PoliticsCorruption:Forget Bible,Let African Leaders Swear By ‘Smaller Gods’–Pete Edochie by DONSMITH123(op): 3:45pm On Feb 21, 2017
Legendary actor, Pete Edochie, has said African leaders are full of deceit and as such, smaller gods should be used to swear them into office rather than the Bible.

The actor, who is currently in Ghana made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s former President, Jerry John Rawlings.

Edochie also noted that he does not only bear resemblance to Rawlings, but sees him as a brother.

The ace actor said, “State officials who swear with the Bible become more corrupt when they are in office.

“God forgives easily, so these officials do not take the oath serious whenever they hold the Bible to swear.

“But the smaller gods are not merciful like the Almighty God who created heaven and earth.

“They should swear with gods so that it will put fear in these corrupt leaders to distance themselves from corruption.”

Speaking further, the actor hinted he sees Ghana as his second home especially that he was born on the 7th of March, a day after the country marks its independence celebration.

He said, “I will be 70 on the 7th of next month and I see Ghana as my second home. I will try to come and commemorate the independence celebration here.

“Everywhere I go, people of Ghanaian origin say I remind them of Rawlings, to the extent my own daughters joined in the fray.

“I agree with people who saw we have the resemblance because I know how I look and seeing him here I have no doubt they are right. It appears we have a lot in common,” Edochie added.

North believed OBJ forced a sick Umar Yaradua on them to pave way for Jonathan forgetting OBJ wasn't responsible for his death. Jonathan completed that tenure and the north did not lose that tenure alone but Jonathan won the ticket in 2011.

Fast-forward to 2015, I believe Jagaban was responsible for re-packaging and marketing Bubu to Nigerians. Now Bubu is ill and obviously incapacitated. A repeat of 2010 is in the offing, again a SW is the architect. If he resigns, that would be the second time they're losing power.

So it's 2-0.

PoliticsBuhari Should Resign, Allow Osinbajo Become President – Opinion Nigeria by DONSMITH123(op): 10:26am On Feb 21, 2017
An international human rights organisation, Opinion Nigeria, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to tender his resignation to pave way for the confirmation of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) as President.

The ON premised its demand on health reasons and Buhari’s trip to the United Kingdom.

Its President, Jeff Okoroafor, in a petition to Buhari entitled: “A call for President Muhammad’s Buhari’s resignation without further ado”, said the response by Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, that Buhari was “on a short leave which is part of his annual vacation”, was the beginning of an unending tale.”

According to him, on February 7 2017, the Senate confirmed receipt of Buhari’s letter, informing the National Assembly about the resolve to extend his annual vacation in the United Kingdom.

He, however, said that going by the statement issued by Adesina, Buhari in the letter “was not categorical on the new date of his return.”

Okoroafor said this scenario had left the Vice President in an acting capacity “for too long”, especially at a time when the country was in dire need of affirmative actions to put things in the right perspective for the year.

He said, “Although there seem to be a general assumption that the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is acting in the place of the president as such no vacuum is created in the system. But, we are quite aware that there are so many pending issues on the desk of Mr. President that awaits his return.

“We cannot be operating in secrecy at the presidential level expecting the information hungry Nigerians to keep mute. We have the right to know what is happening and we are committed to a functional and operational Nigeria which is not halted for any political gains or satisfaction.

“Based on this, we call for the immediate resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari quoting his health as the reason to fully function as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, followed swiftly with the immediate confirmation of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a substantive President of the country.

“We hope that this petition will reach deserving authorities in good faith, understanding that the urgency of this request is born out of the desire to salvage the country from total collapse. We pray and urge that this letter will be treated without prejudice or sentiment from whatever sphere of reasoning”, it emphasised.

“As the days on vacation recede, Nigerians yearn insistently to know the circumstances surrounding the president’s seemingly emergency exit from the country. It is ponderous to put on record that this so-called all important vacation was coming at a point when the country’s economy was demanding the innovation or yet still budgetary intervention to ameliorate the sufferings of many Nigerians.

”The social media in Nigeria within these seven- over-ten day vacation was awashed with stories competing for public attention about the reason behind the trip. The stories expanded with time with the climax asserting the death of President Buhari over failure to respond to treatments from the medical team in some named hospital in the UK.

“The presidency so far has come up with conflicting versions of comments to diffuse the tension but their words further rambled the suspicion of most Nigerians who requested that the president relay a video to Nigerians assuring them that he was hale and hearty but, he never succumbed.

PoliticsPDP Crisis: Makarfi Group Heads To Supreme Court by DONSMITH123(op): 4:35pm On Feb 17, 2017
The Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has described the ruling of the Appeal Court on the leadership tussle rocking the party which favoured the Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction as a “disgrace to Nigerian democracy,” adding that it will appeal the judgement immediately at the Supreme Court.

The faction’s position was disclosed by its spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, while briefing journalists in Port-Harcourt immediately after the ruling.

He alleged that two out of the three Justices that delivered the judgement read a script written by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) neglecting to consider all the issues relevant to the case.

Adeyeye said: “We are disappointed with the Appeal Court Judgement. The lead judgement is very wrong. The issues were not considered. It is a disgrace not only to PDP but to Nigerian Democracy as a whole. It is a miscarriage of justice.

“Two out of the 3 man Justices of the Appeal Court gave a scanty judgment in favour of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff while one for Makarfi. The one that spoke in favour of Makarfi considered all the issues. She was thorough. In fact, it took the Justice three times the total time it took the other two Justices to deliver their judgement.

“The Judgment has finally shown that the ruling Party, the APC is out to create a one party state in the country.

“Certainly, we are proceeding immediately to the Supreme Court to file an appeal against the ruling of today’s appeal court judgment.”
