In this post, I will explain what client, server and host is in internet/web technology.

Imagine going to a party like wedding party, in the party we have the host, server and the guest.
The host is the one that owns the party.
The server is the one that attends to the guest on behalf of the host in the party.
The guest is the that request for resource from the server.

Now back to internet technology,
Host is a computer which stores information/resources that can be accessed over the internet. Just like in the party scenario, the host owns the resources the food, drinks to be used for the party.

The server is the computer that provides services to other nodes (clients) on the network on behalf of the host. Like in the party, the server provides the food and drinks to the client on behalf of the host.

The client is the computer that is requesting for resource from the server on the network. Just like in the party, the guest request for drinks and food.

Internet
It is a global network of computers across the world wide web. It allows us to communicate, share information etc.
An example is the type of network we use to google words or visit nairaland.
There are some disadvantages such as virus, identity theft etc.



Intranet
It is a private network of computers within an organisation with its own firewall and server. It is a private network enterprise.
An example is a network server in an organisation (e.g microfinance bank). It nothing to do with outside of the organisation.
There are disadvantages such as loss of control, denial of service etc.

Extranet
It is a network within an organisation, using internet to connect to outsiders in controlled manner. It is a means of conveying information between members of the organisation and external members.
An example is a network used US CIA and connected externally by US FBI
A disadvantage is that it is vulnerable to security breaches.

Conclusion
Internet is open to entire world
Intranet is a private space
Extranet is a combination of both intranet and internet.

A former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, is dead.

The 70-year-old, who had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications, finally died on Thursday, according to findings by SaharaReporters.

On Monday, a reliable source close to the ex-governor had told SaharaReporters that Ajimobi had been on life support machine after he slipped into a deep coma and may not make any recovery going by the observations of medical experts around him. 

The source further disclosed that the former Oyo governor had a lung surgery since being rushed to the Lagos hospital but made no progress while his kidneys had also failed.

Doctors treating Ajimobi, it was reliably gathered, last Friday informed his family that his situation had defied every medical intervention and that only a miracle could bring him back to life. 


Those projections came true on Thursday as the ex-governor finally succumbed to the virus that has also killed several prominent Nigerians including late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, who was also treated for the disease at First Cardiology Hospital until he died.

Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, says President Muhammadu Buhari will likely dissolve his cabinet before May 29.

After assuming office in 2015, it took Buhari six months to unveil his cabinet and this attracted widespread criticisms.

But speaking on Arise Television on Thursday, Adesina said the president will not spend a long time before choosing his cabinet members.

He said the president had already promised to do so as soon as possible.

When asked if the president would reshuffle his cabinet, Adesina said: “One thing about governance is that the first mandate was for four years.

“That mandate lapses on May 29, and shortly before May 29, the president is likely going to officially dissolve his government. That is the way it is usually done.

“He says thank you to everybody that he has called to work with him and then he dissolves that government officially.

“Then when he is inaugurated for a second time, he now reconstitute a government; he appoints his personal aides, he forms his cabinet, he appoints other people to fill other positions.”

Buhari was declared winner of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday.

The president, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won a second term bid after polling over 15 million votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured over 12 million votes in the election.
