double0seven:
This should stop looking for some extraordinary meaning or reason where there is none. That Saraki brutally backstabed his party in the worst way possible. Even after that, all appeals for him to accept the nominees of the part for leadership positions in the Senate fell on deaf ears.

It is a fact that if Saraki had agreed to the nominess of his party, the party would have been consoled and found a wayto bury the hatchet.

So all this talk of someone being afraid of him 2019 is just errant nonsense. Saraki is the cause his own problems and deserves no pity.
wao....really? will i be right to say who ever agreed with APC terms and condition, even if you are thief or corrupt, your sins will be forgiven?
PoliticsCCT Trial: APC Members Tormenting Saraki – Senator Sani by DONSMITH123(op): 10:40am On Oct 26, 2015
The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has stated that Senate President Bukola Saraki’s trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal was fueled by those who see him as a threat in 2019.

Speaking with Leadership, the Senator said, “Saraki’s problem is being engineered, fanned, propelled, sponsored and sustained by forces that see him as a threat to them in 2019 or 2013.”

He said Saraki’s persecutors were all in the APC.

“Where else will they come from? It is just a matter of time the identity of those who are interested in Saraki’s case will become open. Right now, they are in the back shooting missiles, but it is just a question of time, light will cast on their faces and their activities will come to the open,” he said.

According to him, “the Saraki threat is not for this government, it is for what is coming ahead. So Saraki is a guinea pig of a conflict of ambition whereby if he wasn’t a senate president, he couldn’t have been in this spot light. And if he is not a threat in the future, he wouldn’t be passing through what he is passing through now.

“If Saraki is in contest with Buhari, I will support Buhari, but Buhari has never said Saraki is in contest with him. He has never told us that and with his philosophy of being for everybody and for nobody, it also exonerates him from the problem Saraki is facing today,” he added.

Three suicide bombers attacked a military check along Damboa road in Maiduguri, the Borno State on Saturday, killing four persons.

DAILY POST gathered that the attack, which occurred about 8 a.m, close to the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, office also left six persons injured.

The blasts was reportedly targeted at security operatives.

It was still not clear if any of the security operatives at the checkpoint was affected by the bomb blasts.

Speaking with some residents, they disclosed to DAILY POST that the victims had been evacuated by soldiers to the hospital.

According to them, two of the female suicide bombers were also killed, while the other one was still alive.

One of the residents “the soldiers saw the three bombers coming towards them; they suspected them, but while they were calling on them, the two ran towards the soldiers and detonated the explosives, while the other one escaped in the process.”

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Bombs Mosque In Maiduguri, 6 Killed by DONSMITH123(op): 12:43pm On Oct 23, 2015
Death toll in Maiduguri Mosque bombing rises to 28

At least 28 people were killed in a suicide bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri, northeast Nigeria, on Friday, raising fresh security concerns after a wave of similar attacks.

The attack happened shortly after 5:00 am (0400 GMT) in the Jidari area of the Borno state capital, which has previously been targeted by Boko Haram militants.

Maiduguri has now been hit six times this month, killing a total of 76 people, according to an AFP tally, underscoring an increased risk to civilians after similar strikes in neighbouring states and near the capital, Abuja.

Umar Sani, a civilian vigilante assisting the military in the counter-insurgency, and local resident Musa Sheriff both told AFP there were two blasts at the mosque.

“People from various mosques nearby rushed to the scene to assist the victims,” said Sani.

“I was involved in the evacuation. We counted 28 dead bodies apart from the two bombers, who were identifiable by the mutilation of their bodies.

“Over 20 other people were injured.”

Sheriff, who said he escaped with his life as he was late for prayers, gave a similar account.

Both men also said two other people were arrested and handed over to the military for questioning after they were seen apparently celebrating following the blasts.

The two men were “standing from afar, hugging each other like a celebration, chanting “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest)”, said Sani.

“The rescuers apprehended them. They used ropes to tie them and they confirmed that two of their comrades carried out the attacks. They were unrepentant,” he added.

“To them it was a mission accomplished,” said Sheriff.

– Security concerns –

Initial reports of the attack from Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said only six people were killed and 17 others injured.

Medical sources at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and Borno State Specialist Hospital later gave a lower toll of 19 dead.

There are frequently conflicting death tolls in the insurgency and official statements often downplay the number of casualties.

Nigeria’s military has claimed a series of successes against Boko Haram, recapturing territory seized by the militants last year, as well as the mass surrender of fighters.

Senior officers have characterised the increase in suicide bombings against “soft” targets as a sign of the group’s desperation.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has said the military is on track to meet a year-end deadline to bring the six-year insurgency to an end.

At least 17,000 people have been killed and more than 2.5 million made homeless by the violence, which has spread into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

But the latest bombings in Maiduguri will likely raise questions about how militants are able to carry out such attacks on a regular basis.

Friday’s attack fits into a grim pattern of targeting places of worship and crowded spots such as markets and bus stations using multiple bombers to maximise casualties.

On October 1, a wave of suicide and bomb attacks left 10 dead in the Ajilari Cross area of the city, which was hit again on October 13, killing four.

On October 15, two suicide bombers hit a mosque in Molai, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, killing 30.

The following day, three bombers also struck just before morning prayers in nearby Umarari. Four people were killed.

Last weekend, soldiers foiled a suspected suicide attack at the city’s main army base.

Boko Haram — using the name Islamic State West Africa Province — claimed responsibility for suicide bomb attacks near Abuja on October 2 that killed 18.

Five men appeared in court on Thursday in connection with the blasts.

PoliticsSaraki’s Travails Not Masterminded By APC – Gbajabiamila by DONSMITH123(op): 8:03am On Oct 23, 2015
By Levinus Nwabughiogu
ABUJA – Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila yesterday said that absolute peace and tranquility has returned to the National Assembly especially the House of Representatives.

He stated that members were now on the same page and were determined to enact people-orientated legislations for the country.

It will be recalled that the House was engulfed by leadership crisis arising from the selection of the presiding and principal officers after its inauguration in June.

Gbajabiamila who spoke to State House Correspondents after a private meeting with president Mohammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja however noted that current travails of the senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki, saying the woes do not have anything to do with All Progressives Congress, APC as a political party.

He dismissed the application of political solution to the matter, believing that the law would run its full cause.

He said: “This is just a routine visit to Mr. president; one arm of government visiting another arm. You know the important role of the House, I being in charge of government business in the House, we discussed the issue of budget and a few other House keeping matters to further cement the relationship between the House and the President.

“Everything that has a beginning has an end. I don’t think and I don’t know if there is any leadership crisis in the National Assembly. I’m not sure at what you’re alluding to; I’m not in the Senate. But the little I understand is that there is an issue involved with the Senate President. That has nothing to do with the APC.

“That has to do with the issue of law and I’m sure the Senate President is being surely represented and he will have his day in court. If the matter comes up, I don’t think it’s an APC issue; it’s not an APC issue at all. There is no crisis, not in the House.

“I can’t comment and promote things that are unsubstantiated. You know the problem is a constitutional legal problem and I don’t know how you can treat constitutional legal problem politically. If that be the case, perhaps I may not know.”

Gbajabiamila also submitted that the allocation of committees would not stir up controversy in the House.

“It would be handled by members of the House. The correct thing is that Justice is done, equity is done and once that is done, then there not going to be a problem.

“There’re are a 180 or 190 committee slots on the issues of the committees while their issue of deputies and chairmen while there 360 members. So, whichever way it falls out, the important thing is the fallout that is not based on equity, then there may be a problem”, he said.

The Majority also mulled support for the zero budgeting system of the federal government, stressing that there has to be justification for monies expended.

“Absolutely, we understand the logic. Unlike the envelop budget system, which had issues under the best circumstances. Zero budget where everything starts from scratch, they have to justify every penny. It’s part of the government efforts to block leakages and the House is in firm support.”

On the position of the House on President Buhari’s anti- corruption war, Gbajabiamila stated that every member of the National Assembly supports the fight against graft.

“God help any member of the NASS that is not disposed to it. This is the most critical cankerworm that is destroying the fabric of the society. Any member of the Senate or the House that is against that fight… So, in answer to your question, any member of the House that is disposed to that fight, and I believe all members are”, he said.

Leadership of the Senate is locked in another battle with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is as current holders of the majority leadership positions have been told to vacate office for soon-to-be announced replacements.

Indications emerged yesterday that the political solution being worked on by Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara is about to be implemented.

Dogara and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Senate met on Tuesday evening at the new wing of the Senate complex.

It was gathered that Saraki had been under pressure to speak to his allies in the Senate, including the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume; his deputy, Bala Ibn Na’allah and the deputy majority whip, Senator Francis Alimikhena, on the need to reconstitute the leadership in line with the party’s wish.

He reportedly made the communication earlier in the week but not without opposition.

However, the expected modification in the hierarchy has been generating different views at the chamber, with associates of those affected accusing Saraki of trying to use and dump them.

On his part, Ndume has said he would not step down, calling for those handling negotiations to come up with another resolution.

Nonetheless, Saraki may any moment from now, name Senator Ahmad Lawan, as the new Senate Leader.

DAILY POST learnt that Saraki, who has been trying to mend fences with the party leadership since his controversial emergence on June 9, has given his word to effect necessary change that would endear him to chieftains.

APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun had on June 24 written the Senate President and Speaker, Dogara, listing the names of proposed occupants of the leadership positions in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Names in the letter were Lawan as majority leader; Professor Sola Adeyeye as chief whip; George Akume as deputy majority leader and Abu Ibrahim as deputy chief whip.

After initial resistance, Dogara did the needful and the House seems to be at peace since then.

However, Saraki’s allies in the Senate named different persons.
