The Lagos Command of the Nigerian Police Force on Wednesday paraded two suspects in the murder of Cynthia Akuzogwu Udoka, daughter of a retired General, who they met on Facebook and persuaded her to come to Lagos, from Jos, the Plateau state capital.

Emotions ran high, yesterday, at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, following startling revelations by two university students on how Cynthia Osokogu, the only daughter of a retired General was strangled inside a hotel in Festac area of the state.

One of the suspects, Ezekiel Nnechuwu Olisa Eloka, 23, told the police that they killed Cynthia because they believed she had a lot of money.

But after taking her life, they did not find any significant amount of cash. Both Eloka and Echezona Nwabufor, confirmed that they met the victim on Facebook and invited her to come to Lagos to buy goods at cheap prices.

Cynthia, they claim was their sixth victim.
RomanceWould You Do Your Wedding In The Absence Of Your Partner ? by dotcomnamename(op): 1:14pm On Aug 23, 2012
Ladies, be honest and sincere, would you do your traditional engagement wedding in the absence of your partner?

Christianity EtcTouching Story (a Must Read) by dotcomnamename(op): 9:19am On Aug 23, 2012
A young woman was
serving a life sentence in
prison. Angry and resentful
about her situation, She had
decided that she would
rather die to live another
year in prison.
Over the years she had
become good friends with
one of the prison caretaker.
His job among others was
to bury the dead prisoners
in the grave yard outside
the prison walls.
When a prisoner died, the
care taker rang
a bell which was heard by
everyone.
The caretaker then got the
body and put it in a casket.
Next, he entered his office
to fill out the death
certificate before returning
to the casket to nail the lid
shut. Finally, he would put
the casket on a wagon to
take it to the
graveyard and burry it
alone.
Knowing this routine, the
woman devised an escape
plan and shared it with the
caretaker. The next time the
bell rung, the woman
would leave her cell and
sneak into the dark room
where the coffins were
kept.
She would sleep into the
coffin with the dead body
while the caretaker was
filling out the death
certificate.
When the care-taker
returned, he would
nail the lid shut and take the
coffin outside the prison
with the dead body.
He would then burry the
coffin. The woman knew
there would be enough air
for her to breathe until later
in the evening when the
caretaker would return to
the graveyard under the
cover of darkness, dig up
the coffin, open it and set
her free.
The caretaker was reluctant
to go along with this plan,
but since him and the
woman had become good
friends over years, he
agreed to do it for her. The
woman waited several
weeks before someone in
the prison died.
She was asleep one day
then she heard the death
bell ringing. She got up and
slowly walked down the
hallway. She was nearly
caught a couple of times.
Her heart was beating so
fast.
She opened the door to the
darkened room where the
coffins were kept.
Quietly in the dark, she
found the coffin that
contained the dead body,
she carefully climbed into
the coffin and pulled the lid
shut to wait for the
caretaker to come and nail
the lid shut. Soon she heard
footsteps and pounding of
the hammer and nails. Even
though she was very
uncomfortable in the coffin
with the dead body, she
knew that with each nail
she was
one step closer to freedom.
The coffin was lifted onto
the wagon and taken
outside to the graveyard.
She could feel the coffin
being lowered into the
ground.
She didn’t make a sound as
the coffin hit the bottom of
the grave with a thud.
Finally she heard the dirt
dropping onto the top of
the wooden coffin, and she
knew that it was only a
matter of time until she
would be free at last.
After several
minutes of absolute silence,
she began to laugh. She
was free! She was free!
Feeling curious, she decided
to light a match to
find out the identity of the
dead prisoner beside her.
To her horror, she
discovered that she was
lying next to the dead
"prison caretaker"

RomanceWhy Many Husbands Are Snatched By House Helps by dotcomnamename(op): 3:34pm On Aug 21, 2012
Mrs Clara could not just imagine what attracted her husband to the poor house help. But the more she thought about it, the more she got confused. And the fact that her husband would not say anything beyond his apology troubled her the more.
The fact, however, was that her husband was more worried and scandalised by Nana Aba’s four-month old pregnancy than she was. He, however, had nothing to say except his continual prayer for the forgiveness of sins, his remorseful apologies to his wife and his determination to soak in all the insults and abuse she subjected him to without any reply.

Her Husband was the general manager of one of the country’s leading banks, and his wife was the human resource manager of the nation’s topmost insurance company. They had been married for 15 years. He was a respected elder of their church, and the youth looked up to him as a role model. His humility and modest disposition, despite his position, were simply matchless. And his moral uprightness was unquestionable.
In a world where all men are often tarred with the same brush with regard to fidelity, Clara often boasted about her husband’s commitment: “Even if I catch him naked in the same room with another woman, I will still doubt if anything really happened between them.”

So she could not just understand what came over him to have stooped so low to have an affair with this stark illiterate who possessed nothing to attract even the wildest and indiscriminate womaniser. It was the fear of hiring a house help could entice her husband that she decided against engaging Audrey, the senior high school dropout who looked a bit more presentable than Nana Aba. her husband could also not understand why he could not tame himself against his own house help after he had endured some of the most tempting women of his life.
He had caused the transfers of two of his personal secretaries and requested that he would no longer work with any female secretary because of their seductive tendencies. The most tempting of all was his nightly encounter with, Mavis, the sexy national service lady from the communications unit of his bank, who once travelled with him for a business meetings.

Despite his ability to ward of these kinds of mounting pressures from women, He fell for Aba, his house help, when there was practically no temptation. It was a Saturday afternoon and his wife was attending the speech and prize-giving day of her alma mater. Aba had just prepared an early lunch of plantain and stew and he really relished it so much. After the meal, he called her to pour him a glass of fruit drink from the refrigerator, after which he complimented her cooking.
It was when she turned to go that he could not hold back what he had developed for her of late. He asked her where she was going and she said she was going to take her bath. He then instructed her to hurry up and see him for a discussion, to which she respectfully obliged and took her bath in a matter of five minutes. When she finished he was in his bedroom and invited her in.

It was too unusual of him but she could not object to it. “Do you have a boyfriend?” he asked Aba, after asking her to sit on the bed. She shook her head shyly and he went ahead to ask whether she sometimes felt like having a man.
She was too confused to answer. He asked again and she nodded. “I like you,” he said and held her close to himself. She was too frightened to protest until he began to UnCloth her. “There’s nothing to fear. It will be over soon,” he assured her and went ahead to peel off her clothes.
“Are you in your dangerous days,” he asked.

“No, Sir,” Aba said without taking time to understand what it meant. She lay like a piece of log and endured it, for she was too frightened to enjoy anything. It happened once and he could not bring himself to continue, for guilt had already dispossessed him of his manly prowess. He ordered her to get up and dress.
He then handed her 6000 Naira notes, which shocked her even more than the affair. She was reluctant to take it until he said, “Take it. Buy yourself a new pant.” He had seen that not only had her otherwise white pant become brown, but it had also been overused and he nearly tore it into pieces in his hurry. Mr Appau became traumatised and fasted for the forgiveness of his sins and was almost recovering when the seed he had sown two months earlier began to manifest.
His insistence that the pregnancy should not be aborted infuriated his wife, and was the cause of her never-ending abuse for days.

To his dismay, however, she woke him up in the middle of one night to apologise to him. “Darling, I’m sorry for the abuse. I have been praying over this for some time now and the Spirit tells me you were bewitched,” she said. “I should have known better that nothing about that girl could ever attract you when you have a wife like me.”
“I don’t think it has anything to do with witchcraft,” He spoke for the first time. “That girl has something that you don’t have.”
“What does this dirty thing have that I don’t have?” she screamed. “She has respect. I cannot justify what has happened, but if Aba has any witchcraft that drew me close to her, then it is her respect. She makes me feel welcome in my home. In this house she makes me feel important. It is something you have starved me for the fifteen years we’ve been married. It is a luxury and I easily get swayed by it.”
She could not utter any word but she replied him with tears.

They were tears of grief. Tears of guilt. And of regret. Mrs Clara was a kind of woman every man would dream of having but she lacked respect for her husband and she did not argue when her husband told her what made him fall. She knew it was true.
Readers, you may be wondering why I have decided to bore you with yet another tale. I’m not in any way laying the foundation for infidelity. I just want to illustrate the value we men place on respect. We have an big ego and so feel deflated when we are treated with contempt, especially from our women.
I’m not calling for worship.

I’ve realised that respect is the missing element in many womens character.
If our relationship, and for that matter our marriage, will succeed, then it will depend on respect. We have to respect each other in order to live together. Make me feel appreciated. Let me know you value me. And treat me the way I treat you.
On mutual respect shall we build our marriage and the gates of divorce shall not prevail against it.

BusinessA Word Of Advice About (MONEY RITUALS) by dotcomnamename(op): 3:04am On Aug 20, 2012
It's a bloody shame for people to believe in such crap so called ‘’MONEY RITUAL’’!
It's the same story for the ones who waste their time patronizing babalawos, dibias and the likes instead of working on real solutions to their problems.
I believe that the only ritual to money is diligence and hard work!
The most people involved these days are these Yahoo Yahoo people, and you can never in this world believe what they do to make one maga pay them.
Innocent bloods have been shed just because some people want to be rich overnight.
This ugly practise is shown in Nollywood films to create awareness but it’s got its negative side too as people in other parts of the world have started viewing Nigerians as money itualists. Can you imagine I was having a discussion with a friend the other day and she raised the issue that most nigerians make money rituals and I was highly embarrassed.
Recently, there have been several reported cases of individuals who
were kidnapped, killed, or had their bodies mutilated by ritualists in
Nigeria.
We need to change our orientation as a nation...a million naira is not a lot of money to the average Nigerian anymore. The level of corruption in our society has greatly devalued our sense of values.
People now resort to yahoo-yahoo, rituals to become rich by all means.
We all deserve to be comfortable, but only if we are ready to work for it.
Getting rich at the expense of taking another's life… Haaaaa, nawa O!!!
Money rituals are the bane of Nigerian society. If people are not engaged in it, they live in fear of it.
One hears of bus-loads of people on the public transport system being 'hijacked' to remote places for rituals. It's very scary and IT MUST STOP.
One minute you are in a bus you think the bus is going to Yaba. The next minute, you find yourself in a remote village bush being prepared for a ritual!!!
IF YOU ARE ONE OF THEM PLANNING TO TAKE THIS STEP OF MONEY RITUAL, BETTER DON’T TRY IT, BECAUSE EVERYTHING HAS A PRICE. AND IF YOU NEED HELP FROM THE DEVIL, THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW NOW THAT THE PRICE TAG IS YOUR SOUL.

Politics“I Removed A Governor For Stealing N300,000 by dotcomnamename(op): 2:40pm On Aug 17, 2012
“I removed a governor for stealing N300,000, but you cannot remove them for stealing N3 billion” ~ IBB

Former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has dismissed insinuations that his regime institutionalised corruption and declared that the scourge is more rampant today than in his time.

The general, who is 71 today, was speaking to reporters at an interactive session on the eve of his birthday in his Hilltop residence in Minna yesterday.

“Some people said I institutionalised corruption but I remember I removed a governor for stealing N300,000, but now you cannot remove them even for stealing N3 billion,” the general remarked, noting that those still accusing him of alleged corruption 22 years after he left office were neither realistic nor fair to him.

The former military president who also stated “I managed poverty but some people managed affluence” said he will continue to respect the late human rights lawyer and advocate Chief Gani Fawehinmi because he did all his criticism as a legal luminary “and you always learnt one thing from him.”

Commenting on the prevailing security challenges, including the potential threat by the Boko Haram, IBB said it is a passing phase, insisting that the development will not disintegrate the country.

He added that people should be sincere and accept that President Goodluck Jonathan needed support of every Nigerian.
When asked whether he was hopeful that the nation will remain the same in the face of the Boko Haram and other challenges, Babangida said “Positive! Yes, you know why? When I was growing up I was involved in so many things in this country which border on the stability of this country.

From 1963 to 1993, when I left office, I was involved in many things. We also saw many things like Tiv riot and civil war. It went on like that because we are a ‘developing’ country, so it went through and is still going through. I participated in virtually every operation from 1964 till I left office. I am sensible enough to know that we have to go through this.”

The former military president said what is happening in Nigeria is a passing phase in the history of every developing nation, saying that it is instructive to note that all the leaders of developing nations are always aware of the challenges.

He also stated that it was his belief that unlike his own generation, the younger generations have more things that will make them bond together easily and he could see the younger generation achieving unity at least 50 years.

“I don’t think that we are likely going again into civil war despite all that is happening. I am not sure that your generation may like to go through what we went through,” IBB remarked adding that hope for keeping Nigeria one lays in the hands of the common man and not the elite and media who he claimed were unnecessarily sensational about issues that could easily be resolved through dialogue.

The former military president said the common man has never been involved in the “if you cannot get it you find a reason to spoil it” syndrome.

He explained that his coming together with his “Boss” former president Olusegun Obasanjo was the best they could do at the moment because “when me and my Boss Obasanjo issued a joint statement we proffered our solution, it is laziness for somebody to sit down and ask what did we do. Fine, we were there when it started but we should not be deprived of the right to make a contribution, what President Jonathan needs is support and that is what we are giving him”.

He said what he shared in common with former President Obasanjo was a passion for a united Nigeria. “I can tell you that if there is somebody committed to the unity of Nigeria that person is my Boss OBJ”.

IBB therefore said: “I plead with all of us to live with one another in peace, that is the only way we can move forward. The country has a lot of potential, what we need to do is to try to live in peace with one another, we can channel this virtue of ours towards achieving a great country.”

On his feud with Edwin Clark he said “Chief Edwin Clark is my friend. I have known him for over 30 years, there is mutual respect between us, he will not deny me as his friend. The media might have heightened it.”

On the state police debate, IBB supported the idea of state police that will operate within the confines of a given law saying that in the 50s and 60s there was state police but “they said it was used to molest political opponents”.

He said he wondered why the fear of state police continues to persist, saying “left to me the purpose of government is security, the fears that governors will use the state police is unfounded”.

Commenting on why he left the late General Sani Abacha behind in 1993 when he was stepping aside, Babangida said that he left him behind to strengthen the interim government and not for any ulterior motive, saying that what happened after that was another story entirely.
