Decency is a function of class.
The more class you have the more decent you are.
The less class, the less decent.
You and your friend or (former) flat mate, or colleague at work are not on the same level if your taste is different.
This is not money, age or marital status or whatever but it is a matter of decency and class.
Your level of reasoning, thinking and reacting on issues differs.
Let them redefine it and interpret the rest in their mind..

can someone prove me wrong pls? wink

As there is no thread for Irish Visit/Tourist Visa in nairaland, i have decided to create this thread for the purpose of gathering information about Irish Visit/Tourist Visa. For those who believe that it is extremely difficult to obtain an Irish Visit/Tourist Visa at the Irish Embassy, i can confirm that it is not difficult to obtain an Irish Visit/Tourist Visa provided that you meet the requirements of the relevant rules by the Embassy of Ireland. If you have a good job in Nigeria, i mean well paying job in Nigeria and working full time and you can prove that, off course you can apply for an Irish Visit/Tourist visa to the Embassy of Ireland in Abuja through the VFS.

I will personally suggest the following documents:

Evidence of any other investment you own such as shares, e.t.c.

If you are sating in a hotel accommodation you must provide confirmed hotel booking covering the duration of your stay in Ireland.

Family' I Sold My Child For N4M And I Want Him Back Now' by dotcomnamename(op): 7:43pm On Oct 05, 2012
shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
NOTE: After this confession, I will close this email and you may not be able to reach me through it again.

This is for identity reason, as I have been warned not to disclose this. I also know that NAPTIP or how do they call them, will come after me.

I need to avoid this. I’m not educated, but I have to trust someone to write this piece for me for your newspaper. At least I can read, so I can monitor all the comments that will pour in as a result of my distasteful act.

I’m ready to receive any kind of insult, and possibly commit suicide if…

This is not fictitious. I confess with tears streaming from my eyes. Do not pity me. I don’t pity myself. I consider myself a greedy fool who doesn’t even deserve to live for just another day.

Permit me to tell you how it all started. I had a child out of wedlock. I couldn’t have taken the child to any particular man because none was going to accept him either.

This is because of the kind of life I have lived as a young girl of 24. Quite frankly, I was a prostitute. I can’t tell who the father of my baby is, even as I make this confession. I decided to keep the child just to avoid all the embarrassment associated with this.

I live in the East. It is difficult to survive down here, considering that I also had a baby to care for. My baby was just 9 months when it all happened. I was fed up with life, and I told one of my friends that I was ready to sell my baby to survive so long as I know he would be safe.

She passively laughed at my ignoble assertion. However, two weeks after we discussed, some people called me from the North, that they would like to meet me. I thought they were my usual customers, until I saw two men in my small apartment three days later. T

hey said they were informed that I was willing to sell my child. I asked how they got to know, and they showed me their identity cards. They were police officers and had been asked to do the transaction with me on behalf of a man whose identity they kept secret.

At first, I was scared. And I told them angrily that I was not that kind of person. They were so persistent that they even showed me the cheque signed by one of the officers. I ordered them out of my room and they left that day.

I thought they would be calling me to bother me, but they didn’t. I was full of regrets. I was caught in between constant thought of the money and the adverse effect of losing my child to a total stranger. Different ideas were circling in my head, until I took one last decision.

I picked up my phone after three days of my meeting with the police officers and I asked them to come down as I had accepted to do the transaction. They had warned me that it won’t be very funny if at the end I still go ahead to treat them the way they were treated the last time they came; but I assured them of my total cooperation.

They came again the next day. I was sobbing when they walked in. Yes, I was crying for my child because I knew that after that day, I won’t see him again. They came in a police van, apparently to take my child away with it.

They said the Alhaji who wanted the child was waiting. I asked whether my child was going to be killed. They took pity on me and told me that the man who wanted the child never had a child, and that had occasioned their trip down to the East in search of a child.

They assured me that nothing was going to happen to the child, but that I should take my mind off my baby, as I was never going to see him again. They said that after the payment had been made, the child would cease to be mine.

I wept as I handed over my child to one of them who sat at the back of the van. We drove to one of the banks where the transaction took place. Sincerely, my account was credited and they left. Ten minutes after their departure, I collapsed in the bank premises in tears, leaving many people to wonder what could be wrong with me.

I called them to return my child but they said it was too late.

The painful aspect of my trouble is that I didn’t use the money to do any reasonable thing. As I speak to you, my account has gone down, and I can’t really point to any reasonable thing I have done with the money, apart from the car that I bought few months after the incident.

People around me don’t know what happened to my child as I keep telling them that my baby is with my mum in the village.

I’m making this confession because I doubt if I may survive this CURSE I have brought upon myself. The last cry of my baby re-echoes each time I’m alone. I hear him cry into the silence of the night when I’m alone in my room.

I have not known peace since I sold my child. I have had accident up to ten times since the fateful day. None of the accidents was unconnected to absence minded.

The guilt continues to live in me. Now, I’m contemplating suicide. All I want is your advice as I find very useful comments on this site each time I log in with my phone.

I hardly make comments but I read your confession segment a lot. I always console myself with people who have big problems like me. Please tell me what to do.

I want to get my child back, but I don’t even have a clue on what to do. I don’t even know exactly where my child is now. I think I have been so foolish. Don’t feel any remorse for me. Give me the best advice – exactly what you would tell your sister if she found herself in my shoes.

I am waiting.

RomanceI Used Juju To Marry My Wife, Now She's Barren How Do I Tell Her by dotcomnamename(op): 1:06pm On Oct 05, 2012
Its hard for anyone to imagine the situation in which i find myself and what is even harder is what to do to get myself out of this dilemma.

When i met my wife she was (she still is) a most wonderful looking lady, with a nice figure, endowments in the right proportions and a bright complexion, it was hard too take my eyes and my thought off her and it was even harder to get her to like me, she was a working class lady, independent enough to take care of herself, i was working as well with a good enough a job and was getting a very splendid pay and other props that went with being a big boy, but the flip side of the whole thing was my looks.

I was (i still am) on the very short of side of height and in looks, i am what you can call Baba Iyabo's younger brother (no offence), so it was almost a case of beauty and the beast, so from the on set she made it clear she could not date me not to talk of marrying me but in all these she was never rude to me, she's a most wonderfully behaved woman, but I was smitten by her beauty that her response to me affected me so much i was nearing a point of mental collapse.

A bosom friend of mine seeing the emotional fix i was in suggested a baba to me, that would give me a charm that i could use in making her fall in love with and the told me after i asked over and over again if the charm did not have a my side effect which he said it did not have, i was able to use the charm on her by putting it on one of the very many gift items i bought for her, she never rejected my gifts even though she said she could not marry, this very action of her was what gave me hope until i ended up using the option of charm.

The dilemma now is this, ten years after our marriage, she has been unable to conceive, and from what i found out what i was told is that the cause is the charm i used to marry her, that the only way the thing can break is if i tell her the truth about how i got to marry me, which if i do the charm will clear off and she will be able to conceive but may hate me all over agin when she realises who she really married.

So please i need people to please advice me on what to do, i am dying inside and close to committing suicide

TravelRe: FRENCH TOURIST VISA : Help Needed by dotcomnamename: 10:21am On Oct 05, 2012
Vicjustice: It is not a requirement.
Some time ago, it was possible to book a flight itinerary without paying for it, and then use it in visa application. But now-a-days, no Airline Company allows that and, they do not even allow a booking to exceed 24 hours without paying for it: and most economy class tickets are non-refundable. Visa Officers know this and therefore, it is not logical for them to require a flight ticket of you when they are not sure that your visa will be approved: It would be a tragedy to pay a non-refundable (lets say) N200.000 for a flight ticket and then to be refused the visa to travel
You'll be greater than the greatest for this positive reply. Heard the same from someone last night ! grin. Many Thanks..
TravelRe: FRENCH TOURIST VISA : Help Needed by dotcomnamename: 10:49pm On Oct 04, 2012
Vicjustice: A Nigerian holding a UK visa does not need a transit visa to connect through airports in France. But if you wish to be allowed into the country, then, you need a tourist visa.

If your documents are not questionable, if your intention is clear and your application is transparent, then, your visa could be issued within ten days depending on how busy they are.

An interview is not necessary if your application is crystal clear and the embassy has no reason to question you.

The airline that you fly with is not necessarily taken into account, but the airport you'd be flying from may count for security and verification reasons. And it doesn't matter what country you arrive in first (whether the UK or France) as long as you hold the UK and the Schengen visa, but if you wish to exercise your Schengen visa first, you have to start with France except you have compelling reasons to enter through another Scengen country.

Well, be careful with Nigerians when it comes to travel matters because, most are vampires, when you have some money to be sucked out of you: They are predators, when you allow them to exhaust the life of your purse and scavengers when they feed on your remnant.
Honestly, you don't really need a tour guide, Tour-guides are usually for a group of tourists who pay for the services of a tourism company that provides them with private vehicles (ie buses) with tourist drivers and guides.
So, what you can do is to go to a tourist information dest in Paris, they are usually at the Airports, also at major train and bus stations, there you would be provided with free take-away maps of the city showing tourist attractions and directions. You would be told how to get to the city Site-Seeing bus-stops where you can join an open-roof-double-decker (hop-in/hop-out) tour bus that will take you about the whole city: the buses have inbuilt recorded information that explains every attraction in view, and every passenger will be given an earphone and allowed the options of different languages. The cost is remarkably cheap, the services are superb and the staff are polite.
Man, just do as i narrated, and you'd have a blissful trip to talk about in Nairaland
Sorry, i should ask Vcjustice grin, is it a requirement from the French Embassy in Nigeria that an applicant must purchase a traveling return ticket and submit it along with his/her application at the vfs application center. Is it compulsory now? Or it was compulsory before in 2010, and we are in 2012 now. ?
TravelRe: FRENCH TOURIST VISA : Help Needed by dotcomnamename: 10:25pm On Oct 04, 2012
Dantecmu: This is how i know it works at the french embassy documents needed for a french tourist visa includes

Bank statement
Emplyment letter
Itroduction letter
Pay stubs
hotel reservation
travel insurance
photocopy of your work id card
valid travel ticket
and any other documents to proove you got ties in Nigeria and also that you are comfortable back home in Nigeria

Step 2
Go to the VFS office in lekki yourself and submit your documents and then you would be given a ticket or card and told to report to the embassy at FALOMO for your thumb printing and maybe and interview and then you would be told to come back for your passport in 5 working days , Note that you must be available for your thumb printing, thats all i fink you need to know as regards french embassy, but as regards the ticket what you can do is this you go to air france office on adeola odeku and tell them you wanna apply for a french visa you would be told to deposit #50.000, and a ticket would be given to you if your visa is denied you come back with your passport to proof that you where denied and your money would be refunded but if you are not denied you complete the ticket money and fly with them,

All tha best,
ciao
@ Dantecmu, is it a requirement from the French Embassy that an applicant must purchase a traveling return ticket and submit it along with his/her application at the vfs application center. IS it compulsory?
