I had to go back and trace the day you posted this vacancy @Mr Eremy, just to say thank you....been coming to this page ever since May this year to apply for vacancies...at a point, I wanted to lose hope but I still held on...Applied for this one for the post of Event Manager and just hoped and prayed as usual...was called for d interview end of September and by God's grace, out of close to 10people that came for d interview, I was called and asked to resume training...I presently am done with the training and awaiting confirmation as a full staff but believing the job's already mine, I decided to come here and show my immense gratitude..Mr Eremy, I don't know who u are, dunno if we've ever met before..but I just want to say here that you will never want for anything in your life..this good work you do here will surely be rewarded a zillion fold by God Almighty that I serve..Amen....to all nairalanders who view this page daily, I'll just say here that y'all should never despair..the God that answered me and gave me a job when everyone is crying "recession" will surely grant each and everyone of you your desired jobs...keep checking dis page, people...the jobs here are 100% real!!!!

Let me share something with you tonight before I retire for the night.

Believing you have a job even when you can't see it in reality is the first step. You are too consumed by your present unemployed state that even your dp advertises it. You can't keep showing off your lack of a job and think the world will rush to your aid if you put up a pity show.

Stand on your strength. Talk about what you can do for people to get paid for money. Put up a picture of where you want to work. I have loads of company pictures on my phone gallery by the way. Look at beautiful pictures and visualize yourself in that world. Live life happy!

I always tell myself that whoever I work for is fortunate. Whoever rejects me, their loss not mine. That, keeps me going. I'm no liability. Get to that point and if you find no job to do, render service to the needy. You'll be rewarded.

I've seen oldies retrenched.
And wisdom has taught me that it's not in playing eye service. Only start what you can finish.

Whether you make the best tea or you carry your boss' bag from his car to his desk, when the day of reckoning comes and you are found wanting, you'll be kicked out.

My take on this is;
Work hard, take your job like it's your personal business and never ever put yourself at risk of being fired!

dear op, if there is one thing employers have found out, it is good grades in paper doesn't translate to effiency and productivity in real life - everyone deserves a chance.

I graduated with a 2 2 in elect engr. and I am gainfully employed - close to 4 million per annum.

Build your confidence, be a refined graduate, know almost everything - that is, don't be lost in any conversation. have an idea about everything - football, politics, science, art, religion, music, just anything, even what you don't have interest on, please know alittle about them. You don't know who you will meet tomorrow. life is all about learning new things everyday. I am not a football fan but I know Leister defiled the conventional 4 giants in premier league to be champion this season. I do wrestling more.

I went for an interview when I was still looking for job and believe me, the discussion changed and it seemed I know alot about everything. get exposed to information and don't be scared to accept your flaws and have positive attitude to it.

He asked me "Arthur, your maths is good, your reasoning is good but you are terrible in advanced Microsoft excel"

My response "Sir, I know I am terrible in excel and I acknowledge that, it maybe because as an engineer I never felt excel was something I should give more attention to but I am a very fast learner and I challenge you in two weeks, you will not make that remark about me anymore".

I left that office, called up my girlfriend (now my fiancee) who is a pro in using excel. she trained me and I learnt so well. The next month, I was called for another interview and my excel greatly improved.

bottom line is, I got the job. It is all about your confidence and a strong belief you have in yourself. build that confidence and belief if you haven't, You are going to need alot of them in this crazy situation of job hunting.

Finally, develop your skill and package it so well. when you go to interview, forget your grade and focus on what you have to offer the company. God bless you.
