MickinAbuja:
I do not think that VO's apply their personal opinion because if they did the decisions would be overturned through Judicial Review. Sometimes the criteria is not clear to applicants and they have the chance at appeal to clear up any misconceptions, errors and submit extra information, evidence etc. that they may have left out in the application process, through no fault of their own
MickinAbuja,

Some of them do apply personal opinion, infarct lot of them do that and it is not new at all. I'm hearing it from you for the first time that they don't apply personal opinion. I can see Abuja on your name or are you an IrishVisaOfficer in Abuja? grin. Lot of cases won through oral hearing where applicants representatives proved to courts that decisions was based on personal opinion of the V.officers. My first Irish visa application was refused and i was not given right of appeal. I made a very crazy step, I sent a petition directly to the ambassador, i enclosed my original passport back to the embassy that I don't even need it any more, and i explained in the petition letter that the visa officer's decision was purely based on his personal opinion and bias. But to be sincere i actually took the risk knowing fully well that i may be banned for sending original passport with petition back. This is a case where i met all the required documents one by one even more than the documents they required coupled with the fact that i already have different visas. After few weeks, i received an email to forward a return DHL or UPS envelope within 48 hours, i couldn't get DHL and UPS then, so i used TNT, i received the envelope through TNT in Lagos and the first thing i saw was a Letter of Apology signed by the Assistant to the Ambassador and they issued me a 3 month Irish visa. I visited Dublin then and i spent only 8 days. After then it was renewed to another 3 months. So, that apology letter always look like gold to me and so i always include it in any of my visa application then, though it means nothing to any visa officer. grin .. My point here is, if you meet visa requirements and you're still refused the visa, i think its not a bad idea to challenge the decision even though issuing you the visa is not your right but privilege. But still, its good to challenge some visa decisions. They're not always right. However, fingers are not equal. I suspect you're a VisaOfficer? grin

If buying stakes at AFC is about money , then ,[s]Alisha Usmanov who is 3 times richer than the Russian mugu (mogul) , CFC owner and Dangote combined would have been the majority shareholder at AFC. Usmanov have tried unsuccessfully for years too [/s].

PoliticsYou Can't Hold Us Responsible For Your Loss, PDP Tells Jonathan -vanguard by dotcomnamename(op): 9:23am On May 05, 2015
ABUJA- Thirty-six days after the March 28 Presidential election, National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday said that President Goodluck Jonathan should not hold the National Working Committee, NWC, responsible for losing the presidential election.
Addressing Journalists , Monday, in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh while exonerating the party from Jonathan’s failure, stressed that the defeat was because the party and its leadership were not carried along and their advice was ignored.

Metuh who noted that hate campaign by the Presidential Campaign Committee resulted in the failure of the party, said that members of the NWC did not play any significant role in the 2015 presidential campaign of the party, adding that the abysmal performance ‎of the party in the north was a result of the hate campaign adopted by the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation against the APC and its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd.

Reacting to an online report that NWC members shared part of the presidential campaign funds among themselves, said the NWC was never involved in the disbursement of campaign funds, revealed that the party spent over N4 billion to sponsor their candidates in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and the House of Assemblies elections.

Metuh said, “we did not lead the party to failure, we were not involved in the campaigns and our advice was ignored. If we had handled the campaign, Mr. President would have won the election. We cannot be held responsible when our advise was ignored.

PoliticsBuhari Drops Governors Fashola And Fayemi From Ministerial List by dotcomnamename(op): 11:50am On May 03, 2015
All is not well with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s rank and file seems in disarray following the alleged dropping of the names of Lagos governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) and former Ekiti State governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi from the ministerial list of President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

According to our investigation, both men who are supposed to be candidates of the national leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not be enjoying the support of the Jagaban of Borgu kingdom that is expected to press for their inclusion. National Weekender learnt that their names were initially pencilled down on the list still being worked on before final vetting by the party’s national leadership but on advice of a very powerful chieftain in the South West, the names of the duo were erased.

This development has irked the trio of governors Chibuike Amaechi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rochas Okorocha and Adams Oshiohmole of Rivers, Kano, Imo and Edo States respectively. The governors in a show of solidarity for the duo who belongs to their constituency (Governors Forum even as Fayemi is no longer in office) felt slighted that they were not carried along in the decision to drop both men who had worked tirelessly to actualize the victory of the party in the 2015 General Elections.

Recall that Fayemi was Director of Media and Publicity of Buhari’s Campaign Organization even as Fashola played a supporting role behind the Director-General Gov. Amaechi. To this end, the governors frowned at the dropping of their names since it was not a reward for their hard work but rather an exercise of ingratitude which is capable of disuniting the party. Feelers from the party suggest that Fayemi was to get the portfolio of Minister for Information since he is the face of the party in Ekiti despite losing to Ayo Fayose in the gubernatorial election held on June 26 2014.

Meanwhile Fashola would have been Minister for Works on account of his performance as governor of Lagos.

Our investigation further reveals that as replacements for Fashola and Fayemi, the very powerful party chieftain moving for their exclusion has recommended Sen. Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon and former governor, Segun Oni respectively. Says one of our sources, “ there is real trouble brewing within our party. A powerful member of the party in the South West has called for the names of Fashola and Fayemi to be dropped from the ministerial list. This has not gone down well with some very influential members of the party who are governors.

“Kwankwaso who is a great admirer of Fashola has kicked the decision to drop the latter into touch. He enjoys the support of Governors Amaechi, Oshiohmole and Okorocha. These governors feel that if this powerful party chieftain is not stopped now he may run their interests down in the party. A meeting will be held before the final ratification of the list by the party’s leadership and the aggrieved governors want to seize the opportunity to make their position known. And it is simply that Fashola and Fayemi must be on Buhari’s cabinet.”

National Weekender scooped that the second term move of Fashola which was against the wish of his godfather Tinubu was responsible for his plight. He is perhaps paying the prize for doing a second term. It is believed that he has not been forgiven by Tinubu for daring the Lion of Bourdillon. On Fayemi’s part, it is said that Tinubu is still angry with him for carelessly conceding defeat to Fayose in the 2014 governorship election when he actually had everything going for him. But Fayemi’s real sin was to have congratulated Fayose after the result of the election was announced without getting clearance from Tinubu.

One of our sources says, “This ministerial list is a very contentious issue especially as it concerns the dropping of the names of both men. Buhari is yet to say anything about the list because the leadership of the party entrusted the exercise in the hands of Tinubu who is the clearing house and coordinating all the interest groups within the party and those chosen to pick or appoint candidates. Mat be he will eventually speak at the meeting where expectedly the leadership of the party will take a stand.

PoliticsRe: Buhari First 7 Horrible Acts Since Becoming President Elect by dotcomnamename: 7:22pm On Apr 30, 2015
naija2dabone:
1. A legion of excuses and change of promises

Since winning election, Buhari has been singing a new tune totally different from what he told us prior to the elections. From "dont expect miracles", to "my agenda threaten by falling oil prices" Now we even hear that the APC's manifestos which Nigerians voted for 'is not the bible or Qur'an which can not be change' See gobe

2. Barring AIT
Old habits die hard. 'repentant democrat' indeed. The fate of even nairaland is in the balance

3. Rewarding founder of BBOG group with political appointment
That the activities of this group is suspect from the start is no news but with this all doubts about their mission and aims have been cleared. They may have many lofty aims as a group but now we know that rescuing the chibok girls is not one of their aims

4. Promises Selective probes (Case in point, Sanusi's £20 billions)
One of the think Buhari was accused of during the campaigns was his tendacy for selective prosecutions. Now tell me, what about the Financial Reporting Council allegations of fraudulent financial recklessness leveled against Sanusi himself including the Sanusi’s claim that it paid N38.233 billion to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Plc in 2011 for the “printing of bank notes” whereas the turnover of the entire printing and minting company group is N29.370 billion.

5.Promoting god fatherism in Nigeria political space
From hanging out with OBJ to granting interview to Aljezera insinuating that OBJ is his political god father. We all know that political god fatherism is one of the bane of our national development as all political god fathers are rent seekers

6. Making Corrupt politicians the pillars of his team
For some one who made all the right noises about fighting corruption to be nomination a committee filled with people with corruption cases with EFCC leave much to be desired. Even making Timipre Sylva, who is accused of stealing N19.2billion from the state treasury while he governed the state between 2007 and 2011 as the head of his team is a shame

7. Forming a parallel government.
Through his actions and utterances, the incoming government was overheating the polity and carrying out actions which tend to undermine the powers of President Goodluck Jonathan. Do unto other as you wish other do to you
