Suspected political thugs on Saturday morning attacked an Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi state.

The Registration Area Center (RAC) in Umuoghara was attacked by the unidentified hoodlums around 2 am.

The fire, EBONYI DAILY NEWS gathered, destroyed sensitive and non sensitive materials to be used for today’s governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

The hoodlums also burnt down Community Secondary School Okposi Umuoghara in the area.

Police Spokesman in the state, Loveth Odah and the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Prof Godswill Obioma confirmed the attack.

” I got a call from the area that the RAC was under attack just few minutes ago. I am rushing back to command to ramp up response to the situation”. Odah said.

Disturbing report reaching EBONYI DAILY NEWS alleged that some APC party agents in Ivo local government Area of Ebonyi state are currently sharing five thousand naira (N5000) to lure voters to vote for their Gubernatorial candidate Sen Sonni Ogbuoji.

Few hours to the governorship and State Assembly elections, the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on Friday redeployed Abia state Commissioner of Police Mr Etim Ene Okon


Adamu dispatched Charles Awotinde as a replacement for Mr Etim Ene Okon, specifically as Command CP for purposes of the election.

IGBERE TV understands that Charlse Awotinde before his redeployment is the CP in Ebonyi state.

IGBERE TV gathered that the changes is inline with the directives of the Acting I.G who had on Wednesday deployed seven Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) to the six geo-political zones across the country.

Adamu also deployed 10 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) to the police zonal commands and additional Two Hundred and Seventy Seven Commissioners of Police to complement the efforts of the respective Commissioners of Police in the thirty-six State Commands and the FCT.

Meanwhile, the IGP assures that just as in the recently concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Nigeria Police Force shall remain civil, firm, optimally professional and apolitical in the discharge of our duties in the 9th March, 2019 elections”.

Gunmen suspected to be hired assasins have shot Nnamdi Nsorom who is an aid to the Imo state Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Imo west senatorial candidate Jones Onyereri. IGBERE TV authoritaively report.

Source closed to Nsorom who spoke with IGBERE TV correspondence says he was shot at the front of Jones Onyereri’s house behind concord Hotel in Owerri, Imo state.

BREAKING!!! A'Ibom State Council of Chiefs Endorses Udom for 2nd Term, Disowns Ekere (Photos)

As political activities gather momentum ahead of 2019 Gubernatorial and state Assembly elections on Saturday, the traditional councils­ of chiefs of  Akwa Ibom have unanimously endorsed and vowed to return Governor Udom Emmanuel. IGBERE TV reports.

This was made known in a communique issued by Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs which were forwarded to IGBERE TV correspondent on Wednesday.

The meeting IGBERE TV gathered was presided over by the HRM Edidem Apostle (Dr.) Ntoeng Udo Effiong Akpan, JP, Amb. P., POP, Paramount Ruler of Ini Local Government Area and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs as ably represented by the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, HRM Edidem Udo Joe Ntuk Obom Xll, was attended by Paramount Rulers, Clan Heads, Village Heads and other Traditional Rulers of Akwa Ibom State.

The conclave after exhaustive deliberations on the current political situations in Akwa Ibom State and the need for peaceful electoral process in Akwa Ibom State resolved as follows;



1‎. The meeting having reviewed the historical perspective of Akwa Ibom State and the need for justice, fairness, oneness, unity, and equity, affirmed the rotational principle in the political governance of Akwa Ibom State.

2. Accordingly, the Council affirmed that since Akwa Ibom North East and Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial Districts had taken their turns respectively to produce Governors of Akwa Ibom State from 1999-2007 and 2007 – 2015, with each of the occupants having eight ( years of two tenures each, same principle should apply to the current incumbent who is from Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.



3. In this wise, the conclave affirmed total support for Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel the current Governor to serve for two terms of eight ( years and after which political power will shift to Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district in 2023 in line with the unity accord in Akwa Ibom State.

4. The Council emphasized that justice and fairness remains cardinal ingredients for unity and development to prevail and as such politics or personal ambition should not be taken to the extreme or allowed to distort the well-established unity accord in Akwa Ibom State.



5. The council call on the Akwa Ibom State electorate to go out en-mass to participate in the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly Elections on Saturday, March 09, 2019

6. The Meeting urged the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), to ensure free, fair, credible, transparent and acceptable elections. It also advised the Police, Army and other security agencies to ensure impartiality in their security support and coverage of the elections.

7. The Council admonished all Akwa Ibom people to maintain peace and order and directed all traditional rulers to take the message of peace as proclaimed by the conclave to their clans, villages, hamlets and domains.

TEARS!!! See Obituary Of Slay Queen Stabbed To Death During Morning Exercise In Anambra

The funeral of 28-year-old Miss Oluchukwu Ezeobi who was stabbed to death by unknown assailants during her usual morning early morning exercise in Awka, the Anambra state capital in the early hours of Tuesday, February 12, has been announced.


She was stabbed several times when two boys accosted and ordered her to hand over her handset to them but she resisted. She was abandoned and left to struggle in the pool of her blood; while the assailants dispossessed her of her handset and ran away.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the state, SP Haruna Mohammed, said the Command are conducting a discreet investigation into the incident with a view to apprehend perpetrators and bring them to justice.

She will be laid to rest in her hometown Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on March 13.

Their has been sporadic shooting around Federal Polytechnic Oko campus in Anambra, which has led to the death of one and a gun injury to another, making students run helter skelter for safety as the shooting continued unabated.IGBERE TV authoritatively report.


The incidence IGBERE TV report happened around FCMB Bank, close to the popular Tipper Road, witnessed some gun wielding men, who alighted from a motor bike shooting all round, sending students crowded along the bank's ATM running for safety, including those walking along the ever busy road, which traverse the two major gates of the institution.


IGBERE TV understands that when the shooting subsided, a tricycle rider, popularly called keke was shot dead at close range, as the bullet tore through his forehead, while another, a male was shot in the neck as he was rushed to an unknown hospital by students.

The real reason behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained by IGBERE TV correspondent present at the scene of the crime. Students attributed the attack as the handiwork of cultist, others to robbery which now seem 'normal' in Oko without any proactive measure to curtail it while other unconfirmed report said it was hired assassination.


IGBERE TV gathered that the sporadic shooting has been witnessed for two days now, as that of yesterday took place at the popular total filling station, which sent market women, Okada riders and others running for safety.

Nigerian billionaire whose name has been given as Chief Ade Azikiwe decided to bury his girlfriend with an expensive Hummer SUV instead of the usual casket when she died after a short illness last week.



According to reports, the billionaire promised to give the hummer to the girlfriend when she was sick—sort of trying to encourage her to get well. And when she died, he decided to honour his promise to her by by ensuring that she went underground in the fully loaded hummer.

Okereke was the special orderly to Effiong till the end of the Nigeria-Biafra war. In December 2018, Professor Okereke officially presented his new book: “The General’s orderly.” The book, an autobiography of a Biafran child-soldier, which he was then, made several revelations of many events that featured in the 30-month hostilities which other authors on the war failed to exploit.

The deceased, a Professor of Construction Technology and Management graduated from the Higher Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Reacting to his demise, a veteran journalist and kinsman to the late Professor Okereke, Dr. Jasper Okoro, described him as a patriot who desired and worked relentlessly to uplift the lives of youths of his community academically and economically.

Younger brother to the renowned scholar, who confirmed the news of the death, Professor Oyari Okereke of the Abia State University, Uturu, described the departure of the academic giant as a shock, not only to the family but to the entire academic community and Afikpo, his home community in Ebonyi State and the Nigerian community at large.

A woman has revealed her sorrow after claiming to have been turned to a sex slave by an evil spirit who sleeps with her every night.

The 44-year-old woman identified as Anikie Meaner who hails from Ramotse in Hammanskraal, north of Tshwane, South Africa, said every morning she wakes up with wet panties and aching private part.

“A native doctor told me a spirit has been having sex with me. “She gave me some medicine and it chased away the spirit for many years, but it came back.”

Anikie said the problem put a strain on her marriage. She said when the
spirit was away she and her husband used to enjoy sex, but she no longer enjoys having sex with him.

“Now he thinks I’m sleeping with other men.”

She said she tried to tell him a spirit was responsible, but he does not believe her. She said she’s too tired to do anything after the spirit sleeps with her.

“It’s destroying my livelihood. I can’t work. All I want to do is sleep.”

The entire community of Ishiagu, in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state were on Thursday thrown into mourning over a terible accident which claims the life of its community leader, leaving two others in a very bad state.

The accident EBONYI DAILY NEWS reports happened few meters to the residence of Ebonyi state governor Dave Umahi in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.

Those Involved in the car which had the accident is the newly elected president of Ishiagu Community Development Union (ICDU) and two other notable people. The ICDU president is said to be in a very critical state with one others, while the remaining person was said to have died instantly.

According to source closed to the victims who spoke in confidence with EBONYI DAILY NEWS correspondents says the ICDU President and his two members were visting the Governor who returned home for him to intereven in a Mining company (Crushed Rock Industries Nigeria Limited Ishiagu) which had since refused to pay them their entitlements runing to milions for the past one year.

The accident was said to have caused a scene in the area as other motorists and road users lamented the tragic incident.

Hon. Dr Michael Enyong, the member representing Uyo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has been accused of belonging the confraternity (Egede), after he was pictured greeting a colleague in the cult’s manner.

As congratulatory messages poured in for President Muhammadu Buhari over his re-election, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has kept dis quietly mum.

Telephone calls made to Obasanjo’s Media Aide, Mr Kehinde Akinyemi, by the correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) were not picked while text messages sent to him for Obasanjo’s reaction were neither acknowledged nor replied.

Obasanjo slumped into ‘quiet mode’ since February 23, after voting in Abeokuta and advising winners in the election to show magnanimity in victory, saying losers should also accept defeat.

“In any competition, there will always be winners and losers. That is what anybody in any competition must be prepared for as a good sportsman.

Whoever that wins should show magnanimity. If I lose, I will also bow down graciously. That is what any competition is all about.

“If your purpose of going for any competition is that you must win at all costs, then that is no longer a competition. I know INEC will make amends for the shortcomings ahead of the next elections.”

After failing to deliver his polling unit in Abeokuta to Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party that he staked so much upon, including risking God’s wrath, Obasanjo has not been since in public.

He had hoped his endorsement would enable Atiku defeat Buhari.

He also tried to create a third force and a coalition of groups to dethrone Buhari, but none showed any promise until he embraced Atiku.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, in the early hours of Wednesday declared Buhari winner of the Saturday’s presidential polls. He polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat Atiku, his closest rival who scored 11,262,978 votes.


Prominent and well-meaning Nigerians as well as international leaders have since been congratulating Buhari over his victory in the election, widely adjudged as peaceful and credible.

But former President Obasanjo, who believes he could swing election to any aspirant has noticeably kept off the public radar, holed in his expansive home on the hilltop in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital.

Obasanjo, was quite vocal in the build-up to the election and campaigned against Buhari’s re-election with a series of caustic and malicious letters.

Then in an amazing and absurd turn, he endorsed Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP, whom he had once accused and condemned over corruption claims.

He had told Nigerians that God would not forgive him (Obasanjo) if he ever supported Atiku to be president.

But for all Obasanjo’s vitriol against Buhari, the presidency repeatedly asked Nigerians to ignore Obasanjo, saying Buhari’s performance in office would earn him re-election.

Imo State elder statesmen from Orlu and Owerri zones yesterday denounced the alleged impunity unleashed by their kinsman and Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, even as they disowned his victory.

The elders made the disclosure at a consultation meeting between Orlu and Owerri elders ahead the governorship election in the state.

Chairman of the council, Prof. Francis Dike, apologized for the alleged conduct of Governor Okorocha last Saturday, wherein the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Innocent Ibeawuchi was allegedly manhandled for being firm and upholding integrity.

Prof Dike said “We apologize to Imo people and Nigerians for what happened last Saturday. As illustrious and dignified as we are, we were last Saturday shocked to see Orlu being projected on national television as an enclave of impunity and lawlessness. And that is not who we are.

“What happened at the Imo West senatorial district collation centre will never be allowed to happen again. We however commend the Returning Officer, Professor Innocent Ibeawuchi, for being firm and walking the path of honour and integrity. Imo is proud of such a son.”

Further, he called on Imo people and residents to troop out en-masse on March 9th, 2019 to cast their votes and also ensure it counts, in spite of what may have transpired in the last election.

A former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa in his remarks commended the decision of Orlu Elders, saying it is “a critical and bold step in the right direction”.

Further, Udenwa said “We are stakeholders and leaders in this state and we are not happy with the way this state has become a theatre for bad news. We have discussed and have decided to come together to help arrest the situation and recover our state.”

What Governor Okorocha did last Saturday in the 12 local government areas that constituted Orlu Senatorial zone was an absurd and a disgrace to the nation’s democratic process” he said.

The leader of the banned Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has called on people from the East, West and Middle-belt to join the group.


Nnamdi Kanu made the call on Tuesday during a live broadcast on Radio Biafra London which was monitored by
EBONYI DAILY NEWS correspondent in a reaction to the presidential and National Assembly elections.


According to the pro-Biafra leader, the votes did not count during the election and thus people from the South and middle-belt must join the Biafran struggle.

In addition, he alleged that Nigeria’s present composition is unworkable and thus a separation of the country is the only way out of the struggle.

President Muhammadu Buhari was on Wednesday declared the winner of the 2019 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec).

Buhari beat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge winner of the election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has rejected the outcome of the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

It also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the results.

Eze Nwachukwu made the party’s position known at a post-election press conference held at the party’s secretariat on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

Mr Nwachukwu alleged widespread irregularities including underaged voting, multiple thumb printing of ballot papers, intimidation, harassment, the arrest of APC polling units agents as well as orchestrated violence against party members and supporters.

He alleged that Smart Card Readers (SCR) were not used for accreditation and voting in line with the election guidelines in most polling centres.

“Our position is that the election of Saturday, February 23 is rape on our democracy. Ebonyians witnessed what has never been seen in any election before now.

“Security operatives who were sent to provide election security in the state, on arrival took sides by allowing themselves to be accommodated in a private hotel.

“All the police personnel except the Adamawa commissioner of Police were lodged in this hotel, and this was where the compromise started.

“We had informed the police, INEC and Civil Society groups before the elections through our petitions of plots by some persons to buy votes and to create violence in parts of the state and this played out in the election.

“There is no local government area in Ebonyi that the election was not marred by violence; and the violence was in degrees including ballot boxes snatching, burning of buildings, election materials and killings among others.

“The card reader was not used for the election in several polling units, and we are calling for an audit of the elections in addition to our call for the outright cancellation of the entire exercise.

“Let the card readers be made available and let the result sheets be marched polling unit by polling unit, it is an exercise that can be achieved in a day,” Nwachukwu said.

He alleged that the senatorial and House of Representatives elections results for Ebonyi Central and Ezza South and Ikwo Federal constituency collation was moved to INEC state headquarters against the provision of the electoral law.

“We reject the results of the entire elections due to non-substantial compliance with the INEC guideline and electorate law and vote buying, intimidation of party agents and widespread violence.

“We call on Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC’s chairman to remove Prof. Godswill Obioma, the Ebonyi Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for incompetence and compromise.

“We also call on all our supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.”

Meanwhile, Lovett Odah, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), reacting to the allegation said that the command had not received a report of involvement of its personnel deployed for election duty in malpractices.

Meanwhile, Mr Obioma could not be reached for comments as he travelled to Abuja with the state presidential election returning officer, Frank Chukwuemeka, to submit Ebonyi result.state party agents of APC, PDP and others signed the final presidential result sheet at the state collation centre, INEC headquarters in Abakaliki on February 25.

The Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL has called on Igbos in Lagos State to wage war against Yoruba leaders over violence during the presidential elections in the state.

The Biafra group condemning the attacks against Igbos in Lagos, called on leaders to calm the situation in Lagos to avoid war in the state.

This was made known through a statement signed and sent to EBONYI DAILY NEWS through the National Leader of BNYL, Princewill C Richard.

The group further urged the Igbo population in Lagos to wage a fight back on the APC supporters of Yorubas if they refused to calm violence in the state.

The statement read in part: “I think it is foolish of Southerners to fight and die for two northern brothers; the Western Leaders should calm the situation in if they don’t want war in Lagos.

“Igbos and other tribes from the east should wage a fight back if the attacks continue.

“No tribe can push the Igbo away from areas they have occupy and developed.”

Report reaching IGBERE TV alleged that an independent online media outlet in Nigeria has reported that its journalist who is a founder and publisher at Ebonyidailynews.com Mr Chukwu Solomon was attacked on Sunday by some suspected thugs over a publications where he reported that under aged children was allowed to vote by the INEC Electoral officers in some part of Ebonyi state in the Saturday presidential and National Assembly elections. (A report which was supported by verifiable photos and video).


The men numbering about five drove their car with a restricted plate number to the residence of the reporter in Ebonyi and gave him a severe beating after questioning him over a story which was published on his online media platform which had since gone viral.
Mr Chukwu Solomon After Attacked By Thugs

According to Mr Chukwu Solomon, he was severely beaten in the presence of his wife and two Children who watched helplessly and his media gadgets including laptop smashed on the ground while his phone containing some sensitive information confiscated.

But for the timely intervention of some neighbors who were tipped off, the reporter’s ordeal and fate could have been terrible.

2019: Results From Presidential Election May Take Up To 21days Before Final Announcement-Blogger

The 2019 presidential elections in Nigeria will be the country’s sixth since 1999, when it shifted to democracy after a long period of military rule. Most of these elections have been tarnished by acts of violence including attacks on politicians and vote rigging often influences the results.

The sum of all these challenges is that Nigeria is far from ready to hold a credible ballot in the Saturday rescheduled presidential election.

In order to conduct a credible election in Nigeria, four key issues are very important. First, the government needs to completely defeat Boko Haram. Second, the conflict between herdsmen and farmers must be addressed and third, electoral commission must strengthen the electronic voting system introduced in 2015 and finally the formation of insurgent groups for the purpose of the election must be prevented.
It is very regrettable that BokoHaram and Herdsmen are the major problems facing threat to Saturday poll.Election results from the troubled state may not likely be collated hence INEC will seek for a multiple rerun thereby delaying the final outcome of the presidential results.It is likely going to take a maximum of 21days after Saturday poll before declaring who ever that emerge victorious as winner.

An election that is not free and fair risks negatively compromising Nigeria’s already fragile economy, and sparking further conflict.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has said the postponed presidential election for Saturday may not hold.

The IPOB Leader said this on Wednesday night in a live broadcast monitored by EBONYI DAILY NEWS.

Describing election as ‘sham’, Kanu said Saturday polls may not hold because ‘Jubril of Sudan’ will be chased out of Nigeria.

Kanu lamenting about killings of Igbos spearheaded by some South east governors, further revealed that he is coming back to Nigeria soon.

He said: “There’s no government in the world that doesn’t know about IPOB and fortunately I met most of them, we don’t publish all on social media.

“All these saboteurs you see online don’t exist. Check their profile and you’ll understand they’re fake. Just ignore them.

“I’m coming to Nigeria, in power and glory. I’m coming fully prepared, whatever Nigerian government wants, we will do it there.

“We called for boycott of the Zoo. Nigeria was vibrating, we called it off they ran astray. That’s how powerful IPOB is.

“No amount of intimidation, arrest, killings will stop us from marching.

“Im not sure that their Sham election will hold on Saturday 23rd Feb; because Jubril will be chased back to Sudan, then you will know that Buhari is dead.

“There is no way Jubril can survive an election in this zoo.”

Further lamenting on Killings of IPOB members, Kanu called out Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, blaming him for orchestrating the genocide.

“As I am speaking now, IPOB members are being parked and taken to DSS custody in Abuja, masterminded by Obiano and others.

“Now that Obiano, Okezie Ikpeazu and other Igbo governors are hunting down and killing IPOB members, everyone is keeping quite.
But any day we decide to retaliate, everyone will start talking rubbish.”

Anyim Pius Anyim (born 19 February 1961) is a Nigerian politician who served as the President of Nigerian senate and was the immediate-past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He was elected as national Senator on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform in 1999 for the Ebonyi South constituency of Ebonyi State. He was appointed Senate President in August 2000.

Anyim hails from the ancestral land home of Ishiagu in the Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He attended Ishiagu High School (St. John Bosco), the Federal School of Arts and Science, Aba and later, Imo State University, Uturu (1983–1987). For his Youth Service he served as the Co-ordinator, Youth Mobilisation Programme in Sokoto State. In 1992, Anyim became the Head of Protection Department at the National Commission for Refugees, Abuja, a job that included provision of legal services and political protection for refugees. In this capacity he traveled to various parts of the world.

In 1998 he joined the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP), winning a Senate election. However the death of General Sani Abacha on 8 June 1998 nullified the result. During the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar he joined the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and again ran successfully for election to the Senate in 1999.

Anyim took office in the Senate in May 1999, and was appointed President of the Senate in August 2000, after Chuba Okadigbo had been impeached, holding office until May 2003

In May 2001, Anyim declared that the upper legislative house was justified in probing the activities of the Mines and Power Ministry during the tenure of Chief Bola Ige. In June 2002, an attempt led by Anyim to impeach President Olusegun Obasanjo collapsed.Speaking a year later, Anyim said President Olusegun Obasanjo misunderstood him on certain issues but there was no conflict between them. In August 2002 he said he was opposed to all the present office holders - including himself - going for a second term.

In November 2002 Anyim indefinitely suspended Senator Arthur Nzeribe of Imo State due to an allegation of a N22 million fraud. Nzeribe was said to be planning an impeachment motion against Anyim.The same month, after Anyim had complained about the Independent Corruption Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Senate set up a committee to examine the continued relevance of the commission.In May 2003, Anyim warned an Abuja High Court judge, Justice Egbo Egbo, that the parliament had the power to order his arrest over his opposition to the passage of the anti-graft ICPC law by the Senate.

Anyim did not seek reelection in 2003, knowing fully well that under Obasanjo's watch, he would lose and lose his deposit in the process. Therefore, instead of contesting, he mobilised resources for ANPP candidates in Ebonyi State to challenge his own party. Some time after leaving office, his private house in Abuja was partially pulled down for violating the Abuja master plan. As a Senate President, Senator Anyim fought the sitting Governor of Ebonyi State, Samuel Ominyi Egwu, to a stand still and Anyim's village boiled. The conflict between the duo was so primitive that on a particularly low point, Anyim's mock coffin was paraded around Abakaliki, the state capital. Now as SGF, there is a palpable uneasy relationship between Anyim and the incumbent Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi. Anyim's village is boiling, with several indigenes on exile. He has been appointed by the Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to head the Centenary celebration of the proclamation of Nigeria as a nation by colonial Britain.

Anyim was a candidate in the elections for Chairmanship of the PDP in January 2008. In November 2007 the chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the PDP said he would receive the votes of the entire Kaduna State delegation to the convention.In January 2008 the League of Patriotic Lawyers supported his candidature. He also gained support from the Peoples Democratic Party Youth Forum.However, in the end Prince Vincent Ogbulafor was appointed PDP chairman.

In January 2010 he led a delegation of 41 eminent Nigerians that called on President Umaru Yar'Adua to urgently transmit a letter of his incapacitation to the National Assembly to salvage the nation's democracy from danger.He praised the Senate when they passed a resolution on 9 February 2010 to make Vice President Goodluck Jonathan Acting President. In May 2011, Pius Anyim was appointed as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
