Marriage I understand. A child's birthday I don't. It is the child that is marking her/his birthday. It is not compulsory to celebrate and if and when you do, the child must be allowed to enjoy his day with his peers. Adults come to eat, gossip and that is it. There is little or nothing they can do to make the day of the celebrant special. The child camnnot understand the purpose of being there. However an adult who is getting married is capable to understand things like that. It is merely another excuse to prove what is not.
