The CBN expects such retail transactions to be settled at a rate not exceeding 20 percent above the interbank market rate.

A. Travel allowances:

Having cleared the historic backlog of matured letters of credit at the inception of the current flexible exchange rate system, the CBN would immediately begin to provide foreign exchange to all commercial banks to meet the needs of both Personal Travel allowances (PTA) and business travel allowances (BTA) for onward sale to customers. All banks will receive amounts commensurate with their demand per week, which could be sold to customers who meet usual basic documentary requirements.

B. School and Medical Fees:

Similarly the CBN will meet the needs of parents, guardians and sponsors who are seeking to make payments of school and education fees for their children and wards. Such payments must be made directly by the commercial banks to the institution specified by the customer. The CBN will ensure that this process is as smooth as possible and that as many customers as possible get the foreign exchange they genuinely demand, this would also apply to customers seeking to make payments, or purchase foreign exchange, for medical bills and paid directly to hospitals . The supply of FX to retail end users will be sustained by CBN.

C. Forward sales Tenor:

In order to further increase the availability of foreign exchange to all end users, the CBN has decided to significantly reduce the tenor of its forward sales from the current maximum cycle 180 days, to more than 60 days from the date of transaction.



D. FX Sales at Major Airports:

In order to further ease the burden of travelers and ensure that transactions are settled at much more competitive exchange rates, the CBN hereby directs all banks to open FX retail outlets at major airports as soon as logistics permit.

E. Increase efficiency of Foreign exchange Market:

In order to maintain confidence in FX market, the CBN will immediately take the following steps:

Begin implementing its articulated program to clear all unfilled orders in the interbank FX market
Given its plans to meet all unfilled orders, and while provision of FX to the manufacturing sector  will remain the CBN strong priority, they will no longer impose allocations/utilization rules on commercial banks.
Implement all effective intervention program to support the interbank market to ensure adequate liquidity necessary to deliver an efficient foreign exchange market.
Advise FMDQ to activate its FX order-Book system as soon as possible and also accelerate the on-boarding of FX clients on the FX relationship systems to ensure total transparency of FX market.
Given the CBN objective to continuously and vigorously pursue a transparent, liquid and efficient FX market, the bank reiterates it would neither tolerate unscrupulous actions nor hesitate to bring serious sanctions on offenders, be they banks or their staff.

BVN change of name in Nigerian bank accounts. BVN issues are very common in today’s banking as it affects Nigeria in particular, the federal government of Nigeria had through the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, mandated all bank account holders to adopt and get registered on the BVN platform.

To transfer money from your Skye bank account to other accounts, follow the simple steps below:

Step 1. Dial *833#

Step 2. Choose “transfer” option.

Step 3. You are required to input the beneficiary’s Bank

Step 4. Insert the beneficiary’s account number. Send, the beneficiary’s name will be displayed for you to verify if you are actually sending to the right person. If the name could not be displayed you may however proceed if you are sure of the account number you are paying to, though on your own risk.

Step 5. Enter the transaction amount

Step 6. Enter your four digit PIN and send, you will receive a delivery message that your transfer to a particular bank user was successful. As simple as that, isn’t it?

Recall, you must have activated your account to use this service as directed in the beginning of this guide.

HOW MUCH YOU CAN TRANSFEER

On activation of your account for Skye bank transfer code, you can only transfer N50000.

For Skye flex Account: You have a daily threshold of N30000 which must be transferred in tranches of N3000 each.

For Skye ease Account: You have a daily threshold of N50000.

For Standard Savings Account:You as well have a threshold of N50000.

This is the Skye Bank’s Smart USSD banking solution.

Account opening, bill payments, transfers, hotlist card, BVN update, balance, Masterpass, Airtime Top up etc.

What Smart phones are supported?

All phone types are supported, provided they can carry out USSD session.

Do I need to have Skye Mobile to used *833# USSD Smart Banking?

No, you just need to have an active Skye bank account and an SMS enabled mobile phone.

I dialed the *833# code and selected a service and was asked to input my PIN, what PIN am I required to put here?

The USSD code is directly linked to the mobile application, as such the PIN on Skye mobile is required. In case there’s a challenge with the PIN please engage the Skye mobile support team for assistance.

Do I need to have airtime to use *833#?

GLO and MTN users need to have credit on their phone to use the service while Airtel and 9mobile do not need to have airtime to access it.

Will my airtime be charged for USSD transactions?

Yes, for MTN and GLO users only. 9mobile and Airtel users will not be charged. MTN and GLO users are charged N1 per 20 second which is N3 per minute.

What is my transaction limit when I use USSD?

Your daily limit on USSD is N50000, you do not need to visit any branch to increase your limit.

Are there charges if I use USSD code to carry out my transaction?

For account balance enquiry N10 per transaction, airtime purchase is free, card hotlist is free, in-tra bank transfer per transaction is N20, inter-bank transfer is N52.50 per transaction.

How many times can I use the USSD in a day?

As many times as possible so far you did not exceed the daily threshold of N50000

Do I need to have Data in my phone to use the USSD?

No, the USSD does not require Data.

Yes, you must be a Skye bank account holder.

*833# rides on SkyeMobile, so for customers that have SkyeMobile app on their phone, as many accounts linked to Skye mobile can be linked and used on *833#.
For customers who do not have Skye mobile app, they can only transact on one account.
How do I transact using my other accounts on *833#?

If you have linked your account on Skye mobile, you will be prompted to select the account you want to use for the payment you have selected after dialing *833#.

How can I add my other accounts on *833#?

For a SkyeMobile user, go to your SkyeMobile app, from the menu drop down select “add account” once this is added dial *833# and the customer will be prompted.
For non SkyMobile users account linking is currently not available on USSD channel.

How to get your tin number (Taxpayer Identification number) same day free of charge in Nigeria. By law, every citizen of Nigeria has an obligatory responsibility to pay and remit his/tax to the appropriate authorities. In developed countries, tax fraud/offense is being frown at immensely with prison able penalties.

However tax is a major source of government revenue as such the federal government of Nigeria haven’t watched with great dismay how taxes are being evaded by individuals and business owners took a step further to launch VAIDS which is Voluntary Access and Income Declaration Scheme. This program is aimed at granting amnesty to all and sundry and encourage everyone to declare their income, assets etc. for tax purposes, thus the need for tin number (Tax Identification number).

What is tin number?

Tin number (taxpayer identification number) is a unique number assigned to each tax payer, individual or companies by the federal government through Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to identify them as registered tax payers in Nigeria.

To avoid legal implications, companies tend to get their tin number (taxpayer identification number) after incorporation. Here’s all the details you need on how to apply and acquire your tin number for whatever purpose same day and it’s free of charge.

How to start the application process:

Go to any Federal Inland Revenue Service close to you and announce your intention to obtain tin number (tax identification number).

Types of tin number (taxpayer identification number):

1. Enterprise

2. Limited liability Company and

3. Individual or personal tin number

Enterprise and limited liability company tin number (taxpayer identification number) are strictly for business purposes while Individual tin number (taxpayer identification number) is for your personal income tax.

There are two major difference between Enterprise and Limited liability company tin number (taxpayer identification number)

1. There’s no assessment file being opened for enterprise application while you will need assessment file for limited liability type.

2.  The tin number (taxpayer identification number) for enterprise is eight digit number Example 14869725 while that of Limited Liability Company is twelve digit number Example 12546894-0001.

Requirements for application of tin number (taxpayer identification number):

1 Certificate of incorporation- This is certificate used or issued by the corporate affairs commission which permits the business to run as a registered and reorganized entity in Nigeria.

2. Memorandum and Articles of Association- Memorandum of association is document that sets up the company while Articles of association set out how the company is run, governed and owned.

3. Three letter head papers of the business which will contain the following information:

A . The first is called answer to questionnaire which contains: Incorporation date, commencement date, name of the company, business address of the company, email address etc.

B. Application for clearance certificate.

C. Application letter for tin number in Nigeria (taxpayer identification number).

4. Duly completed tin application form.

For individual: You will have to provide a duly completed application form for TIN. Then any of the following ID cards: International Passport, National ID Card, Staff Identity card or National Driver’s License.

How long does it take to get tin number (taxpayer identification number)?

Your tin number will be available same day, if all requirements are met and presented.

How much will I have to pay?

You are not expected to pay any money, it’s free of charge especially if you are running a new business, and however, after incorporation you have a grace period of six months to register for your tin.

If you are registering for an existing business older than six months, you may have to pay accrued charges as made provision for by the Act.

Where can I get tin number in Nigeria?

Visit any Federal Inland Revenue Service office close to you.

Example of a tin number in Nigeria/Nigerian tin number format;

14869725 – For Enterprise Company.

12546894-0001- For Limited Liability Company.

Tin number updating:[/b]This is the requirement for taxpayers with incomplete records at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), to complete their documentation. This can be done at the tax office where the tin was initially generated by providing a. Email address and b. phone number which after updating the system will indicate that the tin has been successfully updated.

[b]Tin number validation in Nigeria:[/b]This is the practice of confirming that the updated tin meets the standard condition for transacting business with other organizations like the Nigerian Custom Service (NCS), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NAFDAC etc.

Validation can be done directly at the FIRS trade portalwww.trade.gov.ng/firs by following the below procedures:

1 . Enter the tin number alongside the email address used in updating same, in the available spaces.

2. Enter the security word CAPTCHA systematically generated and click on validate.

3. If the validation is successful, you will see the following confirmation notice

“Register with NCS Done”.

4. An authentication email notification from “Nigeria Single Window” with a log in password and instruction on how to complete the registration process will be sent to the taxpayers email address.

5. On completion of the validating exercise, an email will be sent automatically to the email address provided confirming successful validation. You are hereby advised to check your email for the information.
