Thanks, I am actually a huge dog lover, just haven't had the time nor space for one. Why get one if I can't take proper care of it right?. I actually do have the space now and with remote work as a result of COVID, looks like I might have the time for one as well.

To the answer: Thanks for taking time to respond, I've actually not read it anywhere though just a personal sentiment of mine.

Regardless, great job on raising both dogs as a first timer (I think I read that at the start of the thread?).

Yeah, it’s good to know that you’d be having a dog very soon

Males usually are sexually mature from 12-15 months the 18month wait is usually for Females because once they mate growth stops for them so it’s advisable to cross after 2 years(14months).

Beautiful dogs you have there Dreazy23, followed from page 1 and sorry about Roxy.

I'm looking at getting my first pup (well, first in many years) in a couple of months too. As much as I love Caucasians, I have decided to start with a Boerboel and after getting my people used to huge dogs I'd get a Caucasians as well and I have people to point me in the right direction grin.

Genuine question though: Judging by the timeline, I believe Rex will be about 12 months old now, isn't that young to start mating him? I'm generally of the opinion that dogs (male/female) should probably start breeding from 18 months and above (guess I just like then a bit more matured).

Thank you sir grin
I really hope you find a breed that suits you and all, you sound so much like a dog lover

Answer to your question: Rex is 13months as of now, I’ve not really found any info on stud to be crossed from 18months that was approve, I think it’s one of the many rumors in the dog word e.g raw feeding makes your dog aggressive. Please if I’m wrong, you can help spread the light on this more

Also placing him as a stud now doesn’t really mean a female is readily available rn, so he can still grow while he awaits availability. Thanks smiley

So I noticed he no longer eats the dry food I got him.
Optimax. I had to mix it with first choice canned meal. But I think that’ll run his stomach. Please I need what I can add to the dry food so it’ll be more soft and enjoyable. Thanks
What I did for mine was to soak in hot water for a minute and mix with meat or eggs that was sliced really small and he ate it. The running stomach is because of the change in diet

You don't think so? Meaning you are not sure. OK
That’s not a piebald

Judging by the picture, he's a pure breed Caucasian. He's Piebald Caucasian Shepherd.
I don’t think you can refer to ops cauc as a piebald Caucasian

thank you very much. He is eating the dry food but just a bit of it and leaves
I also want to know if he is a pure breed
Nice pup, instead of asking Nairalanders of his purity
I would suggest reviewing the parent pictures and see if they conform to the breed standard

And yes you re right grin i cant prove the nutritional content, since its now rocket science to deduce that
Intestines = protein, vitamins( selenium, calcium, e.t.c) unsaturated fat

Sharwa fish = protein, vitamin D, calcium, oil

Cow by product= fat, protein, vitamins

Bones = calcium

Veggies= vitamins

Not to talk of the already calculated formula of bingo dry food

But well its none of my business, i know what i am seeing from constantly feeding my pup the soup mixture plus bingo dry food.

If you can actually prep your dogs requirement then fine but generalizing it and say less than 1k will give you A more better diet plan With large quantity is absurd. Then gain if I works for you, it’s cool

You obviously didn't read the part where i said i add bingo puppy dry food to the mixture/soup....or you now want to tell me phosphorus isnt in bingo?
Also not saying its better than dry food( i too use bingo). Go back and read. can food is what i am disputing the quality.
I ll rather add the soup mix with dry puppy food, than dry puppy food with can food
It still boils down to choice though

With less than 1000( at least 1k will get you two can foods) you ll get this two pots

Contents
Chicken intestines
Cow by product
Sharwa fish
Biscuits bones
Veg

I haven't added veggies in the pic cos i have started steaming *

This will last a puppy days. Beat your chest and tell me can food is better than the below combo, tell me one nutrient missing here?

Again the only disadvantage is time to prepare. It takes me nothing to buy 3 catoons of can food but i am one that goes for optimal value therefor i repeat can food is a complete waste of resources if you study the nutrients properly u too ll discover the bitter truth, even most can food are made up of more grain(rice) that protein, then only make it appear in chunks so it ll look meaty.
Using less than 1000 depends on location, ops feeding is standard. research and calculations has been carried out but the manufacturers and their recipe contain everything a dog need to be healthy, no one is condemn your feeding routine but there’s no way you can prove really that your recipe contains all the required nutrient for a dog, do you know the glucosamine and calcium ratio contained in one serve? Or your soup. Do you know dogs need phosphorus to proper digest calcium?

P.s: there’s no way your 1000 soup is richer in nutrient than either wet or dry food

Your method is economical though

Lol you guys must be kidding me! Rott over pitbull??! FYI pitbull are band in some countries and not advisable for first time dog owner to start with. Pit bull would take down rott easily, pitbull so dangerous and temperamental that it could attack the owner! Not advisable for you to have a pitbull bros since you just a first time dog owner Rott is still okay to have around and with children! But pitbull!! Hell no! Pitbull is the kinda American police shoot first ask questions later..

Rotts are actually bigger and stronger, except you’re talking about an American bully which I will then understand. Also if you keep a rott(willing to fight) and a Pitbull (also willing to fight ) the Pitbull stands no chance.

Ops both dogs are great for security but rott are quite popular and bigger. P.s most people confuse a bully and a Pitbull.

Thanks, he has started eating the dry food bit by bit now, even without mixing it with anything. Noticed he only eats it when he is dead hungry though.

He will be 8weeks in three days time.

That’s nice, he’s still young; as he grows his appetite will improve sha

Thanks, even though I have tried mixing the meat with the dry food on numerous occasions and he would just pick out the meat (I do slice the meat into tiny pieces too) and leave the dry food. The matter don tire me jare, will try soaking the dry food in warm water before serving as advised, painful thing is I have got a whole bag of the booster dry food and he is just not eating it, all he eats for now is booster can food (sometimes mixed with rice).

Okay, hope the soaking worked for you...
Another thing you can try is the meat or chicken broth
If I may ask how many months is he

He’s looking so good, I’ve been following your thread from the first day; I won’t even lie when you said you took the pup from his mum before the stipulate duration that he was meant to spend I criticized in my mind. He looks so impressive and fine now, you proved most of us wrong. Kudos!!!

Bro please which dry food did you feed red and roxy when they were still relatively small? My Caucasian puppy, Marcus, wouldn't eat the dry food I got him, booster dry puppy food. Tried everything possible to make him eat them all to no avail.

I use Optimax puppy food, I have the same issue with Rex; what I did was that I mixed the dry food with table food(rice or potatoes) then slice meat or eggs into tiny pieces so he won’t select the meat/egg and serve. If you don’t want to mix with Table food you can just deep the dry food into warm water for like 10 seconds and add your sliced meat and serve. These are the techniques I used on Rex and he eats it (he’s still a picky eater)
