thanks much, they’ll surely be a relegation candidate I just hope Taiwo can get double digit goals so he wouldn’t have to go down with them
They are doing good business though. Also, historically, playoff teams usually do better than direct teams because the playoffs give more money for transfers.

If they can keep Djed Spence, I think they will survive. Remember, they beat Leicester and Arsenal last season in the FA Cup.

Guaranteed, Aribo is moving to the Premier League this summer, but Forest are not alone. Fulham, Palace are also there, Forest just offered the more salary.

For a player who played the most positions of any Nigerian (alongside Iwobi) over the last two years, I don't think he can flop anywhere.
Aribo has played LB, CAM, CM, DM, ST, RW, LW over the last two years.

Iwobi has played RWB, LWB, CM, RB, CAM, RW, LW over the last two years.

Versatility.

The nature of the pitch is another factor.. Ours is natural grass..In European, it's mostly synthetic grass they use.. Nature grass pitches can handle so much pressure like that...
I still wonder why they didn't use synthetic grass for the Abuja stadium...If Enyimba could do it, Abuja too can...
Untrue. Europe uses only natural grass.

Using natural grass is easy. It is all about maintenance. You need to maintain a pitch weekly. You need proper drainage and irrigation systems, proper grass replacement etc. In Nigeria, we just think setting a pitch is sufficient, and that is why our pitches deteriorate.

Taaaaa!!!! No be hype.

Afcon came and he flunked and I flogged his performances. It was shambolic. I called it as it is.

But Post-Afcon, the lad was simply "reborn". He became a rejuvenated Creature under Lampard. His workrate especially has taken a huge climb. His performance indexes speak for him.

Dude is on fire. And trust me.. I am again saying it as it is. So no Iwobi slander shall be tolerated from thee unless it is well deserved.

So keep your carpentry-survey lights off him. grin
The only real positive I took from this game was our press in the second half. The press was so organized, directed and lethal, it caused mistakes that led to several chances including Chukwueze’s one on one.

Iwobi was at the heart of that press.

I have always said that if Iwobi can add end products and intensity to his game, he would be a very good player. Lampard has helped him gain intensity, with time we will see if his end product is sustainable.

The best two man attack in my opinion based on what we have in camp.
This reminds me of Onuachu x Osimhen in Benin. Osimhen running the channels and creating chances/space for Onuachu to pounce on. Only this time, you have someone who is miles ahead of both Osimhen and Onuachu at link up play and ball to feet.

I can't wait to see us harvest.

Why won't I have brought up that stat? It was very necessary as I have even mentioned it in another post addressing Simon's wing performances of late. Perhaps some of you are okay turning a blind eye to some faults in Simon's game post afcon.

Also, I mentioned it and I said I won't say more on it, didn't I?

Haven't your previous posts made the point you intended? Every other thing you are doing is unnecessary prolongation. The very thing I said I didn't want. So again, let it rest.
Also true.

Simon is too inconsistent to be a starter in our team.

For one, he loses possession too many times. Offers nothing aerially, is fast but not direct. Poor technical ability with shots and crosses.

I think it is actually a smart move.

We are world class in one area alone - CF.

Then, just overload that position and the quality of your players will pull you through.

E.g Norway plays 4-4-2 with Haaland and Sorloth who are the same type of striker. Uruguay with Cavani and Suarez. Etc.

No need to be romancing sexy wingplay like Eguavoen was doing. Just put your best players on the pitch and they will show why they are your best.

Top Eleven Super Eagles players with the best passing technique.

Kelechi Nwakali
Okechukwu Azubuike
Innocent Bonke
Chidera Ejuke
Oghenekaro Etebo
Alhassan Yusuf
Obinna Nwobodo
Raphael Onyedika
Moses Simon
Alex lwobi
Frank Onyeka
We might have different definitions of what passing is, then.

Nacho is the best passer on our team. Iwobi is close behind. No one else comes close. Maybe Bassey with long passes and crosses, and Aribo/Sadiq/Chuks occasionally here and there.

Do away with Troost ?
Are you serious about this ?
We don’t have commanding & experienced defenders like William
Do this and see how the team leaks goals
He didn’t make a mistake against Ecuador
The way you guys easily wish to throw out experienced and powerful centre backs baffles me. Who do you think fits that 6 position better than William
Troost is a poor man's Harry Maguire. He is too error prone to be a starting defender in any team with ambition.

If you start listing his errors that have cost us, we will not leave here today. Off the top of my head:

2018 WC PK conceded by hugging
2019 Afcon Algeria SF OG
Mexico friendly OG

and many more. Only Balogun error I can remember is the Madagascar one which was a poor back pass really from John Ogu.

I'm still surprised how Ecuador qualifies for every world cup above guys like Chile and Colombia. Even Peru too, I'm surprised how Peru does it. Shows that even CONMEBOL is not that difficult to navigate.

On a good day with a proper squad we should be beating those guys we played yesterday easy.

Go and watch again. U can't point out a single thing Semi did wrong in both matches.
Simple.

Semi Ajayi is not on Ekong's level. If we had a decent CB to pair up with him we would be doing very well.

He is fast, strong, good with clearances, decent on the ball, calm and level-headed. Rarely makes mistakes. Very Balogun-like defender.

Pair him with Bassey who is more attack-minded, better with long balls, no-nonsense and also faster and you will see results.

Both don't offer anything new to our striking set up.

However, if there were injuries or circumstances, who would you call up Dessers or Moffi?
Moffi has more potential, but he has been extremely poor for a while now.

Dessers is much more deserving.

Musa ahead of Ejuke?

I thought Musa said he will retire after the AFCON.
grin grin
We need to clean up that squad if we have ambitions.

Musa, Shehu, Omeruo need to go. Moffi should not be getting invites over Awoniyi, that was a mistake.

Bonke and Etebo are farmers. We need top class midfielders like Alhassan and Onyedika. I will even take Tijani over those guys.

Ekong and Balogun shouldn't be starting games at this level again. I would go with Zaidu, Bassey, Ajayi, Aina back 4 with Awaziem and Balogun as back up CB. Ekong should just be doing hypeman on the bench, he is too poor a CB. Poor man's Maguire.

With the number of strikers equal to the number of wingers, I think Peseiro is set on this 4-4-2 thing. My question though is, why was Nacho not invited then? We all know what Nacho offers, even as his work rate is poor. No one on our team is more technical, maybe Iwobi and sometimes Aribo and Sadiq comes close but that's it.

Dessers will retire Sadiq and Sadiq is not better than Awoniyi. Your order of preference is flawed.

If Dessers played in the low level slow and laboured Segunda Division he would probably be top scorer in the league with at least 20 goals+
Sadiq will play in La Liga, the best league in the world, next season. We will evaluate him then.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by drDoom3(m): 6:58am On Jun 03, 2022
The Mexico that beat us on Sunday got whooped 3-0 by Uruguay today. We are so far behind.

Going forward, we will need to make difficult choices. Ekong is not good enough, simple. We need to find a good CB or two along with Ajayi who is decent but not spectacular.

Moffi should forget about the National team in the near future. The competition is just so much better.

Dessers is good, but I don't think he can displace any of Osimhen, Sadiq, Awoniyi in that order when it comes to quality. When the guys arrive, he will find it difficult to get any gametime, though he may probably still be in the team.

Iwobi and Aribo can man that midfield. We just need an Ndidi back, or at least an Onyeka. I feel like this game was the best I've seen of Iwobi creatively in the SE, my guy gave at least 3 delicious through passes Moffi and Dessers squandered.

Simon is simply not good enough. He is not consistent, you don't know what you get from him. Also, he loses the ball way too much.

3-5-2 might work with Osimhen from what I saw today. If we had an Osi and say an Awo/Sadiq pair today, we might be seeing a different result. I was happy we created a lot of chances against a decent side, our bane in the past few years has been creating enough chances.

Overall we need to be more precise in our play. We have players who are good on the ball, so we need to play the ball on the ground and pass our way to our opponents' goal.

I told you people times without number that the huge price on Osimhen coupled with his African heritage would make any move away very difficult.

Lol… that’s funny.

Osimhen is not extending his contract at Napoli, they can’t force you to extend contract. Napoli has to cash out when it gets to 1 year left.

Takeaways:

Dessers is good. He should get more chances.

In that team today, only Aribo, Iwobi, Ajayi, Bassey, Awaziem, Dessers and Uzoho should be playing matches for Nigeria. The rest are not good enough to even get invited if we are looking to build a world beating team.

Simon's decision making is so abysmal, I don't know how a player that loses the ball with every two touches should be playing international football for Nigeria.

Ekong, business as usual.

Bassey is a baller on the ball. Off it there is a lot to be improved, especially with positioning. You can already see the TAA traits in his crossing and dribbling. Also, he is not as fast as he thinks he is, if he didn't learn that against Ghana he sure did today. Pace will not cover for poor positioning, and I hope he realizes that.

Moffi has a long long way to go. I was surprised not to see Awoniyi invited, he would have done much better.

The home based showed why they were home based. The Faisal guy (no. 7) tried though, although it is nigh impossible to play worse than what Bonke displayed today.

Peseiro has Rohr genes. Defend as long as you are not losing. We could have done much more if we started the first half the way we started the second half.
