marco74:One of the most interesting books Ive read is how to make money in stocks by J Oneil.(Investopaedia classifies him as one of the ten greatest investors of all time) In it he draws conclusion based on 40years of data in the US mkt. He found that %increase in earnings per share and not PE is the most important for some of the stocks that have had the most amazing runs in history. That said for those in Cileasing already its good(cant say how bad the effect of new share listing will be).Cant say u should enter now sha. |
U can see from law Union ; the point at which it did a flag(though not classic )and the dist it has gone upside after breakout. Comments welcome

INSURANCE COYS SET FOR PUBLIC OFFER Proshare News and Analysis Insurance firms set to approach the capital market Posted Sunday, January 27, 2008 With fierce competition in the financial services industry gathering momentum, insurance companies may have come to realise that the new minimum capitalisation in the industry has become inadequate hence operators are making frantic arrangements to raise additional funds from the capital market. Besides, The Guardian gathered that the general acceptance of insurance stocks in the capital market may also have been another reason why the underwriting companies are eager to take advantage of the support of investors to further raise their capitalisation level above the statutory requirement. As a result, a number of the underwriting companies has concluded arrangements perhaps awaiting regulatory approval to launch out before the end of the first quarter of this year. In the league include Niger Insurance Plc, AIICO Insurance Plc; Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Linkage Assurance Plc among others. For instance, shareholders of Linkage Assurance Plc, at the company's yearly general meeting held early this year in Lagos, approved the board's special resolution to raise additional capital for the company. The resolution stated that the directors be authorised to raise additional capital for the company in anyway the directors deem fit including by way of a private placement, by issuing shares up to the maximum limit of the authorised share capital of the company. The chairman of the company, Mr. Babatunde Falayi-William said at the meeting that "the need for the additional fund was to offer to our clients world class insurance services through a highly motivated and professional team, applying the state of the art technology to maximise returns on shareholders investments." Similarly, Niger Insurance Plc is set to raise additional N6 billion in the capital market before the end of the first quarter to fortify its operations. Specifically, the shareholders had approved the special resolutions of the directors to issue by way of public offer for subscription and/or rights issue at a date and upon terms and conditions as the directors may in their discretion determine. The Managing Director/CEO, Niger Insurance Plc, Mr. Justus Clinton Uranta who spoke to The Guardian confirmed the need to source for additional capital to enhance operational capacity. Said he: "When you look at foreign investors coming into Nigeria with 5 million and when you convert that into naira, it makes nonsense of what we have here at the moment. Since we are thinking of playing global, we must match what people from other countries that you are going to compete with are also having, if not beating them so that they will know that you are a strong company. As a matter of fact, strong companies are coming to add value to the economy. The second reason is that we do not want to remain at the minimum capitalisation because the danger is that it is not good to allow your company to be statute driven, that is, for the government to always dictate for you." According to the Niger Insurance boss: "This would closely align our company with developments in the economy in order to sustain our commanding profile in the country's economy by maintaining and sustaining our brand attributes of strong financial capacity, high earnings capacity, growth and profitability." Also, a source at the corporate head office, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc said that the company would be going to the capital market before the end of the first quarter to source for N10 billion to strengthen the financial capacity of the company. He said: "The board of the company has approved that the company should source for additional N10 billion in the capital market before the end of the first quarter to strengthen our financial capacity as a major player in the industry to be able to exploit opportunities in the local content policy as well as meet challenges in the financial services sector." - Guardian |

@ Wanajo C u re online. I just placed an order for diamond and Ngc for today or friday Reasons: Diamond ; I think impact of Actis funds should begin to show from Q3 n Q4. They ve still got a rel low PE compared to peers even after Gdr Looking at 8 months. NGC; Low PE, maybe a bonus. Also looking at 6-8mths. Hoping to do 50-100% will be ok. What do u think |
Welcome back wanajo. HOW WAS CAMP. THE NEXT LEVEL. I wont be left out myself. All the best of God's guidance next year to the whole house. |
grabdaloot:The last 4-5 pages have beensome of the most educating. We are also quite a no of doctors here o. Now I now there are really deep pockets here. @grab da loot Can I share from ur wealth of experience. Ur stockpicks > My email is drdaniel04 at yahoo.com. Thanks. @ Aktopgun Congrats on ur baby. The comraderie shown on this forum is amazing!!! |
@ wanajo "On DSR, it is undervalued, relatively low PE with expansion/growth expected in 2008. That should help the bottomline. Yes the quarterly dividend is an issue but going forward, the market will definitely recognise its value. Also in a bearish market, don't expect it to take a hit. on First Bank, yes I've factored in the dilution. By the time Q1 2008 result is out, FBN will skyrocket. They will definitely exceed the forecast in the prospectus. FBN has all and more that Zenith and co has. Look at there branch expansion strategy, look at the money from Western union, look at the deployment of the N250bn raised. Come 2008, expect a mind blowing performance from First Bank. Now if they recover part or all of the N10bn from the IIL saga. WAPCo, not too bullish about them. Good stock, good company but not well favoured. Loss of the MD to Obajana is also not a good sign." Thanks for the insight. Apreciated. |
@ oga wanajo "DSR and First Bank should be money spinners in 2008. They are positioned for great things." I consider ur opinion well well. I share some common convictions wit u( also a pastor) What are ur reasons for selecting these stocks and what time frame and price level do u project they will achieve. I know DSR is trading at a low PE and expansion is likely. But what of this quarterly dividend thing that stunts their performance. For FBN;dont u think the dilution from over subcription will affect this yr perf. What s ur take on Wapco. Actually Ive got a facility I want to invest for a 8-12mths So I m looking for the best one or at most two. Will apreciate other contributors. Welldone to everryone who has made this forum alive. Wishing us a bullish 2008. |
easimoni:Thanks for the info. We cant be tired. Im just trying to decide (like many others) so we need all the info. I just got Wema at 10.80 few days bak. @easi what price did u enter averagely. Im thinking of exiting now to enter at a lower price. What do you think. Other opinions welcome. If what they ve said in this article is anything to go by, Wema will be worth it going forward. I'm disappointed with the MD .Why will he say they have"haywire results " when he knew they were going to write off risk asssets. Any way He s tried, in clearing these bad loans(80% of them) during his two yrs at the saddle and they seem set for a good future. The lower the more attractive it gets Imagine Tunde Lemo who was MD during the time some of these loans were awarded now Director of Banking supervision at CBN. What a paradox? |

, you are joking right??. Before finally deciding to break my vow of silence I have been sitting on the fence for some time and I have noticed all the complaints someone really has a deep pocket on these pages. Its hard to believe but it is ture. Might not be a blogger but just an observer. Folks here are pretty much on top of their game when it comes to the stock market. Anyway after I have completed my buy orders, I'll check your profile and email you my own views. But hey I am no expert and don't know your investment objectives (capital gains, institutuional or dividend hunters) for all I know you might be the deep pocketed fella
