Interview and biometrics done TLS VI
Spent 11mins on the interview

Questions asked

Name and DOB

Course start and end dates

What school

Why the course? She said "I don't want to hear course modules"

Why the school?

Why the UK?

And the benefits of the course to me in the future

I was just doing dictation and spellings for her.

The dictation really helped me to relax and comport myself well.

Success to all of us.

Wow. These are straight forward questions.

I tap into them oh.

Celomomo:
About 7 minutes

Asked me;

If I feel fit and well before we start

Can you tell me your name, DOB and nationality

Which school am I going?

Did I consider other schools?

What are the modules of my course?

Have I completed other courses(degree)

What I have been doing since graduation

What are my future plans

Who's sponsoring me?

How much does he earn

How many dependents does he have?

If I understood the questions?

Asked if I'm still feeling fit and well after the interview.

Then we thanked each other

I opened with First Bank and it was seamless compared to GTB. GTB stressed me yet I couldn't even gain access to their banking hall to open the said account after providing the references.
First Bank on the other hand provided the referees themselves, now I have both pounds ££
and dollar $$ accounts with them.

Thank you.

I don't have the intention of driving immediately during my studies. Like I said earlier,I asked if having a drivers license from Nigeria would reduce the number of driving lessons one must take before getting a license there and I was looking at Post Graduate work permit era not during studies.

But some people are very quick to conclude and judge. There is nothing wrong in one making plans ahead.

And for the records, I have not been in Nigeria for some years now, I just came back cos of my visa, talking about Nigerian way of driving, I can't even remember because there in the UAE they have strict rules of driving even more than UK. So someone saying I may drive using naija mentality is just based on his assumptions.

Cheers.

LagosismyHome:

Why don't you get to UK first, settle down before rush talk of driving licence. Uk has a very good public transport system and insurance for first time drivers is expensive .

Driving in Uk with the rules and everything is totally different from Nigeria and so is the record keeping. It takes almost 3 years for some points in licence to clear and some can become a problem during ILR application , while some accumulated points makes them take your licence ....Don't go and rush and create future problems for yourself. Some things should be taken as baby steps

Thank you, it's very clear now as I have already decided to leave the international drivers license from Nigeria.

Cheers

duchess90:

Hello Donracy,

@mimilyrics already responded but let me ask you. have you driven a RHD(Right Hand Drive) in the UK before?.

I'll give you my own advice based on experience.Even if you get an international driver's license,if you don't know how to drive a RHD or have never driven in the UK and don't know the road signs, speed limit or even how to use a SatNav trust me you will have so much fine to pay the international license will be as good as useless.

If you break the rules and get points on your license, your insurance will be way too high, plus you can have a 6points penalty and have your international license revoked if you aren't careful.

Advice: When you get into the UK, apply for provisional license, get your lessons done( target block lessons), pass your theory and practical test.

Do them from the scratch and save yourself the stress. The only difference is that you don't need the learn somethings that learners without experience do like parts of a car etc. But driving in the UK is as good as learning from the beginning.

Cheers

To whom according to his need and to whom according to his ability.

LaaJiblik:

It appears you are really focussed on this UK driving waka. Let’s assume you even get the international license which allows you to drive in the UK for 1 year, have you considered the car you will be driving? Do you already have a car? Or you want to buy a car as sooN as you get there? Or maybe you have a friend or relation who is already there and who is happy to put you as an additional driver of their Car? Is immediate driving in the UK really necessary for you? Maybe you need to cool down a little and think carefully about car things...

I think this is the best approach.

Please how do i get access to any app of sort or link to the website so I can start practicing ?

mimilyrics:
In that case, you can start practicing for the UK theory test from Nigeria, get your provisional as soon as you get here, write your theory test and take your driving test after you feel confident that you can ace it.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Donracy: 10:23pm On Aug 30, 2020
So do you have any knowledge about the requirements and where to process it at?

How much etc

Oloshi83:
I don’t think you need to renew your Naija licence to get an international licence.

Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Donracy: 10:20pm On Aug 30, 2020
Possibly that could be the reason.

So no cause for alarm.

The most important thing is that you are TB negative
Go ahead with your application if your bank statement is up to the 28-30 days count and other documents are ready.

No, but I play football and suffered broken ribs two weeks ago. I wonder if that could be it?
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Donracy: 10:18pm On Aug 30, 2020
I think the best option is just to leave it. I just called an FRSC officer here in Lagos and I was informed that I would be getting the original drivers license after 5-6 weeks due to Covid if I renew tomorrow.

Considering the time constraints plus applying for International drivers license it may be too late for me to get it.

mimilyrics:
The one-year entitlement to drive in the UK on licences from other countries expires exactly one year after you start living in the UK.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Donracy: 9:27pm On Aug 30, 2020
Are you saying that the international drivers license expires after one year?

mimilyrics:
No, it won't. The driving courses you take are dependant on you.
You'll need to get an international driver's licence that will entitle you to drive for a year but you will not be able to drive after this except you apply for and get your provisional driver's licence (£34 online application and £43 for postal applications); I suggest that you do this almost as soon as you get here because if you think about applying after your 1 year entitlement expires, it might be difficult to get due to the less than 4-6 months leave left on your BRP except you submit a BRP with extended leave.
Once you get your provisional licence, you can take driving lessons and/or study for your theory test. Once you pass your theory test and you're confident about your driving and understanding of the driving rules/signs, you can register for your driving test.

You can use the official DVLA theory test kit or the driving theory test for car drivers.

So I need to get International drivers license in Nigeria after renewing my license in order to be able to drive in the UK with the License?

Oloshi83:
I don’t believe this is true. The licence itself doesn’t have anything to do with how many lessons you need to do but because you can already drive, you wouldn’t need to do as many lessons as a new learner would. So download the theory app and start practicing for that before you land.

When you arrive, apply for your provisional licence and then start driving lessons. I’d say do a lot of research online especially for the bad habits (which is easy to pick up in Naija) and then you may be able to get away with only doing only a few lessons but only your instructor would be able to give you an exact number.

You can get an international licence in Naija but that would only be valid for a year here and you’d still need to do a test to get a full UK licence anyway (for which I would advise you do at least a couple of lessons - for reasons mentioned earlier - even though you are not required to) so the former is the better option in my view.

Have you had pneumonia in the past?

Thewizardof0zil:
Hi Justwise and other gurus in the house.

Please I had my TB test on Friday, and the “No evidence of active TB was ticked” but the chest X-ray was ticked “abnormal”. And then they also ticked the box where they stated the X-ray result is with me which isn’t the case.

Is there something for me to be worried about? Do I need to go back and complain?. Thanks.

@Mimilyrics @duchess @Skymoore @Justwise and all with relevant knowledge.

Is it true that if you have a valid Nigeria Drivers license it will help you to get UK drivers license by shortening the driving courses you are supposed to go for?

If Yes, my Nigeria drivers license have three names on it while my other documents have 4 names. Please will this be a problem if present it as a proof of driving experience?

My drivers license just expired and I want to renew it. But your responses would be the determining factor

Waiting for your prompt responses

Thanks

I used my UBA ATM card (debit) to pay for both IHS and Visa fees.

When it's time to pay make sure to choose PAGA VERVE both in IHS and Visa.. The exchange rate they used was #385.7 something.

Oma6090:
Good evening all,
Please those that used paga verve to pay please how did you do it?
I have both visa and master card.
do I have to do any special thing to use it for payment?
Or should I just select the paga verve and go ahead with my payment?
Can I also use it to pay for both IHS and VISA.
or just VISA?
Please I need a reply ASAP.

@Mimilyrics, @Justwise, @Duchess and others.

Please I need some clarifications on an urgent matter.

I friend who applied for Tier 4 UK visa and her Interview/Biometrics is tomorrow, self service.

She was refused South Korean Visit visa last year, she was also refused Canada study visa twice in 2018.

Now the issue is, when she applied for UK visa, she declared the refusal for South Korea and one of the Canadian refusals. According to her she forgot.

By the time she remembered she had already uploaded her documents.

So I told her that not declaring that refusal even though she had declared it under the same country and visa category for one of the refusal might lead to a refusal.

Please those who knowledgeable on such issue should please give the necessary guidelines as tomorrow is her interview.

I intend to screenshot the responses I get her and forward to her.

Gracias.
