The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on Saturday listed top government officials who he alleged are infected with the noval coronavirus.

The IPOB leader made this shocking claims why reacting to the death of Nigeria Chief of staff Abba Kyria.

Kanu insist that Kyria died two weeks ago in Cuba while his body was cremated and buried today.

Ebonyitvnews recall that Kanu was the first to pronounce the death of Kyria two weeks ago.

Kanu also listed the Nigeria Chief of Army Staff, General Buratai, Vice president Yemi Osinbajo and Femi Adesina as carriers of COVID-19.

COVID-19: Gov. Umahi Grants Pardon, Freed 33 Prisoners In Ebonyi

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi has granted unconditional pardon to 33 convicts in his drive to decongest correctional centres in the state because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Cletus Ofoke, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, disclosed this on Friday while interacting with newsmen, noting that the convicts were drawn from the Abakaliki and Afikpo custodial centres.

Ofoke said that the governor was guided in the decision by his belief in God’s mercies and the recommendations of the state advisory council on prerogative of mercy.

“The 33 convicts were serving various jail terms at the custodial centres and the pardon is in line with Federal Government (FG) policy on correctional centres decongestion.

“The governor is determined to ensure that the disease does not enter the state as the world is grappling with the effects of the pandemic.

“He also believes that the idea of social distancing being preached in all the parts of the state might not be absolutely maintained in the custodial centres because of the way the inmates are kept,” he said.

The attorney-general said that the governor urged relatives and communities of the pardon persons to accept and wholly re-integrate them into their fold.

“We thank the governor for this gesture as this shows that he is truly an apostle of God.

“I also thank the state advisory council on prerogative of mercy which I head, for considering the merits of several applications submitted by various bodies for pardon of correctional centre inmates in the state,” he said.

Mrs Adaobi Oputa, Controller of Corrections, Ebonyi Command, while carrying out the governor’s directive at the Abakaliki custodial centre, thanked the governor for the gesture.

“The offences of the pardoned inmates include: stealing, burglary and minor assault among others as 20 of them are from Abakaliki and 13 from Afikpo custodial centres.

“This pardoned persons are from various local government areas of the state and the governor instructed that they sign affidavits to be of good conduct which we will deposit in court,” she said.

Oputa expressed optimism that the pardoned persons would benefit from the palliative measures earmarked by the government for citizens to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown.

“Most of them will have nothing to do presently and they will be grateful to the government if they are included in the palliatives’ beneficiaries to start a new life.

“We are going to send them to their communities with our little token and this pardon means that they are no longer ex-convicts.

“Anyone who treats them as ex-convicts can be sued in court because the pardon is a form of amnesty which implies that they never committed the offences,” she said.

Mr Peter Chinonso one of the pardon persons, thanked God and the governor for the gesture, noting that he passed his West African Examination Council (WAEC) from the Abakaliki custodial centre.

“I was convicted in 2017 for stealing when I was in Senior Secondary School (SS2) class and I will strive to continue with my education in order to become a lawyer,” he said. (NAN)

Report reaching Ebonyitvnews has it that Nigeria government are installing 5G technology network despite the lock down order.

Scores of youths in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State on Friday protested alleged laying of Cables suspected to be for the controversial 5G Technology Network in the community.

The protest reportedly lent credence to a statement credited to leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, alleging laying of 5G Technology Network Cables in the State while residents were compelled to observe stay-at-home over coronavirus pandemic.

A resident of the area, who preferred anonimity, said the youths had confronted the firm, warning the exercise would put their lives at risk.

He said the officials of the company whose identity could not be acertained as there was no inscription on their equipment, denied the allegation, claiming they were installing a 4G Technology Network Cable.

The Ebonyitvnews however learnt that the youths insisted they must stop work and leave the community for peace to reign.

Reacting, traditional Minister of the Community, Chief Ndubisi Osele, blamed the protest on misinformation.

“Some miscreants misinformed the youths in the community that 5G Technology Network is being installed in the community.

“What is being laid under ground is Fiber Cables not 5G Network, 5G Technology Network is a band placed on the Mast, it is not laid under the ground.

“We are having a meeting now to resolve the matter and I will like you to call me back in an hour’s time, so you can get the decision of the community.”

But the community leader did not get back to the reporter as at the time of filing this report.

UPDATED!!Civil Defense Shot Ebonyi Driver Dead  In Abia State Amidst Lockdown

Men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have murdered an Ebonyi taxi driver in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Abia state. Ebonyitvenews authoritatively reports.

The incident took place at Umuikaa, Isiala Ngwa South LGA axis of Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway . The deceased identify as Aroh Amaobi who is a commercial driver from Ishiagu in Ebonyi state droved to the junction to pick up some food stuffs goods when he accustomed the NSCDC officers who demanded N500 bribe before allowing him to pass their checkpoint.

Witnesses who spoke with Ebonyitvnews said that the refusal of Mr Amaobi to pay the bribe led to a heated argument between him and the officers.

“It was at the cause of the argument that one of the officers shot him in a close range,” one witness said while pleading for anonymity.

Another witness told Ebonyitvnews that Mr Amaobi “died instantly”.

The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Abia State Command, Ndukwe Aguiyi could not be reached for comments.

A credible source in Isiala Ngwa Division under whose jurisdiction the incident happened , said they had already contacted the Isiala Ngwa Division under whose jurisdiction the incident happened to furnish the Headquarter with information over the incident.

The source stated that the command had already set up an investigative committee on the matter, adding that the command doesn’t condone any act of indiscipline and unprofessional behavior among its personnel.

“The leadership of the command has continued to emphasize on professional conduct of its personnel and the need to guard their weapons jealously. The Command is not going to sweep this under the carpet.”

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ene Okon, in a chat, however, confirmed the NSCDC personnel is their custody.

Okon said that he has directed the NSCDC official be transferred to the SCID, Umuahia for proper investigation.

The police boss, who warned security personnel to be mindful the way they use guns entrusted in their care, said if after investigation the man was found culpable, police would arraign him for murder.

Mr Amaobi who hails from Amaokwe community in Ishiagu until his death has four little children.

Accept failure, give Nigerians money, food – PDP replies Buhari presidency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has berated the presidency for throwing tantrums at Nigerians for complaining about President Muhammadu Buhari’s failure to provide palliatives to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country.

The party said rather than listening to Nigerians, shed its corruption and take urgent steps to address the issue of panacea being raised by poor masses whose means of livelihood have been crippled by the restriction order, the Buhari Presidency chose to spew vituperations against the PDP just to divert public attention from its failure.

The party urged Buhari to immediately ensure cash and food items get to Nigerians to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement Tuesday night, said what Nigerians expected was for the president to accept his lapses and immediately take steps to address the issue of palliatives.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all that the PDP has done, even before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country, is to counsel the Buhari Presidency like other Nigerians, on how to safeguard our nation from the pandemic, most of which were largely ignored.

“From the moment that the index case was established, our party had continued to advise Mr. President on how to manage the situation. The PDP had also consistently requested of Mr. President to provide an economic palliative that will help the country manage the fall out of the pandemic.

“All that our party had done had been in the best interest of Nigerians and the good governance of our nation. We believe that this is the duty which PDP owes Nigerians at this critical time.

“The PDP therefore urges the Buhari Presidency to desist from this attempt to politicize the COVID-19 effort and take urgent steps to address the concerns being expressed by our party and majority of Nigerians in the overall determination to check the spread of the pandemic in our country.”

BREAKING! Abia state Coronavirus Index Case Turns Negative

The Abia state leader of the Committee on COVID-19 Dr Solomon Ogunji on tuesday said that the female suspected coronavirus index case from Ubakala has tested negative to the infection.

Ogunji, who is the Commissioner for Environment in Abia , while briefing Ebonyitvnews stated "the ministry’s attention was drawn to a suspected case of Coronavirus at Ubakala, We took up the case, transferred the patient to the Ebonyi state isolation unit at Abakaliki which is our nearest specialised infectious disease hospital.
“His blood samples were taken to the Virology laboratory for analysis and it came out negative,” the Commissioner said.

Ogunji reassure Abians that government vigilance levels are high and they are putting more measures in place to safe guard the State.

The younger sibling of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Pioneer of the Indigenous Individuals of Biafra (IPOB), Emmanuel Kanu, has declared that actualising a free Biafra this time would not need or require battling another common war.

Speaking yesterday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, while responding to the chieftaincy title of Ihe Africa (Light of Africa) conferred to his brother (Nnamdi) on Thursday at Amakwo in Orsu Board of Imo State by a gathering of traditional rulers in the state, Emmanuel, who got the title for the benefit of Nnamdi, stated: "The battle for Biafra is a peaceful development that has increased worldwide force; henceforth we don't have to battle again to have Biafra."

He depicted the respect gave on Nnamdi by the monarchs as deserved encouragement for his struggle and called on all and sundry, especially skeptics, to join Biafra exponents in the struggle.

Comfort Melaye, the mother of the lawmaker representing Kogi West senatorial district, Senator Dino Melaye, is dead.


The lawmaker announced the death of his mother on Twitter on Thursday night.

Melaye did not, however, give details of the death.


He wrote, “With total submission to the will of the Almighty God, I on behalf of the Melaye’s announce the passing into Glory of our beloved mother.

“Deconess Comfort Melaye. We thank God for Godly life she lived. I love you my mother and Friend. We shall surely meet again.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, asked its members and people of the Benue, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kogi and Kaduna States, to sit at home on May 30.


IPOB explained that the order was in protest over killings by Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram activities in the affected states.

The annual sit-at-home order is a move by the proscribed IPOB aimed at pushing for the actualisation of the sovereign state of Biafra across the South-East. It is expecting that Igbo and those sympathetic to the struggle for Biafra on May 30 stay indoors.


In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the secessionist group stated that there would be no vehicular movement both in South East and the Middle Belt region of the country on May 30.

The statement reads: “IPOB explained that We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) consider it imperative to use this great opportunity provided by the Most High God to announce the sit at home order throughout Biafraland and Nigeria in remembrance of our fallen heroes and heroines whose sacrifice made it possible for this generation to be alive today.

“We shall also remember all victims of Fulani herdsmen attacks, Boko Haram violence and those that died at the hands of Nigerian security agencies over the years that nobody remembers.


“We are calling on all the people of Southern Kaduna, Middle Belt especially Benue, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kogi, those affected by herdsmen terrorism in Ondo, Osun and other states in Yorubaland to join the great family of IPOB in observing a day of solemn prayer and sit at home to remember those that lost their lives unlawfully at the hands of Fulani terrorist herdsmen and security agencies even during the recently concluded fraudulent 2019 general elections.

“This year’s remembrance and Sit-At-Home order will be special because it will present a unique moment of shared pains and misery for all the families that lost their loved ones to war, hunger, starvation, disease, terrorism and state-sponsored killings going on now in the contraption called Nigeria.

“We remember the heroic few that stood up against tyranny especially those that sacrificed their lives to defend the defenceless and those that lost their lives because there was no one to defend them.



“There will be no human, vehicular or animal movement across Biafraland on the 30th May 2019. Biafraland will be in total lock down. Middle Belt and Yorubaland brethren are advised to join this historic sit at home order to honour the memory of all that died unjustly in Nigeria.

“Churches, Mosques, Synagogues and Temples are encouraged to open their places of worship on the midnight of the 29th of May for special midnight prayers in remembrance of all that died as a result of violence and sponsored killings. Special vigil will be held at the homes of select Biafran heroes and heroines who were murdered in cold blood in Biafraland.

“30th of May is now an annual remembrance event initiated by IPOB worldwide to honour our fallen Biafran soldiers without whom this generation of Biafrans would not have existed. We owe our heroes and heroines of the class of 67-70 an incalculable debt of gratitude and shall honor them annually until the end of time. We shall never forget them as long as this world exist.



“In our usual tradition, all IPOB families in the diaspora must rally on the streets of their respective countries with written petitions ready to be submitted to the nearest United Nation offices and embassies of foreign missions in that country.

“As our freedom draws near this year, our 30th of May sit-at-home and total lockdown of Biafraland will be remarkable. Another Popular Nollywood actor, Prince Dammy Eke is reportedly dead. IGBERE Tv can now report.

The actor reportedly slumped on Sunday and was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Eke was remembered for playing prominent roles in movies that promote cultural values from the eastern part of the country.

Eke was reportedly sharing drinks with friends at a bar in Port Harcourt, when the sad event happened.


The cause of death had yet to be confirmed as at press time.



The last post on his Instagram was as at 11pm was 16 hours ago when he wished his daughter a happy birthday.

In that post, Eke said “Happy cake day y daughter.. May Gods continuance continue to abide with thee, greatness is all I see.”

On his Instagram page, fans have mourned his demise.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that doctored results imposed against the will of the people will be resisted in the just concluded elections.He masde this known on a micro-blogging site, Twitter on Sunday night.

Kanu also expressed disappointment over the “disturbing reports from Rivers, Imo and Abia governorship elections”.

The outspoken leader Nnamdi Kanu made this statement a few hours after INEC suspended all elections in Rivers state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has suspended all elections in Rivers State, south-south Nigeria, “until further notice”.

EBONYI DAILY NEWS reports that the Commission made this known in a statement issued on Sunday afternoon by Festus Okoye, INEC Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

Okoye based the commission’s decision of “widespread disruption of elections” in the governorship and state house of assembly elections held on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

EBONYI DAILY NEWS understands that the development came following a meeting of the Commission which held on Sunday.

Reacting, Kanu warned that any government formed on the basis of a fraudulent result will bring anarchy

The secessionist leader stressed that “cancellation is the only solution”.

“With disturbing reports from Rivers, Imo & Abia governorship elections, we warn INEC that doctored results imposed against the will of the people will be resisted.

A correspondent of the EBONYI DAILY NEWS who monitored the election in Ivo Local Government,Ishiagu reports that there was heavy presence of security operatives in all the polling units visited.


Polling officials and election materials had arrived early in all polling units while accreditation and voting started on schedule in all the polling units visited.

The turnout of voters, however, was low in Ngwogwo Ward, polling units 006 located in Ishiagu general hospital as a results of thuggery activities.


EBONYI DAILY NEWS reports that APC thugs loyal to Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, the governorship candidate had earlier wreck havoc in PU-OO6.

The thugs EBONYI DAILY NEWS reports in desperation to disrupt elections in the zone attacked PDP supporters with bottles and stones sending voters to run for safety.
