Imagine some other advanced civilization mapped the earth about 1 billion years ago, if they hadn't discovered life elsewhere, they might also conclude that they'd be alone in the universe. The diversity of life on earth alone is enough for you know know that that diversity cannot be limited to the earth alone. Scientists have theorized that in any star system, life can evolve in the Goldilocks zone or habitable zone i.e not too close or too far from the sun for the availability of water. Water as we know it is necessary for evolution of life but we may also be wrong because the universe constantly breaks our laws of physics. What's to say it won't do the same for our laws of biology
