And for the purpose of clearing this misconception, I will reiterate this.
This "Lagos is a no man's land" which has been thoroughly weaponised by the APC as a tool in order to divide and rule and maintain their stranglehold on leadership of their cash cow is something I expect enlightened minds to see through.
"Lagos is a no man's land" is not a statement that tries to allude that Lagos has no indigenous inhabitants or that tries to gloss over lagos' history. NO!! It is a statement that tries to highlight the CURRENT diverse makeup of the state and the advocacy for equitable leadership representation.
I think it is disgusting hypocrisy that dayo would post here that he is engaged in local politics in Texas, meaning he has sights on some kind of leadership posts in the foreign land he is in, but then rails against a naturalized born in Lagos citizen but of another tribe, holding any elected governance position in a city like Lagos.
You don't even need to look further at the states of Lagos past governors to see the diverse nature of the city\state. Tinubu, sanwoolu, fashola are not indigenous lagosians but they've all been stewards of the state.
For contrast, show me where an ekiti man has ruled over Ondo state, or an osun man has ruled over Oyo state, or vice versa. That's because Ibadan, ekiti, abia, Anambra are just not Lagos. They don't have that kind of rich tapestry, history and diversity of the city\state. They haven't evolved to that level of diversity. I really wish people here understand the context of that statement, it does not mirror any "takeover" of the state by any particular tribe. It just shouldn't be huge news that someone of different ethnicity handles an elected position in the state, from either governor down to councilor. |

Amoto94: Don J set the precedence on this thread by being aggressive on those who chose to support other candidates then other Obidients egged him on by saying you can't be normal by supporting APC thus setting the stage for attacks and counterattacks. Now, people are trying to douse the tension something that should have been prevented long time ago How does being "aggressive" to APC supporters translate to the disgusting tribalism we're seeing from many people here right now? And yes, I still maintain my stance that one can't be normal and support this APC, if the events of the last 3 weeks hasn't justified my position, I don't know what will!! |

Facts only! Lord knows I truly truly truly! hate when you and nihilist do this. Cut and join to create a narrative. See how you cut an entire long post detailing my points to just 2 sentences. All for agenda. donjazet: There is no one more foolish than a tribalist. No difference between them and racists, let me remind all of you here that someone reputable here said and I quote, "remove anyone with IGBO BLOOD from yoruba land".
The stupidity of that statement is mind boggling. When you look indepth at that statement, you see the depth of hate it comes from and this person still roams freely about in another person's land. The irony.
I could swear I have relatives who are more of lagosians than some of these Yoruba speaking folks from far away Ilorin or ekiti. I have Igbo relatives who were born in Lagos 30 years ago, have lived all their lives in Lagos, haven't even stepped foot anywhere else but of course have what the fool terms "IGBO BLOOD". Now a nonentity from ijebu ode moves into Lagos and start shouting that people with " Igbo blood "should leave Yoruba land.
Such inane stupidity!!! The fact that rational and supposed educated human beings would still be reasoning like these shows how backwards we are as a society.
And yes, Lagos is a NO MANS LAND. it is a cosmopolitan melting pot. It was not built up by any single tribe but by virtue of being the administrative, economic, entertainment and cultural headquarters of the biggest country in Africa. It's shape and form is made up of soo many diverse ethnic groups. You go to California, you see china town, indian village, latin American strongholds, black suburbs,. Same with newyork that has Irish strongholds, Italian strongholds, Chinatown, Russian suburbs and the likes. A true melting pot.
So please stop being stupid. When you enter Lagos, places like ojo local government and alimosho have been entirely dominated by igbos that you will think you've stepped into Anambra state. You also have alausa dominated by northerners and then other parts. That is what it means to be a megalopolis, So cry me a river. Lagos is indeed no man's land. A naturalized lagosian has more rights than an immigrant from ekiti or Oyo. He was born there, he belongs there. |

Guy you sef check this thing out nau. You think these reactions by people that have joined you in calling out Donjazet is because of the posts of the same Donjazet?
You think he painted raumdeuter as evil or you don't think people have eyes in knowing who he is or his political stance from time immemorial.
Make we fear God abeg His response sef is stupid in and of itself.. Dayo was positioning to start selling the tinubu candidacy here using his normal amalanomics. raumdeuter: So push for that now, you dont need to worry about 95% or 5%. The Obama example you give well Its not like America waited for Kenyans to be 95% of the US population
Start in Aba, there is a Malam somewhere, Okay lets even use Kwankwanso or El Rufais son as a test for Abia governorship so that Lagos and other places can learn from merit based leadership in Abia Well, a certain abiola was just elected a rep in abia, so I think that we're gradually getting there. I'm sure yorubas are very few in abia state but they now have a representative in abia state. Things you love to see. |

You an apostle of merit should encourage that. Get a merit based system where Malam Abubakar from Katsina is the governor of Abia Rivers state also has this rich diversity, Anambra has this rich diversity start the meritocracy from there abi Merit no sweet you? Again, yes I agree with this statement. I wish to see a day where the state of origin of a candidate does not matter, but his competence and qualities. That is the ideal situation. But of course, this is almost impossible in places where 95% of the inhabitants (people PRESENTLY living there) are all from one tribe or group. what I'm saying is that leadership should mirror the inhabitants. |

Is there equal representation of other nationalities in the USA? Maybe the word "equal" is contentious. What I mean is that everyone deserves representation, don't you think?? Tribalism and racism are just birds of same feather. You have millions of igbos in Lagos, just like millions of edos and hausas. If an igbo man, or an Edo man or hausa man emerges as the representatives of those regions respectively or one of them emerges the governor of the state, is it really bad?? Is that not what we see in other healthy democracies?? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Donjazet2: 3:43pm On Mar 20, 2023 |
raumdeuter: Start the meritocracy from Umuahia abi you no like merit and Integrated menene for ya side? Well I hope for that but the fact is that abia has a 90-95% igbo population just like ekiti and Ondo for yorubas. However lagos has such a rich diversity that I doubt that any group has a 51% majority. Or being generous 60% majority. Lagos is home to the most number of nigerian immigrants, that's those coming in from other countries into Nigeria. Be it Lebanese, Ghanians, indians, South Africans, foreign expatriates and diplomats before we start talking of inter state migration. People from Edo, benue, Kano, akwaibom and Anambra that emigrate to Lagos. Again, Lagos is the biggest city in Africa! Lagos' diversity mirrors the diversity of the biggest cities in the world, newyork, London, California and the rest who all have people of different origins ruling them as we speak. Children of immigrants governing them, why dont we do the same in our home country? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Donjazet2: 3:35pm On Mar 20, 2023 |
izzou: Equal representation where? For leadership na! You can't be comparing Lagos with any other state in Nigeria. Not even other nigerian cities like Kano and portharcourt. It is just too diverse. It would surprise you to know that there is even a small town that is predominantly made up of Ghanians in Lagos around badagry or so. My point is Lagos is the first port of call for any immigrant into Nigeria. Every other megalopolis that mirrors the diverse makeup of Lagos usually has people of various different origins leading it. So far as it's a democracy. How can abroadians be celebrating the rise of Nigerians into high positions abroad but then frown at it happening right here in their own country within their own compatriots? |

Dayo, is it a crime if someone born in Lagos, lived all his life in Lagos but his parents are from another state emerges as a governor and is undoubtedly qualified for the position?? Lagos is the London of Africa! Lagos is the newyork of Africa. Lagos is the largest cosmopolitan city in Africa, why do you think someone of another state can't be the governor?? This is disappointing coming from someone who is now outside this country. By now you should have grown beyond looking at politics through a tribal lens. Honest question, if you give birth in America, wouldn't you dream of your child becoming the leader of his country? Becoming the Obama of his time? A son of an immigrant from far away becoming the number one man. Did Obama's presidency represent a Kenyan take over if America Come on airmark, let's evolve beyond tribalism. Please. airmark: Politics is a dirty game and I am surprised you live in Nigeria and feigning ignorance as to what politicians do to win election. Tell me your state of origin or residence, and I will tell you how your past governors won elections and would check if you came in Nairaland to condemn him. Hypocrisy.
Back to Lagos, GRV made some tribal remarks against Yoruba, which he never denied.
He publicly showed support for IPOB, who never hid their hatred for the Yorubas.
LP showed most efforts in winning Lagos, plus many receipts behind those efforts.
Plus many confidential info gathered that pointed to the sinister plan.
I will be stupid to support such tribalistic move to win Lagos, just based on the fact that GRV would do the bidding of a group that had made East, hot zone.

I find that some of the most balanced and confident adults are diplomats kids who lived in different countries, absorbed different cultures and have a bird's eye view of the world.
If I was to move to Saudi, chances are it will be with Neom project which will be virtually a town of mostly expatriates with British schools etc. Just like an expatriate living in Shell Camp
My considerations family wise are more about impact on my wife's career, and because my daughter is allergic to nuts, we tend to travel within Europe where food labelling is clearer and emergency response would be more reliable. I can't guarantee that in Saudi. I think you've actually covered the main points. You've pointed out that your friend's a Muslim so it's fair to say he adapted fairly easily. His outlook in life is similar to the laws of that society. He might not have a problem with his wife or daughter not being able to go with him to the stadium. Or not being able to flex a cool Hennessy or champagne in public. No matter the place you are in that society, you are bound to feel the restrictive effects of their society especially from where you're coming from. The ultimate question is if the difference in earning is truly worth it. |
