PoliticsRe: BUHARI: The Celebrity President by donphilopus: 12:01pm On Jun 20, 2015

newsprocom:
[size=14pt]I am a staunch, unapologetic supporter of Nigeria's President, General Muhammadu Buhari. I look beyond tribal and religious lines in the interest of the nation. I've been with PMB since 2003 and have consistently campaigned and voted for him. As a former party member of the defunct CPC, the kind of joy that filled my heart to see him take the oath of office is unexplainable. Now, he is the President and Commander-In-Chief and a lot is on his shoulders. The kind of expectation that surrounded his emergence also cannot be over-emphasized. Many expected that on assuming office, he would take some decisive steps; even former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair advised Mr. President to make some quick moves to reposition the nation. Nevertheless, at this time, it seems Nigerians have entered "One Chance", complaints here and there about PMB's epic slowness to make decision. Yes, Baba is slow in making necessary moves. I will not because of my love for Mr. President or my party allegiance not say the truth when it matters. All we've seen so far is PMB traveling from place-to-place and receiving myriad of visitors and more sickening, making his priceless VP literally redundant. Also, PMB since assumption of office have been touring the north and mingling with his purely northern clout, where are the Mamoras, Fayemis and Dabiris around him during the campaigns? Not once has PMB visited anywhere in the south since assuming office, a costly mistake GEJ made during his tenure such that it was too late for him to correct. I hope PMB is humble enough to learn. It appears Baba hasn't realized what he is into yet, we want a President that is proactive, involved and decisive, who will roll-up his sleeves and get his hands dirty. Enough of the talk, now you are there, get to work. If anyone wants to know what being proactive means, consult the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase. Even Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has showed to be at a higher level in leadership delivery and proactiveness than PMB at the moment.

Furthermore, President Buhari's lack of interest in little salient issues is unwelcoming. Playing 'clean', dilly-dallying and side-stepping on issues is unexpected of a leader. A leader must not be afraid to be involved and must take a position on issues. Even former President GEJ as clueless as some people claimed he was was always involved in issues and no matter what, he took a stand but unfortunately, it mostly turned out to be the unpopular stance. The simple issue that recently rocked the APC leadership clearly shows that just as the PDP, the APC is equally as unprepared for their status as the ruling party. The President ought to be a mediator, the respected figure whose voice cannot be declined, for now, that's not what PMB has showed himself to be. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is the one playing his role on his behalf, voluntarily calling the APC house to order right under the watch of Mr. President. Such attitude indicates that PMB may be too careful not to step on people's toes, a factor that made Nigerians vote GEJ out of office in the first place. This also questions PMB's total commitment to tackle corruption headlong. As for those who still clamor for patience with Baba, well, I'm sorry to let you know patience has ran out. He's not the first President Nigeria would have nor the only President we'ld see in the world's history. Presidents have come and gone and we've seen Presidents in world history change the course of their nation within days, Late Lee Kuan Yew and Mandela are typical examples. The immediate past Uruguayan President, Jose Mujica is alive to help out and his story is there for all to read. Those are transformational leaders who were prepared and meant business. By now, a common proactive leader that is deft and means business would have done some basic foundational things, it seems PMB is unprepared for the job even as a former Head of State and a 4-time aspirant. If Late Gen. Murtala Mohammed was the President at this time, you and I know he most likely would have taken some key, expected, common sense decisions by now. Don't you know the popular phrase "Fellow Nigerians" and the phrase "With Immediate Effect" was gotten from Gen. Murtala Mohammed? Those phrases alone shows that Gen. Murtala was an involved leader who took quick decisive actions and carried Nigerians along. When it comes to being proactive and carrying Nigerians along, 'for now', PMB has failed. PMB has a 'Messiah' figure, a Messiah saves, delivers and takes action. A messiah is not a celebrity gallivanting from countries-to-countries receiving cheers or going from parlours-to-parlours. PMB spends more time in his celebrity state of mind than as a Commander-In-Chief. It is not too late for PMB to get his acts right. Therefore, I'm calling on PMB to roll-up his sleeves and get to work. Nigerians are not going to listen to any inspiring story after 4 years. I remain a fan of PMB, I'm just trying to make common sense.

Bullcrap! I was even reading the write-up, thinking it would make sense. When I go to where this piast wrote "Nigerians have entered onechance" I stopped. Stop deceiving people with 'I'm a staunch supporter of Buhari' because it's stale. A known protection seeker on this forum was once a 'staunch' supporter of Buhari as well albeit fake. You are a TANdroid!

Wake up, Atiku is the new king... South South and East will give him all the backing he needs. Tinubu is the king of the Yorubas.
Most of you on Nairaland have problem with comprehension. You clearly don't even understand politics so no need wasting my time on you. The BoT is an intra-party affair and it has nothing to do with PDP, only APC board members would vote during the Election. So, I hereby declare your South South and South East null and void!

Assuming you are right, how did Atiku play-out Tinubu during Senate and Speaker of the House? Look Tinubu cant stand this fight, he's fighting the entire North and non of his Southern brothers seems to care. Yesterday they removed his picture from APC office, which other sign do you need ?
Can't you comprehend my post? Go and reread the post you quoted and see what I wrote there. I said Tinubu would always be victorious if it's within the party (intra-party). But Atiku would have an edge if the battle involves both party, ie, APC and PDP. Since this BoT is APC affair, Atiku is gonna lose it!

Bros three northerners contested the presidential primaries and thus with the control of the sw bloc votes was the beautiful bride. The scenarios are not similar Thenorthern votes during the primaries were divided between the three candidates. When it comes to the north against any southern candidate they will unite. Some northerners may not like Atiku but they will still prefer him to a Yoruba man.
Let's wait and see how everything unfolds.
PoliticsRe: Atiku, Akande Battle For APC BOT Chairmanship by donphilopus: 8:38am On Jun 20, 2015
nerodenero:
Bros, a house divided against itself cannot stand. This was glaring during the NASS and HOR elections. It is obvious the North in general is moving against Tinubu dominance and I don't see them backtracking now.

I want Akande to emerge winner but I think the odds favour Atiku going by the recent past.
Bros, I don't think Lawal, Shehu Sani, Bukar Aba Ibrahim, Marafa and other core Northerners would 'openly' support any of Tinubu's Candidate, if the North were going against him (Tinubu). During the House of Reps' inauguration, Gbajagbiamila garnered 174 votes while Dogara had 182, that means only 43 APC Reps voted (for) Dogara, the rest gave their votes to Gbaja. If the Northerners were against Tinubu, they wouldn't have massively voted his supposed preferred Candidate (Gbaja) against their brother (Dogara). If not for PDP's bloc votes, Dogara wouldn't have won. As long as it involves only APC, Tinubu would continue to floor Atiku!

APC would be better off to avoid playing into the hands of Atiku. IBB like Atiku and Saraki are Maradonas. They had better see OBJ for more tutorials on how to stop Atiku.

As much as I hate to admit it, Atiku would floor Akande if he isn't stopped which means another loss for Tinubu.
Bros, this battle is intra-party and I don't see Atiku defeating Tinubu. Forget about his cash, with his cash, he still came 3rd during the Presidential Primaries. Atiku is just too overrated!
PoliticsRe: Atiku, Akande Battle For APC BOT Chairmanship by donphilopus: 8:10am On Jun 20, 2015
cktheluckyman:
Lol you are on your own. The northerners always back one of their own. Events of the last few weeks would have shown you how relevant Tinubu has remained in the polity.Did you not read Kwankwaso's interview? According to him " the APC crisis was caused by a certain party leader who has already gotten his fair share of positions to Underate the G5 governnors and the PDP decampees.Tinubu only controls the sw bloc which is barely 1/6 of the country. The north as a whole is one and 1/3 of the country.
I'm not saying Tinubu controls all the blocs. But outside his Southwest' stronghold, he controls a reasonable number of blocs. The Benue APC groups are always with Tinubu, there are still some blocs loyal to him in Edo, some Northerners who do not want Atiku albeit not loyal to Tinubu, would prefer to go with Tinubu. No need of argument, let's just see how it plays out. One thing I'm so sure of, is that with Akande on the race, Atiku should step down or face humiliation just like the Presidential Primaries!

I believe you made a mistake while posting this comment. You forgot you weren't online with your ShowYourCertificate handle.

Meanwhile, Atiku's group can only, I repeat can only have an edge over Tinubu's group when the battle is not intra-party. When it involves only the party, Tinubu would continue to humiliate Atiku because no PDP members to rescue him (Atiku) on this. Besides, most Northerners who are loyal to Buhari don't even trust Atiku. Let's see how it plays out anyway!

According to the PDPians, if Buhari travels out (of Nigeria) without Amaechi, it means he has been used and dumped. Does that mean Dino Melaye and Ali Ndume have also been used and dumped by Saraki? With the presence of Andy Uba there, we are now sure of what really transpired between Saraki and PDP!

If you condemn(ed) the 'abduction' of Umaru Dikko in London, but commend Wike for this unlawful act/act of thuggery, then you're a hypocrite.

I hope the people commending Wike for this unlawful conduct would not shout foul play if Buhari decides to go after Jonathan and his former aides. Buhari doesn't deal with Police or DSS, he deals with the Military. So if he wanna embark on that kinda task, it would be a case of 'hell on earth' for Jonathan and his immediate aides. Anyway, I trust Buhari. He's neither a tout nor a thug, so he would embark on that!
