Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 5:30pm On Jun 27, 2013
@OneQuestion sorry mate but information on army medics is hard to get,my suggestions is that the Army medics of a country will be about as good as their logistics command, and for most African militaries, will be integrated into it. Military info is really hard to get in Africa.

@saengine. If the Navy are ordering the corvettes without torps, aam, and AShM and even radar, then its most likely that they intend to incorporate systems from other makers to the ship.Remember that the ship is nothing more than a battle platform esp since the design is modular. The important thing here is that the navy wants warship building capacity for corvet size ships.
http://www.shipsandports.com.ng/news.php?id=690 below is an extract....
“The idea is to convince the political masters to see the need for an offshore patrol vessel which the Navy has often reiterated at a lot of functions”.
He explained that while the first will be constructed in France, the others will be built in Nigeria by the naval dock yard thus making the country a hub for the construction of future OPV in the West Africa sub region...... And if other African countries within the sub region will need to purchase such an OPV class of ship then the construction will be done in our dockyard, which means the Nigerian naval dockyard will now be the hub for the construction of future Offshore Patrol Vessels of that class for navies in the West Africa sub region,”
and this http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24719&Itemid=106
Nigeria’s 2012 Defence Budget Proposal allocates N6.78 billion/US$42 million for the two offshore patrol vessels. The first will be built in China while about 50% of the second ship will be constructed in Nigeria in an effort to enhance local shipbuilding capability and provide technology transfer.

@zetdee There is no where in the officials quote that he said security is the problem. You have been misled by the journalists article.
If you read from the quotes you will see that the official acknowledged the role of Nigeria in the sub-region but said that the itinerary simply did not include Nigeria. Their aim was to cover west, east and south Africa carrying specific messages in the time they had.

@souldust The Nile is Egypt's life blood,it brings mineral rich soil from the mountains of East Africa and dump it on the Nile Delta,This soil is essential for Agriculture in Egypt,if it stops coming Egypt cant maintain its Large population food and water wise.Simply put there will be hunger, riots and internal disorder.

@craigB that post does not make sense read my post again.i said i quote our people, your quote comes from the world bank, which was requoted by a journalist.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 5:04pm On Jun 21, 2013
@craigB the deference between my post and yours is that one quotes international agencies (your post)while the other quotes the man on the ground (my post)who is being assessed.Who is bound to know if Nigerians live on a dollar a day?The arm chair economist in a far away nation or the man that spends $5-$10 on food a day. undecided
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 4:47pm On Jun 21, 2013
Understand this,The so called spy drones are not spy drones cause they can not operate in a hostile environment. Can the global hawk operate in Russia? Even the global hawk will be shot down by a scrambled jet in any decent country once it is detected by radar no SAMs needed."THE ONLY TRUE SURVEILLANCE DRONE IS A STEALTH SURVEILLANCE DRONE". Have you heard of geostationary orbit? NIGCOMSAT1R, is in geostationary orbit over the coast of Somalia at the moment. http://www.satflare.com/track.asp?q=38014#TOP
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 4:20pm On Jun 21, 2013
@andrewza The predator drone is the primary Armed drone of the U.S. and the one being deployed in targeted killing of taliban,al-qaeda and their associates. But to make it easier for you.The only "TRUE" battlefied reconnisance drone is the RQ-170 Sentinel if i am right. This is because its a stealth drone. The RCS of most so called spy drones make it impossible for stealth work in enemy airspace where you don't have air superiority, even their speed means they can be shot down by simple shoulder mounted SAMs.Iran even claimed to shoot down a sentinel. If you do have air superiority then drones are an option. However satellites give you unhindered access to enemy positions even if you dont have air superiority. In short most "reconnaissance drones being sold are for defence, border patrol etc.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 3:59pm On Jun 21, 2013
@ andrewza i didn't say most drones are armed. i said that the drones in most use by the U.S.(powers that be) are Armed Drones. The Armed drones come with target acquisition.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 3:42pm On Jun 21, 2013
Spy drones are the poor man's satellite,Neither the U.S nor Russia use drones for spying in truth. The drones used by the U.S. in large numbers are Armed drones. That is a different kit altogether. You cant use spy drones in a hostile territory without air superiority cause they are not designed to outmaneuver SAMs.Only china and the U.S. at the moment are known to have recently acquired the capability of shooting down satellites from space.Jamming or hijacking is still the preferred method.

@agaugust
Simply military tactics will be to attack logistic support for the troops.cut out their anti-retro viral(HIV) supply, and they will become too weak to fight.

The thread is about The African Armed forces, but South Africans logged and sat on the thread snuffing out its African focus
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by dragon2(m): 7:55pm On Jun 20, 2013
Wow,South Africans think we are obsessed about South Africa because we talk to South Africans about their country, but, they can't see they are obsessed with Nigeria by logging everyday to a Nigerian forum to talk about Nigeria.A case of self delusion.

Did you read the entire tread or did you start in the middle?. The tread starts with frosbels assumption that Egypt was the strongest but many inputs from others suggested other nations including SA.The entry of South Africans into the tread suggesting they are the best lead to scrutiny of the SANDF.Nobody was particularly interested in SA before that.My links suggest that the SANDF as a "FORCE" is no-where near the top in Africa, and i am requesting answers from those who dispute this.Do you understand?
You seems as interested in Nigeria as you claim Nigerians are in SA,if not you would have left a "Nigerian Forum" by now.
