Rubish talk. What about the knife that Peter used to cut off the ear of one of those who came to arrest Jesus. What was peter doing carrying a knife about? Was it for suya? The Reverend father that was killed right inside his parish in 2006 nko? Was he a prosperity preacher? Wicked people. . . Una dey find who una wan kill. Of course a lot of them do not depend on these guards for protection or safety. If not, explain why after being led into the stadium or arena, they still come out on a pulpit in full view of everyone and sometimes step down and into the isles (guarded of course). Imagine millions descending on a man of God to touch the helm of his garment all at once. lol |
I have always known pastor Kumuyi to b a balanced preacher and an annointd man of God. His messages bless me each time i listen to them. He also has been in the healing n miracle ministry for several years. Deeper life and Christ embassy have more in common than many have cared to observe. |

wetu:Please answer my question: Is it possible to live a truly holy life without the Holy Spirit? If your answer is no, then the OP is an excellent presentation of a call to repentance and readiness for the Lord's appearing for He (the Spirit) is the one that prepares us for His appearing. ![]() |

Azibalua:I remember Rev Tom announcing that a man at Accra Ghana just got up from his wheel chair and began walking. |
Joagbaje:Yes i do bro. He began to hear again and came to testify. It was during his mum's testimony that epilepsy was mentioned. After Pastor cast out the devil, the boy confirmed he was free. 'How do you know?' Pastor asked the boy; 'I know. . . i felt it' came the reply. Soo touching. |

Enigma:You have answered the question already. It is because of the innocence and vulnerability of these little ones that ministries like Christ Embassy take prayers and care for little children seriously. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-265721.0.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lEP4t7o5uY http://theinnercitymissionofchristembassy.org/beta4/ |

Joagbaje:Speaking of yookos.com, Please follow link below to see my testimony. I informed you of this, remember? https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-619899.0.html |
Saints of God, On Sunday morning, (20th February 2011) my Pastor came to church looking rather troubled. He called me out as soon as he arrived and began to say some strange things. He told me he has had this strong stirring in his Spirit to pray; a burden that did not seem to go no matter how much he prayed. He prayed for days and could not eat but still felt that burden. His Spirit was troubled. On Thursday night he had a strange dream: he saw himself in a cage with animals. He woke up terrified and couldn't sleep but continued in prayer. He prayed, wept, read and confessed God's Word. His wife did her best to encourage him with scriptures declaring that it is well but this burden still wouldn't lift. On Friday, he had an anonymous number kept calling his line and when he picked there was no response from the other end. He sent an SMS to the line asking to know who it was but no response. On Saturday (19th Feb '11), he dreamed another dream, this time he saw two people arguing over something and suddenly one of them pulled out a gun and shot the other. He looked to see the person who was shot and guess who it was. . . my humble self. He instructed that the church prayed intensely against this evil that had been revealed. As though it wasn't enough, he called for another prayer meeting in his house that Sunday evening where they prayed, broke bread and prophesied. I was not at his house but I heard that he had said, 'even though it happens i will come out alive and well'. Thank God for the scriptures and the Holy Spirit in our lives. . . I was able to get comfort through prayer after I heard these things. I also remembered the message on yookos.com on Thursday (17th Feb '11) of the same week where Pastor Chris instructed us to fast and pray against death and the manipulation of evil among God's people. A prayer meeting was organized in the evening of the same Thursday to break the fast, which I attended and was greatly encouraged. On Monday (21st Feb '11), the following day, while I was at work. I got a call from our regional pastor's wife and it went: Where are you? to which i replied, 'I'm at work'. Then she asked, 'have you been having been feeling a strong uneasiness or an urge to pray?. . . Have you received any death threats or anonymous calls?' 'Not really' came my reply. 'I pray always. . . but Pastor XXXX shared some things with us which we prayed about'. 'Okay' came her reply, ' Pastor XXXX has been kidnapped. . . please limit your movement as much as possible and keep praying'. Then she called later to check on me asking where I was and instructing that we get other leaders to pray with a specific prayer point: That there will be confusion in their midst, Pastor XXXX will be released immediately without money, and the perpetrators will be exposed. Many in the church prayed without ceasing, some refusing to eat. My movements were limited as i spent most of the time on the floor praying and groaning. I reasoned with God, asking questions like: how will this bring you glory? did you not send us? How can wickedness triumph over us. Remember the Words and the promises with which you sent us. Remember your flock. I continued praying on Tuesday, this time with a note of victory in my spirit. Somehow, I knew in my Spirit I could not be denied an answer. As I continued I felt the peace of God but will not stop praying and declaring the counsel of God in the power of the Spirit. I made up my mind to fast and pray until I heard he has been released. . . and so did the church. And oh how God loves to answer the cries of His saints. On Wednesday, by 5am i got an sms from a brother in church saying, ' My children, I have heard you days past'. Oh what comfort it brought. Later at about 11am, i received a call from my pastor's wife saying he he was released at about 6am that Wednesday. They took him somewhere in a bus that morning and pushed him out. She put her husband online who said, 'I have read the scriptures concerning God's deliverance but now i have experienced it. . .it is more real to me. I saw death'. The rest of the story, concerning his experience, the sad state of security and security agencies in our nation, the kidnappers' confusion and why they let him go is another day's talk. For now, Please join me in celebrating this great God of glory. The God of Daniel Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego is alive in us and He is the same, yesterday, today and forever!! He never fails, and he is mighty to save. |
She didn't retain it. That's what happened. You may receive from God in such an atmosphere of the Word, faith and the anointing; but it is up to you when you leave that place to resist the devil steadfastly using God's Word rightly. Symptoms may show up, but they are lies of the devil, they are a mirage. The sickness is actually gone. . . . so resist the devil and he will flee! Staying away from fellowship with the Word and the Spirit or with fellow believers is one sure way to loose your healing. Mind you, satan is out to get the word and the testimony out of your mouth, that it spread no further. Sin is another reason. |
"A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit." (Proverbs 15:4). @Joagbaje, Mabel, Azibalua Thanks for your inspiring testimonies. And for saving this thread from satanic influence. The fire of the Spirit is evident in your conversation. Keep it up! Bros Joe, tell us naa. . . how did it go with the sick man lying down? lol. |
^^Got ya! ![]() Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: [20] And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, [21] And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. [22] And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; [23] And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. [24] And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. [25] But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. [26] And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. [27] Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: [28] For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. [29] Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. [30] And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. [31] And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. |
Enigma:Thanks for the link, it works with everyone of those translations that I had the time to try, except (maybe) the KJV because of is archaic English. BTW guys, this is not a WOF thing, they are ok with the KJV- only that for them, paradise was in hades (the good side though- Abraham's bosom Lk. 16:22). So I agree that Jesus went to hell even though I may not call Abraham's bosom (in hades/hell) paradise. Now, I may not have the time to respond to every post as we enter the new week. Please be nice, shun nastiness as this is a new year and besides. . . it's my thread remember? ![]() |
kai! I just dey realise dis NIV thingy o ![]() @donnie, Still awaiting your response on the "Jesus went to hell" story. Just book, chapter and verse will do.
Eph 4: 8 When He ascended on high, he led captives in His train and gave gifts to men. Ephes. 4:9 (What does 'he ascended' mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? Matthew 27:50-53 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. [51] And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; [52] And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, [53] And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. From where did these come? Where were these captives locked up? |
I had done my studies before I put that there. . . and I did not think you will ignore that. Ok , before you use your king James to condemn me to hell Here is the NIV rendering: Luke 23:43- Jesus answered him, 'I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise'. I guess I can safely move the coma now? Jesus answered him, 'I tell you the truth today, you will be with me in paradise'. Remember that no Greek MSS had punctuation of any kind until the 9th century and then it was only a dot in the middle of the line separating each word. All punctuation, therefore, rests upon human authority. This is a statement of fact. The Greek reads, "Verily to thee I say, Today with Me thou shalt be in paradise." Which again can be rendered as: "Verily to thee I say Today, with Me thou shalt be in paradise." |
My Opinion doesn't count much. . . study your bible. |
nuclearboy:When you read the king James, bear in mind that in the original Greek we didn't have punctuations. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. See what happens when you move the coma from after the word 'thee' to after the word 'To day'. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee To day, thou shalt be with me in paradise. Bear in mind also that Jesus did not go straight to heaven from the cross, He descended into hell because he bore our sins. This is the reason why many refer to that section in hades where the righteous were kept awaiting Christ's redemption as paradise. . . Because he descended into hell and not heaven right after his death. Secondly, you do not seem to be making your position clear on whether the thief on Christ's right hand was saved or not. Don't get it mixed up brother, the fact that there is a consummation of salvation at the end does not mean that the one who receives Christ is only 'partially', saved. Yes there is a race to be won, yes there is a prize to receive at the end of all things; however you cannot live victoriously to receive that prize at the end unless you know that of a truth you have been born again with the life God (1Jn 5: 11-13); you are one with the father and the Son (1cor 6:17); you are from above and not of this world (Jn 17:16-18), you have (and are) the glory of God (2Cor 3:18, J 17:22); you have overcome because Jesus has overcome (Jn 16:33, I Jn 4:4). This is not say that there isn't another overcoming to do, there actually is (Rev3:5). But that's what the fight of faith is about (1 Tim. 6:12). It is a good fight because we have been declared victors from the beginning and we are also told to lay hold on eternal life because we can let it slip- but God forbid! We win with Christ all the way till the end! Now I think this sounds better than making your brothers and sisters in Christ look like common criminals or devils because their views differ slightly from yours. love ya. ![]() |
^^My dear, there is a difference between the gifts of the Holy spirit (1cor 12:3-11) and ministry gifts (Eph 4:11-13). While former refers to gifts freely given by the Holy spirit as He wills (and we are commanded to desire them), the latter are ministry gifts (offices) given to different churches (we are not told to desire them, you are called into these offices by God himself). You may have a title, but if the Holy Spirit doesn't bring you into that office, you cannot function with respect to that office. |
