i am not really in support of ICBMs. it is entirely useless if you dont have nukes, chemicals and /or biological weapons and you need huge stockpiles and sophisticated delivery systems. You also need ballistic subs to act as deterent because you can be assured that your enemy will have his own ICBMs pointed on your launch sites at all times ready to fire at any moment to wipe them out before you can launch. The logistics to have hundreds of ICBMs prepared to launch at any moment is huge and expensive and will cripple many economies.Better to focus efforts at missile defence systems. |
@andrewza check your sources: dailytrust? premiumtimes? lol those are not credible/trusted/tested papers in Nigeria. They never say anything positive and are sensationalist. To quote them make sure you have multiple sources.Your fox news articles talk about the failure of the 'prison service' and the quick response of the military and the co.za link is down. They prob decided the story is false. |
error check: i rushed that migration data (-) on the chart means emigraton.i.e people leaving. as a result pls check this link http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=sf&v=27 |
another statement with no facts,classic S.A |
@Msauza you just proved you dont watch Nigerian movies |
Nigeria's NET migration rate http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=ni&v=27 notice its negative.that is more people are entering nigeria than those leaving.*modification. Leaving Nigeria than entering.Still migration hovers at +/-1 |
i brought you facts to prove your statement wrong, bring facts to prove me wrong otherwise admit error, rather than the classic S.A. tactic of bringing up new statements. |
Ghana was, until 2010, using a 1993 base year. When its statistical office revised its base year in 2010, GDP estimates rose by over 60 percent, meaning previous estimates had ‘missed’ about $13bn of economic activity. Nigeria’s base year for national accounts is even older, set at 1990. An upward revision is pending, based on a 2008 base. Recent reports suggest Nigeria’s GDP could increase at least much as Ghana’s. If that happens, GDP for the whole of sub-Saharan Africa could rise by 15 percent or more (Nigeria accounts for 18 percent of the region’s total GDP). “The value of the increase accrues to nothing less than 40 economies roughly the size of Malawi’s. The knowledge that currently there are 40 ‘Malawis’ unaccounted for in the Nigerian economy should raise a few eyebrows,” says Jerven. http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/analysis/columnists/49881-africa-underestimating-gdp |
@ Msauza the reason why Nigeria's poverty rate is not accepted is because it is believed to be LOWER.The reason is simple, our GDP is underestimated,as you yourself said 150mil people earning less than 50mil should have very high poverty rate, but the reverse is the case. The reason any Nigerian can answer,we have a super huge informal sector that is not reported to the Government. That is why the re-basing going on is taking so long as the Government crisscrosses the country accounting for businesses.it is expected that Nigeria's GDP should rise by 40%-50% after re-basing just as it happened in Ghana. Ghana rebased from 1993.Nigeria is re-basing from 1990 when there was no such thing as nollywood by the way. |

@bcraig That video said nothing, the U.S. gives the whole of Africa millions of $$$ in monetary aid every year/check out the 2011 monetary and military aid to SouthAfrica compared to Nigeria. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_foreign_aid if you say we sold out ourselves who is worse? What did we sell out?The video says nothing, what a waste of time. That is a poor video. |

nice pics |
@craig am sure you are proud of mugabe right? Gadaffi is a bit mugabe and Africa have to protect these dictators, and you hate mandela, cause he supported western sactions against Nigeria over the trial and death of saro wiwa by abacha, or am i wrong? or are you confused in ideology? Nigerians living in libya were rounded up and called terrorist infiltrators working for gadaffi a classic propaganda to show they were progressing in their war campaign |
@craigb lol, sold who out? The libyans or gadaffi? i suggest you freshing up on your diplomatic skills.do you know about.nigerians in libya?Try finding out how many nigerians lived in libya before the war.Arabs are good at propaganda,if you can add up my words then we have an undetstanding.Nigeria sent no force to libya. |
@andrewza you may be right your country wanted a peaceful end.i am prepared to accept that, but pres. zuma going to libya, visiting gadaffi and touring the capital with him -while the libyan people watched as their children died -was very poor.He was( together with the others ) used as a propagander tool. That is a very weak political position. He should have been better advised to deligate it to a deputy. i'll stop here so as not to derail the tread. |

@andrewza and bcraig did you both read my post? lining up with either side is a disaster.if you side the revolution arms will flow into the subregion and destabilise it ,as obasanjo said and it happened, but that is what the people wanted.sideing with gadaffi is opposing libya because THE PEOPLE ARE LIBYA not gadaffi a dictator. The best political move is to side international law and call on an intervention force to stop the killings, cause neither side had the legitimate right to kill. That is why the west had to legitimise the benzagi government before it could arm them.As i said S.A commited political suicide and has lost libya.Because the people are libya. |
@ bcraig oh! i am sure the libyan people today will always praise south-africa for the leadership role it played in protecting gadaffi while his troops slaughtered innocent protesters.Libya will roll out the carpet when zuma decides to visit huh?Whom do you think they will welcome Nigeria or SA?That affair was a first class political blunder by S.A.The fact is that the only true solution is an intervention force to stop the bloodshed cause both sides in the conflict were wrong according to international law. This western allies enforced their agenda in libya, but (the big but S.A. did not see) the libyan people wanted it so. |
@ agaugust The info really isn't mine but is free online via the link given,(ships and ports)but if you still need it pls go ahead ![]() |
One thing i will definitely like to see is Africans helping each other in their defence industry rather than being a dumping ground for war-mongering-weapon-contractors from Europe and Asia that find business by causing wars. For example,Nations like Nigeria,SA and Kenya should contribute about $100million dollars/year each to a fund that will go to developing a multirole 4G fighter in the way Germany, France, UK, Italy and Spain came together to create the Eurofighter Typhoon, and if the west should say its a waste of scarce resources we remind them they keep quiet when the money goes to them. The 3 nations can divide the development of Engine,Aeronautics,Weapon system and electronics among themselves and share the know-how gained.Ultimately they can manufacture the jets independently and parts can be sourced from the 3 nations.I did not include Nations like Egypt,Algeria,Morocco and Ethiopia because of the fact that it wont work cause they have feuds amongst themselves or with others.I firmly believe if this is done,in 10 yrs we would have a capable jet and the know-how to build future jets. Its all about pooling resources. Its better to be capable nations in the world than fighting over who is the big fish in our small African pond. |
