EgunMogaji: It is not off topic, it's still automobile related.
I've never owned an R class and I tend to give opinions on models that I've personally owned. That being said, since it's a Mercedes then it's a buy for me.
All I can ask is that you "buy" the individual car, not the manufacturer or the seller.
In case you need a vehicle history report ---> https://www.nairaland.com/4460217/experians-autocheck-vehicle-history-report
Good luck. Thanks a lot for your comment. I get the individual car part very well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the history report check would be possible in this case as the said vehicle is in the middle east. Although the owner told me it's mostly maintained by the Mercedes dealership here, I'm not sure the dealership here shares its records with people in the U.S. |

Pick up location will be in Ibadan.
Edit: Not just one time parts, think more what can be a good continuous sales item for my shop. Hello sir. I will appreciate your views on a R Class 2007 model. Apologies for going off topic |

EgunMogaji: Apologies in advance. Most of my posts are not geared for newbies (I'm a lousy teacher and I don't pretend to be a good one).
Most of the posts that I make are to challenge like-minded technical people.
Do you have a Beetle that you don't use anymore or know of one that is for sale really cheap?
Think of the possibilities. Nice one sir. So many fond memories with this car. We had it for around 20 years. It just refused to die lol. Passed it to another person eventually. *sets up camp in thread* |

Wonder why I am never around when these kind of deals go down That's encouraging. Don't rue the missed chance so much. The deal didn't go down in Nigeria I'd be on the look out from now on though. That missed one still pains me |

Shagati: Finished product. You can see a near perfect reflection of the Triumph Speed Triple in the first pic Very nice! If u don't mind me asking, what was ur overall experience owning the car? I missed out on a nice looking one few days back. The cylinder head had a crack in and I thought of taking the risk. The owner sold it off for around 400k naira while I was still trying to get the 'bill' approved by 'senate' I keep imagining my fingers on the paddle shifters till now |

Enough excuses! So what do we have here?

My salute goes out to every car 'juggernaut' that's made the thread an interesting discovery so far. Mr. Gazzuzz, Mr. Egunmogaji, Mr. Lexus (I've been getting called that name recently lol), Mr. Lungwun, Mr. Bank, Mr. Dumo, to mention a few. @ Oga Gazzuzz I didn't know there was a name for what u advised me against about a year ago. I kept hearing ur voice reading the different definitions and explanations of 'demeanour' into my ears. *spreads mat inside the thread* |

nattybanta: DrDre1 9ja is really hmmm. But it's well. So unfortunate and painful especially when I consider what these guys are turning long stretches of deserts into with proper planning. Myself and some friends here debate the Nigerian setting once in a while and a few of them say Nigeria is a nice place to live. I don't argue with them o...I only remind them that they won't be turned away when they get to the airline counter to purchase their tickets to Nigeria. For now I prefer shouting "Nigeria will be better"...from a (seemingly) safe distance |

nattybanta: Who told u that there are no Jobs in UAE? when People are busy changing jobs and getting residence visas, if you don't get a job in UAE, then its either you were not prepared or maybe your village ppl traveled with you. your 90% is very very wrong. I had to read ur post twice. Wicked It's always a hard call to make for people to take such leaps. Nothing is sure in life. We win some and loose some...even with proper planning. Funny thing is some people won't even plan ahead but they get there and things fall in place for them while some with all their planning would still fail. That's why it's difficult to generalise. If u ask which is better for now...searching in an underdeveloped and unplanned nation with about 200 million people and searching in a developing and planned place like the UAE, my bet will tilt more to the latter for now cos Nigeria is just hmmm...Nigeria |

Beehandz: Good Day Gurus Please How can I process Qatar Tourist Visa for a week. With the relaxing of some rules some months back, there is more than one way to get this. For example, if u have a valid American visa, u can apply online for it. Another option is to get a Qatar resident permit holder with a qualifying work status who will sponsor u on a visit visa to come in. |

spartacus11: Is it a curse to be an African (Nigerian) Especially, why they dey use things hard us like dis, dis is my primary reason why I've refuse traveling to dis so called developed countries dis time around na dem know, make dey put any stumbling block wen dey like we dey come by fire by force, na dem sabi U are quite funny. This is not something that applies to Nigerians or Africans. It's just the way they run their country. If an European person comes with a Foreman work status visa, he will be limited the same way a Nigerian with same work status on his visa. |
Travel › Re: QATAR And UAE GENERAL VISA ENQUIRIES PART 2 by DrDre1(m): 1:01pm On Feb 25, 2018 |
oluwarichie: Implications like? The profession on the visa determines some of the things U can do with ur visa beyond just working. For example, some are not allowed to apply in driving schools, some can not apply for resident family visas for family members while in some cases some can only apply for visit visas but don't qualify to apply for resident family visas. So ask the person very well so u won't get stuck if u intention is to do some of those things after getting the visa. It's possible to change the profession on a visa after getting here but it has gotten harder over the years to do that. Even if the person has all the right paperwork for changing the profession on the visa, the ministry can still deny changing it without reason. |

Sherifatkeni: yes,pls Okay... You can get the 5 years work visa usually through someone on ground here or through an agent in Nigeria. It's only in very very rare cases that a company would consider recruiting a Nigerian from Nigeria directly and that's not been happening in recent years to the best of my knowledge as there's a kind of ban on new Nigerian visas. |

sheffyUTD: No sir. Content determines the cost Thanks...just a little apprehensive. A situation where someone can't have a clear financial projection of certain things is not helping really encouraging. I really appreciate your responses |
Autos › Re: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by DrDre1(m): 7:46am On Jan 06, 2018 |
sheffyUTD: Container is always more expensive to clear. For a fact, it is hard give a quote for a single vehicle in a container. Apart from this said explorer, what if other vehicles are just say 2003 where after paying duty, the money left would not up to 400k. Whereas, Terminal and shipping charges alone is around that figure and you need to pay for container deposit, and there are processes (Valuation, examination, releasing, Gate signing & Gatepass etc) before you will even think of getting anything at all. That means story will change later.
Container cost easily affect low year vehicles especially where other vehicles too are small, because there is little or no flexibility in term of negotiating duty as there are minimums you can go.
That is why I asked for other contents. I don't just give auote out of thin air, I do my calculation sir.
Thanks for the feedback. It helps Okay...I get your point. So is it possible to just clear the container directly instead of calculating on each item inside? I know that sounds kind of off though |
Autos › Re: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by DrDre1(m): 6:39am On Jan 06, 2018 |
sheffyUTD: 650k for the explorer except the years of others are higher (container cost has to be spread on the content) Hmm...I'm not sure I understand your point fully. Someone quoted 550k for the Explorer. You have given a quote with a difference of 100k. I didn't even mention if there would be other items in the container before the person gave the first quote. So if you are saying the cost of the container would be spread over all the contents, isn't that supposed to drive the cost lower? |
Autos › Re: Total Cost Of Clearing A Vehicle In Nigeria by DrDre1(m): 7:30pm On Jan 04, 2018 |
sheffyUTD: What are the other contents of the container sir Maybe another Chevy pickup truck with a small car on it if allowed. The cars will have a few household items inside probably too. It's a mix really but I'm trying to have an idea of what it would cost |
