Hello guys I just got into the US about 2 hours ago. Flew in using Aeroflot from Tokyo to Los Angeles via Moscow. The Journey was the longest I ever had. A320 From Tokyo to Moscow was about 10 hours flight time B777 from Moscow to Los Angeles was about 12hours And we has a 6hours layover at Moscow. On arrival at LAX joined the queue then scanned my passport and also got the printout from the biometric .
Straight to the CBP. Was the only Black guy on the line. Next.
Me: Good day. Handing over my passport. CBP: stamps me in and then asked how long are you here for. ME: out of shock i answered About 10days (wasn’t expecting any questions and I am staying for 3 weeks. ) CBP: Are you coming from Nigeria? ME: NO. Am coming from Japan. CBP: where will you be staying? ME: A hotel at Long beach. CBP: hands me my PP. And said enjoy your stay.
Was expecting the scary interrogation I see people talk about here. Thanks guys I was prepared for them sha.

tolanibae: Thanks so much for your responses.
The truth is that I can't travel earlier than the date I chose. I wish I could but some personal and financial reasons beyond my control won't allow it.
I have to say this that nairaland has been of so much tremendous help to me ever since the beginning of this processing. One thing that hasn't been helping us in this part of the world is lack of information. This thread has been able to provide lots of information. However, I'll still say that there are too many speculations and assumptions and very little facts.
I had to walk into the embassy to make enquiries from the officials today and based on what I found out, the 45 days is still an assumption or otherwise a time span for the biometrics. I do not entirely trust them because of their corrupt processes and selfish mindset but I think if the 45 days deadline is official, it should be specified somewhere or the other by the UAE government, UAE is a very organized country from what have seen.
I agree that people's visas are been cancelled before entry but it's not only because of time deadline, I met someone whose visa came out this June and was cancelled. People's Visa are been cancelled even before 40 days. The little explanation I was able to get was that cancellation involves agents one way or the other.
Am not trying to mislead anybody but am willing to take this gamble. My Visa States clearly that I have almost a month before I move so I'm sticking to that. Those that have their visa cancelled should find out exactly why. There is a reason why the embassy is always telling people to contact their agent after having visa cancelled.
For what it's worth, I am willing to use myself as an example in this 45 days issue and am very optimistic. I'll share my experience later about the outcome so people can learn. I believe if am destined to go to UAE, some assumptions or speculations cannot stop me. I have already warned my agent not to try any nonsense.
Thanks again to everyone that has contributed to this thread. I have been observing this Thread since this year and noticed that even those that has never been to UAE are now the Special advisers on this Thread making those that has been here long enough to take the back seat. These issues of visa and Bio metrics was explained by Justi4jesu or Nattybanta but no one took note and in same page people were still asking questions about same. Some of you guys tend to flood this thread with questions that was answered seconds ago maybe hoping to get a more comfortable answer from newbies. I remember when the likes of Justi, Natty, Leosir, DrDre, Nonny and Many others with Long time experience in UAE always dedicate time here to offer selfless services. but now they have taken the back-seat cos you all just keep asking them if they are SURE or a Friend's Friend's told u that his friend said. You guys should be Civil in this thread and quit speculations. If u don't have a genuine answer to any Question asked, keep it to yourself than causing confusion by speculating. |

Why not try Dubai or even Europe. |

Mush: My POE is LAX and most of these airlines make stops in their base country eg. Dubai, Istanbul, Doha, Paris and co.
Under what conditions wouldnt i generally require a Transit visa? Like if one doesnt step out of the airport, it wouldnt be required ya? Sorry bout the long question. You only require a transit Visa if you would be changing airport terminals for your connecting flight. they always specify when you are booking a flight. |

LegitBachelor: I've gone for my visa interview. Went with the following documents: 1. My GTB Receipt 2. My Appointment Slip 3. My Confirmation Slip 4. My International Passport 5. My Passport Photo and 6. Documents showing ties to Nigeria
The documents I presumed will provide evidence of my ties include my bank statements, my appointment letter with my workplace and my appointment with an international organisation. Also I attached my hotel booking confirmation. All these I out in a separate file and tagged them evidence of ties to Nigeria
When I got to the venue I only went in with the documents I listed. To make things easy for me and the embassy security guys I left my belt and my money in the car. My appointment was for 6:45am.
All the VOs at the windows this morning were causcasians.......I think. There were lots of refusals. I also noticed the interviews lasted a bit longer than I expected. Its quite sad that one will be engaged on a lengthy interview and yet be denied
I can't remember my window but the lady in front of me was granted visa. Then I was called in:
VO: Good morning Me: Morning VO: Can I have your passport please Me: *Gives him* VO: So why do you want to go to the United States? Me: Intend going to Dallas, Texas on vacation (didn't give details). Might also check on Mr G. who's a family friend (he then started typing) VO: Oh ok, your family friend is based in the States? Me: Yes he is VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria? Me: Yes. I've been to Denmark, Germany, Holland, China, and India VO: When did you travel to the Schengen States? Me: I travelled on dates A, for Denmark, dates B & C for Germany and D for Holland VO: All in 2017? Me: Yes VO: So you travelled twice to Germany this year? (Now facing me) Me: Yes, I travelled on dates B and C VO: So where did you travel to in Germany and what did you go to do in Germany? Me: *This was my strong point as it enabled me explain the work I do for the international organisation which was what took me to Germany. He delved into testing my knowedge on certain areas to know if I was really telling the truth but I was vibrating since its a field I'm good in and passionate about. He asked over 5 questions here . And he kept typing as I talked* VO: (He then switched from my inernational job to my government job) So what do you guys do at your primary place of work? Me: We regulate bla bla bla and my department where I work is particularly tasked with bla bla bla VO: Mention the names of your fellow colleagues at your workplace who go with you to Germany for the assignment with the IInternational organisation. Me: Mr U, J and I VO: Are you married? Me: No VO: How many times have you travelled. Me: *Haba I thought I had told you * 6 times to 5 countries VO: I will be approving you visa. (He then picked up the white form and pointed at the address there). You will be contacted to pick your passport at this address. (He then handed over the white form to me) Me: Thank you
I then made to go but I realise my passport wasn't with me. I wanted to go back and ask him for it cause it seemed strange to be going home without it ...the last time I went, I got my passport back immediately after the interview. But I then realised that the reason why I wasn't given back my passport is because my visa will be embossed on my passport so they took it to emboss the visa.
As I walked out of the building, I made sure I put a serious face so nobody will ask me how it went but surprisingly a female mopol called me out and asked me with some measure of certainty if I got the visa. I said yes but I had no money on me. Also as I was about leaving the final checkpoint another mopol asked me for money. Now my question is this: How did they know that I had gotten the visa? I'm guessing the guys inside the building gave the guys outside some form of signal .
No document was requested just my passport. Not even my statement of result or appointment letters. I'm so grateful to everyone here. I am so grateful to Kristinbaby who gave me confidence and provided very useful advice. Most of all I'm most grateful to God.
Please I have a question......when will my passport be most likely ready for pickup. I'm travelling next week week Saturday to a schengen state. Hope it will be ready by then o. Congrats . @bolded part, am still wondering how they do find out. i guess its an inside job. cos when i went for mine, we were 5 guys (they were all denied) that came out together i wasn't even holding my white paper. but they singled me out . |

1x24: She didn’t get the visa.
I don’t have a full transcript cos she’s rather upset but it went something like:
*********************** VO: Why are you travelling to the US? Her: I have been invited by my brother and his wife to their traditional wedding and the blessing of their union. This is taking place at *****, close to the home of the bride in line with tradition. My brother is doing his PhD in ***** at the university of *****, hence the contact address on the application. They legally got married on September *, 2017. I am on the bridal train and she has written me a letter of invitation together with the invitation card for the wedding. VO: What do you do for a living? Her: I am an investment analyst working for *****. VO: Have you ever traveled outside Nigeria? Her: No I haven’t VO: How long have you worked for *****? Her: Since Feb 2015, and I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience from the transactions I’ve worked on. VO: Are you married? Her: No I’m single, but I have a brother and his own wife and children, and a father, in Nigeria... VO: (interrupts) Do you have any family in the US? Her: My brother is my only direct relative in the US, but since he is now legally married to *****, she too is my relative. VO: (types away at the computer for a long while) VO: I’m sorry you do not qualify for this application in line with US immigration laws. ***********
This is very disappointing. I’m really gutted about how so many people have tricked and cheated the system over the years, and continue to do so, that now genuine and honest people keep getting falsely flagged. Sounds tooooo desperate to me, and also was giving out toomuch information that were not necessary and looked like a staged performance, guess that was why the visa wasn't issued as she was trying to make everything a tie to/for her, Also the brothere got married when he went to the state, So the Vo thinks the lady would do same. |

OBSERVATIONS AT THE CONSULATE ON THE DAY OF MY INTERVIEW
Some people get to the interview with Crammed expected answers. and when questions are twisted, you get lost.
Someone said she was going to Florida for vacation and they asked her, would you visit Maimi and her reply was NO its only Florida i want to Visit. she was asked again, where in Florida are you going to, she said the main city. so i wonder if you can talk about Florida without mentioning MAIMI. Straight BLUE paper.
Another lady said she is visiting Newyork for vacation and sightseeing. and was asked how long you would be staying and her reply was, "NOT MORE THAN 6 MONTHS" and was asked a whole 6months for a vacation and she said yes, was asked again , where would you stay for the six months and her reply was A HOTEL. straight BLUE paper.
Another couple were asked, when would you be traveling and they said, my husband would go first and i would come later , where as they said they are going for 10 days vacation. so you guys should do the maths. Straight Blue paper.
Another heavily pregnant lady of atleast 5 - 6 months claims she is going on a 12 days vacation and she don't want to give birth there. So i wonder why u decide to go on a vacation at this stage. Straight Blue Paper.
A guy was asked howmuch he has budget for the trip the answer he gave was 6 million. but the said his salary was 130k. so do the Maths.
Someone claims He has a poultry farm of about 2000birds and want to go on vacation. to rest and also learn more about Poultry farming. so i just wonder if ******* anyways its a Straight BLUE.
And another annoying thing i noticed there was people dress up in Suits Coats hang Identity cards as if they are for sell. i just see it as someone that has alot to hide. you don't need to show you ID as proof of work, Afterall plastic ID id just 150 Naira. for me i wore a simple polo and a short and a sneakers, Imagine some dressed like traditional rulers just to score points. just be yourself and be confident. u only fidget if you are lying. and those VO knows from the way you answer your questions.
More than 6 people before me got a blue paper and they deserved the blue if i were the VO cos their response to questions asked were not real.
My advice is if you are planning a genuine trip, just be your self, fill you DS-160 your self so you wouldn't waste your 64k on a blue paper and also try and listen to the people taking the interview and you would hear some likely questions you might be asked. |
