I saw in HiLearners blog that the probability of Ui conducting their PostUtme earlier(around July--August) this year is very high(as against last year's which was conducted around October).

So being a slow reader,I got thrilled by the news.I bought Understanding chemistry and I have been reading it for a month now without being able to finish it.Though I understood 80% of all that I have read.
Also I bought Idodo Umeh biology but the textbook is damn big!

I read from morning till night but at the end of the day I feel as though I have not covered much. The next day,I brace up and study even harder......still the same experience(especially with chemistry and physics)....but if I read other books like novels,I could finish it at most within two days and understand everything no matter how voluminous it is.

Bosses here I need your help.Even on the fact that I am going for a very competitive course,I want to inculcate and internalise in me,....THE HABIT OF SWIFT AND EFFECTIVE STUDIES....

Let us take it that the examination is coming up in August...,how do I finish and at the same time absorb everything I need to pass this PostUtme using these textbooks within this short time interval...
BIOLOGY:Explicit,Modern and Idodo Ume.
CHEMISTRY:Understanding,Lamlad,New school
PHYSICS:lamlad,Principles of physics,A-level physics and New school physics.

English is not much of my problems as I can finish it within a week.

..OK bro...the nuclei has d same mass but there half life is different..N/No = 1/2 (t/t1/2)...No is constant for both...
Np/No= 1/2^ 20/10..= {1/2}^ 2..Np/No= 1/4...Nq /No..= {1/2}^20/5...= {1/2}^4....Nq/No =1/16...
No cancel cos its d same for both....so
Np/Nq = {1/4 } ÷{1/16}...open d bracket..
Np/Nq= 1/4 × 16/1...
Np/Nq = 4/1 or 4 : 1....you can use this formula for any radioactive calculation..you just need to understand d question..

Answer to question number one is 30 days.

Analysing the question, the material has a half-life of 10 days. Going by definition of half-life, it's the time taken for half of a material to decay. (Did I get the definition right?).
Meaning, disintegration
*From 4.0g—2.0g it took 10 days.
*From 2.0g—1.0g took another 10 days.
*From 1.0g—0.5g took 10 days.
N.B- The mass decreases by half of its original mass.

It took 30 days for the material to disintegrate 3.5 of its 4.0g mass. Or, it took 30 days for the material to retain 0.5g of its 0.4g. I hope this could help??.

As for the second question, that will be later. Typing...

Yes...really helpful.......Thanks a lot.

Don't worry yourself about the second question......I have been able to solve it.My answer to it is B(27 days)..........I hope am right

...answer should be A.....4mp> MX...when different masses are added, energy is released...E= mc^2...some of the mass of the added proton is converted to energy...the energy is called binding energy.....normally,we know that all nuclei have lesser mass than the sum of individual nucleus that form them...

Damayogenius18:
.....for no 1...you can do it did way without calculator....
N/No = 1/2 ^n ...where n= half-life/timtaken to disintegrate...I.e
n =( t1/2)/t....N= number of nuclei dat has disintegrated...No= Number of nuclei originally present....in this question, No=4g while N = 4 - 3.5 = 0.5...be careful here...a lot of ppl make sis mistake...3.5g is the no that has disintegrated while 0.5g is no remaining....so we have
0.5/4 = 1/2^n...0.5= 1/2..so we can say
(1/2 * 1/4)= 1/2^n
1/8 =1/2^n..now we use index form
2^-3 = (2^-1)n...2 on each side cancel remaining the powers..so
-3 = -n...so...n= 3.....
But remember that n = (t1/2) /t...t = 10 days...so
T1/2 = t * n...= 3 * 10days
= 30 days.....
U can do the second question dis way too....but der are some complicates one u cant do dis way
But I dont think UI can set dat in post utme
It is very simple and easy to do dis way...the reason it is too long is because am explaining.....
Hope u found it useful...

Yesss!.......I've got it.......Thanks a lot.

My answer to number 2 is B(27 days)

A for

D with

2. Bisola should not have taken

comments.

A innocuous
B ludicrous
C ridiculous
D notorious

Samsonyte:

No 1 question is correct, but pls can you explain why u choose option A.

There are two reasons for which I chose option A as the answer to question number 2.
FIRST:Let us look at the definition of the words involved...
(A) Innocuous = HARMLESS,not intended to offend or upset anyone.
(B) Ludicrous = UNREASONABLE,ABSURD,RIDICULOUS,that you cannot take seriously.
(C) Ridiculous = ABSURD,LUDICROUS,very silly or UNREASONABLE(synonym of Ludicrous).
(D) Notorious = well known for being bad.

When you take a cursory look at these words and their meanings, you will notice that option (A) depicts a positive action while others depicts a negative action.A word is positive if it brings a sense of morality, fairness or fortune, while, A word is negative if it is obscene or immoral or if it shows misfortune.
Therefore, using The Elimination-by-status method of determining the answer to a question like this, I deduced that OPTION A is the answer.

SECOND : The question is saying that Bisola should not have taken offence at Emeka's words(which supposedly is not worth taking offence at).
Now let us look at it this way....
(A) If Emeka's words were INNOCUOUS,which means 'harmless', then, there is no way you can tell me that Bisola will take offence at harmless words.
(B) If Emeka's words were LUDICROUS which means 'unreasonable',then Bisola should be justified for taking offence at Emeka's unreasonable words.
(C) If Emeka's words were RIDICULOUS, which means 'very silly',then Bisola should be justified for taking offence at Emeka's silly words.
(D) If Emeka's words were NOTORIOUS which means 'always bad', then Bisola is justified to take offence at Emeka's bad words.

Summarily,
Bisola should not have taken offence at Emeka's harmless(Innocuous) comments.

ivumar:

sorry to disturb bro,but how is Dolapo74's answer correct?... mind you, the question is a logical one. They were asking you of " which element/compound"... So I don't see a reason why the answer should be an atom. Also, the question asked about bacteria in general,,not just anaerobic bacteria. So if at all oxygen attacks anaerobic bacteria(Which I don't even think is possible), i don't think it will attack aerobic bacteria. So it should be a compound or an element as the question rightly asked. I think the answer is A. Or what do you think?

A is the answer.
In the first place, oxygen does not exist as an atom and the question is asking you which ELEMENT or COMPOUND.....So,I think ivumar is very correct.

You can google it and confirm.
