The Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency projects seems to be an avenue where public funds are being looted without mercy.

The most worrisome in the EB-CSDA scheme is the fact that Ebonyi government both the past and the present have failed to critically looked at how the funds disbursed for community projects are being handled after awarding projects.

Ebonyi Tv correspondents who made a tour to Ishiagu community in Ivo local government Area of the state discovered that a 10million naira project that was awarded for construction of community health centre and borehole is now in a state of despair.

An Impeccable source who spoke with Ebonyi Tv but pleads for anonymity alleged that the state government do not care about rural projects in the community.

“Since they built this things here, it had never function even for one day. This is a total waste of money and mismanagement of public funds”, The source stated.

Ebonyitv understands that Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency came into existence on Wednesday, 25th February, 2009 through an Act (Law No. 004) of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly. Recently the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have being speaking tough in his broadcast.He recently boasted that Biafra is just a few months away from now.

In his latest broadcast on Wednesday he repeated the same message, insisting that Biafra is just a few months to come.

Nnamdi Kanu however posted a photo where he was standing beside a heavily armored tank. He released the photo just few hours after Nigeria Police said they uncovered three training camps in Delta communities that belongs to IPOB. Police also said they recovered ammunition including AK47 rifles.

Though IPOB had since denied the claim, saying that Nigeria Security agencies should stop making jest of themselves by trying to associate IPOB with violence.

Suicide Not An Option! Exactly One Year After The 1st Class UNN Student Commits Suicide

Today being 5/12/2020 marks it one year after the young final year student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN identified as Chukwuemeka Akachi committed suicide.

Akachi who was a student of English and Literary Studies and a first class student took his own life after dropping a suicide note on Facebook.
It is learned that Akachi consumed two bottles of a poisonous substance and it was the second time he would be attempting suicide in recent times.

It is also gathered that Akachi had a long battle with mental health before he took committed suicide and this was confirmed in one of his social media posts prior to his death.

Taking to his Facebook to post his suicide note, Akachi who was also a budding poet wrote,

“Forgive me. In case you are the one who found the body, I am really sorry. It had to be someone, you know. I have chosen Jo Nketaih’s poem as my suicide note: “They said you came looking for me. I didn’t drown; I was the water.” Where do atheists go to when they die? lol. Amen.”

In one of his previous posts on Facebook, he wrote on his battle with mental health and how it has affected his growth, he shared,
“My mental health has been on life support for a while now. Thanks to those who call. Text. Visit. Speak to me. May we always remember. May we never forget. You may have added a few hours, months or days to my time here. But you know life support is expensive, right? Thanks for trying. Amen.”

Even as we remember Akachi, let us also note that suicide is never an option. No matter how cruel life may appeared to be, just know that in as much as there is life, there is hope.

Uproar In Twitter As Nigeria Man Abandons Fiance After 28 Abortions

There was an uproar on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Monday as a Nigerian man identified only as Kunle; became the subject of much vitriol after abandoning his fiancée who had gone through over 28 abortions for him.

In fact, the unidentified lady who disclosed that Kunle absconded on the day set aside for their wedding introduction; has threatened to make life a living hell for him. As a matter of fact, she had revealed that her lover, Kunle; had bought her a cheap engagement ring after she made clear her intentions to walk out of the relationship.

However, on the day of their introduction, he had turned off his phones; only to surface two days later to inform her that he cannot marry her because she is older.

‘‘I have been a quiet girl but not this time around. I have been with this guy since childhood…pursued all my suitors because I thought he was serious about his marriage proposal.

‘‘Each time I took in, he will tell me to abort, that he is not yet capable of starting a family. I am in my early thirties and he’s in his late twenties. When I got to know that I senior him with 4 years, he said age is not a problem. I have done several abortions for him. I lost count on the 28th. At a point I nearly died in one of the abortions.

‘‘I told him I am walking out of the relationship. He went and bought 500 Naira ring and engaged me. It’s been 3 years I have been wearing that ring….

‘‘He later agreed and we fixed date for introduction. My people invited some close family friends and cooked food. On that day, his phones were switched off. After 2 days, his number went through and he claimed his parents said he can’t marry a woman that is his senior. The same excuse he said doesn’t matter years ago.

‘‘Kunle, if you no run mad, call me a bastard. I will tell you I am from Bayelsa…’’

Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, a lawmaker representing Nasarawa Central constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, is dead.

His death was announced by Alhaji Mohammed Okpoku, representing Udege/Loko constituency on Friday in Nasarawa, NAN reports.

The deceased was confirmed dead in the late hours of Thursday after he was rushed to Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi following a brief illness.

He added that he would be buried on Friday in his hometown.

“I announce the death of my colleague, Hon Suleiman Adamu, who is from the same local government with me.

” His death is a painful loss to us and we will continue to pray for the reposed of his soul,” he said.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, yesterday expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon win the war against Coronavirus.
He said that the traditional cure for the virus had reached an advanced stage and would be made available to the public very soon.

The monarch disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, shortly after he donated two motorised modular fumigators to the state government.

Oba Ogunwusi, who stated the donation of the mechanical fumigators was his own contribution to the state government’s efforts at combating the pandemic, said that he had gone far in working with the traditional medicine practitioners in the country to ensure a solution for Coronavirus.

He said though scientific solutions were being sought globally to end the pandemic, traditional medicine and solutions must also be considered and embraced as a way out of COVID-19.

The Ooni, therefore, urged the Federal Government to emulate Madagascar in its quest to use local herbs in combating Coronavirus, declaring that local herbs have the potency to heal victims of the virus.

In his remarks, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun commended the monarch for the gesture and assured him that the fumigators would be put to good use.

Abiodun said the state was open to ideas and activities capable of finding a solution to the virus.

LADI KWALI: THE WOMAN AT THE BACK OF THE ₦20 NOTE (A MUST READ)

Ladi Kwali was a Nigerian potter, born in the village of Kwali in the Gwari region of Northern Nigeria. She was an exceptional and excellent potter who made beautiful potteries.

She lived all her life practicing pottery craft in Kwali village of Northern Nigeria, where she caught the attention of a white man who loved her work and helped her showcase her art around the world.
She was later invited to the United Kingdom, despite her informal education, to teach her art to students as an external lecturer/tutor.

Kwali was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1962 and an honourary doctoral degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1977.

In 1980, the Nigerian Government invested on her with the insignia of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award (NNOM); the highest national honour for academic achievement. She also received the national honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 1981.

Ladi Kwali died on August 12, 1984. She was 59. Her picture appears at the back of the ₦20 note.

Mohammed Atiku-Abubakar, a son of Nigeria’s former vice-president, has being moved to Intensive care unit were he is battling for survival as his case for coronavirus worsen on Wednesday. Ebonyitvnews learnt.

Mr Atiku-Abubakar who is 31, tested positive for the virus on March 19. He was subsequently moved to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where most COVID-19 cases around the Nigerian capital are treated.

After undergoing all the necessary medication, including antiretroviral and immune-boosting vitamins, he has continued to test positive 35 days on which is quiet very strange.

Medical experts knowledgeable with COVID-19 cases have said the virus can last for 37 days. But Mr Atiku’s son at 35 days, is now the longest carriers of the virus so far in Africa.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 death toll in the Nigeria is now 28 from 873 coronavirus cases.

A suspected coronavirus person who was reported to have sneaked into Abia  from neighboring state have being caught.

This was made known in an official statement from Abia state government which was made available to our correspondent

The statement read thus;

Abia State COVID-19 medical Rapid Response (RR) Team received information from NCDC national control room on a suspected COVID-19 patient named Vincent Prosper who called them from Abia State to report among other things that he was manifesting symptoms of the virus and recently had contacts with a confirmed patient in neighboring Akwa Ibom state in addition to recently returning from Lagos.

Our team immediately swung into action and called the number forwarded, took notes and asked the individual to isolate himself pending our arrival to take samples for testing. On arrival at the given location, he disappeared and was later to confess that he saw the ambulance and the fully kitted RR-team, lost courage, detested the possibility of being locked down and decided to switch off his phone and disappear into thin air.

We continued to look for him quietly and at some point got him again on the phone and he gave us a wrong address at Azikiwe Road and a team was immediately dispatched to the location but did not find him there.

At that point, we decided to enlist the services of a top security agency in the state to find him and also alerted members of the public yesterday regarding the situation in the hope that he would voluntarily come forward. He never did! But late last night, the security agency pinned his location down and this morning our RR-team stormed the location with security agents and took him into custody at our isolation facility at Amachara where we have now collected samples from him and dispatched to NCDC for testing.

He is now fully cooperating and all necessary information given, including the fact that while he actually recently returned from Lagos he didn't visit Akwa Ibom state since his return though he resides in a border community to Akwa Ibom State. His real name is also not Vincent Prosper and he actually made the call to NCDC Control room.
