Now listen very carefully, Robin Van Persie will definitely sign a new contract with Arsenal. This will be the case because a lot of the speculation surrounding whether he will stay or not is based on qualitative data. According to the media Van Persie said that Arsenal have to prove that they want to challenge for trophies. That is a criteria that is immeasurable. How can you prove something like this? By spending 100 million? By buying more and more players that may or may not play well? By changing staff? By doing a pinkie swear?

This is more of a gambit on Van Persie’s side just to get the club into shape and make some people sweat. It reminds me of Rooney a few years back threatening to leave MU until he got assurances they would strengthen the club (and a big pay rise).

From all indications, it seems Kemi, the daughter of one time governor of Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo would be coming back to her father’s land because the Canadian authorities are bent in deporting her this week.

Kemi, we heard will be deported alongside her children who all came to Canada to seek refuge some years back. Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, 48, a mother of four sons who are U.S. citizens filed for refugee status in Canada. But her request was turned down hence her planned deportation. Though, those who are in the know claim her planned deportation transcends the issue of her refugee status refusal, that it was actually because of the trouble she fomented regularly in that part of the world.

According to the Toronto SUN.Com, the government of Canada will make sure that the lady will be deported to her country, Nigeria this week. But according to the interview she granted the news medium SUN>Com, she nurses a palpable fear over her life and that of her children should they be deported to Nigeria; she cited the series of attacks she’s been getting from her country people over her comment on the social media. Speaking from her Toronto home, she says “Nobody knows what will happen to us when we are deported to Nigeria.” Speaking further, she said some of her blogs and tweets have been against the government of Nigeria; and because of that, the government will make her a target if she’s back to the country.

The former U.S. green-card holder, publicist and journalist has been plagued by reports that she is sought on outstanding warrants in Georgia, a claim that she denies, citing one court action that is being appealed.

Omololu-Olunloyo is well-known in Toronto for helping black parents who’ve had their sons murdered. She has held vigils for at least 17 slain youths.

Chairman of Zenon Oil, on Tuesday, held members of the House of Reps Committee on Ethics to the ground while insisting that Nigerians and the rest of the world must have first-hand knowledge of the hearing. Mr. Femi Otedola said he was not ready for any “backyard business”.

As would be expected, emotions flared as members of the Committee saw Otedola’s stand as an insult on them and the entire House of Reps.

The businessman appeared before the committee but refused to testify, stressing that he would only do so if the session would be broadcast live on a national television.

After 120 minutes behind closed doors, Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Gambo Musa, told journalists, “Unfortunately, he (Otedola) was misguided, either by his lawyer or some people not to talk to us. We did all we could to explain our powers under the constitution (1999), but Otedola refused to answer questions.

“He said that he would do so only in public. He went further to insult us in one way or another but we allowed him… We reminded him of the consequences of not answering our questions. We even asked him to produce whatever evidence he submitted to the SSS and the police as proof but he refused.

Mr. Otedola actually came to the House with a statement, which contained his objection to a secret hearing. Below is his position:

“This is a matter that has generated a lot of public interest and controversy. The House of Representatives Committee on the Management of Fuel Subsidy headed by Hon. Farouk Lawan held all its sittings in public.

“When this issue arose, the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics and Privileges publicly stated that its investigations would be held in public. It is therefore surprising and curious that this committee has made a U-turn to hold its investigative sittings in camera particularly in the light of unfolding events.

“I strongly believe that the interest of the public will not be best served if this investigation is held in camera. I have nothing to hide and will only speak on this issue when this investigation is conducted in a very transparent manner and the press as well as the general public are allowed to be present at the sittings of this committee from the beginning of its investigation to its conclusion.

“Thank you… Femi Otedola, CON, 3rd July, 2012.”

It would recall that Mr. Otedola was at the House to answer questions relating to the $620,000 bribery scandal involving himself and Farouk Lawan.
