VEXT: Adamu Garba: There is practically no difference between Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho and Abubakar Shekau except that Shekau started much earlier than the rest.......
The level of hypocrisy here is fascinating!
Nnamdi Kanu ordered killings & destruction. But he is an agitator & should be left alone.
Sunday Igboho ordered killings & destruction. But he is a freedom fighter & should be celebrated.
Yet Fulani should be condemned as terrorist!

Education / Re: The Law Of Karma: Real Or Hoax? by Dong2: 1:24pm On Feb 28, 2021 |
philfearon:
Karma seems to be a sweet word, especially in the way the name was carved out. The syllables and vowels makes the word instantly terrifying or haunting, signifying the power the word can emit whenever in usage.
Karma means "action" or "deeds" in it's most simplest explanation. According to the principle of Karma, whatever you do will find a way of impacting your life in one or the other.
Although, Karma has gone mainstream, and is used to mostly refer to actions related to wrong or right, Karma actually doesn't reflect that in it's description and meaning. Most usage of Karma in modern day parlance often refer to it as some sort of universal force that pays you for doing bad or good. This has popularised the word even more, including generating other sweet words like "karmic debts".
But, is Karma real?
I'm sure there are thousands or millions of literary works on the subject. But, when we look at it very well, you realise that if Karma is explained only in the sense that it governs bad or good deeds, it will definitely fall short.
Cause and effect of actions is real. But, what is even more real is that the person you think will suffer huge repercussions for the alleged evil they did, may even live a more happy and fulfilled life. The funny thing is, that is the everyday life we are living in.
Look at Nigeria, bad leadership continues because it is being enabled in one way or the other by the led. The persons perpetuating the bad governance are still around, and probably even scheming as you read this.
Another person is not going to have a havoc-filled life just because they broke your heart for example. The person can break your heart and become a sweetheart to another person, wed and born beautiful children. You may even be constantly seeing their pictures in your Facebook feeds because you are probably mutual friends.
Things don't always go the way we want it. Well organized events rarely ever go as planned. Have you ever seen anything go exactly the way you planned or wrote it down word for word? It doesn't happen. A great footballer may go on to a pitch and have a bad day even after doing all the right training. A person may read very well and still forget everything they read in exam hall only to remember it after all.
If Karma worked the way it is imagined, the world would have been a better place. Unfortunately, Karma doesn't work in the manner you think it does. You cannot allow yourself fall into the karma trap, as it is going to mess with your mind.
A thief who suceeds in his first robbery starts to thinks he can steal and go away with it because they probably got away with it the first time. What the thief forgets to understand is that the same variables that enabled the first success may not be there the next time around.

Politics / Re: Of Northerners Stopping Food Supply To The South. by Dong2: 12:32pm On Feb 28, 2021 |
AAEEI: Copied from a friend's Facebook page.
Of northerners stopping food supply to the South.
There are videos of northerners blocking food trucks destined for the south. This is good for everyone, as much as it is bad for everyone.
The good aspect for the south is that necessity is the mother of invention.Faced with limited food options, Southerners will be propelled to start a more intensive agricultural production, including of meat and fish. I have in the past hammered on this topic here on FB and elsewhere. With science and technology you don't need millions of hectares to produce food. You need just the right knowledge and inputs for intensive production on the land that you have.
The good aspect for the north is that millions of Almajiris roaming northern streets and the good northerners in IDP camps who are victims of Boko Haram would now have enough food to eat.
The bad aspect for the South is that there will be short term gastronomic and culinary discomfort. You will have to cook and eat food without some items for a while.
The bad aspect for the north is that they produce to sell. If no buyer, then they are faced with even more crushing poverty (northern Nigeria is already the poorest place in the world. All thanks to the North, Nigeria surpassed India in the number of poor people per capita a few years ago). There is no agricultural subsidy in Nigeria. They may take the produce to neighboring countries, but they'll pay import duties to such countries, I suppose. Another big bad news for the north is that the two fertilizer plants in Nigeria are located in the south. Even the upcoming Dangote Fertilizer production plant is located in the south. Fertilizers are transported from the South to the North via trucks. Southerners can block trucks too. The North can't produce for commercial purposes without fertilizer. Period.
That being said, may we remind ourselves what food produce is coming to the South from the North. Tomato, onions, groundnut, pepper, beef, a specific goat breed, yam, cabbage and a couple others. Now, what among those produce above does a human need to survive? Perhaps only yam, because it is caloric. In reality, the major staples in the south are southern-produced produce, including cassava, plantain, corn, palm oil, reasonable quantities of yams, and different types of leafy vegetables.
Chicken farms are all over the country, producing meat and eggs. Rice farms are all over the country. The rest of chicken and rice consumed in Nigeria are imported via the southern and northern borders. Fish is mostly imported. Therefore, no region holds the monopoly of chicken, rice, and fish. Beans come mostly from Niger Republic (but I will concede beans to the north, since they can block the trucks bringing it in).
The rest produce coming from the North are things you can live without. You don't necessarily need pepper, tomato or onion in your food. Besides, you can use tin tomatoes..
This development provides the opportunity for a paradigm shift in how southern Nigerian youths view agriculture. No doubt, it is a drudgery-prone profession. But there are several components that are less stressful than hoping on a bus in Oshodi by 4 am to get to work in Lagos Island and making the stressful reverse trip in the evening. Yet, white collar pays peanut to graduates.
Small animal production is a good example of less stressful agriculture. Fish, snail, edible insects, rabbits, etc, are all agro businesses you can invest in, even without a degree in agriculture.
My cousin Ugbogu Ihechikara Chuks (https://www.facebook.com/ugbogu.chuks) is a fish farmer. He can train you (with a fee) on how to start your own cat fish farm. Those are his artisanal catfish ponds in the video. Good post |

*_Hijāb_* *Controversy* *In* *Ten* *Schools* *In* *Ilorin*
On the 19th February 2021, the Kwara State government ordered the closure of ten schools formerly owned by some Christian bodies. The schools were taken over by the government in 1974. The government, however, allowed them to continue to bear their Christian names, while the government has been responsible for the running cost and maintenance of the schools. The ten public schools were ordered closed by the government to prevent the breakdown of law and order following the refusal of the former owners of the schools to allow Muslim teachers and students of the schools use _hijāb_ within the premises of the schools.
It will be recalled that there had been _hijāb_ controversy in Kwara State since 2012, following the attempt of the former owners of the schools to have full control over the schools that had been taken over by the State government. They demanded that the schools should be returned to them. Consequently the government was sued by the Christian bodies at an Ilorin high court but the Kwara Muslim Community applied to be joined in the suit on behalf of the Muslim students who are not allowed to use _hijāb_ in the schools. The State government won the case on the 17th of May 2016. The judgment was appealed and the Christians lost again in September 2019. It is remarkable to note that the Appeal Court ruled that the appellants lacked the right to make Christianity the only standard in the schools. It also said that "the refusal of the schools to allow the use of _hijāb_ is discriminatory as it is a practice in tune with the Constitution. " The Court of Appeal judgment of September 2019 has not been challenged by the Christians at the Supreme Court. Consequently Muslim students and staff went to their schools with _hijāb_ but they were sent out by the schools' principals and the heads of the Christian bodies which owned the schools before they were taken over by the government in 1974.
One expects these Christian bodies who were dissatisfied with the judgement of the Court of Appeal to proceed to the Supreme Court. Instead they took law into their hands, which is a flagrant disobedience to the judgement of the Court of Appeal. The leaders of the Christian bodies and the principals of the schools should be tried for contempt of court.
Interestingly, Britain that brought Christianity into Nigeria has allowed wearing of the _hijāb_ in her schools since 1980s. The Nigerian Christian bodies want to be more Catholic than the Pope. Toby Howarth, the Bishop of Bradford, in the Diocese of Leeds, of the Church of England supports the wearing of the _hijāb_ by primary school girls. He says: "This is a matter of religious identity, not sexualization, and the British policy should be not to make a big deal of it, but simply say that you have to wear the right colour that goes with the school uniform" ( _The_ _Sunday_ _Times_ , 03 September 2017) A _Sunday_ _Times_ survey also reveals that thousands of state primary schools allow girls to wear the _hijāb_ as part of approved school uniform in UK. Incidentally the country has allowed a Muslim woman, in person of Raffia Arshad, who wears _hijāb_ to become a judge.
Ilorin is generally known as a Muslim town. It has been an Emirate since 1823. Muslims are officially in majority. Sharia Court system operates in Kwara State adjudicating over Muslim matters. No non - Muslim has been forced to appear in the court. Christians established schools to convert Muslim students to their religion. They deny Muslims the practice of Islam in an Islamic town with an Emir and great scholars of Islam. The government in its wisdom took over the schools to protect the interest of all, while it has been financing the running of the schools with taxpayers' money, majority of who are Muslims, and yet the Christians continue to oppress the Muslims by not allowing the Muslims to practise their religion. Do the Christians expect the Muslims to fold their hands and watch their children converted to Christianity before their eyes? That is not possible. Christians attend Muslim schools in the state. They are not forced to wear _hijāb_ in the Muslim schools.
Ironically the Bible enjoins Christian females to cover their head (1 Timothy 2:9-10 & 1 Corinthians 11: 4-7). Catholic Rev. Sisters and Mothers obey the biblical injunction. Mary, the mother of Jesus wore _hijāb_ . The artistic impression of Mary as displayed by Christians confirms that. If some Christians now jettison biblical teaching and celebrate nudity, immorality, indecent mode of dressing, Muslims will never do that. They obey the . teachings of the Qur'an on the female mode of dressing (Q33:59 & 24:31). Muslims must note that the Christians want to make Muslims emulate their disobedience to God. Muslims have been warned by Allah against the antics of the Christians (Q2:120). Let's be on our guard and stand firmly by the ethos of Islamic mode of dressing.
Kwara State government should solve this lingering problem once and for all. The government should exercise full control over all the schools that it has taken over. They are public schools. They should be seen as such. No religious body should have any control over the schools. The schools should cease to bear the names that reflect any religious body. They no longer belong to any religious body. That was done in other northern states in 1974.
Principals and Vice Principals should no longer be appointed by the former owners of the schools. Loyalty and allegiance of the Principals and the Vice Principals will always belong to whoever appoints them because whoever pays the piper dictates the tune. The government should appoint them as they appoint other teachers to demonstrate that it is the owner of the schools, and that the schools are not jointly owned by the government and anyone, or partially owned with anyone else.
Every Nigerian has been guaranteed religious freedom by Section 38(1) of the Constitution. Everyone must therefore be allowed to enjoy that freedom wherever he or she may be in Nigeria.

I see no reason why Muslim students should be denied their constitutional rights.
All Muslim students, in particular, female students should be allowed to dress in Hijab since these schools are for the public.
“Are the schools not grant-aided? So you want to use public money to persecute Muslim children until they submit to forceful conversion? Even if they are missionary schools, must they force female Muslim students to strip? We are not surprised because it is part of their old way of forceful conversion. Gjrich: Alhaji Sadiq Ibrahim Ahmed, the Bauchi State chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) on Saturday, February 20 pledged that the association would resist any attempt by Southern governors to evict herdsmen.
The MACBAN chairman said it would be tit for tat by the north should the herders be evicted from the south. Accrording to Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed, everyone has the right to live anywhere he or she wants.
He said; “In fact, herdsmen, based on their activity of pastoralism, own every part of Nigeria. So why should anyone go against the constitution?
‘’If the southern governors insist on sending our people away, we will have no option than to send their people packing too.
“We are no fools. We are only studying the situation. We are all human beings.
“If the leaders want to cause problems, they should not forget about the ordinary citizens.
“For now, we will remain loyal and we will also educate our people on the need for peaceful cohabitation. We won’t act like the foolish governors.
“If the custodians of law say there is no law, then are we the ones to uphold the law? We are only trying to protect our integrity for now.
“Besides, we can survive on our own because we produce our own food. Aside former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the Southwest, who else can feed up to 100 people?”
Sadiq, who added that any killer herdsman arrested should be severely dealt with, said the association will never encourage any criminality by herdsmen in the South
