Lol. Babe now you are being realistic.
But I don't think society and culture should be blame.
Instead blame poverty and greed.
Nah

I disagree.

you should start identifying your self with them.(feminist)

lol@house husband.you sure.

As per you last statement.most of the female graduates i knw are working.not just staying at home doing nothing..
I am very sure.

That was why I am faulting this article. It makes no sense. Married Nigerian women are trying so hard just like their husbands. The desire to marry a rich man is not the absence of my aspirations.

Lolzzz, for realhuh See subjective idea . "Marriage for you is pleasing God" yet all you seek for is to marry a very rich man? issorite.
Well I am not against marriage ooo. But the way most of these women carry relationship and marriage is as if its a job opportunity. Make una no dey frustrate men Biko.tanks
Yes now

Blame the society and our culture

a housewife is not productive to the sociey ecomically or politically.

Doveda be a good girl and make daddy proud.be the best you can be.dont limit yourself..be the next hilary clinton of nigeria.
I don't want to be Hilary Clinton!sad

Daddy does not mindsad. A full time housewife is productive to her family and a productive family makes a productive society.

lols.seems you're a daddys girl.remember you mentioned back up as a justification for schooling from dad view.what back up will an unproductive housewife render to her father?.for me i believe if my girl child desire to be a ful house wife.there is no need sponsoring her advance studies.the basic and post are ok for a housewife because advance studies will be useles to her.dnt you think
Back up as in if I got tired of housework or some other job.

I am a daddy's girl. No, they are not. What about her kids?

A housewife is productive!!! She is productive to her family and to the society a largesad

you mentiond empowerment.which is what i have being making emphasis on.this thread is abt empowering women.the feminist movement didnt canvass for women to be full house wives but to empower them politically, socially and economically SO AS TO BE SELF DEPENDENT .so what is your point
I have never referred to myself as a feminist

Empowerment is but one of the reasons for going to school. And staying home all day, should not make you less empowered. Some women feel empowered when they do things for the family not for the money. I do not believe that empowerment means earning your own especially in a setting where both partners do not mind sharing an income while the other partner provides the full family support.

You should also know that I do not mind house-husband smiley

But then how many married female Nigerian graduates do you know? I mean graduates that are not willing to work or have a career angry

what do you know about parenting skills.asking that question is quite germane becos why will i sponsor my girl child up to phd level only for her to become a full house wife of a rich man.does that makes sense to you..
Yes, it does.

For example, my dad does not care he wants me to graduate with good grades. he considers it his responsibility and once he is done with me. It is up to me to continue my life. He is also 100% confident of his parenting skills so he knows that either way I am not going to end up hopeless.

-pride
-a form of inheritance/empowerment
-back-up plan

I know you have good intention to defend women but you are doing it wrong.imf president said if majority of women contribute productivly to the economy that the world Gdp wil double it number.and op is stressing that women shld be productive for the betterment of everybody.

I'm sure it your defence mechnism against the op that is make you illogical..also this goes with both gender but there is need to make emphasis on the girl child
I am not married and I desire very much to be IN CONTROL however I understand that some women desire to exist for just their families. And I do not care. Do you know why? I had a working mum and when the days she stayed at home because of strike, I understand that it is as much of a big deal as having a job.

Yup, you read that right.

What a lie! the same SW i live? where are the jobs? go nd see how many married women crying for a capital 2 start something.I do get that it is not by choice dat most are jobless but also how many girls in Uni do jobs 2 support demselves? we need 2 start saying the truth!
I was in uni and while my parents could afford my needs,i didn't want 2 be jobless after service so i decided 2 learn hair making and nails.I was making girls hair in hostel ; i remember many of the girls telling me that they dont see why i am subjecting myself to such disgrace. My parents are capable of supporting me.Many of dem have fathers dat can't even afford a bicycle not 2 talk of a phone yet, they wont do anything to care for demselves, they busy flashing the latest phones and clothes.keeping numerous boyfriends to sponsor their habits.
Education is knowledge and everyone has the right to be educated. But the problem is not education here, the problem is women craving for bigger things in life without trying to work for them.many are giving examples of everyday women out there. The women who works in farm 2 feed their family, the woman who are hawking breads and bananas daily. There are 3 types of women in nigeria.
-the hard working one,who actually strive 2 be successful and stop at nothing 2 achieve it even without a white collar job.
-the hard working woman who have no choice dan to settle for menial jobs just 2 take care of their families
-the entitled ones who sit at home and expect manna 2 fall from heaven just because they are female and have a kitty.
Who let you loose?

As for married graduates who sits at home doing nothing. Go to South Eastern part of Nigerian where I came from, you will find them in numbers.

I don't have the right to stop you from making your choice, I'm only saying that reducing women to a mere kitchen attendants and sex products is bad.
Why don't I believe you?

I come from the SW, if a lady isn't in school then she must be under an apprenticeshipundecided

No woman in their right senses would seek out poor/struggling dudes before the rich ones.
Sorry guys but that is the truth.
Educated or not educated, Nigerian women will always seek out men that can take care of their financial needs.
Why?
Because the misogyny in Nigeria will always keep women from being too ambitious or independent so unless it goes away then the habit of women looking for rich guys will endure.
Consider the following:
In Nigeria,
Women cannot have too much money if not people assume she sleeps around or is a prostitute.
Women cannot spend too long getting educational degrees before marriage because they will grow old and less attractive and not be able to find a husband and everyone knows that in Nigeria getting a husband is compulsory for any woman that wants to be socially accepted.
Women should not have more money than their husbands because then they will not be 'submissive' humble, simpering waifs so ladies in search of husbands look for men who are more wealthy to marry thereby making it like women are lazy or golddiggers who are always in search of men that can take care of them.

Guys accept it and move on kwo?
Because when well wishers come out to try and change the status quo and encourage ladies to have ambition instead of focusing on marriage alone, you people will start foaming at the mouths and calling them man hating feminists.

Carry your fvcking cross you misogynistic pieces of s$hit.
Especially not in a society where a man can get away with almost everythingundecided......where a woman ambitions can jeopardise her marital lifeundecided

Personally, I am not saying women should seek money but who the hell are you to tell them what they should or should not consider?undecided
