I hv heard pple say; brilliance/intelligence is totally different frm teaching. That is to say dat sme1 can b brilliant/intelligent but wont b able to teach efficiently(school teacher).buh i feel dat as long as u can read and understand a text book(in this case a secondary textbook) u should be able to xplain it to ur students. Experiencd teachers should pls clarify dis to us(nairalanders). Any resonable opinion is welcomd.

If I ask you how many are your regular expenses, you may not be able to give an instant answer until you pick up a pen and list them. Why? They are very many! And that is just the regular and predictable ones. How about the unforeseen ones? What if I also ask, how many sources of income do you have? Will it take so long before you answer? No! Why? Not as many. May be just one or two. Again, how often and at what rate does your present source(s) grow? Is it corresponding to the rate and how often your expenses show up? Mostly no! The reality is that while expenses come uninvited, you must take conscious effort before income comes. Living has costs! That is why you hear cost of living. What are you doing at the moment to increase your income level? In a country where almost all infrastructures are provided by the individuals, you can be sure that it is not safe to depend on one income or sit and not do anything to augment your income. While it is normal to blame the government as we always do, has that in anyway changed the situation? No! Someone says the new government will change all that. Well I hope so too. That was how we have been hoping since 1999 and seriously we should keep hope alive. But while we do that, age is counting and responsibilities are mounting. I was a teenager in 1999, now I'm a father! If this new administration will usher in our age-long elusive desires I will be so glad. But, suppose they are there for the next 8years and they fail like previous ones! How old would I be by 2023? God forbid the situation remains as it is in our public universities. Will you be able to afford the cost of private school education for your children by then? If you say you will manage the public universities like that for your children not minding the incessant strikes, what of the challenge of securing admission? Even public universities education is getting costly for the average Nigerian. While we pray, lets take some steps. May God bless our efforts. Amen. What inspired this write up? I just got alerted on my UBA account from my second income as I do every two weeks and it's open to every interested person. It costs me N3,000 to start but God is using it to help me gradually. And this is a fact any day.

Limiting recruitments to only 1st class is equivalent to limiting oneself from a whole world of talents and ideas.

Am envisioning a time when the requirements for application will be any class of degree . And mind you the difference between 2.1 and 2.2 is just 0.1.

Well it all depends on mindset and Gods grace. I graduated with a third class and to get a job wasn't easy but I was optimistic anyways....

I served in Rivers State (2011/2012) stayed over a year without a good job other than 8k &20k teaching job I had.... Fast-forward to March 2014 I moved down to Lagos, got a job as a factory operative in a distillery company with 35k pay by may took advantage of the situation and applied to work as a QC assistant without pay.

They accepted but were kind enough to still pay me 35k after two months of experience I got a job offer of45k cause i was seriously putting out lots of applications..... Just after few months on the job I recently got another offer with a multinational firm with a salary over 100k.....

Just within 12 months I've done three jobs, I love my current job and not planning to leave in the next 5years. Self improvement, confident and Gods grace is all we need.


In my second job I was opportune to be in a panel of interview and i was amazed with how "empty" the so called some of the 2.1 graduate candidate were.... I mean no offence some people don't just prepare for an interview

talkin bout 'EMPTY' 2.1 grads.. U shuld knw dat jst as jesus had a judas amongst his disciple so does 2.1 degree has sme betrayals also. Buh nvr evr generalise 2.1 grads as bein EMPTY koz we wrkd extremely hard to earn it nd we hv got d ability to defend it.tke note..

Now top companies are requesting for minimum of second class lower.

Here's a little story...

A top tier company needed just one employee for an IT position and 2 candidates pulled through to the last stage of the interview.. One of them had a first class and the other had a 2.2...

The HR told the 2.2 guy to step out for a minute while the 1st class guy was been interviewed. She took his attention to a calendar on the wall and asked him what he could make out from it.. He said he saw days and numbers then same question was thrown to the 2.2 guy and he said he could see time, he could see processes and he could see values exchanged for money.
