Things were not better....and infact things would get worse if we had kept the regions.

Second...agriculture in Nigeria is largely subsistence. If we restructure into regions, or break up, the amount we produce agriculture wise would be too low to support one state , talk-less of one region. In a country where less than 10% of the farmers are practicing large scale mechanzed farming....the money generated won't be enough to support everyone.

Third, the biggest business in Nigeria is importing stuff and reselling. Infact the reason why many Easterners want restructuring is because they think that the oil money will sustain their business. Well, while I don't oppose anyone agitating for his interest...the truth is that under such a system, we would run out of forex in months...and be forced to take loans to sustain ourselves (because oil is on a downward trend)

Fourth, anyone telling me that the regions are going to use their human resources to devlop is on a long thing. Nigerians like welfare...which is why the North does not want to be free of oil from the South...and why some Easterners want Biafra and restructuring...because they think alike. In Nigeria...we see raw materials as an unlimited source of income to be shared...and that in our mind constitutes development. That is not development...development is using your limited resources to be productive.

In my opinion, Nigerians should forget restructuring, and instead force themselves to become a nation where every state is producing stuff for the global market....industrialization. It is because the road to industrial development is long and hard, and Nigerians want ready made, that they are chanting restructuring. Meanwhile, North, and South are non-producing entities...

Until every state in Nigeria is a producer, not a parasite...then we can talk restructuring. Because if we restructure now...we would be fighting resource wars within 10 years. And you won't like it.

And no, I am not speaking for the North. As far as I am concerned, the North needs this message of mine the most. They need to invest in education and industrial development urgently..especially as Boko Haram has shown them how neglect of their youth has led to problems.

As for the South East....you guys cannot have Biafra without changing your economic structure. Like the North, you need to invest in industrial and educational development, and make industries the center of your economy. Otherwise, Biafra would be a broke nation taking loans like Nigeria...because the main business is importing and selling stuff...stressing the forex savings.

Same for the South West. You will suffer under restructuring too. If you don't reduce your oil dependency.
Every region can, and will do well (I don't like the word "survive" ) after restructure. This issue of whether or not to restructure is born out of mental laziness and fear of losing the easy meal. Yes, there will be stability crises but it will pass...at least I'm sure of the south.

There's a lot of fallacies in the rest of your comment, but that's you.

But you forefathers have been migrating to other regions to be prosperous, even before independence. If the south east was so prosperous, why we're many checking out?
Migration does not equate prosperity, else, the fulanis would have been the most prosperous. When you make such comments, one might think the "other regions" are flowing with milk and honey. If so, why are the locals not themselves wealthy? And why does the issue of Easterners dominating their hosts come up? Cos one can only dominate who s/he is greater than. How do you reconcile these two accusations in one breath
Maybe you can help me understand better.

So why did you guys never recorded a prosperous or strong kingdom like Songhai, Oyo or Benin kingdoms. Benin kingdom even incorporated some of your lands up to Onitsha.
Great kingdoms they were, truly. Yet it doesn't take away the fact that other unsung kingdoms, empires, kindreds, and what have you, also hold their own. It's just like saying, if the Songhai empire was so great, why wasn't it greater than the Roman empire. These are unnecessary comparisons.

I'm glad we can agree on some things. From your comments, I'll like you to shed more light on one or two points you raised. Let's take it step by step instead of a fruitless argument. I hope you will indulge me.

1. We talk about enabling environment [for ease of doing business...]. I am of the opinion that everyone has their own needs in terms of what they require in an enabling environment. So what do you think are the top 5 things that will make the most impact for an enabling environment?

2. How can one gauge the human development index of a people?

3. In terms of security, do you think the general situation in the East warrant the level of military presence witnessed in recent years, compared to shortage of military manpower in the war ravaged areas up north? And why.

4. "The region is not good in accomodating other regions and religions"..
Is this your personal experience, or just repeating unproven hearsay?

5. On the issue of migration and neglect, have you even been to the East in the last 5 years?

If this whole resources you blab about is the main requirement for a top grade nation, why is Nigeria in the latrines?

Better an enterprising man that can make the best of the little, than a committee of f00ls than has become a burden and an embarrassment to themselves and everyone else, in the midst of abundance.

Southeast have been champion the campaign for restructuring Nigeria to Regional system of government. But I keep asking myself if southeast would survive the regional system of government in this present generation.

Is this the best you could come up with
One logged in when one saw the title, expecting to see a reasonable opinion to engage. Alas, one is disappointed.

Two questions:
1. Why do you think we can't "survive" the regional system?
2. What are those parameters that determine who will/will not survive a regional system, then let's discuss why you think we don't have the capacity.

Meanwhile, one has noticed this tendency of some entities to make conjectures about the future of the Igbo race, basing solely on the 60's history, blindly or ignorantly assuming that nothing could have changed up till now.

It's just analogous to assuming that a son will be a drunk, JUST BECAUSE his father once was. That's rather absurd.

oh my goodness! Why is Biafra and Nnamdi kanu giving Yoruba Muslims sleepless night? Afonjas, Biafra is an ideology whose time has come. No force can stop it.
Then you should not mock that ideology. Your post does not portray that spirit of truth. Eziokwu bu ndu!

I say again, please, be guided.
