I wrote to my employer via mail since 6 months now for more than 4 times and he never replied to those mails, he only replied with the words of mouth that he’s working on it. I’m completing a year on this visa next month and I’m afraid if the year won’t count for me

tunlex01:

I don't see it being a problem.
How did you notify your employer about this issue? remember to make it official via email with evidence. (avoid talks without evidence).

I’m on 482 visa Labour agreement and my employer has been giving me 75 hours per fortnight instead of 76hours. There is no plan to complete this hours by my employer even though it’s part of the conditions of my visa. Will this affect my PR visa application in the future?

They should respond with an apology and state it was skipped.

It is not too late. The CO should have sent a reminder or follow up with a call, maybe they ignored the reminder email too.
tunlex01:

They can still respond.
Chai, it’s well with your organisation.

Thanks I appreciate

Hello Tunlex, Bellong

I just realized that the reason why my visa 489 application has remained stagnant is because Home Affairs sent a mail to my employers to verify my employment since January 2020 and they didn’t reply this message till today. It is now over 2 years and I’m just finding out today. I am heartbroken and confused on what next to do. Please I have attached the mail and will appreciate your advices

Please I need help. I’ve been waiting for visa 489 since 2019 with my status saying “received” without any CO contact. I’ve ran out of patience and want to withdraw the application and apply for 482 subsequent entrant as I married just this year and my wife happens to be on 482 Labour agreement. Is this move a good one ? Note; I wasn’t going to let DHA find out that I got married. Should I go ahead or continue waiting for this 489 that I don’t know when it’ll come.

Thanks

Hi Everyone,
So my brother in law was one of the last set of people to apply for the defunct 489 visa in October 2019 and he just got CO contact yesterday asking him to provide certain documents for his wife one of which is proof of functional English. She already did PTE and submitted with the application but the PTE is now expired (Expired October 2021). Amongst the list of options given to him, which I have attached to this write up, is it sufficient to reupload the PTE as well as her WAEC result? She finished from UNN but it is seemingly impossible to get a letter stating she was taught in English. I appreciate your input in this

This has elicited some hope in me. Seems they’ve started touching our files once again after 3 years. To God be the glory

Please I want to ask a question concerning my application and that of my wife. I’ve applied for 489 since 2019 without getting a reply since then. My fiancé was in Australia since 2018 and only came back two months ago and we married. However, there was an instruction not to get married while I was applying for my 489 visa but I can’t keep waiting as time has been wasted already and we can’t continue waiting. An organization has agreed to sponsor my wife’s 482 visa so I want to ask if she can add me to the visa application as partner even though I didn’t mention her name while o was applying mine. Will it work? Or will it have any negative effect on my already existing application?? Will DHA get mad at me for marrying while I’m told not to? Please help

tunlex01:

Oh. I'm not sure how to advise you now.
What was your points when you got ITA? Now that you are married, if your points will change, then that may lead to NJL.
Check that your point is not changing and notify DHA on your immiaccount.

Thank You. My point was 75 then. I’ve decided to continue waiting. Thanks for your time

tunlex01:

Waiting or her applying for you will not fast-track the process.
First, you need to notify DHA that your status has changed. I'm not sure you are allowed to get married while waiting for 489. You are to land first then get married. Not notifying DHA can also be an issue if they found out.
Is your spouse already on a PR visa or employer is still processing?

Employer just started the process, she’s not on PR yet.

I need some help. I applied for 489 in August 2019 and still waiting for a grant. Meanwhile, my fiancée has been in Australia on students visa since 2018. Now, she’s on 485 which will expire by October. She came offshore this week and we’re now married in Nigeria. Is it wise for her to notify DHA and file for me as she’s already being sponsored by her employer to get PR or I just wait till to get a grant for my 489? Even though I’m tired of waiting

Good day everyone. Please I would like to know if someone on a graduate visa 485 can now travel out of Australia and return without having to apply for exemption.

Thanks

1. No. Cos the 489 is a skilled migrant visa and your intent on student visa is to return to your home country which will be negated by your application of a skilled visa 489 which has the ability to proceed to permanent visa after 2 years.

2. First of, don’t contract someone who is not a registered MARA to apply on your behalf. Even a migration lawyer is expected to have a MARA license. To your question, I don’t think it would affect your application negatively but I’d advise against that.

3. This will be based on the contract you signed. If the contract allows, you may be able to but moving to another agent is one of the hardest things to do especially if that clause is not well stated in the signed agreement. You will need your application details to be able to transfer. It can be messy.
If you are currently having issues with the agent/lawyer you are using, you can report the person to MARA or ombudsman or the legal association in the lawyer’s state

4. Yes, few grants have been dropping here and there. The discontinuation has no effect. Visa grants have generally been slow since the pandemic.

5. Grant is not by occupation. DHA does not work with any known format.

6. Yes, people have waited for longer. Grants were recorded yesterday, so let’s hope there will be more in the coming days/weeks.

Thanks for this reply. I appreciate

Good evening everyone, please help me with these questions. Thanks

1. Can I apply for a students visa while waiting for a grant on another visa subclass i.e 489?
2. If a migration lawyer who does not have a valid MARN number helps in the application process of a client, does it in anyway affect the application negatively?
3. If an applicant is not comfortable/satisfied with the services of a migration lawyer, can he discontinue the contract with the agent and hire someone else even after visa application has been made?
4. Are there applicants of visa subclass 489 who are getting visa grants of recent or did the discontinuation of the subclass affect people who already applied before it was abolished? Is this subclass still of priority to home affairs or they’ve fully shifted focus to subclass 491?
5. Are there people who applied for 489 offshore with the skill; Multimedia Specialist, who have gotten grants or contact in recent time?
6. Do you think it’s normal to have stayed for over 26 months without getting even a contact from a CO?
Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by donpaulo44(m): 9:58am On Nov 28, 2021
Just discovered that My skill- Multimedia Specialist is on the Priority List (PMSOL) yet, I wasn’t given priority in visa processing all this while. I’ve been waiting for 489 since September 2019. Any idea why this is happening and is it wise to send a mail to home affairs asking why my visa hasn’t been granted for this long even while my skill is on priority list.
Please help

Thanks. He finally sent a proof that the visa was actually lodged. 489 was in use the time the visa was lodged in August 2019. I think it was in November they replaced it with 491. However, they said they’ll attend to all pending 489 cases before scrapping it off entirely.

ictmikky:
I think you should inform Home Affairs. 489 is no longer in use. You should have some proofs that he really lodged an application

I have a concern.

I'm using an immigration agent to process my visa (489) since 2019. Since the visa was lodged in August 2019, the application hasn't been looked into and I think it's been a long time since then. Hence I demanded for the login to my immi account and was told I can't have it as he's using a general account for all his clients. So I ask, is this a thing? I thought those accounts are unique to each applicant. So what happens if I need to make an update on the account when I'm done using the agents services

I drive a Toyota Corolla 2003, I want to know if replacing it with a Honda Accord 2008 is a step up or step down.

Does the Honda Accord have a peculiar problem? Coz I think it’s cheap considering looks lol

Abeg oo!
Have they resumed issuance of visa for offshore applicants? Coz I know of a friend who’s onshore that his wife just got visa today.
I applied since September 2019 and I’m yet to hear from them.

Even if she add her MSc, Vetassess only considers experience after qualification.
If her first degree was from a tier 1 uni or 5 years ago, those years would have been approved.
Does she have any experience in Quality assurance after her Masters?

The experience was before her masters. Although she recently got a job in that role which hasn’t been up to a month.

Quality assurance is a level 1 occupation.
AQF level is also important asides from the job descriptions and organogram especially with level 1 occupations.
Which university did you wife graduate from? And was it a 4 or 5 year course?

It was a 4 year course from IMSU. However, she intends adding her Masters in Public health which she completed in Australia.

Quality Assurance Manager is a broad profession. So, any
Science-based discipline can fit. The most important factor for a positive outcome from Vetasses is the job description and the organogram indicating the position for the applicant.

Thanks for this response.

Good day people. Please I need an assistance on my wife’s PR application. She’s already onshore on a students visa and wants to apply for a PR visa ASAP. She has BSc in Microbiology and wants to assess as a Quality Assurance Manager as she worked in that capacity in Nigeria before she left.
So I want to ask if Vetassess will give her a positive assessment on that skill with a microbiology degree.

Thanks

Good day Gazzuzz and other gurus in the house. I have some issues I need guidance on. I got a Toyota Corolla 2003 in September and drove it for only one month and the transmission started giving me issues. If parked for a while, it delays to pick up when you select Drive. I took it to a mechanic that said the solution was to change the gear oil and correct the setting. I obliged and he did it. The problem stopped temporarily and started again after few days. Please what else can I do to correct this? Thanks
