Programming / Re: Share Your Remote Job Experience As A Developer by dongodav: 7:12pm On Jul 06, 2020
Give me the company. I can work throughout the night cos I need the job. I am a full-stack developer.

thenaijacoder:
There is more to remote jobs than you think. Here is my personal experience.

Recently, i received a mail from a remote american tech company that i applied for. I was informed, that an interview will take placed few days, i prepared for the interview and the day came , lot of questions were asked that questioned my experience in web development. Finally the interview was over, but still i felt that i really embarrassed myself and messed up but i kept my fate.

Two days later, i received a mail from the same company where all the company guidelines, workflows and other necessary information i needed to get started were contained.

I resumed work a week after, soon i decided to set up my work environment just for me to realize i will be working actively at midnight from 11:30 - 6:30 due to time zones difference.

So basically, my life was staying on the PC every night and i adapted to it to the extent that i might not use my PC yet i can't sleep at night.

Soon after, i felt ill for 3 days after 4 weeks of sleepless nights and i was advised to reduce my working time and sleep often.

Knowing it was dangerous for my health, i cut my working time to 4AM and i will be off to bed. This step almost cost me my job because i published a new feature to the company product but i didn't include proper documentation of what the feature does and the developers and the members were annoyed with me to that.

Since it was a remote company though they have an office at California, most of their members work remotely, the company meetings are always held on Thursday via Google Meet and i have been marked absent for 3 times in a row which is really bad for my report. I was warned if i miss the next meeting, there is a possibility that i might be on probation or worst relieved of my role.

NB: I work as a frontend developer using Vuejs as my core language.

He once defrauded me also pretending to help me with house rent when he said his DM was opened for assistance and he disguised under the pretence to reactivate his Naira Account but i just decided to send 1k to him cos that amount is not too big to loose. May he never survive the calamities.

To give birth in Ondo State na wahala, cos to afford the payment, and during Mimiko it was free and you will also be given a mobile phone with sim card called Phone Abiye. But Akeredolu came into power and scattered the state. He lacked administration because it is that Edo woman that is ruling Ondo State. Go to Alagbaka, the official language there is Igbo/Edo and you are paid here ranting.

Guy, I fear you o! Do you think you are the only Ondo State indigine in this NL. What has Akeredolu done? Who he epp? Akeredolu caused crisis in Adekunle Ajasin University by increasing the school fee from 32,000 to 150K, saying the tuition fee can't buy a shoe. You came here and murmuring saying 50 achievements, 50 achievements ko, 50 failures ni. Ondo State made the mistake voting for that static governor, I voted for him when he first contested, but I did not voted for him in that 2nd term. In a nutshell, Akeredolu will go back to his Ibadan home town by God's grace. He is not competent, no employment nor empowerment and hiking school with no provision for the masses.

He turned AAUA to advanced primary school.

OndoFirstBorn:
1. For any serious government who is interested in the general well being of its citizenry, the first and primary area of concern is how to ensure prudency, accountability, transparency and block leakages as such will enhance good governance. Little wonder the Akeredolu-led administration upon assumption of office put in place appropriate legislative frameworks for Public Finance Management system even when the laws had remained outstanding for so long as previous administrations never found it expedient or important. Four key legislations were enacted and signed by the Governor. These are (i) Ondo State Public Finance Management Law, (ii) Ondo State Fiscal Responsibility Law, (iii) Ondo State Public Procurement Law, and (iv) Ondo State Public Audit Law. The efforts of the Governor must have accounted for the inclusion of Ondo State as one of the beneficiaries of the performance –based grant component of the World Bank-assisted States Fiscal Transparency and Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) programme recently.

2. Within 3 years, Governor Akeredolu has done what many thought was practically impossible.Unprecedented massive infrastructural developments in Ondo State .

3. About 239 kilometres of road have been constructed and rehabilitated.

4. Construction of Iwalewa Road, Akure.

5. Construction of Oba Osupa/NEPA roundabout/Olukayode/Hospital/Alafiatayo as dual carriage way, Akure.

6. Construction of Oshinle/Abusoro/ Gaga Community/Oke Ogba community roads, Akure.

7. Construction of road linking Idanre town to Akure via Ijoka.

8. Construction of Court of Appeal/SUBEB/ CBN /Bishop’s court dual carriage way.

9. Construction of SIB/Eyitayo Jegede/ Alagbaka roads, Akure.

10. Construction of Sabomi Road, Ese Odo.

11. Construction of Abusoro, Ijoka Road, Akure.

12. Construction of Opasorun road, Bajare/Okemayo

13. Construction of St. Joseph Road in Idanre.

14. Construction of Jubilee - Ugbe Road, Ikare.

15. Construction of Ifon Township/Molege –Ute/Ipele-Iyere roads

16. Construction of Oke Alafia Road, Supare.

17. Construction of Ogbomo Ifedara, Ajegunle Streets and Howlet Road, Ifon.

18. Construction of Ilara Mokin /Ikota, otherwise known as Gulf C road, Ilara.

19. Construction of Ibuji/Isarun township roads in Ifedore Local Government.

20. Construction of Virgin road network within GRA to Prison, Owo.

21. Construction of internal and access roads within the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa.

22. Construction of the notorious Oke Alabujoto in Ikare Akoko.

23. Rehabilitation of the deadly Iwaro Oka hill.

24. Construction of Police road, Ore and Ore Interchange flyover on the Shagamu-Benin Expressway to ease traffic for those traveling from the South-West to the South-East and Abuja.

25. Rehabilitation of Sabo Road, Akure.

26. Construction of a new office complex for Ondo State Internal Revenue Service.

27. Construction and flattening of the dreaded Oke-Alabojuto hill and rehabilitation of Ikare township roads.

28. Work is also ongoing on the construction of 50km road linking Araromi seaside, Ondo state to Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State.

29. Signed into law, a contributory health insurance scheme which enable all classes of people in the state access to affordable health care services.

30. Governor Akeredolu also facilitated the presentation of 40 imaging medical items to the state medical village by the People's Republic Of China.

31. Distribution of medical equipment and consumables worth Six Million Dollars ($6M) among all the hospitals in Ondo State. This was achieved by the administration’s ingenuity leading to partnership with Medshare International.

32. Massive Renovation of the various Primary Health Care centres in all the Wards of Ondo State.

33. Recruitment of over 500 health personnel including 200 medical doctors

34. On Agriculture, the government reactivated the afforestation projects in Ondo State. 10,000 Hectares of the state afforestation projects sited at Omotoso in Okitipupa local government. The projects is worth N20billion and it has employed over 1,000 youths of Ondo state. This is a Public Private Partnership with Weewood, a Chinese company.

35. Under Akeredolu, Over N210, 000, 000 have been disbursed to farmers co-operative societies in the state, under the FADAMA Scheme.

36. Over 1,000 metrics ton of fertilizers have been distributed to farmers in Ondo state for enhanced farming.

37. The Akeredolu's administration has also mobilized 35,000 farmers for the Anchor Borrowers Scheme.
38. Procurement of top quality tractors to aid farmers’ productivity.

39. Establishment of Igba Otun broiler Scheme where farmers were given 2,000 day-0ld chicks with feed, drug and vaccines.

40. Empowerment and training of 0ver 1000 bee-keepers.

41. Distribution of of over 100,000 brazilian cashew seedlings and top quality oil palm seedlings to farmers across the state.

42. Empowerment and training of about 6,000 youths to become Agripreneurs.

43. Huge amount of money given out as soft loans to women, youths and the vulnerable through the State Micro-Credit Agency.

44. Digging and resuscitation of over 2,700 boreholes in our rural and urban areas through the “Kamomi Aketi Water Scheme”.

45. Construction of over 700 blocks of classroom through SUBEB in the 18 LGAs of Ondo State.

46. Today, from a horrible inherited less than N800 million monthly chart, Ondo State has recorded sustained growth in its IGR since 2017. As of January 2020, the total IGR of the state was not less than N2 billion.

47. Recruitment of over 500 graduates into the State Internal Revenue Service.

48. Even though Akeredolu never considered prompt payment of workers’ salaries as any achievement, the current economic downturn across Nigeria and the globe at large has made it imperative to consider it a huge success. He is simply a better manager of resources.

49. Unlike the usual practice and strategy of “winner takes it” which had characterized our political sphere, worthy of note is that all the political appointments made by Akeredolu for the past 3years are such that cut across ethnic, religious, social and political divides. This is an uncommon feat in the history of the state. Interestingly, the Governor still extends his right hand of fellowship to his haters who are naturally jealous of his accomplishments.

50. Since the truncated administration of the late Chief Adekunle Ajasin in 1983, Ondo State under the leadership of Akeredolu again retraced her steps towards industrialization with the establishment of Ondo/Linyi Industrial Hub in Ore. The hub has the following industries with close to 2000 workers:

*Cassava to ethanol factory which produces 300 metric tonnes of ethanol per day;
*The Medium density fibre (MDF) plywood factory;
*The High density fibre board plywood factory;
*Paper production factory
*Win-win Textile Industry
*Dongfeng Trucks Assembly plant
These factories are not only important to the economic drive of Ondo State but Nigeria as a viable investment destination under the Buhari/APC led Federal Government. The Governor is in no doubt an asset to the All Progressive Congress big family and the people of Ondo State. So far, Akeredolu holds all the aces!

kalan:
1. Eligibility for Your Proposed Course of Study

Before you sign up for a course, check to see if you are eligible.
This is so so important. There are many courses more than 130 for postgraduate programs but find out if youre eligible for the one you chose.

How?

Go to Unilag pg website or ask around in this place and i will give you the answer you need.
Dont take anything for granted.

For example.

If you have an HND, you are limited to just 3 courses:

1. MBA

2. Project Management

3. Biomedical Engineering

And not many people would want to read these courses.

so what do you do?

HND is mostly a no-no.

But all BSC are welcomed, even if you got your BSC from a state school or private University.

Also graduates from NOUN can also apply to Unilag Pg programme

Disqualification:

I know a lot of people who scored above the cut-off point in various exams conducted in the last 7 years and were disqualified- just because they didnt meet the school requirement.

E.g Bsc Engineering cannot apply for Msc Computer Science directly, you should first apply via pgd else you will be denied.

Likewise, so many restrictions. You need to know and be informed adequately so you dont make a mistake.

A lady called me last year and asked if she could apply for MSC in Engineering with her PGD certificate from another school?

I told her Unilag frowns at PGD from other schools. She was shocked.

She then said, ok let her use her HND cert.

I told her no way. she later said but UI allows such.

I told her I know, but that is Unilag for you.

So its better you know your eligibility status.

I've a current case of one of my students who just checked his result and he scored 70+ but will be denied admission because he was not qualified with his BSC course - the guy is almost weeping!

The solution I propose is to find the courses out there you can do with your Bsc degree.

and i will tell you for free, there are so many courses that each degree has access to, dont be tied to one.

These are powerful combos you could do if only you have the right info, and i will be sharing some of them with you on this thread.

Take Bsc Economics For example

BSc Economics graduates has loads of courses they can combined with their Bsc and make a hot selling combo out of it.

Before you chose a course, look at the job market, and the trends, dont stick to your old ways or what Jamb forced you to read.

Go for your passion and your purpose.

Do what you love.

With the right counsel you can make good judgement.
Having said that seek proper info from mentors, its the easiest path to glory....

enjoy!

Bsc Economics hot combo

plus MBA
plus IRPM
pgd finance
plus Dev Finance
plus Risk Mgt
plus MPIA
plus MILR
plus Accounting
plus MDSS
plus Pgd Computer Science
plus Msc Economics
plus Insurance
plus Actuarial Science
plus Operations Research
plus Operations and Production Mgt
plus Organizational Behavior
plus Management
plus MMP
plus Sociology
plus PGDE
plus Marketing
plus MILD
plus MELS

Let me know if you have any problem in choosing a course or combining your course with your experience.
Would gladly help out.

He paid part and it is 10years now. The office is not functioning again and point of contacts.

Iamundisputed:
My advice to you is to stop spending your hard earned money in the pretext that you're seeking justice cos most of these SARS guys will just collect your money.

It's better you carry out your own personal investigation based on the little information you have. Also, you mentioned that he paid part of the money, obviously, he should be willing to complete it. Maybe the company is bankrupt. Sometimes visa issues are not from the travel agent cos they can't determine every outcome, especially at the embassy. It happens a lot and that's when it seems like agents are liars and everyone starts saying they're scammers.

Try to obtain his personal details through his company name and let's see how it goes. Focus on recovering your money... It may not be what you think.

Hi all the moguls,

Please there is this company in Akure that scammed me some years ago under the pretence of helping me secure admission abroad. I paid a total of 1.something million naira and he is still owing me 788K. Ever since then, the company has not been opening and they have vacated the office.

I even visited SARS in Akure, they said I have to write a petition through a lawyer and I paid the lawyer 10K write petition which he handed over the letter to me without knowing i will still pay SARS again before the job commenced.

When I got to SARS station, they said I should pay so that they can take the letter to the CP for approval but I don't have any dime on me again. And since the company is no more existing, I thought it might also be another loss.
Please I have his phone number but it is not reachable when I try it and I don't think it is attached to his BVN because it is quite long and I know his fullname but I don't know his home town. His office was located in Akure then and I know his Company name.

He did processed admission to few schools in Russia, Ukraine and Poland.

Those documents are in Akure and am currently in Katsina. I paid the money in cash at their office in Akure with the intention to processed my admission to one university in Poland where I will learned Polish for one year known as preparatory class. Attached is his name and the managers name cos the man claimed then it was his workers that scammed him. I paid the money around 2009 but I will upload those documents as soon as my brother snapped them to me and I have also tweet Efcc, segalink and ncc on Twitter.

Oh! That is nice. Where in Katsina? I am also serving and currently in katsina, Daura zone. My PPA is one Arabic school, girls only. My student do demand for my phone by saying, uncle wire, call me my mother

Reminaija:
https://ennywealth.com/my-nysc-experience/

NYSC without stories to tell…is that one NYSC? Lol.

Different meanings have been attached to service year (NYSC) in Nigeria by the youths. Many see it as a time of freedom. A time to step into the world and have fun. A time to be free from being monitored or watched. That phase of our lives when there’s full liberty to do anything, and I mean anything at all. A time to go wild, lol. You all get what I mean by that, right?

Only a few see it as a time of self-test; to know how independent one can be — being mobilized to a no man’s land and yet, staying disciplined.

Some also see it as: A time to save. A time to learn from different cultures. A time to explore wisely. A time to reflect and make better plans.

As for me, my service year in contrast to what many people may think (especially because I was posted to the north), was by far, the best year of my life (and it still is).
But mehn, I have got to be honest, North is an entirely different world. I had heard numerous things about it, but I must confess that seeing indeed, is believing. I have seen, and now I believeHence, I must share with you!

Before I proceed however, I would like to point out that this post is not meant to attack any tribe or culture in anyway Just sharing my experience as a corps member

Here goes

I remember my first day at my PPA (place of primary assignment), I said to myself… “Will I be able to stay here for one whole year? “ But anyway, no corps members posted to my PPA wouldn’t say this at first glance, even if it’s subconsciously.

Ehm, my people, in whatever circumstances we may find ourselves, there will always be the good part, and there will be the bad. Focusing on the good however, will do us more good than harm.

North, unlike what many people may think, actually has some benefits (the part I served anyway), and I can confidently say that it is a good place to serve as a corps member.

Here below, are some of my experiences while serving in Katsina.

Let me start with the foodstuffs– Oh boy, never have I seen or bought foodstuffs at such cheaper prices before. I wouldn’t forget the look on my face the first day I bought a whole watermelon for just #100 Like seriously! And I mean a complete watermelon. It was just too good to be true. Not only that, there were days I got pepper, tomatoes, and onions for #100 only, and made stew for a week. Believe me, I thought I was in another part of the country.
Plus, you can get okra or Efo for as low as #20 here. That’s not all oh, I take bike for as low as #20 as well. Where does that happen! Apparently in the North.
No wonder I never even pack my bag, and it’s only a few days to my POP (Passing Out Parade), lol.

I cannot forget the cold though The almost unbearable harmattan lasted for months. I nearly froze oh. During this period, you couldn’t care less about your dressing combination as long as it brought you warmth.

In addition, bathing became a daily self-struggle and battle. Only the fittest could endure and survive the morning shower. I heard some people even had to make bathing timetable It was that serious. Palm oil is frozen, groundnut oil is frozen, human beings seff are Frozen! At a point, I’d pretend I was in Canada when I noticed smoke coming out of my mouth, oh my oh my
Another aspect of the north I wouldn’t forget are my students. Oh, I must mention them. They’re hilarious in every way. Their number one interest in every discussion or topic treated is in, “marriage.” I would not forget the kind of questions they bombarded me with the very week we treated Reproduction, chai, I had to round it up sharp sharp oh.

Only in the North, you’d hear your students greet you from afar shouting, “Aunty, how far?.” I mean really? How far to your teacher?? I couldn’t be upset though, ’cause there’d be no point. I knew they didn,’t know any better. They even thought they were being polite .

You’d hear your students “scold ” you for not coming to school on Thursday (our CDS was on Thursdays, so, we didn’t always go to school, but not all of them understood that), and would also threaten you not to miss coming on Friday. That’s just their own way of saying they missed you on that day in school. Such ignorance is kinda funny though, and cute
Baba God con bless me with amazing people that I wouldn’t trade for anything. My besties among them were Solomon and Caleb, aka Uncle JERRY AND CALEBRAIN… My NYSC story would never be complete without these awesome people. They taught me a lot about life- acceptance, good-will, and sacrifices. It was such a blessing meeting them both. Calebrain taught me how to make manual toast bread with egg, Jerry taught me how to drink Fura, among other things… No wonder the first few days they both left, after their POP around March, were kinda empty for me. Well, life must go on. Nevertheless, l truly miss them both.
And of course, how could I forget the Alhajis there… Chai, those people can disturb female corpers for Africa (but I guess this applies everywhere, not only in the north). Especially when they have small change and cars, they can entice corpers with money and material things wella. And their own love na by fire by force oh. One incident happened when my jolly friends were still around, I went to the fueling station (very close to the corpers’ lodge) to fetch water, and this Alhaji (the manager) asked for my phone number. I did not give, na so he lock tap and refuse to let me fetch water, not just that day but all through. In fact, the penalty extended to Jerry and Calebrain seff … I never see that kind of love before, do or suffer kind of love.

E get one that was literally flashing #1000 notes before my eyes few weeks ago. It was demeaning, but very hilarious at the same time.

It took me a while to get accustomed to the fact that everywhere is for peeing here. Once you feel like it, just go ahead and do it right away, regardless of where you may be. Both grown-ups and young ones. There is this one memory I am yet to get rid of from my head. I witnessed it on a particular evening, two grown men stooping side by side, gisting and laughing. On moving closer, I was perplexed when I realized they were both actually peeing… Like for real!

There’s also the part where a guy and a lady cannot stand alone and talk, they will conclude sharpaly that you’re doing ‘love.’ In fact, one of the male corpers informed us in the lodge that the northerners were hailing him (as well as the other male corpers), telling them that they were really enjoying the female corpers in the lodge … They even went as far as giving the male corpers a name, ‘Mai gida‘, meaning the head of the family or owner of the house, as in, husbands Just because we all live together oh.

And hey, did anyone know every car/bus has a parlour? Well, neither did I, until I came to Katsina. Thanks to my service year in the North, they showed me that nothing is a waste, you must learn how to judiciously utilize every resources In case you are lost and wondering what I’m talking about, the boot of every cab is the parlour here. They call it Parlour Hajia. After filling the inside of the car with passengers, a mat is meticulously spread in the boot, and passengers are allowed to enter there. And no, it’s not for free, those parlour passengers pay too. And incase you are also wondering how or if they will close the boot, they have a way of doing that, if you want to know come to the North, lol.

Also, the way they adore Corpers here in the North ehn, it feels so good. If any day you want to feel yourself small, just wear your seven over seven and walk around. Within few seconds, you will start hearing from every angle, “Corfer, corfer (corper, corper), how far, where I dey go?” You’d also hear, “Good morning; Good apter noon“, even if it’s in the evening, lol.

Oh yes, NCCF was a huge part of my service year. NCCF stands for NIGERIA CHRISTIAN CORPERS FELLOWSHIP. I strongly believe that God used NCCF to use me to do His will here (as He has done to many other corpers as well, and still doing). If you are an aspiring corps member or Batch A, I’d urge you to get acquainted with NCCF. NCCF is one of the most selfless organizations I have ever come across. They will do nothing but make you a better version of what you are. You wouldn’t meet a more or better organization that would bring out the best in you as a Corper, aside from NCCF.
To crown it all, my heavenly Daddy was there for His daughter all through. He made the one-year journey worthwhile -He stood by me.

Despite the harsh weather, harmattan, the sun, and trust me, the sun here is a totally different kind. It scorches the hell out of anything. I’d spread onions in the sun, and the onions would melt to the point of bringing out moisture. The first day it happened, I was shocked. Yet, in spite of all these, not for one day did I buy malaria drug. The one Madre even gave me before going to camp, I gave it to someone else. It could only be baba God
Some of my people at home in the south are suspecting whether or not I don settle with one Alhaji for North, ’cause of the way I’m just so relaxed and balanced, very funny though. They don’t understand that na Baba God dash me peace of mind. Only God could have made my stay in such a place fun, fulfilling, and full of wonderful and beautiful experiences.

My advice to all upcoming corps members is that; it’s alright to envisage being posted to a nice place, especially towns and cities, where you can have a social life, and lots of fun. But things do not always turn out the way we expect them to. So, in case you find yourself in a place that you don’t like, and you try all your possible best to redeploy and it doesn’t work, leave it to God.
And instead of being sad about it, decide to enjoy and make the best of your time where ever you may be posted. It can’t be 100 percent bad. Don’t allow that single reason to spoil the rest of your year, you only get to serve once. Think away from that social life you so much wanted, it may not give you a better life anyway. Your service year is what you make of it.

Decide to obtain from it instead of being bitter about it for the rest of the year. It works like magic, your mind will adjust and adapt to the environment. And you will enjoy every bit of it
Hope this post brought a smile to your face Kindly like and share with a friend. Feel free to also drop your comments. If you are a corps member or an ex corps member, tell us a few about your experience also. We can’t wait to hear from you ❤️
